Christopher Dwayne "Chris" Johnson, 37, Seminole resident died a hero in a tragic accident on Christmas Eve, Thursday December 24, 2009, while he was helping a woman stuck on side of the road during the recent winter storm. Chris was born July 3, 1972, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Mike and Neoma (Weaver) Johnson.
Chris married Teresa (Jones) Johnson on December 19, 1990, in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Chris attended McLoud Public Schools and graduated from McLoud High School and then went to Seminole State College where he received an associate’s degree. He then attended the University of Oklahoma. Chris was an IT Technician for Claimetrics a division of Express Personnel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Chris served his country in the U. S. Army from 1990 to 1992 before receiving an honorable medical discharge.
Chris was a wonderful husband and father and loved his family very much. He was also loved and respected by everyone who knew him. Chris moved to Seminole from Shawnee in July of 1999 with his family.
His wife Teresa Johnson, of the home survives Chris. He is also survived by his parents, Mike and Neoma Johnson, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; grandmother, Lorene Johnson, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; four sons, Brian Johnson, Corey Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Jr. and Jon-Michael Johnson, all of the home, in Bowlegs, Oklahoma; two daughters, Brittany Johnson and Chelsea Johnson, of the home, in Bowlegs; three brothers and a sister-in-law Mike Johnson, Jr. of Bowlegs, Oklahoma, John Johnson, of Bowlegs, and Robert Johnson and wife Susan, of Earlsboro, Oklahoma; sister, Amanda and brother-in-law James Renfro, and a brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Terri Hale; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert Powell and Jennifer Louise Jones, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Justin, Taylor, Amanda, Jacob, Hanna and Janie Johnson, Tim Jones, Heidi Jones and Sarah Jones, Scott Renfro, Timaree Hale and Dustin Hale.
His grandparents, Almus Henry Weaver and Pauline Williams and William Leonard Johnson, preceded him in death.
There was a Rosary service Monday, December 28, 2009, at 6 p.m., at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Father Basil Kennan, O.S.B. officiating. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, with Father Donald Wolf, O.S.B., officiating, with burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shawnee, Oklahoma.
The Family would like to thank the Seminole County Sheriffs Department and Seminole Police Department and all other law enforcement that assisted the family Christmas Eve. Special thanks goes out to Trooper Brad Sutterfield.
A Memorial in memory of Chris Johnson has been set up at Bank of the West, in Seminole, Oklahoma for any memorial donations.

Claudia Johnson
Seminole resident Claudia Estelle (Hall) Johnson, age 87, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at Solara Hospital, in Shawnee. She was born May 25, 1922, in Point Cedar, Ark., to parents Lester Wylie Hall and Lelia (Brumley) Hall.
She married Luther Fox Johnson, in 1940. They moved to Seminole from Okmulgee to live in the "Plant 13" area in 1945.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a cook at "Granny Fern’s" restaurant in Seminole and at the Seminole Elk’s lodge as well as Pioneer Nursing Home. She was affiliated with the Assemblies of God Church.
She is survived by her sons, Lester Eugene Johnson, of Huntsville, Ala., Henry Dallas Johnson, of Seminole, and Denver J. Johnson, of Bloomington, Ill.; daughter, Linda Faye Hailey, of Holdenville five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and five sisters.
Funeral services were scheduled for 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole. Interment followed at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

