Longtime Seminole resident Norma Lea Robbins passed away on February 2, 2010, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 74.
She was born on September 14, 1935 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Grover Cleveland and Stella (Harris) Shockey.
She married Earmond Robbins on October 13, 1954 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on September 26, 1982.
She retired from Seminole Hospital where she worked as a dietician for over 20 years. She taught Sunday School Class at the First Church of God in Seminole where she was a long-time member and was a member of the Carrie Missionary Circle. Her grandchildren were the joys of her life, and she also loved arts and crafts, decorating and making wedding cakes.
She is survived by her son Ronnie Robbins of Seminole, Oklahoma, two daughters, Rosalea Robinson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Penny Claborn and husband Mark of Seminole, one brother, J.C. Shockey of Sallisaw and one sister, Dorothy "Jeannie" Rees of Seminole, Oklahoma. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Elaine Jones and husband Tim of Plano, Texas, Derek Claborn and Fiance Michelle Allain of Ardmore, Drew Claborn of Seminole and two great grandchildren, Karson Jones and Kaden Jones.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Geraldine Tomlin, brother, Homer Shockey and husband Earmond Robbins.
Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, in Seminole.
J.L. Robertson
J. L. Robertson, 74, longtime Sasakwa, Oklahoma resident passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at his home in Sasakwa. J.L. was born May 4, 1936 in Seminole, Oklahoma to J. E. " Jack" and Gladys Roviolent (Saxon) Robertson.
J.L. grew up in the Seminole area and served in the U.S. Army Reserves for several years as a corporal. He had lived and worked in Arkansas and Hugo, Oklahoma most of his adult life. He had worked as a route supervisor for Pepsi-Cola in Hugo, for eight years and he later went to work in commercial refrigeration for Woodbright Equipment Company in Arkansas, and retired in 1987.
J.L. was a member of the Church of Christ and the Odd fellow lodge in Wewoka.
J.L. married Elizabeth Jane (Williams) Robertson in Paris, Arkansas.
His Wife Janie Robertson of the home, four daughters Jennifer & her husband Steve Gordon of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Phyllis and her husband Barry Hill of Hugo, Oklahoma, Angela Watkins of Grandbury, Texas and Janet Queen of Hugo, survive him. One son Steven Robertson of Sasakwa, also survives him. Seven grandchildren: Hanna Robertson, Brock Watkins, Natalie Watkins, Amy and husband Blake Roberts, Ashley and husband Cory Goff, Jessica and husband Jonathan Good, Jeffery Hill and wife Lindsay along with seven great grandchildren survive him.
He is also survived by five sisters Glenda Kelsey and husband John of Chickasha, Carol Palmer of Bowlegs, Joyce Jones and husband Paul of Sasakwa, Brenda Moody and husband Edwin of Bowlegs, and Barbara Bible and husband Jack of Wewoka three brothers Jim Robertson and wife Donna of Hugo, Don Robertson and wife Darlene of Seminole, Randy Robertson and wife Marilyn of Bowlegs, and one sister-in-law Sandy Bandy and husband Richard. Twenty-six nieces and nephews and forty-eight great nieces and nephews also survive him.
Graveside services will be Friday, October 15, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Wolf Cemetery with James Inman officiating. Casket bearers will be Jeffery Hill, Brock Watkins, Paul Jones, John Kelsey, Sr., Eddie Taylor and Gene Choate.
Honorary bearers will be Steve Gordon, Barry Hill, Jimmy Choate, Wayne Taylor, Hiram Roulston and Earl Orr.
J. L. was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Loretta Ann Robertson and a son, Ronald Wayne Robertson, one grandson Travis Jordan Reed, son-in-law, Ken Watkins, two brothers Terry Loyd Robertson and Jackie Ervin Robertson and one sister Geraldean Kean and two nephews and one niece.
Yolanda Robledo
Former Seminole County resident Yolanda Robledo, age 46, died at Integris Baptist Medical Center, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009.
She was born Jan. 29, 1963, to Manuel Robledo and Clara (Carrillo) Adamson, in Los Angeles, Calif. She was a waitress for El Charro Restaurant, in Anadarko.
