W. F. Coble

W. F. "Butch" Coble, 78, long time Seminole resident, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Norman Veterans Center, Norman, Oklahoma.

Butch was born on October 24, 1931, to Omar F. and Hazel I. (Berryman) Coble, in McAlester, Oklahoma. He married Roberta (Dickerson) Coble on April 6, 1956, in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Butch owned and operated Butch’s Packing House from 1967-1981, in Seminole. He attended the Assembly of God Church, in Seminole. He loved horses, mules, wagons and listening to Tradio on local radio station KSLE. He loved telling stories, talking to people and farming. Butch was also a horse shoer (Farrier) for most of his life. Butch served his country as a Gunners Mate, in the U.S. Navy, during the Korean War.

Butch leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Roberta, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Robertson and husband Mark and Lea Ann Presley and husband Doug, all of Seminole, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Cord Presley, Marcy Robertson, Cory Walker, Josh Presley and his wife Heather; one great-grandchild, Kason Presley, and one great-grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hazel Coble; one aunt, Lorene Hannah; and two grandchildren, Ted and Tuff Presley.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole, Oklahoma. Rev. Doyle O. Long will officiate. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be: Bob Hobson, Rodney Sutterfield, Josh Presley, Cord Presley, Johnny Starns, and Cory Walker.

Honorary Bearers will be: Curtis Chandler, Tommy Mills, Larry Hicks, and Bobby Azlin, Bill McIntyre.

Freddie Cochran Sr.

Services for Rev. Freddie Dewise Cochran, Sr., 92, Stonewall, are 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 at Trinity: Baptist Church, Elder B. K. Hardwick will officiate.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends and friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Rev. Cochran died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at his home.

Cochran was born November 11th 1919 to Susanna Patrick and Frank Cochran, in Stonewall. Both parents preceded him in death.

He was drafted into the United States Armed Forces during WWII, and was honorably discharged December 6th 1945.

He accepted Christ at an early age, and remained faithful until death.

Cochran worked as an auto mechanic for Rigsby’s Tire and Supply, Eskel Myers, Pete Parks and sold Watkins Products. He also was later retired from his self-employed lawn service.

He met and married Lola Bell Bruner, December 27th 1947. She preceded him in death.

To this union eleven children were born. Two children preceded him in death.

He later married Darlene Colbert, and Georgia Nero. Both preceded him in death. He married Linda Kay Garfield June 18th 2005 in Wewoka.

He served faithfully as a Deacon for a short time at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, under the Pasturages of Rev. J.A. Colbert.

He was called to the Ministry and preached his first sermon the 3rd Sunday in August 1958.

He built two churches and pastored several: Scipio Baptist Church, New Lima, Bethlehem Baptist Church in Konawa, Salt Creek Baptist Church in Boggie, Angel Wing Baptist Church in Stonewall, 1st Baptist Church, Madill, Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Hartshorne, and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Stonewall.

Cochran served as the moderator of the Eastern Union District Association; he also served as the 3rd vice of the General Missionary Convention.

He was a 32nd Mason in the Consistory Wynnewood, Oklahoma. He was a member of the American Legion Post 72.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Cochran, of the home; sister, Brazillia Johnson of Stonewall; six daughters, Susie Moore, Okla. City, Vernita (Adolfo) Gutierrez, Stonewall, Alice Cochran, Stonewall, Lera (Rev. Gerald) Williams, Beggs, Ruth Williams, Bottoms, TX, Linda (Richard) Scott, Ada; five Sons, Rev. Andrew Cochran, Baytown, TX, Rev. Famous Cochran, Konawa, Rev. Clive Cochran Sr., Lima, Rev. Ronnie Cochran, Ada, and Freddie Cochran Jr., Ada; two step-daughters, Tammy Osborne, Tecumseh, and Gayla Watts, Shawnee; five step-sons, Jeff James, Norman, Ray James and Dale James, both of Wewoka, Steven James, Norman, and John James, Shawnee; 44 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; host of Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends; and a special Sister-in-law, Thelma Bruner.