Clyde Johnson
A Memorial Service for Clyde A. Johnson, 80, of Stillwater, who passed from this life Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at home surrounded by his family, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 1, at Countryside Baptist Church in Stillwater. The Reverend James Bond will officiate. Services are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Stillwater.
Clyde Andrew Johnson was born April 3, 1929, on the Seminole family farm to Thomas D. and Wency V. Johnson. He attended schools in Seminole County graduating from Varnum High School in 1948.
Clyde worked for SunRay DX for 19 years before opening "The Rib Ranch, " the family restaurant, from 1973 to 1987. Due to his love for the oil and gas industry, Clyde returned to this line of work from 1987 until his retirement in 1992.
His hobbies included golf, bowling, boating, camping, and visiting, but his most precious love was his wife of 63 years, Kathline. There wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t tell her that he loved her and that she was his everything. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He considered his proudest accomplishment to be his family.
Clyde was preceded in death by numerous members in his family, which include his mother and father, three brothers, and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Kathline Johnson, of the home; two sons, David Johnson and his wife Wanda, of Stillwater, Mike Johnson and his wife Leslie, of Stillwater, and one daughter, Nancy Gary and her husband Steve, of Burleson, Texas; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one that is on the way, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private family burial will occur at Sunset Memorial Garden, in Stillwater. His nine grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Chad Johnson, Justin Johnson, KC Wood, Candice Johnson, Jeremy Burnett, Jessica Busby, Bradley Gary, and Tyler Gary will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Gabriella Johnson
Seminole County resident Gabriella Daphney (Goate) Johnson, age 35, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, in Seminole. She was born Dec. 14, 1973, in Shawnee, to Johnson "Alfred" Goate and Nancy (Harrison) Goate.
She graduated from Del City High School in 1991. In 1994 after working for a few years she married Erik Martinez. She went to work as an actress for Magna Talent Agency where she made many television commercials and appeared on billboards. She went on to serve in the United States Army. Most recently she worked for Wrangler Jeans in Seminole, until 2008.
On July 3, 2008 she married Timothy John Johnson, in Wewoka, in a quiet ceremony.
Although enrolled in the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma she was also Creek and Chickasaw.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Johnson, of the home; son, Erik Martinez, Jr., of the home; daughters, Erika Martinez, of the home and Magdalena Henry, of Tulsa; parents, Alfred and Nancy Goate, of Oklahoma City; and brothers Winfred Davis, of Moore and Craig Farber, of Holdenville.
She is preceded in death by her by her maternal grandparents, Jacob and Zonie Harrison and by her paternal grandparents, John and Athelenna Goate.
A wake service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 26 at the Indian Nations Baptist Church (located at the corner of 2nd and Evans in Seminole); the body will be taken to the church at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Services will be lead by Pastor Lewis Johnson and Rev. Danny Faulkner.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2009 at the Indian Nations Baptist Church. Pastor Lewis Johnson, Rev. Danny Faulkner and Alfred Goate will officiate the service.
Casket Bearers will be: Stacy Black, Curtis Munoz, Roman Goate, Phillip Harrison, Martin Goate and Wayne Williams.
Honorary Bearers: Lance Taylor, Jeremy Postoak, William Johnson and Aaron McLaughlin.

Jimmy Johnson
Jimmy Arthur "Jimbo" Johnson, 70 year-old, longtime Maud resident, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, in Oklahoma City. He was born Feb. 23, 1939, in Konawa, to Bill Johnson and Edna (Grigsby) Johnson.
He attended Konawa schools and later married Carol Brooks on Nov. 3, 1962, in Maud.
He served in the 45th National Guard and also retired from Expert Tires, in Seminole, after 34 years. He then worked at Green’s Oklahoma Liquefied Gas, in Seminole, for five years.
He was active in Immanuel Fellowship Church, in Seminole, for many years. At the time of his death, he was a member at The Peoples Church, in Maud.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; sons, Kenneth "Kenny" Johnson, of Seminole, Michael "Scott", of Maud, and Anthony "Tony" Johnson, of Seminole; brothers, Charles Johnson, of Dallas, Texas and David Johnson, of Oklahoma City; sisters, Frankie Cochran, of Konawa, Louise Chapman, of Oklahoma City, and Wanda Ferguson, of Oklahoma City; and seven grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Danny Johnson; and brother, Wayne Johnson.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 at The Peoples Church, in Maud. Rev. Steve George of Atlanta Georgia and Pastor Larry Chesser will officiate the service.
Cremation services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.
Larry Johnson
Longtime Seminole county resident Larry Don Johnson passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2009, in Seminole, Oklahoma, at the age of 52.
He was born on July 2, 1956 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to David Rudolph and Wanda Lee (Ward) Johnson.
He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He enjoyed being outside taking care of his ranch and animals. He loved his grandchildren who helped him on the ranch.
He married Nancy Jo (Bronnenberg) on September 28, 1974 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. She survives him of the home. He is also survived by his mother, Wanda Johnson, of Seminole; mother-in-law, Lola Cornelison, of Seminole; son and daughter-in-law, J.D. and Andrea Johnson, of Seminole; daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Eric Daniel, of Ft. Hood, Texas; one adopted son and daughter-in-law, Antonio and Sarah Olvera, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Tina Johnson, of Seminole; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Terry Gray, of Seminole and Sandy and Garry Kiker, of Seminole; sister-in-law, Sharon Gamble and husband John; five grandchildren, Cooper Johnson, Bronc Johnson, Jett Johnson, Malayna Olvera and Diego Olvera. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other family and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Johnson; and two father-in-laws, Bill Bronnenberg and Claude Cornelison.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, in Seminole with Rev. J.C. Simpson and Rev. Gary Wilburn officiating.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First United Bank and Trust, 201 N. Milt Phillips Ave. Seminole, Oklahoma for a College Scholarship Fund for Larry’s Grandchildren.

