Longtime Seminole resident, Mable Lenora (Coston) Adams Lewis passed into eternal life on Friday, June 1, 2012 in Seminole. She was 91.
Oscar and Alva Henrietta (Garner) Coston welcomed Mable into this world on Dec. 18, 1921 in Hughes County near Holdenville; she was their only child.
Mable lived in and around Seminole all her life.
She married Burna Adams in Holdenville; he preceded her in death.
On Oct. 28, 2002, Mable married John Lewis in Shawnee; John survives her of the home in Seminole.
Mable retired from the Big Yank jean factory in Wewoka.
Throughout her life she loved to dance.
Mable leaves to cherish her memory husband, John of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Winford Adams and wife Helen of Seminole; one step-daughter, Barbara Hail and husband Jim of Hennessey; one step-son, John M. Lewis and wife Laurie of Bowlegs; five grandchildren, Saundra Rice, Donna Adams, Ronnie Adams, Brian Adams, and Billy Wayne Mooney; 15 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Mable was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burna Adams; three daughters, Norma Jean Bullock, Carol Miller and Glenda Kay Brown; two sons, Darrel Davis and Charles Adams.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 6th, at Little Cemetery. Chris Stinnett will officiate.
Visitation will take place at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole from Saturday, June 2nd through Wednesday, June 6th.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that you make donations to Interfaith at 813 N. Main Street, Seminole, OK 74868 in Mable’s memory.

Thelma Lilly-Pippin
Thelma Marie (Kaundart) Lilly-Pippin, 88 year old lifelong Seminole County resident passed from this life Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at her home in Seminole.
She was born Feb. 13, 1924 in Van Buren, Arkansas to parents William Franklin Kaundart and Letha Peralie (Heffley) Kaundart.
Thelma graduated from Twin Oaks High School and was married to Waldo B. Lilly on March 12, 1947 in Ada.
Together the couple had a son, Thomas F. Lilly and they made their home in Seminole.
While their son Thomas was attending Seminole Schools, his parents were busy running their business, B&L Electric, which they owned and operated for over 40 years.
Thelma was also busy with the Republican Women’s Club; The Republican Party; the Arts and Humanities Club of which she was a founding member in 1970 until 1995 serving for 25 years.
The family were members of Seminole First Baptist Church where Thelma loved to sing in the choir, she was also a member of the Selectones (The Women’s Choir).
She was also a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority.
Thelma also served as chairwoman for Oklahoma Governor Henry Bellman’s "Bellman’s Bells".
Thelma’s husband Waldo Lilly was elected to serve as the Mayor of Seminole which made Thelma the First Lady of Seminole.
Thelma also served on Seminole State Board of Regents from 1989 until 2002.
Sadly, Waldo preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1988 and her only son, Thomas F. Lilly preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 1992.
In spite of such tragic loss, Thelma was anchored in her Christian faith and her experiences inspired her to be witness to others in her life.
Thelma went on to remarry Lee Pippin, on July 5, 2003 in Seminole, a remarkable man whom brought a light and joy to her that had seemed a distant memory in all she had lost.
After many wonderful years together, the commitment and resolve Lee lovingly demonstrated in caring for Thelma during the last few years of her illness is simply beyond measure.
Thelma leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Lee Pippin of the home; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Beatrice Kaundart of Santa Fe, New Mexico; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Fred Stuart of Seminole; three grandchildren she adored, Todd Lilly of Tulsa, Chris Lilly of Tulsa and Robin Haney of Houston, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Chris, Jackson, J.D., Reese, Austin, Mason and Kate; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at The First Baptist Church located at 420 Reid Street in Seminole. Pastor Marvin Kehl will officiate the service assisted by Dr. Larry Inman. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.
Casket bearers will be Todd Lilly, Chris F. Lilly, Chris T. Lilly, Jackson Lilly, J.D. Haney and Reese Haney.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Barney Limes
Barney Joe Limes was born in Del Rio, Val Verde County, Texas on April 01, 1930. He was 82 years old when he died.
He is preceded in death by his oldest son, David Cameron Limes; his parents, O L "Barney" and Georgia Limes and his older brother, L L "Ches" Limes.
He is survived by his wife, Paula of the home in Sun City, Georgetown TX; his daughter and son-in-law, Gerald and Suzy Freeny of Cedar Park, TX; his youngest son Britton J Limes MD of West Stockbridge, MA; his sister-in-law, Nancy Limes of Austin, TX and his niece, Leslie Limes Pawelka, her husband Tom and their children, Nick and Aubrey of Austin, TX.
Barney was born in Del Rio because his father, an oil field "driller" was working on a "wildcat well" in that area. He was born in a doctor’s clinic because there was no hospital in this remote area.
After the well was finished, they moved to Konawa, his mother’s home town. He went to grade school in Konawa.
