Chrisman Theodore McGeisey, lovingly known to family and friends as Teddy or Tedd, passed gently in sleep on June 21, 2010.
Teddy was born in Los Angeles, California on December 22, 1950 to Thomas and Jane (Herrod) McGeisey.
Teddy served in the Army during the Vietnam Era and retired from the Air Force.
He graduated from UCLA with an architecture degree.
He is blessed with three children and survived by; Genevieve McGeisey, Erica McGeisey, and Chrisman McGeisey and grandchildren Dallas McGeisey, Ryan Jones, Matthew and Gabrielle Jones, Brennden McGeisey, Justice and Britton Welch, Isabella and Mekko McGeisey and Kaleb Hente.
He is preceded in death by his father Thomas McGeisey.
His mother, Jane McGeisey; siblings, Thomas McGeisey, Jr., Dwight McGeisey and Marilyn McGeisey; children and numerous nieces and nephews are issuing an invitation to celebrate and remember Teddy's life and achievements.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Indian Nation Baptist Church from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., wake services will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the Indian Nation Baptist Church on Thursday, June 24. Memorial Services are scheduled for Friday, June 25 at 10:00 A.M. at the Indian Nation Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Barnett officiating.
Herman McMullin
Herman Clifteen "Mr. Mac" McMullin, age 83, of Commerce, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2010 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born November 24, 1926 in Cromwell to Herman Lee McMullin and Penelope Rebecca Ann Hamilton.
Herman served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946 in Europe.
Upon discharge, he attended and graduated from East Centrtal University in Ada.
He moved to the Pitcher-Cardin area in 1951 and began a long educational career that ended upon his retirement from the Pitcher-Cardin School District in 1988.
He served many years as mayor of Cardin.
Herman was a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma (Hecete Band).
On June 1, 1952, he married Grace Elizabeth Sanders who survives him of the home.
He is also survived by three sons and two daughters: Larry R. McMullin and wife Mary Kay of Springfield, Mo., Gary L. McMullin and wife Debbie of Flower Mound, Texas, Charles D. McMullin and wife Ann of Claremore, Elizabeth Ann Littlejohn and husband Scott of Commerce, and Rebecca Ann Thomasson and husband Troy of Quapaw; one brother, Gene McMullin of Kingfisher; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Miami, Oklahoma.
Alice Meek
Alice M. Meek, 65 year-old, Norman resident died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, in Norman, Oklahoma. She was born Dec. 21, 1944, in Seminole, to Mike Champ and Zella Mae (Combs) Champ.
She married James "Leroy" Meek on April 6, 1960, in Seminole.
She had worked as a Nursing C.N.A. at Midwest City Regional Hospital for over thirty years before she retired. She was a member of the Seven Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her husband; sons, Danny Meek, of Noble, and Michael Meek, of Harrah; daughter, Tammy Cross, of Seminole; brother, Harold Champ, of Wilson; sister, Sue Mouser, of Moore; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Lillian Bailey.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with Ernie Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Wolf Cemetery located south of Seminole.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Marie Meeks
Long time Seminole resident, Marie Meeks, died of cancer on August 6, 2010.
Marie was born on July 9, 1948 in Stockton, CA., to Roy Wayne VanNorsdall and Thelma Loraine Coose. She was one of nine children.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, four siblings, her daughter Sherry Joann Payton, and her husband Joe Richard Meeks.
Marie is survived by her eldest daughter Kathryn (Kat) Payton of Seminole, two granddaughters, four siblings, as well as a host of other family and friends.
Marie worked as a waitress and home health provider. She collected Betty Boop, trolls, butterflies and cabbage patch.
A memorial service for Marie is pending but will be held at the Lords Community Church of Seminole.
Raymond Melton
Raymond Eugene Melton of Seminole passed away on August 13, 2010. He was a Masonry Contractor.
Raymond was born October 28, 1962 to Ray G. and Jacque "Knowlton" Melton in Oklahoma City Baptist Hospital. He graduated from Pleasant Grove in 1980.
He is survived by sons, Austin Tyler Melton of Oklahoma City, and Jeremy Blake King and Heaven King, and his grandchildren Cameron and Sawyer King of Seminole, the mother of his kids Denise King. His parents Ray G and Jacque "Knowlton" Melton of Seminole, his maternal grand mother, Mary Velma Bray, his sister and brother-in-law Beverly Dawn Hurst, and Robert Neal Hurst of Eufaula, his Nephew Brandon Micheal Caylor of Seminole, and nieces Brittany Hurst and Holli Hurst of Eufaula.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca 2008, and his paternal grandparents Joel and Mary "Lee" Melton, and maternal grandpa Jack Knowlton.
