Delores Darlene Sheffield passed away Friday, April 17, 2009, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She enjoyed the Easter weekend surrounded by her family and hunting Easter eggs with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Delores was born November 10, 1936, in Ferris, Oklahoma, to parents Willie and Ollie (Seaborn) Hall. She attended Ferris Elementary School and graduated from Atoka High School, where she was a member of the basketball team.
She married Raymond Sheffield, August 10, 1957, in Durant, Oklahoma. To this marriage three children were born.
Delores moved to Wewoka in 1963. She worked for Walker Animal Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of a bowling team, winning numerous trophies. Delores loved to work in her yard, make crafts, play cards and dominoes, and spend time with her family. She was baptized in the First Baptist Church, of Wewoka.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Sheffield, of the home; children, Patricia Ware, of Tulsa, Darlene Allison and husband Jim, and Tony Sheffield and wife Paige, all of Wewoka; grandchildren, Ronnie Allison and wife Misty, of Seminole, Joshua Sheffield and Wendi, of Moore, and Tara Sheffield, of Wewoka; great grandchildren, Bradley Stockstill, of Tulsa, Mackenzie Allison, of Seminole, and Jayce Michael Sheffield, of Moore; brothers, Elmer (Mutt) Hall and Charles Hall and wife Joyce, of Lane, Oklahoma; sisters, Bessie Weaver, of Liberty, Texas and Alma Andsager and husband Marvin, of Shawnee, Oklahoma: brothers and sister-in-laws, Larry and Gloria Sheffield, Jack and LuAnn Sheffield, Doyle and Sharon Sheffield, Curtis and Mary Sheffield, of Lane, Oklahoma, Leonard and Jane Sheffield, and Barbara and Gene Broome of Atoka, Forrest and Patsy Sheffield, of Tupelo, Miss., Lennis Frederick, of Durant, Dorothy and Earl Fink, of Owasso, and Francis Hall, of Ferris; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Delores is preceded in death by her parents; 2 grandsons, Jerrid Ray Sheffield and Jayce Ray Sheffield; one sister, Lorene Wade; brother, Ernest Hall; sister-in-law, Janet Hall; and brother-in-law, Clyde Sheffield.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2009, in the First Baptist Church, of Wewoka. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, in Wewoka. Officiating will be Michael Vallandingham and Forrest Sheffield.
Pallbearers will be: Curtis Sheffield, Doyle Sheffield, Larry Sheffield, Jack Sheffield, Gene Broome, Jim Smart and John Smart.
Honorary Pallbearers include Forrest Sheffield and Leonard Sheffield.

Raymond Sheffield
Longtime Seminole County rancher Raymond Lewis "Ray" Sheffield passed away with his family by his side Monday, December 7, 2009 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 76 years.
Ray Sheffield was born January 8, 1933, in Lane, Oklahoma, to Leonard and Florence (Butler) Sheffield. He graduated from Lane High School and went on to receive an Associates Degree from East Central University. He retired from Oklahoma State Highway Transportation Department, as assistance resident manager.
He served in the US Army from April 1953 to April 1955.
Ray married Delores Darlene Hall, August 10, 1957, in Durant, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death, on April 2009.
Ray was a member of First Baptist Church, Wewoka, and the Men's Prayer Breakfast. He was a former member of Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association. He loved his ranching and raising a garden.
He was preceded in death by his wife Delores; parents; brother, Clyde Sheffield; and grandsons, Jayce Ray Sheffield and Jerid Ray Sheffield.

Martha Shields
Funeral Services for Wewoka resident Martha Shields, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Wewoka Indian Presbyterian Church with burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
Wake Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Stout-Phillips Chapel.
The body will be taken to the Church Sunday morning.
She was born March 11, 1928 in Limestone, Oklahoma to Willie and Elsie (Yahola) Harrison. She married Anderson Shields in 1948, in Wewoka.
She was a member of Wewoka Indian Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Marlon Shields, and Ricky Shields, both of Wewoka.

