Mabel Vulgamore

Mabel Vulgamore, 86, longtime Seminole resident died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home. Mrs. Vulgamore was born Jan. 30, 1922, in Canton, to John Wesley "Whitey" and Susie (Boring) Seifried.

She came to Seminole at the age of 5, where she has been ever since. She married Loyd Vulgamore, on Nov. 1, 1941, in Seminole and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2000.

She attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School. Mabel was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church where she was a faithful and active member. She was a homemaker, loved her flowers and always keep her yard beautifully landscaped, and loved being with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Vulgamore is survived by her son and daughter in law, Loyd and Paulette Vulgamore, Jr., of Seminole; One brother John Wesley Seifried, Jr., of Seminole; her grandchildren, Joe Randall Vulgamore and Angela Armstrong; and 5 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Loyd Vulgamore, Sr., and a brother Albert Seifried.

Graveside services will be Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at 10 a.m., at Rest haven Cemetery, in Seminole, with Rev. Allen Wood officiating.

Emma Waggoner

Graveside services for Oakridge Nursing Home resident Emma Mae "Sassy" Waggoner are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2009 at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka with Rev. Jimmy Freeman officiating.

Waggoner died Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 in Oklahoma City at the age of 83.

She was born July 1, 1926 in Dougherty to T.W. and Nor (Drew) Waggoner.

Sassy as she was well known to her friends and Colleagues at Oakridge Nursing Home, enjoyed all fields trips, playing bingo and working part-time in the dietary department of Oakridge

She was that person always with a smile on her face and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.

Judy Walker

Judy Mae Walker died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at the Wewoka Nursing Home, in Wewoka. She was born April 28, 1918 in Hanna, to Timmy Jackson and Susie Jesse.

She attended school in Hanna for four years. She was a Sister’s Leader of Many Springs Baptist Church and was baptized on Nov. 11, 1925, at Hilebee Church by Jim Burgess.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Powell, J.B. Harjo, and Robert Walker; and son, James "Nuskey" Powell.

She is survived by her children, Theresa Ahgoom, of Holdenville; Mary Powell-Bowers, of Oklahoma City; Dennis Powell, of El Reno; Ronnie Powell and Darrell Powell, both of Shawnee; Vanessa Powell and Brenda Powell, both of Seminole; sixteen grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of brothers and sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at Many Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmie Anderson, Reverend Frank Moppin and Reverend Houston Tiger officiating. Interment will be at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Chris Powell, Tommy Kalinich, Mekko Kalinich, Bunny Powell, Victor Bear, and James Jimboy.

William Walker

William "Wallace" Walker, age 73, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Valley View Hospital, in Ada.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at the Assembly of God Church, in Konawa, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Konawa. Burial will follow at Dora Cemetery. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate.

Walker was born on March 1, 1935, in Dora, to Rex C. Walker and Johnnie Francis (Dollar) Walker. He married Mary Jo Bridgeman on Jan. 15, 1965, in Fayetteville, Ark. He worked as an oilfield pumper and was an honorary member of the Brooksville Voluntary Fire Department. He was an army veteran.

Wallace is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Walker, of the home; son, Billy Walker, of Konawa; two daughters, Tammie Glover, of Konawa, and Tamela Walker, of Elk City; four brothers, R. C. Walker, of Ft. Worth, Texas, John Murel Walker, of Konawa, C.O. Walker, of Aspermont, Texas, and Victor Walker, of Konawa; sister, Virginia Elizabeth Walker Biela, of Ft. Worth, Texas; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Johnnie Walker and by one brother, James Willard Walker.

Pallbearers are Sean Walker, Jarrod Glover, John Glover, David Green, Otis Gilbert, and Frankie Walker. Honorary pallbearers are Gene Walker, James Mullen, and Alfred Robertson.

Carl Wallace

Carl Efford Wallace passed away on March 12, 2009 in Dearborn Heights, Michigan at the age of 70.

He was born on March 22, 1938 in McLeansboro, Illinois to Carl and Jewel (Sullivan) Wallace.

He was a welder and served in the United States Navy for many years.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Darlene Wallace, of Seminole; nephews, Jeff Wallace and Danny Wallace and Randy Novotney; nieces, Whitney Wallace, Mona Novotney, and Connie Novotney.

He is also survived by several cousins, Virginia Nicholson Martin, Bud, Jim, Johnny and Carolyn Sullivan, Floyd, Betty and Charley Davenport Jr., Jackie, Johnny and Cherokee Higgenbotham, Mike and John Lane, Judy Kay Powell, Sue Muse, Dorothy Bruster, and Peggy Berridge; and one aunt, Pearl Lane.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Jewel Wallace; brother, Dan Wallace; and sister, Elita Grey Novotney.

A visitation is scheduled for Monday, March 30, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home, with a burial to take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Carey Walsh

Longtime Konawa resident, Carey Ann (Hays) Walsh, age 33, died Monday, June 8, 2009, at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, June 12, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Konawa. Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate. Assisting will be Rev. Bruce Christian. Burial will follow at Dora Cemetery, in Konawa.

Walsh was born on April 19, 1976, to Richard Hays and Sue (Hudson) Ray, in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Latta High School in 1995, and married Jeremy Walsh on Jan. 12, 2004, in Hot Springs, Ark.

She is survived by her husband, Jeremy Walsh, of Konawa; daughter, Katy Walsh, of Konawa; mother, Sue Ray of Blanchard; brother, Phillip Hudson, of Newcastle; and sister, Tamaria Horton, of Blanchard.

She is preceded in death by her father, Richard Hays; brother, Kelly Dale Coats; and grandparents.

Beverly Walters

Beverly Ann (Ash-Landrith) Walters, age 66, former Seminole and Shawnee resident died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, in Harrah.

