William Paul Haddican, age 91, died at his home, in Seminole, Friday, March 12, 2010. He was born Sept. 29, 1918, to Walter Paul Haddican and Mary (Schmitz) Haddican, in Satanta, Kan.
He graduated from Satanta High School, in Satanta, Kan. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II where he earned the rank of Corporal. He also earned the American Defense Service Medal; American Service Medal; Asiatic Pacific Service Medal; and the World War II Victory Medal.
William married Dana Patricia Ramey in Liberal, Kansas, on May 26, 1950.
He is survived by his wife, Dana, of the home; daughter, Mary Patricia Haddican, of St. John, Kan.; son, Earl Ramey Haddican, of Earlsboro; and brother, Glenn Haddican, of Banning, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maria Kennedy; and brothers, Eugene Haddican and Harold Haddican.
Visitation for William will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Graveside funeral services were scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, March 15, 2010, at Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole. Rev. Gary Wilburn officiated the service.
The family request that donations be contributed in memory of William to a charity of your choice.
Funeral services were under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, of Seminole.
Wallie Haggard
Wallie S. Haggard, 92, Longtime Seminole resident died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Haggard was born October 16, 1917 in Yellville, Arkansas.
Mr. Haggard worked for the City of Seminole for over 19 years in the Sanitation Department; he also had worked for T.H. Lumber Company as a truck driver for a number of years.
After moving to Seminole in 1941 from Arkansas he met and married Mildred Cassell and they were married May 2, 1952 in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Mr. Haggard is survived by his wife of 58 years Mildred Haggard of Seminole, Oklahoma. Two daughters Linda Chesser of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Bonnie Chesser of Seminole, Oklahoma, Three sons Tommy Barton of Shawnee, Oklahoma, James Haggard of Shawnee, Oklahoma and Larry Haggard of Seminole, Oklahoma and Several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Mother Cecil Henderson, Step-father Ira Deen, Daughter Delores Carter and Half-brother John Deen.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Little Cemetery with Manual Rivas officiating.
Casket bearers will be Larry Haggard, Robert Haggard, Paul Norman, William Loudermilk, James Haggard, Tommy Barton, David Greene.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Arthur Haigwood
Arthur Lee Haigwood, 91, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010, in Norman, Oklahoma. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are with Havenbrook Funeral Home, in Norman, Oklahoma.
Mr. Haigwood was born June 1, 1918, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Mattie Lou Kinslow and Frank Haigwood. He graduated from Wolf High School, in Wolf, Oklahoma. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Infantry. He worked in building maintenance at Oregon State University until his retirement. After retirement, Mr. Haigwood moved back to Oklahoma where he married Betty Cullinson.
Mr. Haigwood was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty.
Survivors include: his sister, Pauline Skinner, of Norman; great niece, Kristin Paige Skinner; and stepsons, Andy and Michael Cullinson.
Jimmy Halk
Jimmy Halk was born March 29, 1939 in Wewoka, OK to George Audros ( G.A.) and Velma Orel (Abel) Halk . He died on Thursday, June 24th, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Phylis Sharon Yahola and a baby sister, Baby Girl Halk.
Survivors include a host of relatives and friends.
Jimmy graduated from Butner High School and attended Oklahoma A & M College. He was a faithful longtime dedicated member of The Wewoka Church of Christ and loved spending time with children. He was employed as Retail Clerk for P. Magnum.
Memorials may be made to the Wewoka Church of Christ Youth Program or donations to any Children's Charity.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 28, 2010 1:00 p.m. at Wewoka Church of Christ with Aaron Alsbrook officiating and a private interment at Butner Cemetery north of Wewoka, Oklahoma

Vincent Haney
Longtime Seminole area resident Vincent Bryant Haney passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the age of 47.
Vincent was born on April 5, 1963 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Dora (Bear) and Ernie Haney.
He graduated from Strother High School in 1981.
He was a member of the Hecete Band, Alligator Clan and a Seminole Nation Tribal Member. He was an avid OU and sports fan. He also loved music.
Vincent began his career with Exxon Mobile on July 10, 1991 where he was a production specialist in the recycling department for 19 years. He married Deanne (Miller) on November 23, 1999 in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Vincent was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, son, nephew and friend and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Deanne Haney of the home, three sons, Colton Haney, Connor Haney and Zac Self and daughter, Kelsey Neconish all of the home. He is also survived by his mother, Dora Haney of Shawnee, three brothers and sister-in-laws; Tracy and Paula Haney of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, Stacy Haney and Mary Soap of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Eric Haney and Redena Colungo of Shawnee, Oklahoma, brother and sister-in-law, Billy Tiger and Dana Miller, aunt, Nora Lefthand and uncles, Porter Bear, Jr. Ron Bear and Jerry Haney, numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
He is preceded in death by his father Ernie Haney and grandparents, Porter and Venus Bear and Willy and Winey Haney.
Wake services will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday July 9, 2010 wake services will be held at the Hitchitee United Methodist Church beginning at 6:00 P.M.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Strother Gym with Pastor Randall Miller, George Mooney and Billy Merritt officiating. Interment will follow at Bear Family Cemetery.

