Longtime Seminole resident Bob Sands, age 66, died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at his
He was born Aug. 30, 1943, in Bergman, Ark., to Paul Willard and Verna (Phifer) Sands. He married Sandra Kay (Rhodes) on Dec. 18, 1964, in Seminole.
He worked for Alko-Kober for 24 years in maintenance; he also worked at Wal-Mart part time in the paint and hardware department for two years. He was a member of the Temple of Praise Church, in Seminole. He held church services at the Pioneer Nursing Home for 20 years. He served in the National Guard for five years.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Robin Dillon, of Seminole; brother, Tommy Orr, of Moore; sisters; Wanda Rennie, of Tustin, Calif., and Glenda Resendez, of Pasadena, Texas; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
He is preceded death by his parents; sister, Pauline Sands, and brother, Frankie Orr.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at the Temple of Praise Church with Rev. Harold Turner and Jeff Nance officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Little Cemetery, Little.
Pallbearers will be: Buster McCoy, Tommy Farrow, Doug Graham, Donald Emmitt, Manuel Sanchez and Kevin Pollard.
Honorary Bearers will be: Tommy Stephens, Bob Nance and James Winkcompleck.
Audie Sanford
Funeral services for longtime Holdenville resident Audie Ray Sanford will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Holdenville with Brother Earl Scroggins officiating. Mr. Sanford died on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 57.
Audie Ray Sanford was born November 12, 1952 in Holdenville to Kenneth Sanford and Jean (Jacobs) Carpenter. After graduating from high school, Audie enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for 3 years. Audie worked as a driller in the oilfields for several years.
He later began his pursuit of a teaching degree and received and an Associates Degree from Seminole Junior College and received his Bachelors Degree in Education from East Central University in Ada in 1991. Audie taught Special Education at Moss and Asher Public Schools.
Audie married Beverly (Cheatwood) on September 22, 1984 in Seminole. They lived in Seminole for over 15 years before making their home in Holdenville.
Audie was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Holdenville, Holdenville Masonic Lodge and the Coon Hunters Club. He enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, gardening and spending time with his family. He also coached little league softball and baseball during summers.
Audie is survived by his wife, Beverly of the home; his father, Kenneth Sanford, and wife Beverly of Holdenville; his mother, Jean Carpenter, of Holdenville; his children: Katina Riley of Cushman, Arkansas; Ragina Fowler Scott of Holdenville; Cody Sanford of Holdenville; Heather Presley of Stroud; and Megan Sanford of Earlsboro; three brothers: Danny Sanford, William Sanford and Shawn Sanford, all of Holdenville; one sister, Misty Kirkland of Lamar; a number of grandchildren: Audie is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Leon Barrett, Bob Farinelli, Butch Skipworth, Randy Madron, Wayne Cline and Harold Gordon. Honorary bearers will be Harvey Lee, Roger Lowe and Michael Sandford.
Mr. Sanford will be laid to rest at Non Cemetery in Non, Oklahoma.

Merian Savage
Merian Lee Savage died on Friday, June 25, 2010, in a motorcycle accident near Wetumka. He was 31 years old.
Lee was the son of Lloyd & Deborah (Abshire) Savage, born on September 29, 1978, in Pineville, Louisiana. He was brought up in Arizona, his home for twenty-one years.
In 2004, he moved to Wetumka. He worked as a crew chief for Ram Jack of Oklahoma in Ada. He enjoyed playing X-Box and fooseball, he loved outdoor BBQ and playing horseshoes. His favorite things were riding motorcycles and hanging out with friends.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Deborah Bell of Holdenville and Rex Little of Wetumka; his father, Lloyd Savage of Louisiana; two brothers, Michael Olden of College Station, Texas and Alton Savage of Holdenville; one sister, Patricia Savage of Wetumka; his companion of four years, Carla Malouf, of the home; stepchildren and step-grandchildren; other relatives and friends; a long-time pal, his Boxer dog, Lily.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at Lillye Chapel, Fisher Funeral Home in Holdenville. Rev. James Lawrence was the officiating minister.
Honorary pallbearers were John Rhinehart, Zach Hanks, Kevin Wilbourn, Randy Malouf, Robert Malouf, Alton Savage, Jesse Bunyard, Richard Jones, Kerry Cowell, and his Ram Jack crew and fellow employees.

