Patricia Ruth (Atha) Garbutt, 82 year-old, longtime Seminole resident passed from this life Thursday, February 25, 2010, at her home in Seminole, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 30, 1928, in Cromwell, Oklahoma, to parents Herbert Atha and Ruth (Kipps) Atha.
Patricia had attended Seminole, New Lima, Sapulpa and Maud Schools before she went on to attend pharmacy school at the University of Oklahoma, where she earned her degree in pharmacy. While attending OU she was active in the OU marching band, where she played the clarinet.
On December 23, 1948, she married the love of her life George H. Garbutt, at the McFarland Memorial Methodist Church, in Norman, Oklahoma.
Following her graduation from the University of Oklahoma on June 6, 1949, Pat worked at several different pharmacies including, Shuler Rexall Drug, in Maud, Parks Drug, in Seminole, Seminole Hospital and the Alaska Pharmacy for a time while living in Alaska.
Patricia was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Seminole, where she was involved with the "W.M.U.", Women’s Missionary Union. She had also worked with the youth at the First Methodist Church, in Seminole, for several years. Patricia also enjoyed painting, reading, being with people cross country skiing, in Colorado, bird watching and certainly she loved being with her grandchildren.
Patricia leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 61 years, George Garbutt, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron Garbutt and his wife Becki, of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Patrick Garbutt and his wife Paula, of Seminole, Oklahoma; grandchildren and their spouses, Bart and Kim Garbutt, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Bonnie Garbutt, of Breckenridge, Colorado, Libby and Nick Atyia, of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Michael Garbutt, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Julia and Jon David Byrum, of Bentonville, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren, Reid Garbutt, Gabriel Atyia and Easton Atyia; as well as a host of other family and dear friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2010, at The First Baptist Church, located at 420 Reid Street, in Seminole. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, in Seminole, Oklahoma. Russell Vicars will officiate the service.
The family has designated the First Baptist Church "Bridge Fund" P.O. Box 310, Seminole, Oklahoma, 74818, as appropriate for memorial donations.

Esther Gentry
Esther Marie (Armstrong) Gentry, longtime Pottawatomie County resident, passed from this life on February 10, 2010, in Seminole, Oklahoma, at the age of 94.
Esther was born on February 8, 1916, in Maud, Oklahoma, to J.C. Armstrong and Mary T. (Slape). On October 10, 1945 she married Leonard Gentry, in Shawnee, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on May 23, 1984.
Esther is survived by one son, William C. Sims, of Ratliff City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Joan Allen, of Maud, Oklahoma; one sister, and brother-in-law, Jean Lytle and husband Owen, of Maud, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren, Randy Allen and wife Alayne, Steve Allen and wife Barbara, Jeffrey Allen and wife Carla, Wendy Stone and husband Mark, Sauney Davis and husband Tom; as well as 14 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, in Maud, Oklahoma.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2010, at the Open Door Church of God, 1200 N. Tucker, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Sidney Freeman and James Douglas will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery, in Maud, Oklahoma.

Troy George
Troy Lee George past away February 16, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital, in Tulsa. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 4, 1942. The majority of his life was spent in Oklahoma; his younger years in Seminole; 20 plus years in the Hennessey/Waukomis area; 15 years in Perkins; and the remaining 5 years in Bixby.
He had a career in the oil field from 1970-96 when he went to work for Bentley Tank Service, of Coyle. He retired in 2001.
Troy was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Fay Jensen, and grandparents Charlie Wilson George and Eva Jane George.
He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Jane George, of Bixby and Yvonne Hermann, of Claremore; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two siblings, Karen Jane Thurman, of Perkins, and Paul K. Jensen, of Stillwater; one aunt; and one uncle, both of Edmond; and numerous cousins and friends.
Georgan Gile
Longtime Seminole resident Georgan Gile died on August 2, 2010 in Seminole at the age of 70.
Georgan was born on August 4, 1939 in Commerce, Texas to Jack Felton and Dixie (Ingram) Busbee.
She worked as a secretary and office manager until her retirement.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Dan and Gayle Gile of Boynton Beach, Florida and one sister Mary Helen Adams of Seminole, Oklahoma, two grandchildren, , Oklahoma, three great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Robert Giles
Former Konawa resident Robert Lindley Giles, age 82, died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Jan Frances Care Center, in Ada.
He was born on Feb. 1, 1928, in Meridian, Miss., to Lillian (Harper) and Frank Lindley Giles. He was a mechanic by trade.
He is survived by his wife, Jeana (Neal) Nelson; and stepdaughter, Jeana Paul, of Hayden, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
No memorial services are scheduled; however, a memorial book is available for signing at Swearingen Funeral Home, located at 217 N. Broadway, in Konawa.
Mae Gillespie
Former Seminole resident Mae Esther Gillespie, died, May 11, 2010 at Three Rivers Nursing Home in Three Rivers Texas. She was a Seminole resident for 50 plus years.
Mae was born to parents; Daniel and Alice (Howes) Rehkopf, May 5, 1912 in Cedar Twp, Osceola, Missouri.
Mae was an office manager and veterinarian assistant at State Street Animal Hospital in Seminole, Oklahoma, a member of the First Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
She married Montie Guy Gillespie on February 16, 1944, at Pratt, Kansas, he preceded her in death on May 24, 1957.
Mae is survived by twin children; son, Marvin Gillespie of Pensacola, Florida and daughter, Frances Swenson of Tilden, Texas. Two grandchildren.
Mae preceded in death by; parents, husband Guy Gillespie, brother Orlan Rehkopf and infant sister.
Funeral service of Mae will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Old Historic Strothers Chapel, interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, Oklahoma.