She was born Aug. 3, 1943 in Albany, Calif., to George Wyatt Ash and Adrian Landrith.

Following High School she took several courses in college at both Oklahoma Baptist University and Oklahoma Christian University. She worked as a bank teller and had also worked in retail sales before she became an executive secretary.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeanie Fuller, of Piedmont, Cindy Fields, of Mustang, and Trisha Kinnett, of Shawnee; brothers, Paris Lovett, of Eugene, Ore., twin brothers, Rickey Lovett, of Seminole and Mickey Lovett, of Purcell; sister, Sharon Lovett, of Harrah; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard T. Walters, II; and sister, Linda Robinson.

Graveside services were scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 17, 2009 at Little Cemetery with Rev. Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating.

Funeral services were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole.

Regina Ward

Funeral Services for longtime Seminole County resident Regina Sue Bounds Ward are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Spring Baptist Church, in Sasakwa, with Rev. Leon Postoak and Rev. Frank Mopping officiating. Interment is to follow at Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 12, 1966, in Shawnee, to Matthew Wood and Ellouis Harjo.

Regina was a graduate of Wewoka High School and attended Seminole Junior College. At present she was working at Seminole Nation as a Prevention Specialist of the Alcoholic and Drug Use Program. She attended Spring Baptist Church.

She loved to go shopping with her daughters and she also liked to go camping, bowling, and playing pool. Regina loved spending time with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death are her grandparents, Katie Davis, John Harjo, Mandy and John Wood; brother, Jerald Wayne Harjo; and cousin, Wade Wood.

Survivors include her parents, Matthew Wood, of Seminole and Ellouis Harjo, of Wewoka; three loving daughters Melissa Bounds, of Seminole, Andrea Bounds and Justin Yockey, of Ada, Karen Landreth and husband Jerry, of Ada; two loving grandchildren, Jayde Landreth and Lucian Williams, both of Ada; brothers and sisters, Johnnie Ray Harjo, of Ada, John (Buzz) Wood, of Seminole, Marilyn (Molly) Wood, of Seminole, Carolyn (Seda) Wood, of Seminole, Glenda M. Lena, of Shawnee, Vernon R. Harjo, of Konawa, and Tim Wood, of Seminole; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Landreth, Joseph Bounds, Wayland Harjo, Christopher Gomez, Justin Yockey, Quan D. Ngo, Tam Ngo, and Sterling Lena.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Bounds, John Coley, David Robertson, Johnnie Harjo, Wilbert Harjo, Gilbert Harjo, Vernon Harjo, Chebon Gokey John (Buzz) Wood, and Wallace Wood.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, in Wewoka.

Gary Warden

Gary Don Warden, Former Seminole resident, age 39, died Sunday Feb. 8, 2009, in Clewiston, Fla.

He was born Aug. 29, 1969, in Lawton, to Robert Carl Warden and Jeanette Joseph Factor.

Warden graduated from Riverside Indian School. He moved to Florida in December of 2008. He was a member of the Tusekia Harjo Band. He was a roofer by trade.

He married Angela Tiger June 5, 2008, in Orlando, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Angela; parents, Robert Carl Warden, of Seminole and Jeanette Joseph Factor, of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughter, Cordelia Wood, of Stillwell; sister, Stacy Bequer, of Fayetteville, N.C.; and brothers, Ronald Russell Warden and Donald Ray Factor, both of Wichita, Kan

He is preceded in death by two brothers Ricky Vaughn Warden and Michael Warden.

Wake Services are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 at Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church, Wewoka with Rev. Houston Tiger officiating.

Funeral Service are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Sand Creek Eufaula Baptist Church with interment at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Woods, Marlon Hadley, Rob Tedder, Anthony Slinker, Earl James Taylor, Glenn Gibbs, and George Bequer.

Ruthetta Warrior

Sasakwa resident Ruthetta Warrior, age 56, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009, in Norman.

The journey for Ruthetta Warrior began on July 11, 1952, in Sasakwa.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. Enrit and Bessie (Thurman) Warrior.

She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Thomas Town Baptist Church and was baptized.

Ruthetta graduated from Sasakwa High School. She later furthered her education at Oklahoma State University Technical Branch, in Okmulgee, where she received her diploma in Culinary Art in 1976.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Annette Warrior; and brothers, Frank and Johnny Warrior.

She leaves behind to cherish her lovely memories her two brothers, Clifford Warrior and Roger Warrior, both of Sasakwa; sisters, Priscilla Warrior, Glenda Warrior, Gloria Warrior, Lena Thompson, of Shawnee, and Thelma Warrior, of Oklahoma City. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Thomas Town Cemetery, in Sasakwa.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.

Arthur Weatherly

Wewoka resident Arthur "Mart" Martin Weatherly, age 92, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, in Oklahoma City.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Forrest Keener officiating and burial at Oakwood Cemetery.

He was born March 21, 1916, in Moffett, to Claude and Lula (Eads) Weatherly.

Mart attended school in Roland, and later worked for Meadow Gold Dairy as a Truck Driver for many years. He served in WWII with the Marines. In his retirement years Mart mowed lawns and would buy and sell lawn mowers. He loved his wood crafting, fishing along with reading. He was of the Baptist faith.

Arthur married Virgie Pratt, in 1937, in Sallisaw, and to this marriage four children were born.

Survivors include his wife, Virgie, of the Home; daughters, Nina Wood, of Wewoka and Bonnie McKeel and husband Cameron, of Shawnee; son, Bill and wife Cheryl Weatherly, of Midwest City; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, and daughter Ann Huskey.

Pallbearers will be J.C. Kanard, Cecil Degge, Charles Chance, Joe Pettis, Jim Azlin, and Jim Early.

Honorary Bearers will be Earnest Moore, Ray Stafford, and Jim Bicknell.
