Janet Scheller

Longtime Seminole resident, Janet Kay (Murphy) Scheller passed from this life on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Integris Baptist Hospital, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Janet was born to John B. and Nannie P (Shook) Murphy on August 25, 1947 in Altus, Oklahoma. She married Michael L. Scheller on February 15, 1976 in Altus.

Janet was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to read her Bible and spend time with her church family. She also enjoyed Word Search puzzles, baking and doing the "shuffle".

Janet leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Michael, of the home; her mother, Nannie Pearl Murphy, of Altus, Oklahoma; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian Scheller and wife Jennifer, of Sterling, Alaska; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lana (Craft) Pyle and husband Stan, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Stacy (Tyra) Young and husband Jim, of Seminole, Oklahoma; one sister, Sheridan Murphy, of Altus, Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Jerry and Sarah Scheller, of Seminole, Oklahoma, Eddie and Joy Dell Scheller, of Sayer, Oklahoma and Mary Funderburg, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Dacya Estrada and husband John, Whitney Pyle, Tyler Johnson and Sam Scheller; and two great grandchildren, Talon Estrada and Taleigh Estrada.

Janet was preceded in death by her father, John Benson Murphy; one daughter, Pamela Kay Tyra; one sister, Bonita Combs; and one grandson, Micah Scheller.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2009 at Immanuel Fellowship Church, in Seminole, Oklahoma with Pastor Danny Fisher and Pastor Tim Tate officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery north of Seminole.

Viewing will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 29.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Dorothy Schiller

Seminole resident Dorothy Ann (Johnson) Schiller, age 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Seminole Estates Nursing Center.

She was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Seminole, to Captolia "C.T." and Martha J. (Hall) Johnson. She lived in Midwest City, moved to Branson, and back to Seminole some four years ago.

She graduated from Varnum High School, was in the Civil Service working at Tinker Air Force Base as a PX Supervisor and retiring after 20 years of service. She also was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Seminole.

She is survived by her brother, Howard Johnson, of Sallisaw.

She is preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Schiller; parents; five brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 2 p.m. in Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Ray Shultz

Ray Ernest Shultz, 82-year-old Wewoka resident passed from this life Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at his home, in Wewoka. He was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Olney, Ill., to parents Frank Ernest Shultz and Nora (Curtis) Shultz.

Ray served in the United States Navy earning the rank of coxswain USNR. He also received the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 3 Stars, the Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal.

Ray married Willene Pricer on Jan. 19, 1955, in Pawnee. She preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 2006.

Ray and Willene both worked for Joe Mill’s Well Service, in Seminole. Ray retired in 1988 after many years of dedicated service.

Survivors include his loving family, three sons and daughters-in-law, Rob Shultz, of Wewoka, Doug and Pat Shultz, of Oklahoma City, and Brad and Tammie Shultz, of Prague; one daughter, Raylene Shultz, of Wewoka; one brother, O.E. "Bud" Shultz, of Noble, Ill.; two sisters, Helen Beam, of Ashland, Ill. and Ruth Fulk, of Ashland, Ill.; two granddaughters, Megan Shultz, of Prague and Kara Shultz, of Oklahoma City; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Little Cemetery, North of Seminole. Rev. David Pollard will officiate the service. The United States Navy Honor Guard will provide military Honors.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole.

Casey Schumacher

The world has lost a compassionate, loving free spirit with the passing of our beloved daughter and sister, Casey Lynn Schumacher, on Jan. 6, 2009, in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

Casey loved music, outdoor adventure and travel. She experienced God through the beauty and wonder of nature, especially the majesty of the mountains. This led her to live in simpler, scenic and mountainous areas of North Carolina, Colorado, California, and Montana. Casey was sensitive, generous and caring, and loved to nurture and minister people in need.

Casey was born Nov. 8, 1984, in Dallas, Texas, raised in University Park and was a life long member of University Park United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, William E. Bishop and is survived by her parents, Dr. John and Amy Schumacher; sisters, Lora and Sarah; maternal grandmother, LaVere Bishop, of Seminole; fraternal grandparents, Commelite and George H. Schumacher, of Rockport, Ind., along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, in Texas, on Northwest Highway. Services will be at University Park United Methodist Church on Monday, Jan. 12, at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Casey Lynn Schumacher Mission and Outreach Fund at University Park UMC, 4024 Caruth Boulevard, Dallas, Texas 75225 or on-line at www.upumc.org.

May Scott

May Sue (Foster) Scott, age 55, and long-time resident of Konawa, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at Carl Albert Indian Health System Hospital, in Ada.

She was born March 11, 1954, in Konawa, to Katherine (Harjo) and Issac Newton Foster. She married Luke Scott, and she was a seamstress for Michael’s Casuals, in Konawa. She was a member of the High Springs Baptist Church, of Konawa.

She is survived by her husband, Luke Scott, of the home; son, Nathan Cobb, of Konawa; daughters, Nadine Gattenby and Charlene Cobb, both of Konawa; mother, Katherine Foster, of Seminole; brothers, Allen Foster, of Harjo, Herman Foster, of Bowlegs, Matthew Foster, of Edmond, Adam Foster, of Konawa, Issac Foster, Jr., of Seminole, and Bill Foster, of Konawa; and one grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at High Springs Baptist Church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Konawa. Burial will follow at the Foster Family Cemetery in Konawa. Houston Tiger and Dorsey Nero will officiate.

Pallbearers will be: Robert Wood, Harry Douglas, Jason Tiger, Johnny Micco, George Johnson, and Barton Joe Looney.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: John Glover, Michael Smith, Cody Barker, Shelby Gattenby, Aaron Ingram, and Matt Harjo.