Paula Sawyer
Paula Darlene Sawyer was born October 13, 1963 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Paul and Deanna Redding. She went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2010.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at First Baptist Church Wewoka, with Bro. Larry Jones and Bro. Bob Spears officiating, and interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Paula was a graduate of Wewoka High School and received an associates degree in nursing from Seminole State College. She later worked for Elmwood Nursing Home as an Registered Nurse and loved all her residents and her co-workers.
On May 15, 1981 Paula and Jesse Sawyer were married in Seminole, Oklahoma and to this marriage four children were born.
Paula loved to go motorcycle riding and spending time at the lake skiing and swimming with her family. She enjoyed watching her kids and grandchildren participate in all their activities and loved her dogs. She was a member of Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death are her Mother Deanna (Arthur) Redding, paternal grandparents Norma and Dean Redding, maternal grandparents Orby and Pauline Arthur.
Survivors include: Father Paul Redding of Wewoka; husband Jesse Sawyer of Wewoka; sister Shelly Thompsonof Quinton, Oklahoma; children Chris Sawyer and wife Mandy of Shawnee; Jessica Treadwell and husband T. Jerry Wayne Scott, 54, life long Seminole resident died Monday, October 18, 2010 at his home in Seminole. Jerry Wayne was born February 18, 1957 in Seminole to Jerry Garl and Margaret Ann (Mason) Scott.
Jerry Wayne attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School in 1974. Jerry Wayne was a Member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole.
Jerry Wayne married Susan Cherry on May 18, 1990 in Seminole.
His Wife, Susan Cherry Scott of the home, one son Jerry Garl Scott and a daughter Elizabeth Ann Scott survive him. His Father Jerry Garl Scott and his wife Rita of Shawnee, and his Mother Margaret Scott of Seminole, also survive him. Jerry Wayne was also survived by his aunts, Linda Novotny, June Hume, Melba Gibbs and Betty Brinsfield. His uncles Bill Scott and his wife Romana. His father and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Jane Cherry also survive him. Other family members include a step-sister Aunnie Meyers, brother-in-law’s Jeff Cherry, Ken Cherry and Chuck Cherry and several nieces and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 4 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Tate and Gordon Melson officiating. Private burial services will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Dorothy Self
Graveside Services for Wewoka resident Dorothy Jean Self are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday May 10, 2010 at Oakwood Cemetery with Aaron Alsbrook of The Wewoka Church of Christ officiating.
Mrs. Self passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010 in Holdenville at the age of 83 years.
Born October 13, 1926 in Holdenville to Wyatt and Ethel Smith, she graduated from Holdenville High School and attended East Central University.
Dorothy Jean Smith and Jesse "Red" Self were married March 15, 1957 in Ada. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2009.
Dorothy worked for Wyatt Smith Drug Store as Pharmacist Assistant, and later at Holdenville Hospital as a Nurses Aide.
In later years she worked for Perryman Sand Pit as Secretary for number of years.
Dorothy loved her Church family at The Wewoka Church of Christ, along with gardening, photography, poetry, crappie fishing, and camping and fishing with Red.
Preceding Dorothy in death are her parents; husband Red Self; daughter Brenda Johnson; and brothers Carl and Jack Smith.
Survivors included: son Wes and wife Kristi Self of Edmond, son Tommy Johnson of Holdenville, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Ida Nelms, along with other relatives and a host of friends.

Grady Shatto
Grady Shatto a Seminole resident, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010.
Shatto moved to Seminole six years ago from Chouteau.
He was born November 10, 1948 at Crane, Texas to parents William Henry and Bessie Trene (Chadic) Shatto.
Shatto was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church and a retired oil field worker where he worked as a roughneck and a roustabout. He also served in the United States Army.
Shatto is survived by his sister, Billie Clower of Seminole,
A memorial service will be held at a later date for Shatto.

