Elzie Barnes 80, of Brule, Nebraska passed away Friday August 20, 2010. He was born May 17, 1930 to Cliifford and Minnie (Tinkle) Barnes in Okfuskee county, Oklahoma.
Elzie was raised in Seminole county and moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked 35 years for Gates Rubber before retiring in 1990 to Brule, Nebraska near Lake McConaughy.
He is survived by one daughter, Beverly Florance of Brule, Nebraska and one son David of Denver Colorado, four brothers, J. C. of Mount Lake Terrace, Washington, Bobby Of Ponca City, Ronald Barnes of Sapulpa, and Phillip Barnes of Cromwell, two sisters, Mable Sowder and Phyllis Curry of Cromwell, and three granddaughters, Devon, Dawn and Marissa Florance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Eldridge, and a sister Georgia Duncan.
Memorial services will be held in Brule, Nebraska on Saturday, August 28th. Cremation was requested and to be brought back to Oklahoma to be buried with his twin brother. A memorial service will be held Monday the 30th at 10 a.m. at the Schoolton Cemetery for family and friends here.
Vondell Barnes
Funeral Services for Vondell Muerl (Hartzog) Barnes are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Moreland officiating and burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
Born June 20, 1924 in Mounds, OK to Irving and Onie (Payne) Hartzog. She passed away Tuesday August 3, 2010 in Holdenville, at the age of 86 years.
Vondell was married to Savoy Barnes, and he preceded her in death.
Vondell was the Mother of six and loved gardening and taking care of her flowers. She enjoyed been with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, infant sisters Ruth, Armenda Lavon Hartzog, and brother Troy George Hartzog.
Survivors included children: Mary Ann Cosby and husband Bert of Midland, TX; Janice S. Conley and husband Billy of Holdenville; OK, Edward Johnson and wife Betty of ElDorado, AR.; Marvell ( Marty) Lunn, and husband Danny of Wewoka; Deborah Gail Johnson, and companion Thomas Gates, of Wewoka; and Richetta Johnson, of Wewoka.
Grandchildren: Angela Musso, Sharon Hobbs, Vickie Cockrell, Laura Walker, Linda Jack, Maryetta Westbrook, Alice Leach, Marcilla Bacon, Wendie Busby, Edward Johnson, Louis Johnson, Anya Cooper, Clint Lunn, Jeremiah Johnson, and Jacob Robertson; twenty-three great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbears will be Thomas Gates, Isaac Harrison, Jason Leach, Daniel Lunn Jr., Joshua Dooley, and Darrell Cherry.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be: Jeremiah Johnson, Clinton Lunn, Louie Johnson, and Anthony Jackson.

Freddie Barnett
Freddie J. Barnett, age 75 and a former resident of Konawa, died on Monday, October 19, 2010 at his residence in Asher, Oklahoma.
Freddie was born on June 14, 1935 in Konawa to Fred Franklin Barnett and Johnie Christila (Freeman) Barnett. He married Darla (Franks) on August 4, 1988 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He was employed as an automotive technician for the U. S. Postal Service. Freddie was a former member of the McLoud Pentecostal Holiness Church and a current member of the Cornerstone Ministries Church of Asher. He rebuilt cars, trucks, and hotrods.
He is survived by his wife, Darla Barnett of the home; two sons, Fred F. Barnett of Oklahoma City, and Jayson H. Bucy of Latta, Oklahoma; two daughters, Penny J. Gabel of Shiloh, Illinois, and Tina L. Richardson of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Johnie Barnett; and one sister, Roseann Lasater.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday, October 22nd at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Burial will follow at Vista Cemetery in Konawa. Scott Dobbs, Pastor of Cornerstone Ministries in Asher, Oklahoma, will officiate. Pallbearers are Mark Lasater, Billy Lasater, Geary Lasater, Brian Lasater, Gerad McKinley, and Billy Jo Fisher. Honorary Pallbearers are Arland Williams, Carl Clemons, Dewayne Dobbs, and Rick Russell.
Richard Basque Jr.
Longtime Seminole resident Richard Basque, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, in Seminole, Oklahoma at the age of 52.
He was born on February 15, 1957 in Hilo, Hawaii to Richard Basque Sr. and Marlene Tavares Isaac.
Richard married Jennifer Lynn (Griffin) Basque on September 9, 1978, in Seminole, Oklahoma.
He worked for Miller Truck Lines in Stroud, Oklahoma, for twelve years and was currently employed with Tiger Trucks in Seminole where he had been working for three years.
Richard was a true trucker at heart; he loved collecting trucking memorabilia and was an avid M&M collector. He also loved bowling and was a part of the League Sunday Night Mix at Shawnee Bowl. He also served as a sergeant in the United States Army
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Jennifer Basque, of the home; his parents, Marlene Isaac; and step-father, Leon of Mustang, Oklahoma, Richard Basque, Sr. of Yukon, Oklahoma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brandy and Brandon Thetford, of Moore, Oklahoma, Misti and Kris Romines, of Seminole; one brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Merri Basque, of Yukon, Oklahoma; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Adam Martin, of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Debrah and John Macardo, of Hawaii; four grandchildren, Mattison Thetford, Patience Romines, Makenzie Thetford and Payton Romines. Numerous nieces and nephews that he loved and considered sons and daughters and a host of other family and dear friends also survive him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
His brother Guy Paul Basque who passed away on December 31, 2009, precedes him in death.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Father Basil Kennan, O.S.B.
Guy Basque
Seminole resident Guy Paul Basque, age 48, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at his home in Seminole.
He was born April 14, 1961, in Hilo, Hawaii, to Richard Basque, Sr. and Marlene (Tavares) Basque.
He worked as a truck driver and had moved to Seminole from Mesquite, Texas two and a half months ago. He was of the Catholic faith.
He married Alice Bernadette Mercado, in 1993, in Keaau, Hawaii.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; sons, Louis Basque, of Balch Springs, Texas, and Nicholas Basque, of Balch Springs, Texas; father, of Yukon; mother and step-father, Marleen and Leon Isaac, of Mustang; step-daughters, Kathlynn "Trini" Birney, of Tyler, Texas and Alicia Mercado, of Hawaii; step-son, Curtis Schweitcer, of the home; brothers, Richard Basque, of Seminole, and Clifford Basque, of Yukon; sisters, Deborah Mercado, of Hawaii and Kathleen Martin, of Yukon; and eight grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole.
Candace Bert
Candace Daniellia Bert was born March 9, 1981 in Oklahoma City to Lavonne Bert. Candace was God's very special gift of life to all who knew her. She completed her education at John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She received Christ Jesus in 1993 and was a member of the NE Church of Christ in OKC. Candace was computer savvy and loved her laptop. God used her talent to chat on-line and provide encouraging words and information of Sickle Anemia to others on "FACE BOOK" all around the world.
She was a participating member of Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation and an Advocate Representative, many times for the Foundation. Candace was writing a documentary of the challenges and struggles of fighting and overcoming this crippling disease. Blessed by God's gift of 29 years, she was our sweet, "Candy-Corn" and her Mother's, " Punkie." She is preceded in death by Great-Grandparents, Conley and Daisy Bert.
A life of love and joy came to a close, Saturday, July 10, 2010 at OU Medical Center (formally Presbyterian Hospital) when Candace went home to be with the Lord and his angel at the age of 29 years.