Frankie Gilley
Service of Remembrance for Cromwell resident Frankie Dean Gilley will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 17, 2010 at The Cromwell Church of Christ with James Branscum officiating.
Frankie was born November 19th, 1934 in Cromwell, OK to Emit Franklin and Beulah Carlene (Vineyard) Carter, she died on Thursday, May 13th, 2010 at The Creek Nation Hospital in Okemah at the age of 75 years.
Frankie was a graduate of East Central University, receiving a Bachelor of Science and later worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a Contract Negotiator. She was a member of Cromwell Church of Christ. During her spare time she loved to spend time with her two grandchildren, and going shopping, reading her Bible and cross-stitching.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Irvin Lee Carter, Randal Wayne Carter and a grandson.
Survivors include her husband Norman of the home: children Ginny Armstrong of North Augusta, SC: Kathy Brown of Prague, OK: Carlene Trapp of Amarillo, TX: Norman Franklin Gilley of Amarillo, TX: Peggy Edmonds of LeGrande, OR: Joy Toll of Portland, OR: Theresa Schuneman of Yukon, OK; twenty-one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Two sisters Kitty Sue Welch of OKC, and Nancy Carlene Johnson of Tyler, TX: and a host of other relatives and friends.

Rex Ginn
Rex Allen Ginn, 44, longtime Maud resident died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at his home in Maud.
Rex was born June 8, 1966 to Bobby Eugene and Erma (Beaty) Ginn in Orange County, California. Rex moved to Maud at age 9.
Rex attended school at St. Louis Schools and Graduated from Maud High School.
He was a member of the St. Louis First Baptist Church and was an avid OU Fan. He was a truck driver for Pottawatomie County District # 3.
Rex married Kristi Bailey Ginn on October 12, 1996 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
His wife Krisi Ginn of Maud, survives Rex.
His Mother Erma Ginn of Asher; two sons Kyle Ginn of Fittstown, and Eric Powell of Prague; a daughter Britni Ginn of Maud; two brothers Rusty Ginn of St. Louis, and Dennis Ginn of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and two sisters Rita Ginn of St. Louis, and Anita Castro of Tecumseh; and his best friend Johnny McCracken of Maud, also survive him.
Memorial services are planned for 10 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2010 at The St. Louis First Baptist Church in St. Louis, with Rev. Glen Peck officiating.

Donald Gober
Donald Quenton Gober, longtime Seminole resident, entered eternal life on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Veteran’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was 61 years old.
Donald was born in Lake Village, Arkansas on August 19, 1949 to Quenton and Betty (Howell) Gober.
On June 24, 1989 he married Linda (Williams) Gober in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Donald leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 21 years, Linda; 2 sons, Brian Gober of Seminole and Michael Ojeda; 5 daughters, Stacy Gober Parker of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Linda, Brenda, Sara, and Amy Ojeda; one brother, Roger Gober of Oklahoma City; 16 grandchildren, Michael, Courtney, Dustin, Max, Shauna, Brandy, Angela, Katrina, Steven, Alisha, Casey, Emily, Michael Jr., Arturo, Christine and Matthew, also 11 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of family and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Quenton and Betty Gober; his mother and step-father, Betty (Howell) and George Penuel, granddaughter Cherokee Gober and grandson Alex Gonzalez.
A come-and-go Celebration of Life reception will be held at Swearingen Funeral Home on Saturday, October 16 from 4:00-5:30p.m.
Burial will take place at Ft. Sill National Cemetery at a later date.
Carson Goforth
Seminole Native Carson Junior Goforth passed away Monday evening June 21, 2010 at Wewoka Care Center at the age of 61 years.
Born February 28, 1949 in Lincoln County, Oklahoma to Jasper Carson Goforth and Thersia ( Jordan) Goforth Marson. He attended John Marshall school and moved to the Seminole area in 1972.
Carson married Nan (Burgess) May 1, 1972 in Gainesville, Texas and to this marriage three children were born.
Carson was a farmer, avid hunter, and fisherman.
He is preceded in death by his father J.C. Goforth and son Danny.
Survivors included his wife Nan of Seminole: three daughters Shannon Goforth of Cromwell, OK: Melissa Goforth of Wewoka; and Tara Cellars of Eufaula, OK: Mother Thersia Marson: three sisters Linda Koehler; Brenda West; and Sherry Sims all of OKC, five grandchildren, Kaylena Goforth, Tyler Butler, Kacey Streater, Clayton Goforth, and Bryce Goforth.
A Service of Remembrance is scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel.

Henry Gordon
Henry Clay Gordon was born on May 11, 1925, in Caddo County, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Monday, October 18, 2010, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.
Henry, the son of George Walter and Ada May (Dowdy) Gordon, was a resident of Seminole. He married Dorothy Lee Mabry on December 1, 1945 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Henry worked as a driller in the oilfield, was a member of the International Order of the Odd Fellows, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Alfalfa.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He was Survived by his wife of 65 years Dorothy Gordon of the home, son and daughter-in-law, Henry Lee and Susan Gordon of Seminole; daughter and son-in-law: Gloria and Vernon Pickett of Seminole; brother Jim Gordon of Carnegie; Sisters Opal McBride of Carnegie, Pearl McBride of Oklahoma City, Bonnie Garner of Chickasha, Georga Nelson of Ft. Cobb, and Laverne Fite of Carnegie; he had four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 2 p.m., at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Doug Turney officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery in Seminole.