Wanda Scott

Graveside services for former Konawa resident Wanda Tipton Scott are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at the Konawa City Cemetery. T.J. Hawkins will officiate.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa.

Scott died Saturday, October 10, 2009, at the age of 75.

She was born to Etta (Troutman) and Isaac Leander Walker Tipton on November 18, 1933 in Wewoka.

She attended Konawa High School, and married Henry C. Scott on July 17, 1951, in Konawa.

Scott worked at Tinker AFB and retired in 2006.

She worked in building 3001 as Machinist Security, and she wired B52 bombers and worked with Cobalt.

Scott is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Scott, and one grandson, Christopher A. Caywood.

She is survived by one daughter, Connie Caywood; one son, Michael Scott; one sister, Georgia Hoskins; one brother, Tommy Joe Williams of California; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Bob Guthrie, Ken Daniels, Archie Hall, and Robbie Wood.

Honorary bearers are Michael Scott and Larry Scott.

Jesse Self

Longtime Wewoka resident Jesse "Red" Self, age 82 years passed away Friday, March 6, 2009 in Holdenville, Oklahoma.

Jesse "Red" Self was born June 11, 1926, in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Nathan and Mae (Thurman) Self.

He went to New Lima Schools and worked for a number of years as a tool pusher for Sloan Drilling, of Seminole, Oklahoma. He loved fishing, gardening and those who were most important to him.

Red married Dorothy Jean Smith, March 15, 1957, in Ada, Oklahoma.

He was a member of the Church of Christ, in Wewoka. He loved his family, and dog Quincy along with gardening and being with family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents; sisters, Kathleen "Kitten" Gibson, Gertie Ong, Lillie McDowell; and brothers, Andrew Self, Toy Self and Dee Self.

Survivors included his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Jean, of the Home; son, "Wes" Self and wife Kristi; granddaughters, Kayle Self and Logan Self; sister, Ida Nelms; cousin, Chic Self; nieces and nephews, Linda Lunsford, Gene McDowell, Joyce England, Charles Vernon Self, Jerry Self, Mike Self, and Ina Marie Mitchell; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be: Bill Mitchell, Bert McDowell, Jerry Self, Mike Self, Dan Smith, and Roy Self.

Funeral arrangements are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Wewoka Church of Christ with Aaron Alsbrook officiating and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Donations maybe made to Cysstic Fibrosis Foundation.

Elsie Seyfert

Elsie (Pulliam) Seyfert, 81 year-old lifelong Seminole resident died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at Baptist Hospital, in Oklahoma City. She was born May 25, 1927, in Haywood, to Willis Marion Pulliam and Melissa (McCann) Pulliam.

She married Raymond Robert Seyfert, on Oct. 5, 1965, in Seminole. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1993.

Seyfert was a homemaker and was affiliated with the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include ten sons, Harold Loving, of Seminole, David Loving, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Edward Loving, of Seminole, Bobby Loving, of Oklahoma City, Gary Loving, of Seminole, Tommy Seyfert, of Wellington, Kan. Raymond Seyfert, Jr., of Colorado Springs, Colo., Glen Seyfert, of Little Rock, Ark., Charlie Seyfert, of Wichita, Kan., and Gary Seyfert, of Wichita, Kan.; four daughters, Melissa Odi, of Seminole, Ramona Jenkins, of Seminole, Georgia Harris, of Davis, Carolyn Bruce, of Seminole; a granddaughter; brother, Joe Pulliam, of Seminole; 29 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Raymond Robert Seyfert, Sr.; three brothers, Lee Pulliam, Robert Pulliam and Rose Moore; sister, Beulah Harrison; and one grandson.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole. Rev. Tommy Williams and Carol Walker will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole.

Bobby Sharp

Bobby Joe Sharp, of Cromwell, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009.

He was born March 26, 1976 in Wewoka to Daniel and Helen Morphis Sharp. He attended Butner High School and worked as an handyman.

He married Heather Ryals June 26, 2002, in Van Buren, Ark.

He is survived by his wife, Heather, of the home; children, Kenneth, Jennifer and Britney Sharp, all of Cromwell; mother and father, of Wewoka; brothers and sisters, Kathy Keith, Raymond Sharp, Patty Merritt, of McComb, Wanda Carder, of McLoud, Donald R. Brown Jr., of California, Rhonda Bollinger, of Dallas, Texas, Tracy Brown, of Oklahoma City, Richard Brown, of Meeker, and Kim Cottrell, of Wewoka.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that monetary donations be made to the family to help with funeral expenses, send to Kathy Keith at 618 South Okfuskee, in Wewoka, 74884.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at House of Prayer Church, in Wewoka, with Pastors Donald Brown and Bill Chesser officiating. Burial to follow at Little Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be; Johnny Morphis, Gervis Morphis, Frank Underwood, Timothy Sharp, Edward Dodson and Matthew Goad. Honorary Bearers will be; Keith Carder, Jon Keith, Richard Underwood, James Goad, Donald Sharp and Amos Morphis.

Janet Sharp

Janet Sue (Bush) Sharp, age 61, and long-time Konawa resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Valley View Regional Hospital, in Ada.

She was born March 16, 1948, in Weleetka, to Elizabeth (Montgomery) and Joseph Bush.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Sharp, of Tulsa and Michael Sharp, of Konawa; daughter, Keri Snow, of Konawa; brother, David Bush, of Tulsa; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Joseph Bush.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., on Thursday, September 24, at Vamoosa Cemetery (East of Konawa) under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Kevin Duck will officiate.
