Michael Dewayne Pack was born June 4, 1951 in Inglewood, California to the late Lee Ray Pack and Imogene (Bunnell) Pack.
God called him home on Sept. 23, 2012 at the age of 61 years, after fighting a lengthy illness, which he fought until the end.
Preceding him in death are his parents, and son, Jason Pack.
Michael is survived by his significant other Vicky Wilson of the home; two brothers, John Pack and wife, Sara of Shawnee; Jimmy McPherson of Oklahoma City; sister Darla Pierce and husband, Charles of Oklahoma City; son, Michael and wife, Sara of Weatherford; three grandsons, Landon, Braiden Michael, Harley David all of Weatherford; a step-daughter Amber and son, Logan Michael of CA; step-son Gregory of CA; five nephews and two nieces, a host of Harley brothers and sisters, which Michael loved all of them.
Michael attended Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church where he found God’s word. He loved his church family and his many friends.
His passion in life was cruising in the wind on his Harley, with his friends and re-building Harleys with each of them. He loved to sit around and talk about motorcycles.
He enjoyed his three grandsons and watching them grow up and being called papa, which put a gleam in his eyes.
He will be greatly missed by his family, his Harley friends and all who came to know him.
Memorial services are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.
Aaron Palmer
Aaron Palmer, 24, Seminole resident, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 in Seminole.
Aaron was born July 31, 1988 in Santa Paula, California to Randall Palmer and Mary (Hanger) Hooper.
Aaron moved to Seminole in 2004 from Fillmore, California.
Aaron was manager of the Vailaint Detail Shop in Seminole.
He loved to fish, and was a very talented artist. Aaron had a passion for cars.
Aaron was an outstanding football player in high school.
Most of all Aaron was a hard worker and a very loving and dedicated husband and father.
Aaron is survived by his wife, Nicole Attocknie of Seminole; his daughter, Mia Ann Marie Palmer of Seminole; one brother, Eric Kigma of Chestnut, Illinois; a sister, Tiffany Palmer of Seminole, whom he was very close to and had a special bond with; mother and stepfather, Mary and Robert Hooper of Chestnut, Illinois; his mom that raised him, Amanda Oxford of Shawnee and father, Randall Palmer, also survive him.
He is also survived by a grandfather, Bob Palmer of Fillmore, California and his wife Shirley; an aunt, Bobbie Sue Palmer and cousin, Damien Ruiz, which he took care of in the home, also survive him.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Carl Whitfield and Vince Vanlandingham will officiate at the service.
Honorary bearers will be Eric Kigma, David Krause, Levi Pierce, Richy Kelly, Austin Laxton, Cody Stancell, Vince Vanlandingham, Damien Ruiz, Case Grizzle and Robert Hooper.
Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Mariusz Paluch
Mariusz "Mark" Paluch, 46, Macomb resident died May 25, 2012 at Shawnee.
He was born May 13, 1966 in Poland to Jan Richard and Stanislawa (Kapusta) Paluch.
He was a carpenter by trade and was able to do many things in construction.
He is survived by a son, Jonathan Paluch of Shawnee, Michigan and a daughter Shyla Paluch of Shawnee, Michigan; two sisters, Teresa Wiecek of Poland and Krystyna Paluch of Detroit, Michigan survive him.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Spring Church Cemetery in Sasakwa.
Serviced are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud.
Jessie Parker
Jessie "Van" Parker, former Cromwell resident passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 in Dewar, Okla. at the age of 70 years.
She was born Dec. 7, 1941 to the late Sherman and Myrtle (Lasiter) Parker.
Van married Claudene Bleeker, Nov. 27, 1959 in Miami, Okla. and to this union four children were born.
He was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Haskell.
His hobbies were fishing, traveling, Nascar racing, and handy man work.
Van worked in the oil and gas industry as a production foreman. He worked the oil fields in Russia and Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Preceding Van in death are his parents; and son, Gary Parker.
Survivors include wife, Claudene of Haskell; three sons, Greg Parker and wife Jerri of Cromwell, Mark and wife Carol of Oologah, Kelly and wife Lavon of Haskell; sixteen grandchildren, ten great-great-grandhildren; three sisters, Vada Rice of Memphis, TN, Joyce Yocham of Seminole, and Winnie Lack of Tulsa, a host of other relatives in the Cromwell, Wewoka, and Seminole area.
Honorary pall bearers will be Jacob Parker and Gatlin Parker.
Pall bearers will be Stevan Parker, Kevan Parker, Calvan Parker, Jarrod Parker, Mason Parker, and Anthony Parker.
