Pansy Smith, 92
A service will be at 2 p.m. Monday for Pansy Smith, 92, Clarksville, Texas, who died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, in Paris, Texas. Dr. Stephen Marx will officiate.
The daughter of Ed and Beulah (Haskins) Clement, she was born Sunday, April 23, 1916, in Paris, Texas.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Bagwell Church of Christ in Bagwell, Texas. She loved gardening, reading her Bible and telling stories about her past to her children.
She married Amos A. Smith on Sept. 23, 1937, in Caddo.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brothers Jack, Bill and Herman Clement and sisters Maxine Gaines and Virginia Reese.
Survivors include daughters Nancy Marx and husband Dr. Stephen, Clarksville; son Edward Mack Smith Sr. and wife Birdie of Powderly, Texas; grandchildren Stephen Sawyer Marx, Clarksville, Samantha Batchelor and husband Wade, DeKalb, Texas, Brian Perry and wife Brenda, Burkeson, Texas, Donna Smith and husband Chris, Houston, Texas, Edward Mack Smith Jr. and Lisa Lewis, both of Powderly, Texas.; great-grandchildren Ashley Marx, Washington D.C., Lainey Batchelor, DeKalb, Justin Perry and Jensen Perry, both of Burleson, Cameron Smith, Houston, Erica Tucker and Ethan Smith, both of Bogata, Texas, and P.J. Decker, Houston; brother Ted Clement and wife Carol, Duncanville, Texas, and sisters Margie Woods and husband Clyde, Gerad, Kansas, and Christine Kennedy, Bonham, Texas.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Armstrong.

Raymond ‘Ray’ Johnson, 83
Beloved father, Raymond “Ray” Johnson, 83, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, after his battle with cancer.
Ray was born May 27, 1925, in the farm area of Yuba in Bryan County.
Burial was in the Oakmont Cemetery in Lafayette, Calif.
Richard Lee Turnbull, 56
Richard Lee Turnbull, 56, of Denison, Texas, passed away Thursday evening Feb. 12, 2009, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born Nov. 3, 1952, in Kemp, to the late Donald “Blackie” and Lucy Elrod Turnbull. He was educated in Denison schools, and was a 1970 Denison High School graduate. He was a Marine veteran.
He was of the Church of Christ faith and married Kathy Dizmond on Dec. 19, 1995, in Durant.
Richard was a contractor with RPS, now Fed-Ex, for many years before his retirement. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Denison, Texas, and a past member of the former Pottsboro Elks Lodge. He was also an avid bowler.
Richard is survived by his wife of the home, Denison, Texas; daughters Shantell Kyle and husband Jason, Bells, Texas, and Rici Turnbull, Plano, Texas; the daughter’s mothers Sharon Baugus, Sherman, Texas, and Melody Turnbull, Wylie, Texas; grandchildren Garrett, Mandie, Gavin and Jacie Kyle; brothers Jim and Sammy Turnbull, both of Denison, Texas, and Bill Turnbull, Goodyear, Ariz.; sister Donnett Smith and husband Bill, Denison, Texas, and numerous nieces.
Funeral services for Richard Turnbull will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Kemp Baptist Church in Kemp with Pastor Roger Speers officiating. Burial will follow in the Kemp Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Weger, Tommy Sikes, Robert Driggs, Michael McGehee, Jim Aleman and James Cox.
Family hours will be today from 2-4 p.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert.
Nema Wessinger, 100
A service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery Chapel for Nema Wessinger, 100, Durant, who died Monday, April 10, 2006, at Oak Ridge Manor Nursing Center. Rev. Carroll Hooper will officiate.
She was born Thursday, Aug. 31, 1905, in Indian Territory, Oklahoma, to John R. and Naney Alberson Williams. She married Bryan Wessinger in May 1931 in Pauls Valley. She earned her bachelor's in teaching at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and taught school for many years. She was a Pink Lady volunteer at Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1967 and son Jimmy in 1953.
She is survived by son Stanley Wessinger and friend Tommy Sue, Sherman, Texas, and grandsons Randy Wessinger and wife Debbie, Euless, Texas, and Ray Wessinger, Dallas, Texas.
Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Thelma E. Edwards, 85
Thelma E. Edwards, 85, passed away Friday, April 7, 2006, in Apple Valley, Calif. She was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Oklahoma.
Thelma worked as a homemaker and attended the LDS Church.
She is survived by her daughters Janell Johnson of Arlington, Texas, Anna Adams, Yuma, and Phyllis Lewis, Los Angeles, Calif.; brother Frank Pevehouse, Blue; sisters Lilly Farrell, Casa Grande, Ariz., and Annie Mize, Durant; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nathan Edwards; son Donald Edwards; parents Dave and Nora Pevehouse; brother Charlie Pevehouse; and sisters Tiny Pevehouse, Daisy Smith and Jewell Miller.
Funeral services were at Yuma Mortuary at 10:30 a.m. today. Final resting place will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Nathan James and Scott Johnson, Jim and Jamy Hansen and Kathleen Daniel.
Opal Oleta Nix, 95
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery in Denison, Texas, for Opal Oleta Nix, 95, Colbert, who died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. The Rev. Larry Myers will officiate.
Nix was born Aug. 8, 1913, in Van Alstyne, Texas. She was employed with Pillsbury. Survivors include nephew Cecil Baker, Colbert, and niece Pat Reed, Platter.
Family hour is from 6-7 p.m. today at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison.
Eric Weemes, 39
Eric Weemes, 39, of Silo, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, in Sherman, Texas. The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 13, from 1-3 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel.
Eric was born Jan. 24, 1970, in Okinawa, Japan, to Milton and Yoko (Kise) Weemes. He moved with his family to Silo in 1978 from Marietta, Georgia, and he attended and graduated from Silo Public Schools. Eric worked for Tyson Foods in Sherman and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. Eric will be greatly missed by all who knew and dearly loved him.
Eric was preceded in death by his father and infant son, Ian Maslin Weemes.
Eric is survived by his mother, Yoko Weemes of Silo; brother, Frank Weemes and wife Kaori of Delaware; sisters, Sue Weemes of Mead and Mary Weemes Gorley of McKinney, Tx; nieces and nephews, Misty Jordan, Cheyenne Weemes, Cherokee King, Sequoyah King, Erica Weemes, Jessica Weemes, Christian Rogers, Nicholas Rogers, Jacob Rogers, Kade King, Desiree King and Shelby King; and other relatives and a host of dear and loved friends.
