Ruby Miller

Pink resident, Ruby Miller, age 82, died June 24, 2009, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was born June 29, 1926, to William D. and Retha Mae (Wintz) Chandler, in Seminole.

She graduated in 1944 from Mountain View High School. On March 2, 1946 she married Kenneth Lee Miller. During the early part of their marriage they lived in Kansas, moving to Del City in 1950 where they lived for 36 years before moving to Pink in 1986.

She worked for several doctors in the Oklahoma City/Mid Del area as a doctor’s assistant. She also worked at the Oklahoma City YMCA as an account representative. She was an active member of the Pink Baptist Church, and enjoyed working in genealogy. She published two family books: "John Miller from Kentucky, a Miller Family History", and "The Chandler Family 1751-1991". She also enjoyed flower gardening, her animals and feeding the birds.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother, Cleve Chandler.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Gary Walker, of Midwest City; three sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Susan Miller, and Jim and Theresa Miller, all of Pink, and Tom and Rissa Miller, of Piedmont; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 29, at Cooper Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mike Collyer, of Pink Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Billie Millican

Billie Laneve Millican, age 73, long-time resident of Konawa, died Thursday, April 09, 2009, at Valley View Regional Hospital, in Ada.

She was born Feb. 10, 1936, in Milburn.

She is survived her brothers, Edd Henson, of Noble and Doyle Millican, of Ada; and sister, Celia Heath, of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Louada (Millican) Henson and one brother, Bobby Millican.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, April 13, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Konawa. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Mary Ann Dillon, Pastor of the Nazarene Church, of Konawa, will officiate.

Pallbearers are Todd Henson, Stephen King, Larry Heath, Ed East, Barry Streetman, and Benny Slusher.

Patricia Minihan

Patricia Maxine Minihan, a native of Seminole, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at Arlington Memorial Hospital, in Arlington, Texas.

Pat was born on Jan. 26, 1931, in Seminole, to Edward and Lona Minihan. She spent many years in Seminole where she worked at First State Bank of Seminole.

She lived the last 16 years of her life in Arlington, Texas near her daughters. She is survived by her three daughters; Theresa Hoyt, Debbie Hemphill and Barbara Bomar; six grandchildren, Christopher Hoyt, Kimberly Collins, Jennifer Finkelson, Dennis Skains, Lindsay and Lauren Bomar; seven great grandchildren; her four brothers, Edward Minihan, of Fort Worth, Texas, Tommy Minihan, of Midland, Texas, Jerry and Larry Minihan, and sister Judy Atyia, of Seminole, and their families.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, of Seminole. She will be buried at the Maple Grove Cemetery. A Rosary service is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole.

Pat was so important in all our lives. She was the thread that wove this tapestry of our families together and will always be loved and remembered. She will rest in peace with loving memories next to her mother and father. Her entire family grieves.

Tommie Mitchell

Tommie Jean Mitchell was born October 13, 1949, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Harvie and Cleo (Cleary) Mitchell, of Maud. The Lord called him home on December 24, 2009, at the age of 60.

He was a graduate of Maud High School and obtained an associates degree from Seminole State Junior College, in 1969. He was a member of Oklahoma Army National Guard.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Jason Hensley, of Broken Arrow; and his ex-wife Karen Mitchell, of Odessa, Texas. He is also survived by one brother, Rickie Mitchell; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Noland and Harlene Long and Judy Mitchell, all of Maud. He is survived by one niece and her husband, Susan and Dustin Wadsworth, of Indianola; one nephew and his wife, Jimmy and Stephanie Brewer, of Maud; three great nephews, Cody Brewer, Jason Brewer and Andrew Brewer, of Maud; one aunt and uncle, Ray and JoAnn Cleary of St. Louis, Oklahoma; as well as numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Jane Mitchell; one brother, Johnny Lewis Mitchell; his grandparents; as well as numerous aunts and uncles.

Donations may be made to the Oklahoma Heart Association.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel.

Donald Montgomery

Donald Wayne "Mutt, " "Don, " "Pa, " Montgomery, 66-year-old lifelong area resident passed from this life Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009 at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston, Texas.

He was born March 6, 1942 in Earlsboro, to parents N.O. Montgomery and Violet O. (Houtz) Montgomery.

Don graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1960 where he played football and baseball making all conference and state in football. He was also a proud member of the Tecumseh Alumni. Following High School he was offered a sports scholarship but declined so he could serve in the United States National Guard.

Through out the years Don had worked at Fred Jones Auto in Oklahoma City and at Tinker Field Air Force Base. However, he enjoyed his latest job, working as an oilfield pumper in the Saint Louis, Maud and Asher area. He had a great time with the people he had the opportunity to know in the oilfield. His other interest included his love for the farm life and his love of animals from horses to puppies.