Emmit Bertschy
Funeral services for Emmit King Bertschy, infant son of Tori Rashelle Sharp and Justin Dwayne Bertschy are scheduled for 3 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.
Interment will follow at the (Tiger) Sally Marcy Family Cemetery with the baby’s grandfather Paul Sharp officiating.
Bertschy was born and passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Surviving family members include parents, Tori Rashelle Sharp and Justin Dwayne Bertschy both of Oklahoma City; one brother, Tristin Bertschy of the home; maternal grandparents, Kimberly Sharp of Maud, and Paul Sharp of Ada; Paternal grandparents, Debbie and Matt Schue of Oklahoma; maternal great-grandmother, Wanda Tiger Barber of Maud; paternal great-grandparents, Gerald and Martha White of Yukon; and a host of other family.
Willie Beshears
Willie I. Beshears, 87, longtime Seminole resident died Friday, October 1, 2010 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Willie was born July 4, 1923 to Anderson H. and Maude Lou (Shores) Allen in Hughes County.
Willie was a retired Elderly Care Worker and had moved back to Seminole from California. While in California she worked during the war in the Navy Shipyard as a Welder. She and her husband Max loved to go bowling; Max and Willie were married February 7, 1941 in New Model near Wewoka, Oklahoma, he preceded her in death.
Willie was a long time member of the Cheyarha Presbyterian Church and loved gardening and sharing her vegetables with others. Willie loved to sew for people who needed something and was always making quilts. She touched many lives during her lifetime and everyone loved her.
Her son Robert Beshears of Seminole, Oklahoma, survives her. Two sisters Evelyn Tidmore of Seminole and Ella Weatherspoon of Tennessee also survive her. Three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive her.
Her parents, husband, Max and a brother Houston Allen and four sisters, Mattie Moody, Edna Cole, Alta Etchison and Annie Inman precede her in death.
Graveside services are planned for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Little
Cemetery north of Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Bill Carr officiating.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday until the service time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
James Bicknell
Wewoka resident James F. "Jim" Bicknell died December 18, 2010.
He was born July 30, 1928 to James and Ethel (Riegel) Bicknell in Pharoah,
Bicknell attended Justice School. He married Virginia (Lemons) and she survives him of the home.
Bicknell worked at T.H. Rogers Lumber Co. for 40 years retiring on July 30, 1991.
He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.
Bicknell is also survived by three sons Gary Bicknell, Larry Bicknell, and Dennis Bicknell; daughter Dee Bicknell-Wickerd; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel.

Tom Blackwell Sr.
Wewoka resident Tom Blackwell Sr. died Sunday, July 18, 2010 in Oklahoma City after a long illness at the age of 67 years.
Blackwell was born July 26, 1942 in Shawnee to Eural Burton and Pauline Gladys (Gray) Blackwell.
He graduated from El Reno High and after graduation he enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country as a Flight Mechanic.
Blackwell married Lori Lee Pyke July 21, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nev.
He worked as an auto Mechanic at Blackwell's Garage in Wewoka and owned and operated the garage for 25 years.
He was of the Baptist Faith.
His hobbies were camping, model airplanes, and spending time eating breakfast with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents E.B. and Pauline Blackwell, son Ronald Blackwell, and brother Jack Blackwell.
Survivors include his wife Lori Lee Blackwell of the home, children Gary Blackwell, of California, Tomie Blackwell Jr, of Montana, James Blackwell of Montana, Sean Blackwell of McAlester, and Cheryl Ray of Wewoka; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Karlita Smith of California.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Allen Moore officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.
Pall Bearers are Lewis Johnson, JR Scott, Ronnie Keesee, Don Posey, Bob Bivens, and Shawn Ray.
