Wewoka resident Lucille Hoglan, age 92, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at her residence after a long illness.
She was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma, November 22, 1916, to Eugene and Julia (Hall) Thomas. She graduated from Wewoka High School and was an active member of Bethel Pentecostal until her illness.
Lucille loved to garden, and trying out new recipes and spending time with her family. She put her Lord first making sure her family knew Jesus Christ.
Lucille married Charles Ashley Hoglan, in Wewoka.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and husband Charles.
Survivors include: sons, Edgar Black, of Blackwell, Tommy Black and wife Marchetta, of Wewoka, daughter, Patricia Cokeley and husband Lee, of Seminole; eight grandchildren, Katrina Hicks and husband Richard, of Wichita, Kan., Yvonne Matthews and husband Jimmy, of Ponca City, Eddie Black, of Oklahoma City, Chris Black and wife April of California, Travis Black and wife Shelly of Wewoka, Melisa Kennedy and husband of Larry, of Seminole, Justin Orr and wife Amie, of Cromwell, and Aislinn Steiner and husband Kevin of Oklahoma City; seventeen great-grandchildren, Alicia, Amy, Kasey, Ashley, Peary Robertson, Matthew Robertson, Rachel Farrin, Stephanie Matthews, Ryan, Chelsea, Kayla, Courtney, Woodrow, Stephanie, Lauren, Dalton, and Austin, three great-grandchildren, Mattie Sue Robertson, Manning Clark Robertson, and Jourdyn Mooring; brothers and sisters, Mildred Freer, of Wewoka, Marjorie Carter, of Seminole, Bill Thomas, of Seminole, and Bob Thomas and wife Mary of Wewoka, a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are: Justin Orr, Larry Kennedy, Travis Black, Eddie Black, Jimmy Matthews, and Kevin Steiner.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Melissa Kennedy, Aislinn Steiner, Katrina Matthews, Yvonne Black. and Chris Black.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2009 at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Wewoka, with Brother Doyle Gadbury officiating, and interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Jon Holden
Seminole resident Jon William Holden, age 56, died Monday, April 13, 2009.
He was born April 17, 1953, in Claremore, to Buddy and Lillie Faye (Harrison) Fry. He attended Tulsa High School and later worked in sales for Sigma Processing.
On November 5, 2004 he married Michelle (Lozier) Holden, in Jefferson Parrish, La.
He was retired from sales and the Sigma Meat Processing Plant and a member of the Temple of Praise Church, in Seminole.
He is survived by his wife Michelle, of the home; daughter, Melissa Beasley, of Tulsa; step-daughters, Ashley Newman of Tecumseh and Sarah Stout, of New York; sister, Sondra Pierce, of Seminole; son, Jonah Brown; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Temple of Praise Church with Rev. Harold Turner officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole.
Michelle Holden
Michelle Denise (Lozier) Holden, 39, longtime Seminole resident died at her home, in Seminole, on Thursday, September 24, 2009. Michelle was born August 1, 1970, in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Michelle lived most of her life in Seminole and was a member of the Temple of Praise Church. She held many sales positions in the area doing phone sales work and most recently worked in sales at Blue-Wave Boats. Michelle loved fishing, cooking and her cats. She especially loved to go shopping and was very good at it!
She married John Holden in New Orleans and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2009.
She leaves to cherish her memories her father; James B. Lozier and his wife Juanita of Seminole, Oklahoma, mother; Vickie Yancey of Seminole, Oklahoma, brother; Jason Wayne Lozier, of Ninekah, Oklahoma, daughter; Ashley Newman, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, grandmother; Maxine Lozier of Seminole, Oklahoma, grandfather, Vernon Yancey of Seminole, Oklahoma, three step brothers; Daren Burton of Alaska, Shane Burton of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Loren Burton, of Ninekah, Oklahoma and numerous other family and dear friends.
Visitation will be held at the Swearingen Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2009 from Noon to 8 a.m. and Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 8 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Temple of Praise Church with Rev. Harold Turner officiating.
Fern Holik
Services for Fern Elizabeth Holik, 91, of Konawa, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Vamoosa Baptist Church, Revs. Kevin Duck and Alan Wood will officiate. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.
Mrs. Holik died Friday, April 17, 2009 at a Seminole Estates Nursing Center, in Seminole. She was born July 4, 1917 in Nebraska to Clarence Bert and Pearl Reddington Walker. She graduated from high school in Amarillo, Texas.
She married Albert Francis Holik. He preceded her in death in 1959. Mrs. Holik was a homemaker and a member of the Wolf Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include her two sons, Johnny Holik and wife Carol, of Cromwell and George Holik and wife Barbara, of Weston, Colo.; ten grandchildren, which include, Randall Brewer and wife Keisha, of Roff, Janette Duck and husband Kevin, of Konawa, Chrystal Taylor and husband Ken, of Seminole, and Leah McNatt and husband Mitch, of Amarillo, Texas; and numerous great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Camilla Brewer-Bailey.

