Arthur Elliott

Arthur H. Elliott, Jr., 83, husband, father, grandfather, and long time resident of Albuquerque, born February 20, 1927 in Washington, OK, passed away on August 3, 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Willadean; children, Arthur Jerome Elliott, Alan Lee "Hoot" Elliott, Dianne Elliott Jones, Brenda Darlene Minor, and Rick D. Elliott; grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents Arthur H. Elliott Sr. and Beulah Arsena Mackey Elliott and his brother Minford Elliott.

He was drafted into the US Army during WWII as a senior in high school serving with the 3rd Army in Germany. Arthur returned home and finished his senior year at Konawa High School. Following his graduation he enrolled and attended A & M Mechanical School for refrigeration and heating. While attending A & M Mechanical School he and Willadean Hood were married on April 15, 1949 in Ada, OK. In 1950 he returned to service with the National Guard during the Korean conflict at the rank of MGST of the 45th infantry.

Arthur is a 2nd generation Mason. He joined at the Grand Lodge AF & AM in Holdenville, OK. He and his family moved to Albuquerque in 1962. Arthur joined the Local 412 Pipe Fitters union in 1962 and retired in 1993.

After retirement he worked as a security escort with ADC Limited Security CO. for Sandia National Labs until 2008.

Friends are welcome to visit French, Lomas location, on Sunday, August 8, 2010 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral service will be held at French, Lomas location, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday August, 9, 2010 with burial taking place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30pm. Barney Elliott

Barney Leno "Red" Elliott, 86, passed away on Feb. 1, 2010. Dannel Funeral Home will be overseeing the arrangements. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Dannel Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Brown, of Victory Life Church officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

A lifelong resident of Seminole, Red recently moved to Southmayd, Texas. He was born on Aug. 20, 1923, in Treece, Kansas, to Leno and Pearl Swoger Elliott. During WWII he served in the US Army in the Pacific Theatre where he received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, 4 Bronze Service Stars, Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Metal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars. He married Marjorie Lewis on July 29, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Red worked as an auto body and glass repairman and retired from James Dye Body Shop, in 1985.

Red was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends. He was an avid fisherman and collector of antique fishing equipment and model cars. He also liked to go to garage sales.

Preceding Red in death was a son-in-law, Preston Allen Thomas; three sisters, Lillian Goss, Helen Clour, and Maxine Elliott; a brother, Eric Elliott.

Survivors include Red’s wife, Marjorie Lewis Elliott, of Southmayd, Texas; three daughters, Maxine Thomas of Sherman, Texas, Barbara Williams and husband Michael of Waynesville, Mo., and Amanda Pepe and husband Daniel of Southmayd, Texas; two sons, Steve Elliott and wife Patricia of Southmayd, Texas and Perry Elliott and wife Karyn of Claremore; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Thomas of Denison, Texas, Brandon Williams of Tucson, Ariz., Jason Williams of Phoenix, Ariz., Kevin Williams of Tucson, Ariz., Jacob Elliott of Claremore, and Matthew Elliott of Claremore.

Glen Emerson

Funeral services for Glen D. Emerson, 87, of Del City, a Bowlegs High School graduate are scheduled for Friday, April 2, 2010 at 10:30 am in the Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service in Del City.

Burial will follow in Ft. Sill National Cemetery, under the direction of Ford Funeral Services.

Emerson died Tuesday, March 30, 2010.

He was born May 18, 1922 in Checotah, the son of Hugh Sherman and Mary Elizabeth Emerson.

He joined the Army Air Corp during WW II and flew the B-25.

He later joined the USAF where he retired as a Lt. Col with over 20 years of service.

Emerson earned a PhD in Computer Science from OU after he was 60 years old.

He taught at UCO and has had several scientific papers published.

Emerson was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Hugh Emerson.

He is survived by his wife, Noma of the home; son, Glen David Emerson of Oklahoma City; daughter, Mary Elaine Emerson Malliaris of Chicago; seven grandchildren, six Great Grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Smith of Stillwater; many other relatives and friends.