Funeral services is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, with burial at Little Cemetery.
Sharyl Patten
Sharyl (Tarbox) Patten, age 64, of Norman, OK passed away at her home on Sunday, Jan 22, 2012.
She was born May 25, 1947 in Shawnee to Si Tarbox and Bill (Branson) Tarbox.
She spent the first 58 years of her life in Tecumseh. Sharyl attended Tecumseh schools and was Salutatorian of the 1965 graduating class. During her school years she participated in most of the extracurricular activities and was always a very competitive athlete.
She remained active in the Tecumseh Alumni Association prior to her illness; serving as president in 1976.
In 1965 Sharyl married Dave Patten.
They had two daughters, Lori and Dava. Sharyl was always very active in the girls’ activities, serving as homeroom mother, Bluebird and Campfire leader, and softball coach. Her home was always open to their friends.
Sharyl became a member of the Tecumseh First Baptist Church as a child and remained an active member throughout her life. She taught first grade Sunday school for many years.
At the time of her death she was a member of the Encouragers Sunday School class.
In 1978 Sharyl started a career in the oil and gas business, becoming a Petroleum Landman.
In 1984 she joined Dickey Bryan as a partner in Energy Lease Brokerage, Inc. in Seminole.
She has visited most of the courthouses in Oklahoma and is highly respected by her colleagues and clients.
Sharyl moved to Norman in 2005 so she could spend even more time enjoying her grandchildren.
She enjoyed being a part of anything her kids and grandkids were involved in.
She was an avid sports fan, especially baseball and basketball.
As a participant in her adult years she enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, taking care of her yard, and travel.
She is a member of Chapter W, PEO.
Those left to lovingly cherish her memory are her husband, Dave; two daughters and sons in law, Lori and Steven Russell and Dava and Rick Byrd, all of Norman; five grandchildren Cale, Conner, and Rylie Russell and Braxton and Luke Byrd; four sisters, Suzi and John Gannon, LuAnn and Roger White, Debbie Fairchild and Jo Ellen and Buzzy Payton; one brother, Gus and Shereatta Tarbox; and many other family and friends.
The family would like to thank Norman Regional Health System and Mercy Oncology of Norman. A special thank you goes to the caregivers of Loving Care Hospice, Alex, Darcy, Michelle, Colleen and Brenda.
Viewing will begin 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan 25, 2012 with the family gathering to meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan 26, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh with Reverend Tony Peak officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
The family has requested memorials in Sharyl’s honor be made to the Tecumseh Alumni Association Scholarship Fund or Tecumseh Relay for Life (The American Cancer Society).
Bruce Patterson
Bruce Arnold Patterson, 89, of Seminole, departed this life on Feb 27, 2012 in Enid, OK.
Bruce was born July 6, 1922 to Harriet Preston and Arnett Patterson, in Huntington Arkansas.
Bruce lived a productive and generous life.
During his youth, Bruce had somewhat of a nomadic life with his mother and grandmother. They lived in Illinois, Kansas, and Arkansas. He arrived in Seminole, Oklahoma at an early age, where he made home and spent the rest of his life. He credits most of his up bringing to his Aunt Daisy.
Bruce attended Booker T. Washington School in Seminole. His education was interrupted because of his military services during the World War II era.
While in the military, he obtained the rank of sergeant and received several medals and ribbons.
On Nov 2, 2001, through Seminole Public School along with other Veterans, Bruce was honored with his high school diploma.
After his discharge from the military, February 1946, he returned to Seminole. Bruce worked for Halliburton in Seminole and Duncan.
In the 1960’s, he formed his own Roofing Company. He continued as a fulltime roofer, until the late 1990’s, when health issues limited his ability to perform. But if you listen to Bruce, he was a lifetime roofer, and nobody could do it better.
Bruce married his childhood sweetheart, Geraldine "Gerri" Jones of Seminole, May 9, 1943. To this union were born two children. Gerald Francis and Teresa Elaine. Through Bruce and Gerri’s endeavors they were blessed with the adoption of a son, Amare’ Worku.
Bruce leaves behind to cherish his memory: son, Gerald Francis (Victoria) Patterson, Portland, OR; daughter, Teresa (Donald) Tucker, Enid OK; son, Amare’ (Yeshiwork) Worku, Edmond, OK; sister, Olivia (Tracy) Dantzler, Kansas City, KS.; and sister-in-law Dolores Jones, Seminole, OK; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka.