Services will be at Vondel Smith and Sons Mortuary 6934 S Western in Oklahoma City, at 10 a.m. Tuesday August 17, 2010 burial will be at Restheaven Cemetery of 104 and Walker in Oklahoma City Pall Bearers are Dale Huskins, Chistopher Huskins, Jeff Lankford, Jason Phillips, Buddy Taylor, Kenny Towery, Tom Waller.
Blake Miller
Blake Austin Miller, infant son of Brett Chase Miller and Kendell Erin (Kincade) Miller was born October 10, 2010 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Blake entered into Heaven on that same day. "Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God" Mark 10:14
He is survived by his parents, Brett and Kendell (Kincade) Miller of Seminole, maternal grandparents, Kevin and Laura Kincade of Seminole, paternal grandparents, Steve and Kala Miller of Seminole, maternal great-grandparents, Rowdy and Marilyn Kincade of Wewoka, and Alyce M. Scott of Seminole, paternal great-grandparents, Loyd and Leona Miller of Ada, and Raymond and Leora Spurlock of Temple, maternal great-great grandmother, Sylvia Smith of Wewoka, maternal aunt, Khanaa Kincade of Seminole, paternal uncles, Steven Miller and Tyler Miller both of Seminole; and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and other dear family.
Funeral services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. James Branscum will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 15, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
Casket Bearers will be, Robert Cooper and Gordon Elmore.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Lillian Miller
Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident Lillian Miller will be held Tuesday April 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Miller died April 4, 2010. She was born in Newton County, Arkansas on January 6, 1915. She married W.C. Miller in 1935.
The couple moved to Seminole, in 1936. Together they started Millers Plant Farm in 1937. Miller worked at the plant farm until 1970.
At that time the couple moved to their home on EW 1200 where she lived until she went into Seminole Estates Nursing Home June 2005.
Miller was a respected Nurseryman who shared her limitless plant knowledge with people near and far. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Imogene Roe of Seminole, and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband William C. Miller, her step sons Archie Dale Miller of Seminole and Billy Dean Miller of Dallas, Texas, two of her granddaughters and many other family members.
Mildred Miller
Mildred Imogene "Jean" Callis Miller, age 82, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, in Broken Arrow. She was born April 13, 1927, in Seminole, to George Everet and Roberta Marie (Covey) Smith.
She is survived by her sons, Bob Callis, of Coweta, and Mike Callis, of Watonga; seven grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Miller; and daughter, Marie (Callis) Duncan.
Pallbearers will be Scott, Jerrod, Nate and Chuck Callis, Mack "Sonny" Hale, Glenn "Diddle" Hale and Jr. Williams.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Dougherty Baptist Church with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment will be held at 2 p.m., at the Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole.
Services are under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home, of Davis.
Vearl Miner
Vearl Edward Miner was born December 4, 1913, to Lemond Edward and Pearl Elizabeth Turner Miner in Stratford, Missouri, and passed away August 27, 2010, in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
Vearl married Geneva Louise Van Meter on May 23, 1936, in Tulsa.
Doc worked for Cities Services Oil Company for 41 years, a feat of which he was extremely proud. Doc worked for Cities Services in Bowlegs, where he also served on the school board. Transferred to the Lindsay oilfield, Doc joined Calvary Baptist Church and was an active member for over 50 years. Doc enjoyed any activity involving family, gospel music and his church.
Doc was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Geneva of 64 years who died in 2000, a daughter Annette Corder in 1997, and a grandson Aaron in 1990.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert G. and Barbara Miner of Lindsay, Oklahoma and Stephen E. and Linda Miner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Doc also leaves behind one grandson, three granddaughters, four great grandsons, one great granddaughter and one great great grandson.
Also surviving are younger brothers Elden Miner, 90, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Turner Miner, 88, of Springfield, Missouri, and little sister Frances Hennington, 81, of Houston, Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services for Mr. Miner are set for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31st. 2010 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Bro. Bill Baxter officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay. Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
James Mitchell
Funeral services for Wilburton resident James Ray Mitchell, brother of a Seminole resident, are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Old Glory Full Gospel Church in Wilburton.
Brothers Layne Smith, Larry Chesser, Barney Gibson and Tim Campbell will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Mt. Station Cemetery in Wilburton, under the direction of Waldrop Funeral Home of Wilburton.
Mitchell died Saturday, April 3, 2010 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 58.
He was born to Fay Luther and Gladis Audra (Carriger) Mitchell in McAlester on September 2, 1951.
Mitchell was the minister of the Old Glory Full Gospel Church in Wilburton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Mitchell is survived by one sister, Jackie Hennen of Seminole; special friend, Wanda Jean Langford of Gowen; several nieces and nephews; and the church family of the Old Glory Full Gospel Church.
Pallbearers will be Bob Villines, Glenn Harjo, Hayden Jones, Donnie Foye, James Smart, Calvin Coffey, John Parsons, and Ronnie Parsons.