Wanda Endwright-Buchanan

Wanda Lorene Endwright-Buchanan, age 73, Maud resident, died year-old, Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at her home, in Maud. She was born July 10, 1935, in Colony, to Loyd Earl Hatfield and Rachel Lorene (Hawkins) Hatfield.

She owned and operated along with her husband several restaurants through the years. They owned a chain of six pizzerias that went by the name of "Lefty’s", in San Diego, Calif., for over 20 years. She also owned and operated the "Harvest House" restaurant, in Seminole, from 1968 to 1970.

She was involved with her children serving as a "Den Mother" for her son’s "Cub Scout" organization and a leader for her daughters when they were in the "Brownie" organization.

She married Robert Earl "Bob" Endwright, on Sept. 8, 1978, in Bryan County. She later married Ernest Buchanan. She was also a member of The People’s Church, in Maud.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Bennett, of Shawnee; daughters, Betty Webster, of Seminole, and Terry McCracken, of Maud; brother, Carroll Hatfield, of Biloxi, Miss.; sister, Dena Kimball, of Agra; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Endwright; son, Tom Bennett; daughter, Patty Rose; and four brothers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at The People’s Church, in Maud. Rev. Gus Monreal will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will be: Michael Webster, Chuck Webster, Terry McCracken, Jr., Bobby McCracken, Steve Muzny and Ronnie VanWinkle.

Honorary Bearers will be: Ray Cleary, Bob Miller, Woody Phillips, Slim Crabtree and Leroy Anderson.

Funeral services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, in Maud.

Opal Epperley

Opal Mary Epperley passed away at Holdenville General Hospital on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at the age of 93 years.

Opal was the daughter of Albert and Goldie (Stonebarger) Epperley, born on October 9, 1916, near Sasakwa, Oklahoma, where she was brought up and attended Kight School. She operated a diner in Wewoka during World War II, and later worked at Big Yank for 18 years, from 1944 to 1962, and several years for Tucker Nursing Homes. She retired from work in the late 1970s.

Opal lived in the Wewoka area for more than 70 years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and loved to quilt and sew.

She is preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by one sister, Lois King, of Wewoka; one brother, Joe Epperley, of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great niece on the way.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 19, with Leo Epperley officiating. Opal will be laid to rest in the Oakwood Cemetery, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Opal Epperley

Opal Mary Epperley passed away at Holdenville General Hospital on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at the age of 93 years.

Patsy Ervin

Patsy Brewer Sims Ervin, 71, of Sumner passed away Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Heart Hospital at Baylor Plano.

Services were held on Monday, Sept. 20, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Crosswhite officiating.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21st, at Vamoosa Cemetery near Seminole.

Mrs. Ervin, the daughter of Eugene & Iva Lee Knight Brewer, was born July 12, 1939, in Friendship, OK.

She graduated from Bowlegs High School. She loved her Lord and gospel music. Pat loved being with her family, cooking, baking wedding cakes and gardening.

She married Billy Joe Ervin on Feb. 19, 1991, at Maxey Baptist Church in Lamar County where she was a member.

He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Steven Jerid Dickson, & three sisters, Laura Cooper, Marie Sisk, and Trolla Mae Quattlebaum.

Survivors include a son, Steve Sims & wife Jean of Seminole, OK, two daughters, Connie Tapp and Charlot Rice both of Paris, grandchildren, Derek Allred & wife Brandi of Paris, Jacob Dickson of Winnsboro, Dalton Tapp of Paris, Tricia Ethridge & husband John of Las Vegas, NV, Leah Allred of Mesquite, Stephanie Taylor & husband Zack of Seminole, OK, two special great grandchildren, Carson Ethridge & Madison Ethridge both of Las Vegas, NV, two brothers, William Brewer & wife Carolyn of Midwest City, OK and Bedford Brewer & wife Karen of Bowlegs, OK, two sisters, Eunice Morgan of Seminole, OK and Bobbie Reynolds of Bowie, along with numerous nieces nephews and close friends.

William Eslick

William Matthew Eslick, age 29 and a former resident of Sasakwa passed away at his residence in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, April 14, 2010.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010 at Walton Cemetery in Sasakwa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday and from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Eslick was born on August 21, 1980, in Oklahoma City to William D. Eslick and Cynthia (Eckles) Eslick.

