Wilma Kimport, 100, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, in Seminole. She was born in Magnolia, Ark. on May 4, 1908, to Samuel B. and Naomi (Gosdin) Nolen.
She spent most of her youth in Magnolia and Fordyce, Ark. She moved to Stuttgart, Arkansas when she was a freshman in High School and graduated from Stuttgart High.
During her senior year she won state honors in Shorthand and Typing. After graduation she worked with a Law Firm and served as Court Reporter until moving to Seminole, in Jan. of 1935.
After moving to Seminole she was employed with Seminole Motor Sales (Ford-Lincoln and Mercury) under the management of J.C. Cravens, Dick Wissinger and Garland Hammons. After 15 years with the firm she thought it was time to retire, but Chester Ellis contacted her after three weeks and persuaded her to go to work at the First State Bank, after two and one-half years in the bank she began work for Walter E. Bailey Oil Company, where she continued for 1 1/2 years after his death and settlement of his estate. She worked a total of thirty-one years for Mr. Bailey.
Wilma was a member of the First Baptist Church since Jan. of 1935. She was very active at the church, teaching Sunday School classes and singing in the Choir. She led singing in the Adult Department Class for over 55 years.
She married Adam F. Kimport on April 15, 1939 in Oklahoma City, he preceded her in death on April 18, 1969. They were married for 30 years.
Several nieces and nephews and their families survive her.
Wilma’s aim in life was always to help others. She will be greatly missed by many friends and loved ones.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, in Seminole, with Dr. Tommy Clark officiating and burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, in Ardmore.
Lois Kinnett
Lois Marie Kinnett went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 5, 2009 at the age of 80. Lois was born on May 11, 1928 in Meeker, Oklahoma to Floyd and Margie (Gallaway) Kinnett.
Lois has lived at Seminole Estates Nursing Home since 2000. She became close to many of the staff and residents there. Lois has been a member of Seminole First Baptist Church since moving here in 1978 from Meeker. She loved going to church and was an active part of the Mary Davis Sunday School class until she was no longer able to go the past few years. Lois loved children and worked in the church nursery and babysat many children in her home.
Lois had a great smile that lit up any room and her sense of humor will always be remembered. Lois loved life and all of her family members. She loved it when people would visit her and she loved receiving cards that she read word for word.
Lois leaves to cherish her memories her nephews; Chris Clark and wife Dava, of Shawnee and C.M. Clark and wife Sue, of Seminole; niece, Pam Fletcher and husband Terry, of Seminole; great nieces and nephews, Casady and Peyton Fletcher, April Clark, Derek and Carrie Clark; and great-great nephews, Tyler Crandall and Carson Clark.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Clark officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be: Chris Clark, Derek Clark, C.M. Clark, Terry and Casady Fletcher and Tyler Crandall.
Edward Kirkpatrick
A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Seminole for Seminole County resident Edward Eugene (Bill) Kirkpatrick.
Kirkpatrick died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 in Oklahoma City at the age of 81.
He was born Feb. 29, 1928 near Leon, Kan.
Graveside services and burial for Kirkpatrick will take place at 1 p.m. at the Seminole Indian Tribe burial grounds.
Mary Kiser
Mary Ann Overstreet Kiser died Feb. 17, 2009. She was born Feb. 17, 1944 to Ivory and Carrie Johnson Overstreet, in Lima. She attended Lima Public Schools and graduated from New Lima High School.
She attended East Central State University, in Ada and enlisted in the United States Navy for 3 years and then received her B.S. degree.
She retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs after 34-1/2 years of service, in March of 2007.
She is survived by her sons, Tony George (Benita) Daniel, of Oklahoma City and Damon (Kelley) Forshee, of Sand Springs; brother, Ivory Overstreet, Jr., of Lima; sister, Ollie Overstreet Dotson, of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charlie Overstreet; and sister, Pauletta Daniels.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday Feb. 21, 2009 at the Lima Baptist Church, in Lima. Interment is in Lima Cemetery under the direction of Temple & Sons Funeral Directors, Inc., Oklahoma City.
Vivian Knight
Vivian Ann Knight, 70, of Eufaula passed away on Friday Nov. 20, 2009, at her home. Vivian was born on Oct. 9, 1939, in Cushing, Oklahoma, the daughter of Earnest and Frances Vivian (Blackburn) McConnel. She attended Cushing Grade School and Wewoka High School.