Two daughters, Ada Bell Cochran and Lazenie Mae Cochran, seven sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Bearers will be Lorenzo Edwards, Freddie Davis, Jeff Hamilton, Will Hamilton, Frank Wright, Jr., and Timothy Johnson. His nephews are honorary bearers.

Flower bearers are the minister’s wives. Honorary flower bearers will be his nieces.

Cora Coker

Cora Lee Coker died Monday, June 14, 2010 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 66 years.

She was the daughter of George W. McCombs & Cora Belle (Harjo) McCombs, born on May 29, 1944 in Holdenville.

She was brought up and attended schools in Holdenville and Shawnee, and also attended Seminole Junior College at Seminole.

Wewoka has been her home for the past 35 years.

Coker worked as a Stenographer for the Seminole County Department of Human Services, retiring after twenty-eight years.

She was baptized by Rev. Jimmy McCosar on April 7, 1958, at the First Indian Baptist Church in Shawnee.

She was a member of Middlecreek Baptist Church #2.

Her favorite things were sewing, doing beadwork and collecting antiques.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Cora Bell McCombs; one son, Barry Gene Coker; one brother, Eugene Raymond McCombs.

She is survived by five children: Sherri Gray, of Salsbury, North Carolina, Terry Coker of Wagoner, Jeri Boyd of Seminole, Edmond Coker, Jr. of Wewoka, and Mollosey Hughes of Barnsdall; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Mae Woolsey of Cromwell, and one brother, George McCombs III of Jackson, Mississippi.

A wake service will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, at Lillye Chapel, Fisher Funeral Home in Holdenville.

Funeral services will be held at Lillye Chapel on Friday, June 18, 2 p.m. Rev. Frank Moppin is the officiating minister.

Pallbearers are Edmond Coker, Jr., Terry Coker, Jericho Coker, Jesse Long, Charlie Harjo, Jr., Eugene McCombs, Dino McCombs and Fred Billye.

Coker will be laid to rest in the Goate Family Cemetery east of Wewoka.

Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.

David Cole

Seminole resident David Lee Cole, age 63, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, in Oklahoma City. He was born Oct. 7, 1946, in Shawnee, to David Andrew Cole and Naomi Faye (Griffin) Cole.

He graduated from New Lima High School and worked as a truck driver for many years.

He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Cherry, of Seminole, and Melissa Cole, of Midwest City; and half brother, Mark Cole, of Tecumseh.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate the service.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole.

Kathryn Collings

Kathryn Collings, 89, longtime Seminole resident died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Pioneer Nursing Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Kathryn was born December 23, 1920 in Scipio, Oklahoma to Gliny Griffin and Daisy Mae (Herrin) Barnett.

Kathryn grew up in Scipio area and moved to Seminole from Ada, Oklahoma in 1934. She attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School in 1938. She loved playing softball and in 1938 played on " The Bonebreakers" softball team in Seminole where she was the pitcher.

Kathryn was a member of the Church of Christ in Seminole and spent most of her married life as a homemaker and housewife. She loved sewing, raising her six children and raising a big garden, Her loving children and grandchildren will miss her love for them and her quick wit.

She married Doug Collings Sr. on August 20, 1939 in Seminole, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death in 1994.

Three daughters; Judith Ann Pulliam and her husband Larry of Midwest City, Phyllis Collings and Joyce Kay Crabb both of Seminole, and two sons; Doug Collings, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Montgomery, Texas and Kenny Collings and his wife Martha of Ardmore, survive Mrs. Collings. Thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren also survive her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Doug Collings (1994) a daughter Jacqueline Sue "Jackie" Smith (2007), three brothers Paul, Dick and Pete Barnett and two sisters Tollie Zitterkopf and Christine Wheat.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Church of Christ on Hwy 99 north in Seminole with Chris Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.

Casket bearers will be Grandsons; Jon Collings, Jeff Crabb, Bobby Boyer, Cleve Collings, Dillon Smith and Zac Dennis.

Honorary bearers will be Christian Cormack, Jeremy Dennis and Marcus Freeman.

