Imo Tipton

Graveside services for Imo Kathryne Tipton are to be held Monday at 2:00pm. Imo will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka. Reverend Jimmy Freeman will be officiating the service Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, Wewoka, Oklahoma.

Imo died June 4, 2010 in Holdenville at the age of 90. She was born April 30, 1920 to William (Bill) and Pearl Western. She was a longtime resident of Wewoka, Oklahoma.

She had been employed at Wewoka Nursing Home for many years before retiring. She was a Christian and Baptist by faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leon M. Tipton, one son Michael, brother O.J. Western, and sister Reba Hammer.

She is survived by one sister, Donivee Banes, Odessa Tx., two sons, Don Tipton, Choctaw, Ok., Joe Tipton, Sasakwa, Ok., and one daughter Judy Gammons, Sasakwa, Ok. Imo had 7 grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Douglas Todd

Douglas M. Todd, 57, longtime Seminole resident, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at his home in Seminole. Doug was born March 6, 1953 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Robert and June (Weil) Todd.

Doug moved to Seminole from Freemont, California 18 years ago. Most of his adult life, he worked in construction and carpentry. He was a heavy equipment operator, where he developed a life long love for bulldozers. He drove trucks for Oklahoma Liquefied Gas and Hays Trucking Company in Seminole.

Doug attended the Congregational Methodist Church in Seminole. He was always willing to help someone who needed something, whether a neighbor or friend or stranger.

The daughters have fond memories of being able to talk to him about anything. He was very knowledgeable and loved watching the nightly news. They especially loved talking politics with him. They remember him as a gentle man and diplomatic. Doug was also an avid Oakland Raiders football fan and had a "sweet tooth".

His wife, Cindi Todd of Seminole, two daughters and sons-in-laws, Leah and Kent Bracken of Ft. Gibson, and Amanda and Will Kuehner of Seminole, survive Doug. He is also survived by three granddaughters; Addyson Bracken, Klaire Bracken and Gracie Kuehner. Two sisters and a brother-in-law; Sue and Tony Hale of Freemont, California and Barbara Todd of Freemont, California, also survived him.

Memorial services are planned for 1 p.m., Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with his longtime friend, Matt Riffle, officiating the services.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

Jerry Todd

Jerry Ronald Todd was born February 12th, 1942 in Elk City, OK and passed away Tuesday August 10th, 2010 from a heart attack at the age of 68.

Jerry was a very hard working, devoted and loyal family man. He loved to joke and shoot the breeze. He has built bridges all over the state for 48 years and was dedicated to his job. Jerry and his wife are 25 plus year residents of Sasakwa.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Cecelia Todd, his parents Jack and Irene Todd of Elk City, his sister Jan McKesson and husband Larry, his brother Jackie Todd and Betty, and children Kerri Taylor, Jerry Todd, and spouse Jonnette Duffield, Michael Todd, Ricky Todd, Erik Todd and step-daughter Lisa Roe.

He had 16 grandchildren Brandi Weese, Nichole Taliaferro, John Taliaferro, April Todd, Melissa Atterberry, Kyle Blackstone, Dennis Todd, Shane Todd, Blazen Todd, Makaelah, Coy, Carter, and Collier Todd, Erin Roe, Stephen Roe and Amy Roe. He also had 17 great grandchildren.

He will be cremated and his Memorial Service will be held at Sasakwa School Auditorium in Sasakwa, Saturday, August 14th at 2:00pm. There will be a pot-luck dinner, after the service, in the cafeteria. For Questions Please call Brea Todd at 405-941-3741 or 941-3846.

Bessie Tucker

Lifelong Maud resident Bessie "Lois" Tucker died April 13, 2010 in Norman, at the age of 85.

She was born on January 1, 1925 in Wolf to Robert Lee Walker and Nellie (Rogers) Walker.

She married Lenord Leroy Tucker in Holdenville, Oklahoma on March 13, 1945.

She was a part of the Teamsters Union and worked as a secretary for Yellow Trucking and Mid Content where she retired.

She was a also a member of the First Baptist Church in Maud.

She is survived by two daughters, Marcella Gerkin of Oklahoma City, and Joyce Bohanon of Wanette.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lenord Leroy Tucker on November 4, 1977, parents, three sisters and one brother.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010 at Cummings Cemetery in Maud.

Bobby Shatto will officiate the services.

Services are under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud.

Mary Tuttle

Mary "Jo" (Vance) Windle Tuttle, age 84 and a former resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at OU Medical Center in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 16th at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa.

Jo was born on June 14, 1926 in Konawa, Oklahoma, to Calvin S. and Mary Lou (Jenks) Vance. She graduated from Konawa High School, and she married Louis George Windle on June 2, 1944 in Konawa. She worked as a bookkeeper for Hefner Oil Company. Jo was a member of the Mayfair Church of Christ. She played the violin.

In 1939, Louis "Louie" Windle came to the farm of Calvin and Mary Vance. (He went to the Army Air Corp in 1941.) After they got married, Mary Jo and Louie also ran a dairy in Konawa after the war.