Christopher Shelton
Christopher Scott ‘Chris' Shelton, whereabouts unknown for several months, was found in rural Seminole County on Friday, October 1, 2010. He was 27 years old.
Chris was the son of Larry Scott Shelton & Diana (Childs) Shelton, born on March 23, 1983 in Seminole.
He was brought up and attended schools in the Seminole area. Chris loved his wife and children and family.
He spent a lot of time with his father, with whom he had a special and very close relationship. He loved boxing and watching Nascar with his dad, and he loved taking care of his kids.
He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Shelton, on June 5, 2010; maternal grandmother, Rosemary Childs, and paternal grandmother, Christine Shelton; two great-grandmothers, Hattie Hawkins and Dorothy Harden; one uncle, Dale Shelton.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie; three children: Alexis Shelton, Alyah Shelton, and Zackarius Shelton; his mother, Diana Madron and stepfather Randy Madron; stepmother Melissa Shelton; one brother, Kyle Shelton, and two sisters, Jackie Shelton and Scotlyn Shelton; stepbrother Jeremy Madron; childhood friend, Mitch McNabb; paternal grandparents, Bob & Betty Shelton and maternal grandparents, Jack & Doris Childs; four aunts: Courtney (Mark) Wyrick, Jeannie (Randy) Barbre, Rita Goldston, and Gayla Weldon; one niece, Serinady Shelton, and two nephews, Blaiden Shelton and Austyn Zapone; numerous other relatives and friends who love and miss him.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010, 2 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville, with Rev. Earl Scroggins officiating.

Larry Shelton
Larry Scott Shelton, 47 year-old, longtime Seminole County resident passed from this life Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Seminole Medical Center following a motorcycle accident. He was born August 3, 1962 in Oklahoma City to parents Bobby Shelton and Christine (Hankins) Shelton.
Larry graduated from Strothers High School. He later married Melissa Graves on February 5, 2001 in Cancun. Larry was currently working as the service manager at United Motors in Seminole. He had also worked for Gibbs-Stalling in Holdenville and Seminole Ford. Larry was a member of the Seminole First Baptist Church. He enjoyed racecars, riding motorcycles and he was an avid Dale Earnhart Sr. and Jr. fan. Larry took pride in his work and the cars that he worked on.
Survivors include his father Bobby Shelton and his wife Betty of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his wife of nine years Melissa (Graves) Shelton of the home; two sons, Chris Shelton and his wife Victoria Pereyra Shelton of Seminole and Kyle Shelton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two daughters, Jackie Shelton of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Scotlyn Shelton of the home; one sister, Courtney Wyrick and her husband Mark of Seminole, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Doris Graves and her husband Jerry Graves of Waldren, Arkansas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Rhonda Graves of Waldren, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Serinady Maleene Shelton, Blaiden Shane Shelton, Alexis Marie Shelton, Aaliyah Harmony Shelton, Zachariah Xavier Shelton and Austine Zapone; three nephews and one niece and a host of other family and friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his mother, Christine Shelton; one brother, Dale Austin Shelton; and one infant brother, Martin Lynn Shelton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Seminole First Baptist Church located at 420 Reid Street in Seminole, Oklahoma. Russell Vicars will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery north of Seminole.

Orvil Shepherd
Orvil Leroy Shepherd went to be with his Lord on July 24th, 2010 at his home in Wewoka, Oklahoma at the age of 89. Orvil was born February 12th, 1921 to Roy Myrtle Shepherd of Wetumka, Oklahoma.
Orvil was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941; served overseas for some time and was discharged from service in 1945. Orvil was a farmer in Allen, OK until 1980 when he met Pauline. They were married on July 31, 1981. He was a member of Mission Home Missionary Baptist Church in Wewoka. Orvil enjoyed gardening as well as just being at home. Going to church and worshiping the Lord was a highlight he always looked forward to. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Orvil is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pauline Shepherd of the home, stepson Hulon Mosley and wife Sherlan of Wewoka, Granddaughters; Latresa Jolly and Husban Ed of Wewoka; Carla Davis and husband Robert of Wasilla, Alaska; Great Grandchildren; Melissa Sowder and husband Aaron of Cromwell; Brian Jolly of Wewoka; Anthony and wife Jessica Davis of Wasilla, Alaska; and Jessica Marie Davis of Wasilla, Alaska, Brothers Delmar and Jesse Shepherd of Oklahoma City, OK and sister Gladys Young of Moore OK, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends that will always remember and miss him.
Funeral Services are to be held Wednesday July 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mission Home Baptist Church North of Wewoka and burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka, Oklahoma.