The family request memorial donations be made to the Church of Christ Young Men’s Mission Trip Fund % Church of Christ, P.O. Box 1723 Seminole, Oklahoma, 74818-1723.

Ralph Collins

Ralph "Hoot" Collins, 74, of Wolf was born on February 2, 1936 and died December 11, 2010.

Hoot worked in the oilfield for many years.

He is survived by 2 brothers, Jerry Eugene Collins of Shawnee, and Wayne Collins of Fanning, Springs, Fl.; 2 sisters, Frankie Marie Bird of Maud, and Juanita Howell of Shawnee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Franklin Collins and Ethel Marie Payne; and 2 brothers, Ray Scott and John Bell Collins.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Konawa Cemetery, Konawa.

Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel of Moore.

Jerry Collinsworth

Jerry Collinsworth, age 88 and a former resident of the Sasakwa and Konawa, Oklahoma area, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Jerry was born on June 6, 1922, in Konawa to Annie (Zwicker) and Garry Collinsworth. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and he married Johnnie Tollett in Konawa on December 16, 1944. He owned and ran Collinsworth Grocery Store, and he enjoyed horses.

Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory, one brother, J.E. Collinsworth of Wichita, Kansas; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sharlene Phillips and husband, Bobby of Seminole, Oklahoma, Linda Payne and husband, Kenneth of Konawa, Phyllis "Jean" Phillips and husband, Terry of Sasakwa, and Carlotta Travels and husband, Rocky of Sasakwa; one son, Bradford Collinsworth and daughter-in-law Brenda of Seminole; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Collinsworth of Sasakwa; Grandchildren, Randy Collinsworth, Lyndsey Phillips, Leslie Phillips-Williams and husband, Dean, Jerrod Collinsworth and wife, Mary, Zachary Collinsworth, Sonny Collinsworth, Mark Payne and wife, Jennifer, Mitchell Payne and wife, Kathy, Monty Payne, Jeremy Phillips and wife, Kristy, Joshua Phillips, Gary Elliott and wife, Sandy, and Jerome Collinsworth; also, 26 great-grandchildren and a host of other friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Collinsworth on January 14, 2000; his parents, Garry and Annie Collinsworth; two children, Shirley Evon Collinsworth and Jerry "Leon" Collinsworth; and three brothers, Kenneth, Joe, and Burl Collinsworth.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Rev. Ed George will officiate. Pallbearers are Jerrod and Zach Collinsworth, Mark, Mitchell and Monty Payne, Jeremy and Josh Phillips, and Gary Elliott. Honorary pallbearers include Lyndsey Phillips, Leslie Williams, Sonny, Jerome and Randy Collinsworth.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Kenneth Colvin

Life long Seminole resident, Kenneth "Sarge" Colvin passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at the Veteran’s Hospital, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Kenneth was born September 30, 1942 to parents Kenneth Eugene and Maudie Marie (Snyder) Colvin. He had been a resident of Seminole County for 67 years.

Kenneth was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, of Seminole, and served in the United States Army earning the rank of sergeant.

He married Mary (Works) Colvin, December 24, 1962, at Ideal Street Baptist Church, in Seminole.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Mary; and their three sons and spouses, David and wife Cathy, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, John and wife Tracy, of Earlsboro, Oklahoma, and Tim and his wife Jennifer, of Seminole, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Roberts; grandchildren, Heather Colvin, Brittany Johnson, Caleb Colvin, Gerald Colvin, Carson Colvin; and step grandchildren, Chris McBay, Catie McBay, Jesse Sprugin, Dalton Sprugin. Also surviving Kenneth are five great grandchildren, Hailey Colvin, Mayden Johnson, Bryce Campbell, Kenneth Ross and Konner Ross.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, great grandparents, sister, Patsy Marshall and grandson Kenneth Colvin.

Funeral services will be held for Kenneth, Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole, Oklahoma, with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Interment will be at Little Cemetery.

Serving as casket bearers: Gilbert Ross, Mark Austin, Dewaye Cherry, Dewayen Lozer, Chris McBay and Eric Hilton.