She is survived by one daughter, Lu Ann Tuttle and husband, David of Edmond, Oklahoma; one sister, Marcille Schwab of Oklahoma City, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Mary Lou Vance; her husband, Louis Windle on June 5, 1980; her second husband, Leon Tuttle in April of 1977; one daughter, Lori Lee Shattuck on June 4, 1997; and two sisters, Faye Ramey and Dixie Rogers.

Lou Tyner

Lou Ann (Montgomery) Tyner, 78 year-old, longtime Seminole resident passed from this life Monday, May 3, 2010 at Seminole Integris Hospital.

She was born December 27, 1931 the third of eight children to Homer Morris Montgomery and Vera Mae (Mason) Montgomery.

Lou Ann graduated from Seminole High School in 1948. She married Robert "Bob" Tyner on February 24, 1961 in Seminole.

Lou Ann worked for Bill Morris Tank Truck Service for several years then she worked as secretary for the Seminole First Baptist Church retiring in 1993 after 35 years of service.

She was always very involved with the church serving the Lord in many different areas. She was also a "Pink Lady" serving on the Seminole Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

Lou Ann is survived by one step-daughter, Debbie Lynn Jackson and her husband Danny of Del City, one brother, Don Montgomery of Seminole, two sisters, Patricia Clark of Bethany, and Vera Rammage and her husband Tommie of Seminole, one sister-in-law, Judy Montgomery of Seminole, one step-grandchild, Damon Jackson of Del City, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and dear friends.

Lou Ann is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Tyner who died in 1999; two brothers, Wilbur Montgomery and Homer Montgomery; two sisters, Mary Jo Arner and Frances Tedford.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2010 at The First Baptist Church in Seminole. Brother Bob Hammons will officiate the service assisted by Matt Pollock. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole.

Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Minetta Votaw

Minetta "Gail" Votaw, age 56 and a resident of Konawa, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Solara Hospital in Shawnee.

A wake services is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 31st at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Konawa, and funeral services are schedule for 1 p.m. on Monday, November 1st also at the Chapel.

Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Johnny Campbell will officiate.

Gail was born on December 9, 2010 in Wewoka to Robert and Minnie Harjo.

She was a member of the Baptist Church, and she enjoyed dancing, walking, and listening to gospel music.

She is survived by her mother, Minnie Harjo of the home, and one brother, Bob R. Harjo of Houston, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Harjo.

Charles Waddell

Charles "Norman" Waddell, 85 year-old, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident passed from this life Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at his home in Seminole. He was born June 21, 1924 in Okemah, Oklahoma to parents Bonny (Williams) Waddell and Elmer Waddell.

Norman graduated from New Lima High School in 1941. He then served in the United States Army during World War II earning the rank of Private First Class; he was also a Ranger in Burma China. He served in the Army from April 1, 1943 until January 17, 1946 earning the Philippine Liberation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Norman started working in the oilfield in 1947 for American Manufacturing Company. He later worked for three years for Sargent Engineering.

On August 14, 1948 Norman married the love of his life, Lola Jean Pace in Odessa, Texas. This union began a storybook life for the couple. Norman started an oil company in 1966 called Waddell Lease Service, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2001. During his busy life Norman went on to attend Seminole Junior College because of his strong commitment to education.

Norman was also proud of the fact that he had lived in many different cities including; Odessa, Texas; Wichita Falls, Texas; Hobbs, New Mexico; Great Bend, Kansas; Norman, Oklahoma; and his favorite of all Seminole, Oklahoma.

Norman will be best remembered for his love of God, family and friends. It was not unusual to drive by his place of business and see the grill fired up and a group of people standing by ready to eat. He always enjoyed having family gatherings and was always glad to serve as the chef. His love for God was so evident through his faithfulness at the Seminole First Baptist Church where he was a longtime member.

Norman had served the Lord in many different capacities at the Church. He had served as a Deacon, as well as many different committees and boards, and of course he was also very dedicated in helping to prepare food for his church family.

As Norman’s family continued to grow in numbers, his love seemed to triple. His grandchildren lovingly called him "Bobba" and he always made sure that they knew they were loved.

Sadly his wife of 55 years, Lola Waddell preceded him in death on November 13, 2003. Norman is also preceded in death by his parents and one great-granddaughter, Jillian Quintero, who died of SIDS on January 23, 2004.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Janet Waddell of Seminole, Oklahoma, Keith and Leanne Waddell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Todd and Brooke Waddell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one daughter, Mariann Waddell of Denton, Texas; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Amie and Jason Quintero, Chris and Terrie Waddell, Kara Waddell, Marci and Trent Talbot, Turner Waddell, Natalie Waddell, Carson Waddell and Conner Galloway; six great-grandchildren, Kallie, Sidney, Luke, Cash, Cole and Callee; special friends, Steve and Linda Davidson of Seminole, Oklahoma; and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Seminole, Oklahoma. Russell Vicars will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole with Military Honors.

The family has requested that donations be made to the Seminole State College Education Foundation, for student scholarships, In memory of Norman Waddell at P.O. Box 351, Seminole, Oklahoma 74818, or to the charity of your choice.

Casket Bearers will be; Larry Waddell, Keith Waddell, Todd Waddell, Chris Waddell, Jason Quintero, Conner Galloway, Bob Swearingen, Beau Swearingen and Steve Davidson.

Honorary Bearers will be; Luke Waddell, Carson Waddell and Turner Waddell.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
