ADA — Services for William Howard Ready, 91, Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, the Rev. Robert Ware officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Ready died May 9, 2004, at a local nursing facility. He was born Aug. 3, 1912, at Fitzhugh to William Thomas and Sally Jane Ready.
He and Willie Jordan were married June 28, 1947. She preceded him in death Jan. 11, 2000.
Mr. Ready retired in 1973 after 27 years at Tinker Civil Service. He was also a rancher and lived south of Fittstown.
He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church more than 30 years, serving as deacon, and was also a member of Pontotoc Cattleman's Association.
Mr. Ready was preceded in death by two brothers, Bethel Ready and Carlton Ready; and two sisters, Margaret Williamson and Cora Taylor.
Survivors include a sister, Nellie Davis, Rush Springs; several nieces and nephews, and many friends and neighbors.
Bearers are Paul Sutton, Bennie Brown, Johnny Jordan, Henry Francois, John Gayler and Lester Remer.
Honorary bearers are Harold Crawford, Glen Owens and Raymond Voyles.

ADA — Services for Leon Foster Garrett, 83, Ada, are 10 a.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd Kaiser officiating. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mr. Garrett died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1921, at Center to John Pluto and Rae Lanham Garrett. He attended Center Elementary School and graduated from Vanoss High School.
He married Modena Ricketts Dec. 9, 1941, in Gaar Corner.
He was a meter man for Mobil Oil Co., formerly Magnolia Oil Co., retiring in 1982 with more than 31 years of service.
He was a member of Southwest Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Modena Garrett, of the home; two daughters, Cheryl Williamson, Houston, Texas, and Penny Andrews and husband Pat, San Antonio, Texas; brother, O. D. Garrett and wife Thelma, Ada; three grandchildren, Shanna Herbert and husband Brian, Dodge City, Kan., Sean Andrews and wife Leigh, San Antonio, and Sheri Boggess and husband Sean, Phoenix, Ariz.; five great-grandchildren, Brianna Herbert, Marissa Herbert, Kaden Herbert, Garrett Andrews and Lauren Andrews.

BILL SHADLE
DENTON, Texas — Services for William G. "Bill" Shadle, 76, Denton, are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, Jason Sidler and Gerald Stone officiating. Burial follows at Prairie Mound Cemetery.
Mr. Shadle died May 8, 2004, at his home. He was born Oct. 3, 1927, at Houston to William Terence and Maye Brooks Shadle. He was a graduate of Lamar High School, Houston, North Texas State College, Denton, and Southwestern Baptist Seminary, Fort Worth.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He also served as minister of music at First Baptist Church from 1963 until his retirement in 1992.
He and Maxine Tankursley were married March 3, 1951, at Paris.
Mr. Shadle was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alice Beth Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Shadle; three children, Stan Shadle, Charlotte, N.C., Carol Beth Meyerdirk, Denton, and Joanna Toombs, Ada, Okla.; a brother, Ralph A. Shadle, Houston; and 14 grandchildren.

ADA — Services for Myrtle May Sutton, 96, Ada, are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Robert Ware and Ken Butler officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.
Mrs. Sutton died May 9, 2004, at a local nursing facility. She was born Dec. 17, 1907, at the Bebee community, northwest of Ada, to Walter A. and Eula Crow Kirby. She lived in this area all her life and attended school at Walnut Grove and Ada High School.
She and Pleas Sutton were married Nov. 30, 1927. He died in 1982.
She was a homemaker and a longtime active member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Greg and Brandon Sutton.
Survivors include two sons, Pleas Sutton Jr., Wichita, Kan., and Don Sutton, Ada; three brothers, J. O. Kirby, Johnny Kirby, both of Ada and Jim Kirby, Rockwall, Texas; a sister, Mabel Jones, Ada; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers are Paul Sutton, Orlan Dees, Wayne Jones, Gary Kirby, Orval Pittman and Wayne Rodgers.

Mr. Carpenter died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at a Coalgate hospital. He was born March 12, 1954, in Anna, Ill., to Kenneth and Beverly Carpenter. He moved to California in 1955 and came to Ada in 1963. He graduated from Ada High School in 1972 and attended Okmulgee Tech.
In 1973, Mr. Carpenter went to work for Solo Cup Co. and was currently a supervisor. He was a member of Southwest Church of Christ.
He married Karen Marie Elkins Oct. 6, 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Carpenter, of the home; four daughters, Kierra Edgar and husband Jeffrey, Fort Worth, Texas, Kallie D'Aguanno and husband John, Stonewall, Kisha Hodges and husband, Justin, Tupelo, and Megan Whelchel, Blanchard; one son, Chance Kelley, Conroe, Texas; mother and stepfather, Beverly and Bob Steele, Ada; two grandchildren, Breonna D'Aguanno, Stonewall, and Kenneth Hodges, Tupelo; three sisters, Linda Kelley, Norman, Patricia Morris and husband David, Germany, and Brenda Williams and husband Ron, Moore; three stepsisters, Bobbie Phillips and husband Allen, Tulsa, Brenda Roberts and husband Don, Sherman, Texas, and Cindy Brown and husband Robert, Latta.
