Graveside services for Oakridge Home resident Benjamin Francis Woods are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 29 at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka.
Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka.
Woods dies Monday, April 26, 2010 at Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 63.
He was born in Okmulgee on March 3, 1947 to Amos and Flora Woods.
Woods was known by his Oakridge friends as "Benji."
He grew up in Henryetta and came to the Oakridge Home at the age of 24.
Woods like going on outings with friends, bus rides, picnics, and swimming in the summer.
His favorite activity was to talk to his friend, Santa Claus on the telephone.
Woods had a unique and close friendship with Dr. Glenn Crowson who was his primary physician, and Lisa Brown, the Director of Nursing at the Oakridge Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Woods is survived by his Oakridge Home extended family of clients and staff.
Nova Woody
Funeral services for long time Seminole resident, Nova Helen Woody are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole.
Rev. Russell Vicars will officiate.
Interment will follow at Little Cemetery, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Nova passed away at her home on Friday, January 29, 2010, at the age of 90.
She was born January 17, 1920 in Fox, Arkansas to the late Martha Ann (Kendall) Branscum and John W. Branscum.
Nova has been a Seminole County resident for over 60 years, she moved from Shawnee in 1946.
She married Harvey H. Woody on December 18, 1946 in Chandler.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She also owned Woody’s Quick Lunch, across from Roosevelt School, a shoe store and a beauty shop.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Lee Sheppard, and her husband Harvey Woody.
Nova is survived by two grandchildren Nova Dawn (Sheppard) Bivens of Shreveport, La., and Michelle (Sheppard) Simmons of Tulsa; four great-grandchildren, Lindsey Granados of Cary, N.C., Grant Bivens of Stillwater, Jessie Simmons of Kilgore, Texas and Jamaie Simmons of Kilgore, Texas; and one great-great grandchild Jordan Simmons of Kilgore, Texas.
Honorary casket bearers are John Bivens, Grant Bivens, Ian Granados, Ron Sheppard, Lester Merrill and JD Branscum.
Laurie Wright
Funeral Services for former Wewoka resident, Laurie Joann (Long) Wright are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday July 17, 2010 at Stout-Phillips Chapel in Wewoka.
Interment is to follow at Greenleaf Indian Baptist Church in Okemah.
Laurie Joann, 46, passed away Monday July 12, 2010 at her home in Springfield, Mo.
She was born in Brush, Colorado to Harold "Buster" Dean Long and Kiddie Ruth (Robison) Long.
Laurie loved her children and grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them.
Surviving her are her two daughters, Jericka Leigh (Wright) Simmons and husband Chris of Springfield, Mo., and Jessica Lynn Wright of the home; grandchildren, Jonathan, Kulton, and Melvin, Jr.; brothers and sisters, Jan Wiltkapp and husband Steve of Kansas City, Kan.; Deana Azlin and husband Tony of Wewoka; Kenny Long of Wewoka; Gary Long and wife Tambra of Wewoka; Lilly Montague and husband Mike of Liberty, Mo; Chuck Long and wife Natalie of Wichita, Kan; one aunt Eadith Dunson and husband Louie of Greeley, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Long, Brandon Rhoten, Devin Montague, Jeff Seeley, Chris Simmons, and Marcus Ebhraim.
Sylvia Yeager
Sylvia Viola Yeager was born on November 19, 1921, in Rossville, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 88.
Sylvia, the daughter of Charles Willard and Mary Jane (Lancaster) Roberts, was a resident of the Prague area most of her life.
She married Floyd Arthor Yeager on April 15, 1949, in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
He preceded her in death on November 11, 2003. Sylvia was a member of the Seminole First Assembly of God.
Her parents also preceded Sylvia in death.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Melba Yeager of Oklahoma City, Richard Yeager of Oklahoma City, Steven and Layla Yeager of Prague, Daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy Moore of Prague, Karolyn and Terry Phillips of Guthrie, Joanne and Roger Fleming of Prague, Sister, Beatrice Hanks of Prague, 13 Grandchildren, 12 Great-grandchildren and 2 Great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 10 a.m., at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Pastor Doyle Long officiating.
Interment will follow at Prague Cemetery in Prague.
Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
Loma Yoss
A Memorial Visitation for Loma Louise Nation Yoss, 100 year old, Leonard resident, is scheduled for Friday March 5, 2010, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, in Leonard, Texas.
Interment of her cremains at a date to be announced later will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery, in Seminole, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Yoss was born January 25, 1910, at Wilburton, Oklahoma. Her parents were James Chester and Carrie Maude Anderson Nation. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church, of Leonard, Texas, and a very staunch, dyed in the wool Democrat.
She married William Henry "Bill" Yoss, March 30, 1930, in McAlester, Oklahoma.
She passed away Tuesday March 2, 2010, at the Leonard Manor.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, William J. "Bill" and Martha Yoss, of Leonard, Texas, and Norman E. and Cathy Yoss, of Durant, Oklahoma; her brother, Clarence M. Nation, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, one daughter, one granddaughter, and one great grandson.

Edith Yott
Edith M. Yott, 84, Asher, died on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Mercy Health Center, OKC.
Edith M. Yott was born March 12, 1926 in Asher, to Cleeve and Bertha (Clevenger) Douglas. She married Marvin B. Yott on March 20, 1966 in Gainesville, TX. She worked in food service for many years in OKC before retirement.
She was Preceded in death by her parents, a son: Patrick Humphrey, a daughter: Deborah Babb, sisters: Rita Martin, Veda Douglas, brothers: Dan and Percy Douglas, a granddaughterand and ex-husband: Allen Humphrey.
She is survivored by husband Marvin Yott of Asher, son, Danny Phillips of Las Vegas, NV and three Grandchildren, one great-Grandchildren Jake Wihanan of CA, brothers,
Arlis Yott David Yott, as well as host of family and friends.
No memorial service has been scheduled at this time.
Towanda Young
Former Seminole County resident Towanda Young, age 75, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Colonial Estates Nursing Home, in Shawnee.
She was born Aug. 26, 1934, to Roy and Mary Sibley, in Jester.
She married Glen Young Sept. 6, 1966, in Ada.
She was a secretary for Cornelison Engine Maintenance, until their closing in 1988.
She later worked as a secretary for Young’s Engine as well as owning Forever Young Antiques.
She was a member of Business and Professional Women; Northwood Church of the Nazarene where she taught adult and teenage Sunday School classes; raised foster children; and was a 1952 Seminole High School graduate.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Lou Ann Robinson and husband Ralph, of Oklahoma City, and Jana Morgan and husband Joe, of Seminole; three grandchildren, Kathy Miller, of Kansas, Alisha Morgan, of Prague, and John Morgan, of the home; three sisters, Billie Parks, of Indiana, Deloris Melton, of South Carolina, and Linda Hughes, of Texas; sister-in-law, Ina Sibley, of Mid West City; one great granddaughter; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her constant companion and canine friend, Betty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Naomi Oakes; brother, Jack Sibley; and two nephews, David Parks and Jeff Lewis.
The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