Don is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Maleea and her husband TyRay Brock and Matonna and her husband Mark Haynes all of Maud; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Maxine and her husband Charles Brooks, Helen Montgomery and Irma Montgomery, all of Tecumseh; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Otho and his wife Patsy Montgomery, of Tecumseh, and Marion and his wife Nina Montgomery, of Shawnee; three grandchildren, Emral Layn Haynes, Matraya Erralee Haynes and TyLee Fern Brock, all of Maud; one aunt, Emma and her husband Bill Adler, of Stillwater; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and dear friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, N.O. and Violet Montgomery; one brother, Cecil Montgomery; three sisters, Evelyn Gamble, Roberta Cotton and Cora Mae Strehlow.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Trinity Baptist Church, in Maud. Glen Williams will officiate the service with Military Honors concluding the service.

Honorary Bearers will be: Jr. Williams, Robert Lowden, Greg Beverage, Bill Bruce, Brandon Potts, TyRay Brock, Mark Haynes, and all of his friends that knew and loved him from the oil field.

Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time.

Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.

Harvey Moore

Harvey Dean Moore was born October 10, 1934, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He lived his whole life in Pottawatomie County. After graduating from Shawnee High School, he was employed as an Assistant Manager at Humpty Dumpty Grocery.

On November 14, 1953 Harvey was united in marriage to Carletta Brown. They had two children. After moving to Prague in 1960, Harvey was employed at the First National Bank (BancFirst). While attending church at Prague he was a Deacon, Bible School Teacher, and Church Treasurer. He was a member of the Prague Lions Club for several years.

Upon retiring, Harvey was an Executive Vice President and on the Board of Directors at the bank. He then joined his wife in her advertising business with Newton Manufacturing Company. Harvey placed his last order six days before retiring from this life on November 15, 2009. The day before his passing was Harvey and Carletta's 56th Wedding Anniversary. He was a member of the church of Christ at Little for over 20 years since moving back to Shawnee, he has been a member of the Central church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Mamie Moore.

He was survived by his wife, Carletta Moore; two daughters, Betty Keesee and husband Tony Keesee, and Janet Ince and husband David Ince; four grandchildren, Kayla Keesee, Kyle Keesee, Jared Ince, and Janaye Ince; one brother, Harold Moore; sister-in-law and husband, Earline and Glen Mayes; brother-in-law and wife, Howard and Lavonne Brown; mother-in-law, Louella Brown; 4 nephews; and 2 nieces.

Services will be Monday, November 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Walker Funeral Service Chapel, burial will follow at Fairview, officiating the service will be: John Henley, Dwayne Dennis, Ted Moore, and Tony Keesee.

Memorial contributions can be made to: MD Anderson Cancer Center, Attn: Dr. Jonathon Trent, 1400 Holcombe Blvd Unit 450, Houston, TX 77030. In the memo line of checks put: Dr. Trent’s Research for GIST Sarcoma Cancer, in memory of Harvey Moore.

Raymond Moore

Former Seminole resident Raymond Frank Moore died Thursday, April 9, 2009 in Inola, at the age of 79.

He was born Dec. 10, 1929 in Duncan, to Milton Monroe and Bessie Edith Moore.

He married Bernice Opal (Ryan) on Sept. 3, 1955 in Maud. He worked for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as a food and drug investigator for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Moore, of Inola; daughter, Christine Bennett, of Tulsa; brother, David Moore, of Tulsa; sisters, Katherine Frazier, of Leon, Lois Murr, of Muskogee, Ruth Horton, of Tulsa, Dorothy Murr, of Muskogee, Cora Kammerdiner, of Longview, Texas and Virginia Roper, of Burneyville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Bessie Moore and two brothers, Jack and Leroy Moore.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church. in Inola, with Rev. Ron Hay officiating.

Virda Moore

Virda Maxine Moore, age 74, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, in Seminole.

She was born Oct. 7, 1934, in Haskell, to Otis and Alda P. (Rodgers) Webster.

She was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant for over 35 years where she retired from Oakridge Nursing Home, in Wewoka. She was a member of the Sheriff’s Association and Nurse’s Association. She was also an honorary member of the Rogues Motorcycle Club in Seminole and Lawton.

She is survived by two daughters; Marcia Lee Hensley, of Shawnee, and Brenda Sue Teel, of Muskogee; step-son, Benny Houck, of Seminole; brother, Herbert A. Webster, of Seminole; and two sisters, Dolly Snyder, of California and Carrie Magle, of Austin, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband David Moore, three sisters; Geneva, Lula and Lorene, four brothers; Gene, Alvin, Roy and J.R. and one son, Alvin Eugene Teel.

Caskets bearers will be her great grandsons. Honorary Bearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at the Little Chapel at Little Cemetery. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery located on Hwy 99 just North of Seminole.

Algernon Morgan Jr.

Funeral Services for former Sasakwa resident Algernon Geneice Morgan Jr. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Bird Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Cooper, Rev. Houston Tiger, and Rev. Dorsey Nero officiating and interment to follow at High Springs Baptist Church.