On March 1, 1955, Vivian married Arlis Ray Knight in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 2004. Vivian worked for over 15 years at the Lillian Russell Garment Factory.
At 40 years of age, Vivian received her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. In 1981, she worked for several years at the Wewoka Times newspaper. She also worked for the Seminole Producer, the Eufaula Works, and the Indian Journal. Vivian retired from the Eufaula Public Library in 2005. Vivian was an active member of the Eufaula Eastern Star.
She is survived by her sons, Aaron Wayne Knight and wife Graciela, of Tulsa, Curtis Gene Knight, and Robert Agustus Knight, both of Eufaula; brother, Dennis McConnel and wife May, of Choctaw; sisters, Carol Levonik and husband Jim, of Lawton and Patti Howard and husband Donald, of Ponca City, brothers-in-law, Terrell Knight and Leroy Snowden; two grandchildren, Gabriela Michelle Knight and Christian Alan Knight and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vivian is preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Carmin Knight; and father-in-law, Justus Knight.
Funeral services were held Monday Nov. 23, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Kelley Memorial Chapel with Marvin Chamberlain officiating. Burial followed at the Bower Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black, and Merritt Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Terry McCain, Dennis McConnel, Aaron Knight, Robert Knight, Don Tretter, and Curtis Knight.
Honorary Pallbearers were Jerry Linen, Terrell Knight, John Knight, and Greg Knight.
Theda Landrith
Theda (Pease) Landrith, age 83, longtime Seminole resident died, Monday, March 16, 2009, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
Theda was born December 24, 1925, in Seminole to James Lester and Flora (Smith) Pease. Theda was a life long resident of Seminole and died after a short illness.
Theda attended Seminole High School and married Jack Landrith, in Reno, Nev., on December 27, 1942. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1995.
Theda worked at Douglas Aircraft during World War II and in later years was a longtime sales clerk at Jones Jewelry, in Seminole.
She is survived by her children, Jackie and Bob Pock, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Rhonda and Skip Myers, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, and Kelley and Angela Landrith, of Texas; her siblings, Lester and Fran Pease, of Illinois, Myra Lawson, of California, Damon and Dolores Pease, of Mustang, Oklahoma, Dale Pease, of Texas, Linda and Jimmy Jones of Oklahoma City, and Lesanna and Greg Presley, of El Reno, Oklahoma.
Theda is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to Loving Care Hospice in Shawnee for the fine care that they gave Mrs. Landrith.
Memorial donations may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
Services will be held Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darryl Tiller officiating. Internment will be at Little Cemetery, Seminole County, Oklahoma.
Casket will remain open till service time then will be closed.

Billy LaValley
Graveside services for Billy Conn LaValley, (Doctor of Pharmacy) age 60 years, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Oakwood Cemetery, in Wewoka, Oklahoma with Dr. Michael Vallandingham officiating.
She was born March 23, 1949, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to W.S. (Bud) and Faye (Harrison) LaValley. He passed away Sunday, August 9, 2009, at his residence, in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
Bill was a graduate of Wewoka High School in 1967. He played on the 1966 Class A Football Championship team. After graduating from Wewoka High School he attended College at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma from 1967 to June1973, receiving a BS Pharmacy Degree in Pharmacy. During college he was member of Pi Kappa Alpha Social Fraternity, OPHA and Alpha Professional Pharmacy Organization. After receiving his degree he worked for Paul Floyd Clinic Pharmacy, in Ada, Oklahoma, at Suggs Clinic from 1973 to 1976. He owned Red Bud Discount Pharmacy, in Wewoka from 1976 to 1988. In 1988 he received his Commission as a Pharmacist in the Commissioned Corp Officer, of the US Public Health rank of Major 1988 to 1996.
He was senior Pharmacist at Carl Albert Indian Hospital from 1988 to 1992 and transferred to Claremore Indian Hospital in 1992 and served until 1993. At present time Pawnee Indian Clinic employed him since 1996.
Bill served on the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy, Oklahoma State Pharmacy Association, Indian Health Service, Southwestern State Pharmacy School Alumni, Wewoka Board of Adjustment, Wewoka Quarterback Club, National Rifle Association, and Seminole Nation Historical Society.
He was of the Baptist Faith.
