Jaunita Lucille Southworth

To this union, were born four sons and one daughter, James of Yukon, Oklahoma, Don of Spring, Texas, Bill of Pollick Pines, California, Ray of Yukon, Oklahoma, & Lou Wana Yount of Piedmont, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Becky Southworth of Fort Worth, TX, Rachel Hood of Edmond, OK, Michael Southworth of Littleton, Colorado, Melissa Andaya of Spring, TX, Brooks Southworth of Yukon, Oklahoma, Erin Yount of Waxahachie, TX, & Matt Yount of Enid, Oklahoma. Great-grandchildren Gunnar and Chandler Pierce & Baustyn Hood, and Gracie & Brette Southworth. She was proceeded in death by her husband, her parents, and a sister, Oleta Matlack, of Madill, Oklahoma. She leaves behind two sisters, Edith Journeycake of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, and Helen Roady of Moore, Oklahoma, and a host of family, friends and neighbors who mourn her passing. In the following days, months & years we will remember Mom`s unconditional love, her strong sense of family, her many acts of giving, her ready smile, her mischievous sense of humor and know help was just HER telephone number away in rain or shine, hot or cold, and in YOUR sickness or health. Now, it can be told, and I know Morn wouldn`t mind if I did, she practiced many unpaid vocations throughout her life. Mom was a care-giver, first and foremost. She dispensed Aspirin, Vicks Rub. Pepto-Bismol & other over-the-counter cures with a glass of water and a ton of love. I could always tell when Mom had been by my home to check on Brooks, her grandson, when he was not feeling well. I would see Children`s Bayer Aspirin &, when he got older, Anvil tablets in the corner of a baggy, and a Tupperware container in the sink with a trace of macaroni and cheese. She was a beautician/barber who came equipped with a set of razors, combs, and sizzors. If one requested (or if Mom thought one needed) a quick shampoo and set, to boot, she would do that, too. The only thing she wouldn`t provide to her patrons was the usual amount of community gossip. She owned and operated her own alteration/upholstery/seamstress business. If one wanted a curtain to fit a kitchen window, arm covers for a chair, a pair of pants shortened, a shirt size increased, or a dress for the ball, she was there. After trying to mend something with `Stitch Witchery`, the sewing `glue`, I would ask her if I could `barrow` her sewing machine. I think she and I both knew it was a lost cause when the presser foot on the machine veered off the fabric for the million-th time. That`s when she could take it no longer and would do the job for me. And she did laundry (ours), too. There were times when I would come home from work and there would be sacks of washed & folded laundry placed in white trash bags just inside the front door_ When I would call to thank her, her response would always be, `Oh, I enjoy doing that. 1 didn`t have anything to do, so I thought I would come over and get some clothes and wash them.` Her chauffeur business was not only city-wide, but included the surrounding metro area as well. She took Brooks to school & picked him up, off and on, from the time he was in kindergarten until the present. She drove to malls, doctors offices, hospitals & up and down the streets of Yukon looking for our stray dogs. And I can honestly say, she never reminded anyone she`d done so. Of course, we, her family, like others who love someone so much, are selfish and weren`t ready to share her with God when it came His turn, and He called her home. But, in retrospect, I think God needs Morn more than we do. Perhaps to mend an angel`s wing, wash & shine a halo or set a golden curl. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, Nov. 8, at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment at Madil City Cemetery, Madil, OK at 3:00 P.M.
