Robert Louis "Bob" Lennard, 90, longtime Seminole resident passed away Friday at the Norman Veterans Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
Robert was born on July 3, 1920 to Oscar L. and Minnie Lou (Crisp) Lennard in Morringsport, LA.
Mr. Lennard moved to Seminole from Dallas, Texas in 1989, while in Dallas he worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a Deputy Collector for 25 years.
After moving to Seminole he married Helen Ann (Ishmael) Jackson of January 28, 1989 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma., where they were members.
Bob was very active in the Seminole and Shawnee Bowling Leagues, which he loved; he also was an avid bird watcher and raised birds.
Mr. Lennard proudly served his country during World War II, serving in the United States Marine Corp. He served from 1941 to 1945 as a sergeant. He also fought in the Battle for Iwo Jima during the war.
Mr. Leonard is survived by his wife Helen Lennard of the home in Seminole; a daughter and son-in-law Tanya and David Benson of Dallas, Texas. A stepson and his wife Ronnie and Linda Jackson of Waurika, Oklahoma and stepdaughter and her husband, Patsy and Wendell Hamilton of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
One son Bill Lennard preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Seminole with Rev. Russell Vicars officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.
Grandsons will be casket bearers.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Memorial donations may be made to favorite charity, or those connected with the U.S. Marine Corp. or Veterans Groups.
Lois Lester
Asher resident Lois Marie (Blackwell) Lester, age 93, died Monday, March 8, 2010, at Sunset Estates Nursing Home, in Tecumseh.
She was born Nov. 13, 1916, in Ringling, to Joe W. Blackwell and Flora (Nell) Blackwell. She married Lewis Lester on March 20, 1937, in Grady. She moved back to Asher, from California in 1972, and she worked as a waitress. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Asher, and she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Bob Lester, of Asher; daughter, Bonnie Allen Olive, of Asher; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Wayne Lester; sisters, Minnie Copeland and Zellar Davis; and brother, Nual Blackwell.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Thursday, March 11, at the First Baptist Church, in Asher, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Konawa. Burial will follow at 4 p.m., at Ringling Memorial Cemetery, in Ringling. Rev. Dwayne Johnson and grandson, Grady Lester will officiate.
Pallbearers will be: Grady Lester, Glen Lester, R.J. Duck, Mason Allen, Gary Allen, and Dudley Hornback.
Marjorie Lester
Funeral Services for longtime Seminole resident Marjorie B. Lester are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in the Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gus Monreal officiating.
Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.
Lester died March 28, 2010 in Shawnee at the age of 86.
She was born on February 22, 1924 in Healdton to Elias Preston Nickens and Deloree (Penney) Nickens.
Lester was a nurse’s aide and homemaker. She was a member of God’s Assembly Church in Seminole and was a prizewinner at the County Fair for her cakes and candy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Robert E. Huber the father of Jeremy, Dee Ann and Suzzettee, her second husband, J.A. Lester, the father of Jay A. Lester, two sisters and a son-in-law, Jim.
She is survived by two sons; Jeremy Robert Huber of New York, and Jay A. Lester of Oilton; two daughters; DeeAnn Gurley of Seminole, and Suzzette Williamson and of Ardmore.
Nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren also survive her.
Addison Lewis
Former Seminole resident Addison Darnell "Sunny Boy" Lewis, age 72, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010.
He was born March 3, 1937, to Willie Lee and Minnie (Woodfork) Lewis. He attended school at Booker T. Washington, in Seminole. He was baptized at an early age into the Galilee Baptist Church.
He joined the United States Navy in 1954; he served on the USS Yorktown until 1957. He was honorably discharged from the service. He lived at the Clinton Veterans Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, in Seminole. Interment will follow with military honors in the Veterans section of Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole. Minister Jerry L. Grayson, Sr. will officiate the service.
Casket bearers will be: Samuel Woodfork, Sr., Samuel T. Woodfork, Jr., Kevin M. Woodfork, II., and Reginald Bass.
Flower bearers will be: Freda Woodfork, Karla Woodfork, Karoletta Woodfork and Kozetta Lucas.
Usher will be: Kellye Woodfork.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole.
Dianne Lewis
Dianne Lewis, life long Seminole, resident died on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Midwest City, Oklahoma at the age of 61.
Dianne was born March 13, 1949 at Seminole, to parents Cephus Lewis and Vina Dial.
Dianne was a retired Nurse’s Aid and a member of the Open Arms of Faith Church.
She is survived by three brothers; Denver Malone, Richard Cochran, Bennie Cochren. She is also survived by six sisters; Demple Tellie, Christeen Wimbush, Rovan Jenkins, Dora Thomas, Tillie Bizzell and Luretta Hornsby.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents; Vina Cochran and Cephus Lewis, one brother, C.J. (Sockman) Morrison and two sisters, Clemmie Daniels and Birththeen Morrison.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole. Officiating minister will be Pastor Jonathan Simpkins, assistant minister will be Elder William Haley. Interment will be St. Matthews Cemetery.
