She died May 13, 2004.

STONEWALL — Services for Effie Lou Scott, 96, Stonewall, are 2 p.m. Friday at Stonewall First Baptist Church, the Revs. Randall Christy and Ray Moffeit officiating. Burial follows at Highland Cemetery.

Mrs. Scott died May 11, 2004, at a local nursing facility. She was born Nov. 4, 1907 at Conway, Indian Territory, to John Wesley and Ruby Adams Murphy. She lived in this area all of her life, attending schools at Union Valley and Stonewall and graduating from Horace Mann High School.

She and Herman “Mick” Scott were married Feb. 16, 1929, at Roff. He died Feb. 12, 1991.

Mrs. Scott was a cook for the Union Valley and Stonewall schools, retiring with more than 25 years of service. She was also a founding member of the Union Valley First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie Scott; a great-grandson, Jared Benson; three sisters, Myrtle Burns, Alta Adams, Esta Lee Scot; and two brothers, Bedford Forrest “Bud” Murphy and Adolphus Morris “Ballie” Murphy.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce Scott and wife June, Stonewall, and Gerald Scott and wife Christine, Harrisonville, Mo.; two daughters, Judy Johnson and husband Ron, Arlington, Texas, and Mary Beth Hunsucker and husband Glenn, Oklahoma City; three brothers, Sam Murphy, Tulsa, John W. Murphy and Horace E. Murphy, both of Ada; grandsons, David Scott and wife, Julie, Mark Hunzaker and wife Susan, Glen Scott, Steve Scott and wife Jane, and Keith Scott and wife Susan; granddaughters, Elaine Benson and husband Kevin, Jeanne Teel and husband Terry Don, and Scotti Johnson and husband Rolando Ramirez; great-grandchildren, Greg Scott, Bryan Scott, Nathan Hunzaker, Rebecca Scott, Brooke Heather Scott, Jacob Scott, Michelle Hunzaker, Victoria Ferdinand, Cason Teel, Kristin Benson, Kacy Benson, Sarah Elizabeth Scott and Ronnie Raquel Ramirez.

Bearers are grandsons, David Scott, Mark Hunzaker, Glen Scott, Steve Scott, Keith Scott, and great grandson, Greg Scott.

Honorary bearers are Bob Langley, Mark Walls, Bill Newport and Dean Stephens.

ADA — Services for Winifred Aleene McCauley, 85, Ada, are 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, the Rev. Barry Worcester officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. McCauley died May 12, 2004, at Ada. She was born Sept. 19, 1918, at Ada to William Davis and Gussie Blanche Medlock Cummings.

She attended more than two years of business courses at East Central Teacher’s College. She was a secretary/bookkeeper for 20 years at the McBride Clinic and later for a number of years at Imperial Mud Company.

She and Clarence Richard McCauley were married Jan. 8, 1939, at Knox. He died April 27, 1985, at Ada.

Mrs. McCauley was a member of the First Christian Church’s Wimodausis Guild for many years and had also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary since World War II. She joined the National Secretaries Association, later known as Business and Professional Women, in the mid-1940s and remained active into the 1980s.

She also belonged at various times to the Ada Historical Society and the Ada Writers Club, and has volunteered at the Ada Public Library’s Literacy Program and the Chickasaw Nation’s Library. She was affiliated with First Christian Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. McCauley was preceded in death by two infant daughters, born 1939 and 1940; her parents; and brothers James Davis Cummings and William Jackson Cummings.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Kay Morris and husband Prestley Dean, Dallas, Texas; a sister, Mary Jane Crossland, Pleasanton, Calif.; and a brother, John Thomas Cummings.

CLIFFORD JAQUESS

IRVING, Texas — Services for Clifford Burlyn Jaquess, 93, Irving, formerly Ada, Okla., are 2 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Ada, the Rev. David Sutton officiating. Burial follows at Swan Hill Cemetery, Ada.

Mr. Jaquess died May 10, 2004, at his home in Irving. He was born March 12, 1911, near Willis, Okla., to Wilburn and Emma Cowen Jaquess. He attended Littlefield High School.

He and Hazel Henrietta Hanks were married in 1934.She died Feb. 14, 2002.

Mr. Jaquess was a builder, investor and farmer in the Littlefield area, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Littlefield.

He and his wife retired to Ada in 1975 and moved to Irving in April 1999.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Jaquess, Oct. 8, 1961; brothers, Hack Jaquess, Royce Jaquess, Rex Jaquess, Cory Jaquess, Curtis Jaquess and Gerald Jaquess; and a sister, Pearl Brandon.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Jaquess, Irving, and Lloyd Jaquess, Littlefield; a daughter, Jean Eddy, Irving; a brother, Travis Jaquess, Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great- great-grandchild.

GUSSIE MCKINZIE

ADA — Services for Gussie Douglas McKinzie, 77, Ada, are 11 a.m. Saturday at Reaper Baptist Church, the Rev. Freddie Clark Jr. officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mrs. McKinzie died May 9, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born July 20, 1926, at Maxwell to Willie and Johnnie Mae Brown Seals. She attended school at Maxwell and Napier, and lived in the Ada area all her life.

She and Marshall McKinzie were married July 20, 1945, at Ada. He died May 21, 1996, at Ada.

Mrs. McKinzie was a custodian at East Central University and retired after 20 years of service. She was a member of Reaper Baptist Church where she served on the board of trustees, usher board, church choir, missionary society and love ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Johnnie Seals; two brothers, Calvin Seals and Curtis Seals; and three great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Weaver and husband Eddie, Ada; a sister, Bertha Seals, Oklahoma City; five brothers, Raymond Seals and wife Doretha, Spencer, Elie Seals, Walter Seals, both of Ada, Doug Seals, Lawton, and Willie Seals Jr. and wife Helen, Pauls Valley; two grandsons, Michael Rogers and Craig Rogers, of the home; four granddaughters, Tina Rogers, Carmen Weaver and Pamelia Weaver, all of Ada, and LaShawn Gallimore and husband Bill, Mesquite, Texas; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Bearers are Paul Watson, Dermey Washington, Tony Jeffers, Harvey Gray, Billy Blue Jr., Steven Seals and Jeffery Seals.

Mr. Jaquess died May 10, 2004, at his home. He was born March 12, 1911, near Willis, Okla., to Wilburn and Emma Cowen Jaquess. He attended Littlefield High School, Littlefield.

He and Hazel Henrietta Hanks were married in 1934. She died Feb. 14, 2002.