The Oil Drillers at that time, worked "by the well" and they moved from well to well. Barney lived in Konawa, Graham, TX, Meeker, CO, and Dumas, TX.
In 1945 he moved to Maud. It was there, he met his high-school sweetheart, Paula and they were married in March 21, 1947. He was 16 and she was 15.
They started college at Oklahoma City University because he had a football scholarship. The football program was dropped two years later and they transferred to the University of Oklahoma at Norman.
After one year at OU, Barney was accepted to OU Medical School and they moved to Oklahoma City.
Barney finished OU Medical School and was graduated in 1955. He started an OU Medical Residency Program but was drafted into the US Navy after one year of residency.
He spent 24 months in the Navy, the first year on a ship, the USS FULTON, which was tied up at the dock in New London, CT. The last year in the Navy, Barney was stationed at the Recruiting Depot in Oklahoma City.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Barney decided to go into a Urology Residency Program. He completed this Urology Residency in 1962.
He went into the practice of Urology with James S Boyle MD. Later he started his own private practice. His first partner was John Boaz MD who later moved to Montana. His next partner was Clark Hyde MD, then Robert O Raulston MD and James R Wendelken MD were added to his partnership.
Barney practiced in Oklahoma City and Midwest City for 47 years.
At age 65, he quit performing major surgery and limited his practice to an office practice and out-patient surgery.
In 2001, his only office was in Midwest City, associated with James R Mays MD.
Barney was a Board Certified Urologist, becoming a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology in 1968.
He was Chairman of the St. Anthony Hospital Department of Urology from 1976-1980.
Barney and Paula were married 65 years at the time of his death. They married in 1947 and were married 13 years before they started a family. Cam was born in 1960. Suzy in 1962 and Britt in 1964.
In 1997, Barney and Paula joined the Cathedral of Praise Prison Ministry Team, which in 2002 became the Jesse Bufford Prison Ministry Inc.
They were coordinators for this ministry. They spent much time in prison, going to Joseph Harp Correctional Center twice a month on Saturday evening and entering Mabel Bassett Correctional Center every Sunday morning for two services.
In 2010, Barney and Paula moved to Sun City Texas to be near their daughter and son-in-law.
Barney loved life, loved people, loved the practice of medicine and loved prison ministry.
He was interred in Maud in the family plot in the Cummings Cemetery.

Stephen Livesay
Stephen "Big Steve" Austin Livesay, age 65, a former resident of Seminole County, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was a current resident of Canadian, Okla.
Services were scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10th at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Burial followed at Konawa Cemetery. Gary Choate officiated.
Pallbearers were John Lewis Smith, Lawrence Ray Livesay, Thad Cathey, Eric Livesay, Joe Sutton, Bobby Kerns, Edward Roy Livesay, and Jason "Buck" Livesay.
He was born April 21, 1947, in Seagraves, Texas to William Clinton Livesay and Ruby Claire (Smith) Livesay.
He worked as an Oilfield Driller.
He is survived by two sons, Clint Perner of Austin, Texas, and Erick Livesay of Altus, Okla.; three daughters, Shala Fischer of San Angelo, Texas, Delta Sutton of Kansas City, Missouri, and Misty Livesay of Canadian, Okla.; two brothers, Albert Livesay of Odessa, Texas, and Herman Livesay of Konawa; two sisters, Vanita Lemmon of Richmond, Virginia, and Rose Chapman of Wiggins, Mississippi; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a wife, Terry (Penn) Livesay; five sisters; and five brothers.
Jody Long
Jody Leondra Long 28, of Cherokee, KS died Monday July 23, 2012 at her home following a short illness.
Jody was born Oct. 25, 1983 to Rickey and Mary Long.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended area schools.
Survivors include her children, Jack and Mary Jane; mother, Mary Long; paternal grandmother, Joan Long of Sasakwa; sister, Jamie Carter; brothers, Joshua Long, Joseph Long and several nieces and nephews.
Jody was preceded in death by her father and paternal grandfather, E.M. Long; maternal grandparents, Claude and Beula Long.
Private Memorial Services will take place at a later date.
Cremation Arrangements are by Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, KS.
Melvin Long
Melvin Arnold Long, 85, life long Maud resident died, Saturday, June 9, 2012.
He was born Jan. 13, 1927 in Nuyaka, near Okemah, to Delmer and Muriel (Baird) Long.
He married Virginia (Garrison) Long on Dec. 24, 1953 in St. Louis.
Melvin and his wife, Virginia opened " Long’s Need Mor Shoe Business" in 1970 and operated that until 1984, prior to that he owned Long’s Feed and Seed from 1967 to 1970.
He had worked for several years for O’Daniel Mud Service in Maud in the area oilfields.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.
Burial will follow in Cummings Cemetery in Maud.
Philip Scarbrough will officiate at the service.