She is survived by her husband, Travis Talapaw; her mother and step-father, Clara and John Adamson; sons, Manuel Siqueiros, and Jesse Siqueiros both of Shawnee; daughters, Priscilla Yahola, of Shawnee, and Monica Sizueiros, of Maud; brothers, Manuel Robledo, Jr., of Maud, Richard A. Robledo, of St. Louis, Joseph M. Robledo, of Shawnee, and John Shawn Robledo, of North Carolina; sisters, Lupe Soto, of El Paso, Texas, Ginny S. Guzman, of Garden Grove, Calif., and Amanda Wright, of Oklahoma City; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Robledo, Sr.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Konawa, on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Konawa. Fr. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. will officiate.
Bill Rodebush
Memorial services for former Seminole County resident Bill "Rody" Rodebush, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Bishop Chapel of Memories in McAlester.
Rev. Harrell Rodebush will officiate.
Services will be under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory of McAlester.
Military honors will be provided by the Oklahoma National Guard.
Rodebush passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010 at his home in McAlester at the age of 73.
Rody was born on January 31, 1937 to James and Inda (Smith) Rodebush in Konawa.
He grew up in the Konawa/Seminole area and graduated from Seminole High School with the Class of 1955.
Rody married Birthe Hecht on June 7, 1969 in Esbjerg, Denmark.
He attended East Central State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.
Rody was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, and then began working in the oil field.
He worked his way up from mud engineer to international manager, holding numerous positions in sales and administration.
In 1991, Rody retired from Dresser Industries.
Following retirement, Rody raised registered limousin cattle at the Double R Ranch and spent 10 years working at Wal-Mart.
Rody was a member of the Masonic Lodge #550, Elks Lodge #533, the Shriners, and the Scottish Rite.
He served in the Oklahoma National Guard’s 45th Infantry Division.
Rody was preceded in death by his wife, Birthe; parents, James and Inda; brothers JB and Glen; and sister-in-law, Zelda.
He is survived by a daughter, Lena Helmbrecht and her husband Harold of Douglas, Georgia; two sons, Glen Eric Rodebush and wife Carrie of McAlester, and J Wayne Rodebush of McAlester; grandchildren Isom Rodebush, Erica Rodebush, and Destiny Rodebush; nephews, Max Rodebush of Ada, and Jimmy Rodebush of Ada; and great-nephews Rock Rodebush and Matt Rodebush.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Elks Lodge #533, Masonic Lodge #550, Shriners and Scottish Rite.
Ruben Rodriguez
Ruben Rangel Rodriguez, age 33, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, in an automobile accident north of Holdenville.
He was born March 30, 1976, in San Felipe, Guanaguato, Mexico, to Alberto Rangel Mendez and Ma Encarnacion Rodriguez. He was brought up in the San Felipe area, then moved to Oklahoma and lived in Wewoka for a short time before moving to Holdenville. He worked for Commercial Brick Corporation in Wewoka as a brick packager.
He is survived by his wife, Kasina Moppin, of the home; children, Juan Carlos Rangel Picazo and Maria Fernanda Rangel Picazo, both of San Felipe, Guanaguato, Mexico, and Alina Rangel and Alejandra Rangel, both of the home; stepdaughter, Jessica Moppin, of the home; father, Alberto Rangel Mendez, of Cromwell; mother, Encarnacion Rodriguez Arquijo, of San Felipe, Guanaguato, Mexico; sisters, Angelica, Patricia, Leticia, Silvia, twins Beatriz and Cruz, Jaqueline, Margarita, Rosalva, and Maribel Rangel Rodriguez, all of Leon, Guanaguato, Mexico.
Funeral services are scheduled at Lillye Chapel, Fisher Funeral Home, as follows: Rosary on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 6:30 p.m.; Wake on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 6:30 p.m.; Funeral on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2 p.m. Interment will be near his home, in Mexico.
Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home, of Holdenville.
Jennie Ross
Jennie L. "Scottie" Ross, 83, longtime Seminole resident died Thursday, October 21, 2010, after a long bout with Cancer.
She was born January 16, 1927 to Wilbur and Sallie (Larney) Dirt in Seminole County.
Ross was one-half Seminole Tribe and one-half Absentee Shawnee Tribe.
She attended Chilocco and Eufaula Indian Schools, then later Oscar Rose College in Midwest City.
Teaching, whether cultural or modern was her profession. She was a retired teacher form Seminole Public Schools.
She was a lifelong active member of the Gar Creek Ceremonial Grounds; she was currently a member of the Seminole Nation General Council.
Throughout her life she was involved in various committees, activities and organizations within the Seminole Nation.