Arthur Jones
Summerfield resident Arthur Clyde Jones, age 80, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Sparks Regional Medical Center, in Fort Smith, Ark.
Jones was born July 1, 1928, in Crystal Falls, Texas.
He was a member of Summerfield Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a member of the American Legion. Jones was a welder and rancher.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Linda and Herman McGowen, of Summerfield and Myrna Faye and Steve Dorsey, of Heavener; son, Jeremy Jones, of Poteau; eight grandchildren, Bryan Dorsey, Michelle Earls, Misti Roath, Brad Dorsey, Brooke Dorsey, Melissa Caldwell, Chelsea Jones, and Jordan Jones; 13 great grandchildren; special daughter, Candice Frizzell, of Wister; two sisters, Dorothy Morphew, of Fort Worth, Texas and Ruby Dickson, of Dallas, Texas; special friend, Dorothy Davis, of Seminole; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, loved ones, and a host of beloved friends.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Summerfield Baptist Church, in Summerfield. Rev. Charles Caughern and Rev. Rick Hedrick will officiate with interment to follow at Doty Cemetery, in Gordon, Texas.
Avis Jones
Former Wewoka resident Avis Belton Jones, 85, of Sparta, Mo. passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, in his home with his loving son James "Jay" by his side. Avis was born in Madison, Kansas, on May 12, 1923, the first born son of James F. and Pearl M.(Colton) Jones
In 1952, Avis began his family with his wife Loretta Jean ( Massey) Jones, who preceded him in death.
They raised three children: Janet Rae Antell, who preceded him in death, Cheryl Jean Campbell, of Texas, and Jay Jones who resided with Avis until the time Avis met his eternal reward..
Avis was a proud WWII Veteran of the United States Army 232nd Infantry Regiment, serving as a machine gunner in both Frances and Germany until he was wounded in action on January 5, 1945.
He was decorated with two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars, and a Victory Medal upon his honorable discharge.
Always a free spirit, Avis partnered with his brother Jim, who also preceded him in death, to open their own business. Jones Truck Repair, in 1963, a family business which Jim’s son Kevin now operates.
In addition to the family members mentioned previously, Avis also was preceded in death by brother Harry Lee and brother-in-law Howard Evans.
An avid hunter, fisherman, and Harley Davidson rider, Avis was survived by one brother, Bob and wife Judy of Texas, three sisters, June Metts, Melba Brumley, and husband Darrell, and Juanita Evans all of Oklahoma, as well as two children, five grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren, multiple nephews, cousins, and close friends, including Kevin and Heather Woodard and their daughters, Hailey and Alexis, Sam and Cindy and young daughter Trinity who all loved " Santa Clause" very much.
Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Wewoka Church of Christ.

Bonnie Jones
Former Seminole resident Bonnie (Turner) Jones died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at her home in Maysville.
She was born March 20, 1961, in Yuma, Ariz. to Jimmy and Wanda Turner. She was a member of Jehovah’s Witness.
She graduated from Varnum High School in 1979 and shortly thereafter married Jerry Jones June 2, 1979, in Wewoka.
She is survived by her husband, of the home; daughter, Brandie Harrington, of Maysville; father and step-mother, Jimmy and Linda Turner, of Vanoss; mother, Wanda Turner, of Seminole; brother, Roger Turner, of Seminole; and sister, Sherryl Ezell, of Grants Pass, Ore.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Ray Turner.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Kingdom Hall (2104 Seran Dr.), in Wewoka. Randall Patterson will officiate the service.
Diana Jones
Former Konawa resident Diana Sue Jones, age 60 died Monday, March 9, 2009, at St. John Medical Center, in Tulsa.
She was born May 26, 1948, in Oklahoma City. At the age of twenty-two months, Jones was placed at Enid State School. She was transferred from Enid State School to New Horizons Nursing Home, of Konawa, in January of 1972. She had been a resident of Haskell Care Center, in Haskell, since July 2003.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Vamoosa Cemetery, in Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, of Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate.