Anna Shirley
Anna Lee Griffis Shirley died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, in Carrolton, Texas. She was born Nov 2, 1913, Amity Ark., to Horace Benjamin and Margaret Adelaide Griffis. She married Joe King Shirley, Aug. 31, 1940, in Shawnee.
She graduated from Ada High School in 1931. She received her BS in Speech, English, Dramatics, from East Central University, in 1934 and Completed her Master’s in Teaching from ECU, in 1956.
During the 1930’s, she taught Speech, English, and Drama at Fitzhugh, Asher, Maud and Konawa public schools. She was also in the United States Navy, San Diego, Ca., during WWII. She taught First Grade and Kindergarten in the Konawa Public Schools from 1956 through her retirement, in 1979.
While in college, in Ada, she was the organist for the First United Methodist Church. She later served as organist for the First United Methodist Church, in Konawa, for more than 30-years.
She is survived by her three children, Joe Shirley, of Coppell Texas; Frank Shirley, of Konawa, and Mary Delane Shirley, of Lakeside, Ariz.; three grandchildren, James R. Shirley, of Naples, Italy, Lori Taylor, Norfolk, Va., and Angela Hawpe, of Oklahoma City.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Haskell Griffis, of Ada.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday Oct. 17, at the First United Methodist Church, in Konawa.
Carl Shivers
Services have been set for Carl David Shivers for 1 p.m. March 25, at the Stratford Free Will Baptist Church, with graveside memorial services at 4 p.m. at Little Cemetery, on Highway 99, in Seminole County.
Carl was born Sept. 14, 1925 to Arthur and Cora Shivers, in Okfuskee County, Paden, Oklahoma.
Carl went to meet the Lord on Monday, March 23, at his home.
Carl served in the infantry of the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946, achieving the rank of one of the youngest First Sergeants. While in Germany he received numerous medals and commendations, including two bronze service stars.
He married Myrtle Watkins on June 26, 1946 and to this union four children were born.
God called him into the ministry in August 1948 to preach the word of God for the Free Will Baptist denomination. During that time, he pastored twelve churches, which included Paden, Vansant, Prague, Sante Fe, Calvin, Stratford, Springhill, Gaar Corner, Mustang, Campground, Cedar Grove, and Memorial of Sulphur.
He helped organize and start three churches, Prague, Okemah, and Stroud. He enjoyed preaching for Free Will Baptist and was a staunch belier in the Bible. Currently he was a member of the Stratford Free Will Baptist Church.
Along with pastoring and preaching, he was a farmer, rancher, oil field pumper, auctioneer, and real estate salesman. The ministry was always first in his life.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrtle; daughter, Janet Elmore and husband Charles; three sons, Fred Shivers and wife Debora, David Shivers and his wife Teresa, and Phillip and his wife Mary; ten grandchildren, Jeff Elmore and wife Amy, Julie Savage and husband Paul, Jennifer Cary and husband Leroy, Tracy Shivers, Karie Brown and husband Dustin, Kristy Null and husband Jason, Derek Shivers, Tyson Shivers, Abbra Shivers, and Molly Shivers; eight great-grandchildren, Riley, Garrett, and Cody Elmore, Cade, Brodie, and Brynn Savage, and Dylan and Kynzee Brown; two sister-in-laws, Wanda Shivers and Lila Jane Miller; a brother-in-law, Wes Watkins; and other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Gladys Shores
Gladys "Ruby" (Boatman) Hawpe Shores, age 89, long-time resident of Konawa, died Monday, March 16, 2009, at the Meeker Nursing Center, in Meeker.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 at the Konawa Cemetery, in Konawa. Ancil Simmons will officiate.
She was born Feb. 21, 1920, in Rolla, Mo., to Marshal Boatman and Fern (Richardson) Boatman. She was an antique deal and gardener.
She is survived by her husband, Cliff W. Shores Jr., of Konawa; son, Delbert Hawpe, of Muskogee; daughters, Venita Simmons, of Lindsay, Geneva Kelps, of Seminole, and Anita Stover, of Midwest City; brother, Gus Boatman, of Ft. Morgan, Colo.; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded by her parents, Marshal and Fern Boatman; her first husband, Alvin Hawpe; son, Wayne A. Hawpe; and brother, Verl Boatman.