Billy had a love of all sports; he especially loved his scuba diving, quail hunting, and collection of guns and Pharmacy Antiques.
He will be missed by his English Bulldog Tuffy (He loved dearly) all of pasted English Bulldogs, Pookie Ryan's German Pincher.
He married Clella Ann Scott, love of his life; they were married December 18, 1970.
Preceding him in death are his parents and grandparents.
Survivors include his wife, Clella, of 39 years, of Wewoka; son, Ryan, of Wewoka; brother, Mickey LaValley; sister, Jaunita Foster, of Wewoka; nieces, Amber LaValley, and Debbie Javaheri; and nephew, Robert Foster; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Shirley Lawson
Shirley Deane Lawson, age 72, died March 8, 2009, in Hobbs, N.M.
She was born Dec. 1, 1936, in Snomac, to Edward Clarence Hankins and Mildred Williams.
She married Grover Allen Lawson Jr. in 1958, in Brownfield, Texas.
She moved to Hobbs, N.M. in 1958 and worked as a sales person at Norman Fee for over seven years. She was a member of the Eagles, American Legion, and the Taylor Street Church of Christ.
She is survived by her step-sons, Monty Lawson, of Eakly and Grover Allen Lawson, of Shawnee; step-daughter, Janice Brunsfield, of Spring, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, brother, Edward Lee Hankins; and husband.
Interment is scheduled to take place at Resthaven Cemetery, in Seminole.
Delbert Lay
Delbert Eugene Lay died, in Oklahoma City, on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at the age of 47.
He was the son of Earl Dean and Alice Jolene (Conley) Lay, born on Jan. 6, 1962 in Boise, Idaho. He was brought up and attended schools in the Boise area and lived there until moving to Holdenville, at age 20.
He married Jill Armstrong on Dec. 17, 2004, in Oklahoma City. They lived for five years in Norman, and for the past year in Oklahoma City.
Lay worked most of his life as a truck driver. He attended Life Church in Oklahoma City.
He is survived by his wife, Jill, of the home; eight children, Chelsei Sawyer, Scotty Lay, and Ryan Lay, all of Holdenville, Jordan Morgan, of Noble, Grace Bedford, of Midwest City, Zoe Hofegartner, Callie Hofegartner and Max Hofegartner, all of Purcell; two grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby Lay, of Holdenville and Dean Lay, of Seminole; three sisters, Teresa McCrory, of Boise, Idaho, Amy Dye, of Shawnee, and Lori Orsburn, of Shawnee; and stepfather, Floyd Conger, of Wewoka.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Alice Conley, and his brother, Jamie Lay.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Payne officiating. Interment will follow in the Holdenville Cemetery under direction of Fisher Funeral Home, of Holdenville.
Donna Lee
Lifelong Seminole resident Donna Sue (Conner) Lee passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 74.
She was born on September 17, 1934 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Mamie (Eberly) and Jelly Conner.
Donna worked for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator for over 25 years. She then owned and operated Latta Grocery, in Ada, for twelve years. After she sold her business she then went to work for Cable Vision in Seminole. She also helped in the family businesses at Swearingen Funeral Home and Bill Weems Oil, Inc., until her retirement.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter and son-in-law, Timmie and Danny Myers, of Shady Point, Oklahoma; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Connie Weems and Pam and Clark Nowlin, of Seminole; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Glenda Conner, of Seminole; two nieces, Terry Swearingen and husband Bob and Sheila Parks, of Seminole; nephews, Ricky Conner and wife Tammy, Trace Conner and wife Shelly, Derek Henley and wife Danielle, all of Seminole and Damon Henley and wife Rhonda, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Tory Myers and wife Sabra, of Durant, Oklahoma, Tyla Myers, of Shady Point, Shannon and Brad Smith, of Lebanon, Missouri, Lacee and Nick Andrews, of Washington, Oklahoma, Lindsey and Casey Myers, of Washington, Oklahoma; fourteen great grandchildren, Hagan, Gavin and Brighton Smith, Maddison and Jace Myers, Jaxton and Tayte Myers, Tristan and Kylen Myers, and Kensley and Kendon Metcalf. She is also survived by a host of other great nieces, nephews and other family and dear friends.
Donna loved to laugh and make people laugh and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her!
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 30, 2009. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, in Seminole, Oklahoma with Tom Newell officiating.