Peggy Hanun
Longtime Seminole resident Peggy Jerhea Hanun, age 70, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Unity North Hospital, Shawnee.
She was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Seminole, to Marcus Marion and Clara Jane (McKinster) Edgell.
She was a health care provider. She belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Rebekah Lodge, and held the offices of Noble Grand and Vice Grand Lodge Deputy.
She married Jack Arnold Hanun on Nov. 30, 1993, in Seminole.
She is survived by her daughters, B.J. Irwin, of Henderson, Nev., and Charlynn "Bo" Jones, of Seminole; brother, Harold Edgell, of Seminole; sisters, DeWanda Edgell, of Seminole, Iola Brown, of Oklahoma City, Marketta Barnum, of Chinook, Ariz., and Carolyn Hopper, of St. George, Utah; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Carl and Daryl Edgell; and sisters, JoAnn Cooper, Mae Longan and Jessie Leachman.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Presiding will be President James Choate. Internment will take place at Little Cemetery, Seminole County.
Casket bearers: Billy Choate, Steven Choate, Paul Choate, Jason Choate, Wayne Cook and Rocky Watson.
Honorary Casket bearers: Carl Watson, Jack Mattingly, Jr., Robert "Sir Bob" Nance, George Higdon, Charles White and Bobby Woods.

Joan Harber
Joan S. Harber died at her daughter’s home, in Grapevine, Texas, on Feb. 9, 2010. She was born Oct. 22, 1929, to Herman and Florance Swanson, in Oklahoma City. She married Glen Alton Traughber, in 1951, and spent the first few years of marriage in Tripoli, Libya, where Glen was stationed in the U.S. Air Force. Glen died in 1960. She married Richard Edwin Harber, of Seminole, several years later.
She was involved in many community projects in Seminole, including the Elks Lodge, OSU Extension Group and Community Service.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail Anthony, of Grand Junction, Colo., and Terri King, of Grapevine, Texas; three grandchildren; and brothers, Herman Swanson and Richard Swanson.
She was preceded in death by her husbands.

Memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at the Historic Strothers Chapel, Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole.
Mark Harber
Burial Services for Seminole native, Mark Harber, are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Harber was a resident of Burton, Kansas. He died at age 68 on December 8, 2009.
He was born in Seminole to the late Frank Hershell Harber and Willie Marie (Harmon) Harber.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, a brother, Frank Harber II, and a sister, Janie (Harber) Compton.
He is survived by his daughters, Staphanie York of Texas and Kelly McAllister of Kansas, a son-in-law, 3 granchildren all of Kansas.
Dorothy Harden
Dorothy Lola (Childs) Harden, 88, longtime Seminole resident died Thursday, October 07, 2010 in Seminole.
She was born September 4, 1922 in Kansas City, Missouri to Levi and Edna (Litreal) Jones.
Harden was retired from Seminole Hospital in the housekeeping and laundry departments after more than 20 years of service.
She attended the Freewill Baptist Church.
Harden was very active for many years after retirement.
She loved crocheting, fishing, writing poetry and drawing and doing cartwheels till the age of 69.
Her first husband and father of her children Ralph Homer Childs who died in 1987 and her second husband Orville Harden who died in 1997 preceded her in death.
Her parents, a sister, Sarah Bell Hall and four brothers Milton Jones, Benjamin Jones, Tom Jones, Lester Jones, also preceded her in death, along with two grandchildren, Le Queta Brookshier and Chris Shelton and one great grandchild, Joshua Brown.
Two sons, Ralph Childs of Cookson, and Jack Childs of Seminole survives her.
Two daughters, Freda Graalfs of Cookson, and Marie McElhaney of Vian, also survive her.
Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren also survive her.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jim Lawrence will officiate the service with burial following at Little Cemetery.