Eunice Short
Eunice Marie Short, of Wewoka, passed away Friday, October 30, 2009, at the age of 94 years.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Stout-Phiillips Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Amanda BP Lockwood officiating and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
She was born May 22, 1915 in Stuart, Oklahoma to Thomas and Mary (Webb) Self.
She was a hairdresser many years in Wewoka and a member of The First United Methodist Church, Wewoka.
Eunice married Gene Short, June 12, 1946, and he preceded her in death, February 1999. He precedes her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Floise Tow and Elzora Abercrombie; one brother, Alvin Self; and nephew Lenville Self.
Survivors included nephews, Bob Abercrombie, of Pardise, Calif.; and Elton Hayes, of Clovis, Calif.; nieces, Peggy Snow, of Holdenville, and Bettie St. Mary, Sparks, Nev.
Pallbearers will be Randy Herrod, Chris Herrod, James Self, Greg Cole, James " Tut" Herrod, and Mark Self Jr.

Matilda Silas
Matilda Ann (Lehman) Silas, age 69, and long-time resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2009.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, October 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Konawa. Fr. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. will officiate. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jody Johnson, Steven Fry, Coby Lehman, Taylor Lehman, Levi Lehman, and Justin Morrison.
Honorary Pallbearers are Josh Lesher, Robert Lowden, Shane Coker, and Bobby Lehman.
A Wake service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Konawa.
Matilda was born on March 10, 1940, at Sacred Heart in Konawa, to Cecelia (Nona) and Willie A. Lehman. She was married to Joseph Kuestersteffen and later to Kenneth Silas (both whom are deceased). Matilda lived in the Konawa area for most of her life, and she worked as a home health aide. Matilda was the kind of person who never met a stranger.
She will be missed by her three sons, Daryl Kuestersteffen and wife, LaDonna, of Konawa, Oklahoma, Michael Kuestersteffen and wife, Vicki, of Norman, Oklahoma, and Sam Silas and wife, Marteen, of Ada, Oklahoma; two daughters, JoAnn Johnson and husband, Mickey, of Konawa, and Susie Huggins and husband, Ted, of Konawa; one brother, Tommy Lehman and wife, Kay, of Konawa; twelve grandchildren, LaDawna and Steven Fry, Jody Johnson, Laura, Hilary, Ciara, Briana, and Braden Kuestersteffen, Whitney, Alisha, and Tyler Huggins, Zachary and Josh Silas; and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Dylan Fry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecelia and Willie Lehman; two husbands, Joseph Kuestersteffen and Kenneth Silas; three brothers, Billy Ray, Bob, and David Lehman.
Anna Simmons
Longtime Seminole resident Anna Loyce Prince Simmons went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, in Seminole, at home with her husband, Sonny, at her side.
She was born June 13, 1941, to parents Leon John and Aline Loyce (Kirby) Prince Thrasher, in Sulphur.
Anna and Sonny (Hugh Sonny Simmons) were married Nov. 2, 1957, in Chandler. She graduated from Seminole High School with the class of 1959.
She worked as the office manager and bookkeeper for years, at Thrasher Lab, in Seminole.
Anna was a member of Immanuel Fellowship Church, in Seminole, where she was active in the Nursing Home Ministry, as well as many other ministries involving children. Miss Anna was much loved by all children and since this past summers Vacation Bible School, at Immanuel Fellowship, she has been lovingly known as "Miss Bear."
She volunteered at "Agape House", a ministry of Immanuel Fellowship, in downtown Seminole.
Anna leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Sonny Simmons, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Tamey Simmons, of Park Hill and Justin and Jill Simmons, of Moore; grandsons, Clayton and Bryce Simmons, of Park Hill; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tammy Dianna Simmons; son, Danny Michael Simmons, and brother, Leon Prince.
Anna spent her time with us caring for family, friends, and those in need within the community.
A celebration of Anna’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, at the home of Bob and Sherweeta Benn, located l mile west of Seminole State College, and 1 1/2 mile north, on the east side of the road.