He graduated from Sasakwa High School and worked the roofing industry.

He loved being with his family, and he liked fishing, pick-up trucks, and being out doors.

He is survived by his biological mother, Cynthia Eslick from Oklahoma City; his adoptive parents, Jalena and Robert Murphy of Ada; one brother, Jason Eslick of Oklahoma City; five sisters, Michele Eslick of Oklahoma City, Rhonda Akins of Oklahoma City, Sasha Hill of Ada, Shawana Hill of Ada, and Tarena Craig of Moore.

He was preceded in death by his biological father, William D. Eslick; three brothers, Joseph Eslick, Donald Eckles, and Robert Murphy, Jr.

Glenn Evans

Glenn Ray Evans, 83, Seminole resident died April 12, 2010 at Seminole Integris Medical Center. Mr. Evans was born September 4, 1926 in DeNoya, Oklahoma to Everett and Ruby (Butler) Evans. He had moved back to Seminole in October 16, 2004 from the Hobbs, New Mexico area.

Glenn grew up in the Seminole area and graduated in 1944 from Varnum High School and later he attended two years of college. Glenn served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal from 1950 to 1953.

Glenn married Bertha (Richter) Evans on April 30, 1952 in Schweinfurt, Germany. He was a member of the 1st Christian Church and the American Legion and The V.F.W. Mr. Evans owned and operated "Pacific Pumps" and retired in 2004.

Evans is survived by his wife Bertha Evans of the home in Seminole; also surviving him are two sons, Glenn "Ray" Evans, Jr. of Seminole and Ronnie Lee Evans and his wife Dana of Hobbs, New Mexico ; daughter Doris Allison and her husband Ronnie of Seminole, Oklahoma; Two brothers Raymond M. Evans of Arlington, Texas and Everett E. Evans, Jr. of Seminole, Oklahoma; four sisters’ Margaret Ruth Schroeder, Lucille Gist and Helen Adams all of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Grace Viola Hargis of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Eight grandchildren, Six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a sister Betty Jo Best and a grandson Travis Shad Evans.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Burial at Little Cemetery. Rev. Glen Pence will be officiating.

Casket bearers will be: Clint Hohn, Michael Cole, Caleb Evans, John Robert Evans, Cheyenne Allison and Bill Adams.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Johnny Eversole

Johnny Wess Eversole, 64 year-old, longtime Maud resident passed from this life January 1, 2010.

He was born December 22, 1945 in Chandler, Oklahoma, to parents Wess Eversole and Mildred (Higgins) Eversole.

Johnny graduated from Saint Louis High School in Saint Louis, Oklahoma.

Following graduation he served our country in the United States Army.

Following his retirement from the Army Johnny worked at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. He was a member of the Earlsboro Freewill Baptist Church; Maud Masonic Lodge and Tecumseh Masonic Lodge where he served as past Master Mason of both lodges; Member of the Maud Eastern Star; He was a Shriner, who also drove a hospital van for the Shriner’s Hospital; He was also a Shriner's Clown with the Tri-Co Clown Unit; Johnny is also a retired minister.

Johnny married Virginia Ann Reed on September 4, 1968, in Wheeler, Texas. She preceded him in death on December 7, 2005.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred Eversole, of Pearson, Oklahoma; one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Eversole, II. and his wife Brandy, of Maud, Oklahoma; one daughter, Teresa Goodnight, of Seminole, Oklahoma; one brother, Carl Roundtree and his wife Joan, of Maud, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Ashley, Kaitlyn and Hayden Eversole and Brandon and Clarissa Goodnight; he is also survived by a host of other family and dear friends.

Johnny is preceded in death by his father, Wess Eversole; his wife, Ann Eversole who died Dec. 7, 2005 and by his twin brother Jimmie Eversole.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. Issac Ziegler will officiate the service. Funeral services will conclude at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with both Masonic and Military Honors.

Interment will follow at Little Cemetery located north of Seminole.

Casket Bearers will be: Jim Gwartney, Bill Buley, Bill Bruce, Gerald Holcomb, Randall Hale and Woody Hopkins.

Honorary Casket Bearer will be: Luther Anderson.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole, Oklahoma.