Fern Holik

Dennis Holland
Funeral services for Seminole native Dennis Carl Holland are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Cooper Funeral Home Chapel in Tecumseh, with Tom Hilton officiating.
Holland died Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the age of 58.
He was born to Raymond and Alice (Risenhover) Holland in Seminole on November 3, 1950.
Holland was reared in Seminole, and he and his wife reared their family in Seminole, Cushing, Elk City and Perry.
In 1987, they moved to Tecumseh.
Holland was a 1969 graduate of Seminole High School.
On January 14, 1976, he married Pam Marsh in Shawnee.
Holland began working as a sales representative at Oil Field Supply. He had also served as a firefighter.
For the past 14 years, he worked at Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center as an institutional program coordinator.
Holland built the home where his family currently resides, and his family was the focal point of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Holland; and one sister, Saundra Hilton.
Holland is survived by his wife, Pam, of the home; one son, Dustin Holland, Shawnee; one daughter, Holli James, Bartlesville; two brothers, Chester Holland, Miami, and Pat Holland of Jones; one sister, Patricia Price of Tulsa; and one granddaughter.
James Holt
James Hendrix Holt, 73, of Seminole, died Friday, June 5, 2009 in Oklahoma City. He was born June 27, 1935 in Ardmore, to Nat and Pauline Cleo (Rushing) Holt.
Holt moved to Seminole in April of 2006 from Tehachapi, Calif. He attended school in California and graduated in 1951 from Arvin High School in Arvin, Calif.
He worked for Manville Forest Products Corp. as a "Millwright" and an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, and retired in 1992.
He married Dollie Mae (Cox) Holt on July 29, 1954 in Lamont, Calif.
Mr. Holt was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church at Wolf, Oklahoma
He is survived by his son, Clinton Holt, of Seminole; daughters, Dianna Holt and Judy Holt, both of Seminole; sisters, Natha Davis and Sharron Walters, of Taft, Calif.; thirteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife and son, Steven Holt.
Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Little Cemetery with Rev. Allen Wood officiating.
Holt’s grandsons will be casket bearers.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, 100 W. Strothers, in Seminole.
Lessie Holt
Lessie Lee (Speers) Holt, age 77, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at her residence, in Asher.
She was born Jan. 30, 1931, to Lessie "Dick" Speers and Ruth (Ward) Speers, in Caney. She married Ernest Bruce Holt on June 7, 1947, in Purcell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Asher.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Holt, of the home; three sons, Ted Holt, of Ada, Tracy Holt, of Oklahoma City, and Bob Holt, of Asher; two daughters, Dixie Hunt, of Ada and Shelly Everett, of Shawnee; one brother, Bill Speers, of Del City; four sisters, Kay Johnson, of Broken Arrow, Naomi Culp, of New Castle, Barbara Fowler, of Asher, and Linda Coker, of Asher; ten grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Ruth Speers; one son, Bruce Alan Holt; and one sister, Patricia Hale.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at the First Baptist Church, in Asher, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, of Konawa. Burial will follow at the Wanette Cemetery. Rev. Dewayne Johnson will officiate.
Pallbearers are Troy Hale, Billy Fowler, Chad Fowler, Darrin Fowler, Butch Culp, Dennis Johnson, and Shane Coker.
Honorary Pallbearers are Red Barnes, and Onus Jordan.
Barbara Hooker
Barbara Kay (Jackson) Hooker died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, in Seminole County, at the age of 56.
She was born Sept. 15, 1952, in Seminole, to William Hilton and Dorothy Marie (Marx) Jackson.
She married Floyd Eldon Hooker on May 12, 1972; he preceded her in death on May 22, 2008.
She is survived by three daughters, Angela Cichocki, of Maud, Crystal Marie Nejmaoui, of Oklahoma City, and Candace Hooker, of Maud; and one sister, Lois Cooley, of Edmond.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Hilton and Dorothy Marie Jackson; and husband, Floyd Hooker.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 pm Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel.
Mary Hopkins
Mary Charlotte (Ladra) Hopkins, age 85, of Lindsay, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at Lindsay Manor Nursing Home, in Lindsay. She was born Sept. 24, 1924 to Frank Ladra and Irene Constance (Young) Ladra. She married William Calvin Hopkins on May 23, 1941.
She graduated from Wewoka High School. She moved to Lindsay in 1954. She was a homemaker, and she had owned and operated a local convenience store. She attended the United Methodist Church, in Lindsay. Hopkins was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, Mother Advisor of Lindsay Rainbow Girls and a Past Matron of Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her daughters, Niki Richardson and Tonya Loman; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the United Methodist Church, in Lindsay, with Rev. Dr. Stephen Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, in Lindsay.
Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home, in Lindsay.