He was born Jan. 23, 1958, in Oklahoma City, to Algernon Genice Morgan Sr. and Irene Berryhill. He attendant Sasakwa School and Tulsa Welding School. He worked for Wilson Steel Co. as a Welder for a number of years. He was a member of Bird Creek Baptist Church and the Don Palmer Band.

He is survived by two children, Justin Morgan and Rebecca Morgan; brothers and sisters, Malcolm Morgan, Alta Tiger, Phelan Morgan, Jimmy Ray Cully, and Bernice Freeman all of Tulsa, Alvena Ayala, of Edmond, Richard Morgan, of Parsons, Tenn., Carol Dee Bierman, of Shawnee, Margaret Keith, of Jenks; and half-brother Eddie Freeman, of Duncan.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother David Morgan, in 1988.

Zelda Morgan

Zelda Mae Morgan, age 78, died May 18, 2009 in Holdenville.

She was born to Titusie Carpitcher and Lona Harjo in Seminole County. She was a lifetime member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa.

She is survived by her children, Leonard Morgan; Gilbert Morgan and Melvin Morgan, all of Tulsa, David Morgan, of Holdenville, Hepcey Yahola, of Wewoka, Maurice Morgan, and Edgar Morgan, both of Holdenville, Amy Morgan, of Louisiana; brothers and sisters, Effie Harjo and Lewis Carpitcher, both of Wewoka, Cully Carpitcher and Alice Walters, both of Sasakwa; and seventeen grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Morgan; parents; grandson, Lloyd Morgan; three brothers, Alfred, Sam, and Andrew Carpitcher; and sister, Liza Coon.

Family services are at her home in Holdenville on Wednesday afternoon. Thursday, May 21, 2009 a procession will take Morgan to Rock Springs Baptist Church in Sasakwa for wake services and the funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2009. Interment will follow at Rock Springs Church Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by Rev. Jimsey Harjo and Rev. Ed Bear.

Pallbearers are Michael Yahola, Robert, John, Josh, and Timothy Morgan and Adam Yahola. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Yahola and Sampson Morgan.

Larry Motherspau

Larry "Uncle Bubba" Motherspau, 52, Seminole resident died Friday, July 31, 2009 at his home in Seminole.

Larry was born on December 31, 1956 in Dayton, Ohio to Harold Edward and Ella Easter (McCarl) Motherspau.

Larry moved to Seminole from Whitney, Texas 20 years ago.

He was a long-haul truck driver working for Miller Truck Lines in Stroud, Oklahoma and TDC Trucking in Missouri. Larry worked until his illness prevented him too.

He was known as the "Texas Poor boy" while in his truck.

Larry loved his family, eating cheeseburgers and mashed potatoes and watching the Si-Fi channel.

Larry loved visiting with his friends and family at every opportunity,

Larry married Deborah Diane Hutton on July 3, 1982 in Whitney, Texas.

His parents precede Larry in death, a sister Dorothy White a loving Father-in-law Jim Hutton, and Gerald Motherspau.

His loving wife survives him: Deborah Diane Motherspau of the home, one son Matthew Edward Motherspau of Lexington, and his wife Jessica of Seminole; and two brothers: Victor Webb and Jack Childress of Whitney, Texas.

Larry always had the special love and dedication by his three sisters: Roberta Cabellero and her husband Santiago of Lafayette, La., Dorakay Richmond of Lafayette, La., Debbie Saylor and her husband Larry of Whitney, Texas; other sisters include: Rebecca White of Whitney, Texas and Nancy Webb of Whitney, Texas, Kim Gordon and husband Ed of Georgia.

Larry is also survived by three grandchildren Baylea Nicole Motherspau, McKenna Marie Motherspau and Amaya Laris Motherspau all of Seminole; and his grandmother Marjorie Lester of Seminole.

Larry is also survived by his babies, his sisters-in-law, Le’ Robbye Winterscheid and Husband Terry of Seminole, Jamie Marie Curtis and Husband Ron of Wewoka, Tori Dawn Phillips and Husband Sonny of Seminole, and a wonderful mother-in-law Dee Ann Gurley and husband Roy of Seminole, who always made sure Larry had his good breakfast.

Larry loved all his nieces and nephews scattered throughout Ohio and Texas and was very fond of his nieces and nephews that lived here in the Seminole area; Kyndall Winterscheid, Aaron Winterscheid, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Winterscheid, Tyler Hutton and Issac Winterscheid, Ashley Brinsfield, Yasha Brinsfield, MaCayla Brinsfield and Jacob Brinsfield. Great niece Ka’Leah Simpkins and Great nephew, Zehrehne Simpkins and his special dear friends, Danny Hannabass, J.D. McCarley, Papa John Pierson and his wife Brenda, Wade, Jan, and Carol, Dee and Diana Wilkerson and Chris and Earl Burkett, Larry Saylor.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 8, 2009 at God’s Assembly at 701 Boren Blvd in Seminole, with Rev. Gus Monreal officiating.