Casket bearers are; Johnny Burner, L.B. Garfield, Kenny Berry, Ray Jackson, Ray Daniel and Donnie Hardeman. Honorary bearers are; Torris Louie, Patrick Thomas, Kevin Lonnie, Johnny Bizzell, III., Clarence Morrison, Jr. and Sammy Simpkins.
Ricky Lewis
Graveside services for Seminole resident Ricky Lee Lewis are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at Resthaven Memorial Garden in Seminole.
Revs. Bruce Benson and Jess Power will officiate.
Services will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
Ricky passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010 in Seminole at the age of 51.
He was born to John Vandever Lewis and Wilma Jean Ross on June 3, 1958 in Seminole.
Ricky received his High School GED, and worked as an Auto Sales Consultant.
He was of Protestant faith.
Ricky is survived by his father, John V. Lewis of Seminole; two sons, Shannon Lewis of Seminole and Ryan Lewis of McAlester; four daughters, Amanda Lewis, Michelle Lewis, Ashley Lewis, all of Drumright, and Megan Lewis of Wewoka; one brother, John M. Lewis of Seminole; one sister, Barbara Lewis Hail of Hennessey; two grandchildren, Jordan Lewis and Kailee Lewis, and one on the way (a girl).
He is preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Lewis; and one sister, Anna Lewis Hail.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Lewis, Billy Hill, Donald Emmitt, Jeff Lewis, James Hail and Mike White.
Honorary bearer will be Ryan Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to "Recovery in Christ" of the Community of Christ Church on behalf of Ricky Lewis.
Warren Lindley
Warren Lindley, 57 year-old, Hartshorne resident passed from this life on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at McAlester Regional Health Center he was born on Aug. 25, 1953 in Ada to Warren Elvin and Wanda (Bryant) Lindley.
Warren grew up farming in Calvin and Stuart and graduated from Stuart High School in 1971.
He married Clidia Guinn on Aug. 25, 1973 in Haywood.
Warren started working in the grocery business in Stuart for Sam Rambo at Sam’s Grocery.
He later went to college in Ada and worked at Safeway for Garland Nichols and later became manager at the Safeway store in Midwest City.
While in Midwest City Warren read about a grocery store for sale in Hartshorne.
He and Clidia bought the Hartshorne Market in 1979, later renaming it Lindley’s Grocery, and have operated the store since then.
He was also a part of Misty Valley/Blue Valley Water Company, and had interest in many other business ventures in Hartshorne and the surrounding area.
Warren also loved to ranch and believed in hard work and hard play.
He always found time to play and spend quality time with his grandchildren, which included four wheeler rides that required numerous cookie breaks and scenic views, where large amounts of sugar and caffeine were provided before returning the kids to their parents.
Warren loved OU sports, traveling and eating a good steak. They also enjoyed spending time in Branson with their kids and grandkids. He also relished his trips to Colorado with some of his best friends for golf and elk hunting. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Warren is survived by his wife, Clidia Lindley, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Sassy Lindley of Seminole and Jason and Kristi Lindley of Hartshorne; one daughter and son-in-law, Kari and Bryce Lawson of Edmond; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Blake, Holli and Brett Lindley, Carter and Lydia Lawson, and Crewe and Savanna Lindley; his father, Elvin Lindley of Stuart; one brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Renea Lindley of Piedmont; one sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Robert Carlton of Atwood; his mother-in-law, Priscilla Guinn of McAlester; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry Shackleford of McAlester and Carolyn and Johnny Benedict of Coalgate; and several nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Hartshorne Elementary School Activity Center. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne with Dr. Jim Utterback, Wes Brown, Ken Heupel and David Mass officiating the service.
Casket Bearers will be: Mike Williams, H.L. Dollins, Wes Brown, Dr. Jim Utterback, Dan Boren and Richard Leblance.
Honorary Bearers will be: Pete Vinzetta, Billy Ray Ziverk, Carl Voss, Ken Bass, Roi Nelson, Garland Nichols, Tracy Adams, Jimmy Russell, Mike Russell, Larry Morgan and Lee Morgan.

Ivohne Lockhart
Ivohne Lockhart passed away on Friday evening, February 26, 2010, at Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years.
She was the daughter of Elisha Lee Brown & Maggie Zella (Spencer) Brown, born on April 6, 1927 in Howe, Texas.
Lockhart was brought up and attended schools in Seminole, Oklahoma and was a graduate of Seminole High School.
She was married to Edgar ‘Buddy’ Lockhart in 1952 at Henryetta, Oklahoma.
They settled in Seminole, where they have lived in the same home since 1955.
Lockhart worked for many years as manager of the Seminole Package Store.
She was a very good dancer and won several contests, and she especially loved country-western style dancing.
She loved listening to music, particularly in her later years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters, Wyma Jo Simple and Vera Belle Carroll.
She is survived by one daughter, Terri Lockhart, of Tulsa; one brother, Lee Brown, of Grand Prairie, Texas; two sisters, Vivian Haffner of Seminole, Oklahoma and Joyce Moore of McMinnville, Oregon; one son-in-law, William Ball, of Seminole; numerous nieces and nephews, various other relatives and many friends.