Preceding her in death were her parents, infant twin sons, two half-brothers and three half sisters and other relatives.
Survivors are one son Ted Harjoe of Shawnee; two granddaughters; five half-sisters, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Harjo officiating.
Burial will follow at Hitchittee Church Cemetery, with B.J. Jackson officiating the burial rites. There are no wake services planned at her request.
Casket bearers will be Felix Brown, Jr., Floyd Brown, (Pvkvny) David Brown, Marcos Briggs, Charlie B. Billie, Donnie Keller, Rick Deer and Ken Chambers.
Fred Roy
Fred Roy, 87 year-old, longtime Maud resident passed from this life Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born July 1, 1922, in Navajo, Montana, to parents Martin Clarence Roy and Frances Madge Irene (LeClair) Roy.
Fred married Reta Schleicher, on May 8, 1971, in Henderson, Nevada. He worked for Greyhound Bus Company, in Tucson, as a bus driver for many years until his retirement, in 1978. The couple then moved to Maud, Oklahoma, where Fred continued to work as a rancher raising Arabian Horses, he also worked for BJ Hughes as a truck driver. Later he and his wife owned and operated the Gas Station in Maud for several years.
Fred was of the Methodist faith and was also a member of the Seminole Elks Lodge and a former Mason.
Fred leaves to cherish his memory his wife of almost 39 years, Reta Roy, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Frank Roy and his wife Jennie, of Maud, Oklahoma, Steve Roy and his wife Helen, of Santee, California and Larry Roy and his wife Terry, of Santee, California; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Heath and her husband Jerry, of El Cajon, California and Lana Wilson and her husband John, of Alpine, California; five grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren as well as a host of other family and dear friends.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents and by two half brothers and one half sister.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, March 26, 2010 at Calvary Cemetery, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Rev. Gary Wilburn will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud, Oklahoma.

Frances Sanders
Bowlegs resident Frances Robilee (Robinson) Sanders, age 67, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at her home, in Bowlegs. She was born May 24, 1942, in Bernie, Mo., to James Henry Robinson and Hollie (Vineyard) Robinson.
She was a housewife who moved to Seminole County eight years ago. She was a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle Church, in Seminole.
She married Daniel James Sanders.
She is survived by her sons, Leonard Sanders and Daniel Sanders, both of Bowlegs; sister, Peggy Causey, of Bernie, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Cremation services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, in Seminole. Private family services are scheduled for a later date.
Raymond Sanderson
Raymond, C. Sanderson, ., 99, passed away May 10, 2010. He was born August 20, 1910 to in Cowlington, OK.
Raymond attended school in Arkansas and taught in a Fort Smith business college before coming to Tulsa in 1936. Raymond retired from Sooner Federal Savings and Loan in 1975 after serving the association for 39 years. He was made an officer of the association in the accounting department as Assistant Secretary and Treasurer and was "foreman" of the book keeping department for many years.
Raymond was a member of the University United Methodist Church and was a member of the board of Stewards for a period of 10 years and chairman of the auditing committee of the Church for 3 years. He was 3 times president of the Kumdouble Sunday School Class of University Church. Raymond was 32 degree Mason of Scottish Rites of Tulsa Consistery and a Knights Templer of the York Rites which consist of Tulsa Chapter Royal Arch Masons, Tulsa Council " 22 and Trinty Commander of Tulsa # 20, past Master of Rock Lodge # 513, Chapter member and 3 times Worthy Patron of Friendship Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Charter Member and twice Watchman of Shepherds of Ruth Shrine #22 of White Shrine of Jerusalem, and Past Royal Patron of the Order of the Amaranth, Tulsa Chapter #23.
He served as Deputy Supreme Watchman of Shepherds of the Supreme Shrine and at another time was Supreme assistant Guard and Grand Sword Bearer of the Grand Court of Oklahoma. He moved to Sasakwa, Oklahoma in February of 2009.
Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Letha, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.He is survived by a son, LeRoy Sanderson and wife, Mary, grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Alvarez Sanderson and Husband, Carlos Reyes, Raymond LeRoy Sanderson and wife, Mary, Janette Lynn Robertson and husband, Will, great-grandchildren, Ethan Davis Sanderson, Rachel Irene Sanderson, William ray Robertson II, Lacey Gabriel Robertson, Mitchell Alexander Ray Sanderson, Madison Natasha MacKenzie Alvarez Sanderson, many nieces and nephews.
