William Ross Meadows
William Ross Meadows was born the second son of Andrew Jackson Meadows and Stella Mae Evans Meadows, in Childress County, Texas, July 17, 1928. He departed this world June 10, 2013, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his older brother A.J. Meadows, Jr. He is survived by his younger brothers, Louis C. Meadows and Tommie C. Clements.
Ross married Loretta Janet Trammell in Childress, Texas, on July 10, 1949. She preceded him in death. Their children survive him. They are Velinda Meadows Fleming and husband, Clarence Fleming, Fort Walton Beach, FL; Robert Meadows and wife, Chevelle Hargar Meadows, Kenefic, OK; and Tina Meadows Regas and husband, John Regas, Norwalk, CA. Also surviving him are grandchildren, Adam Baker, Susie Meadows, Kristina and Kyra Regas, and four great grandchildren.
Ross married Barbara Treadway Hall in Durant, Ok, in September, 1997 and she survives him in their home in Wister, OK. He is also survived by several stepchildren and grandchildren from this marriage. A memorial service will be in the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home and interment will be in the Mead Cemetery, Mead, OK, on July 5, 2013, 2:00 P.M.

Vera Mae Higginbottom
Vera Mae Higginbottom of Durant, Oklahoma passed away Friday June 29, 2013, at the age of 94. She was born in Mounds, Oklahoma February 9, 1919, to Richard and Chessie Mae Wall. She married Iverson T. “Higg” Higginbottom, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and resided in Oklahoma City, where they established OK Mattress & Furniture, creating beautiful custom upholstery and mattresses for 40 years. She later retired from Wal-Mart at age 84. She moved to Durant in 2004, where she resided until passing. She was of the Episcopal faith.
Vera was very creative, had excellent sewing skills making something from nothing, wrote several poems and jingles, and worked crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp. She and Iverson made quite a couple on the dance floor when younger, and taught the kids to western swing dance. Her love of dancing later became popular with the grandkids, teaching them the “granny shuffle”.
Preceded in death by her husband, Iverson and step son David Higginbottom, she is survived by daughters, Carol Landers and family of Friendswood, TX , Barbara Buchanan and family of Durant, OK, Linda White and family of Oklahoma City, OK. Her sons; Doyle, Jerry, Curtis, Steve, and Roger Higginbottom, and their families, of Oklahoma City, numerous loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday July 5, at 3:00 p.m. at Little Chapel of Roses, Resthaven Cemetery, Oklahoma City, followed by a Celebration of Life reception where some “granny shuffling” will be going on. Pall bears will be Mark Buchanan, Jeffery White, Shawn White, Chase White, Mikey White, Jeremy Fullerton, Michael Higginbottom, and honorary pall bears Ethan Grider, Weston Fullerton and Andrew White.
A special thank you to the staff of Oakridge Nursing Home for the loving care shown to our mother and grandma, and tender support to the family.
Eunice Polson
Eunice Polson a resident of Durant passed from this life on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the age of 98 years 6 months and 28 days. She was born in Clarksville, Texas to Emery and Addie (McAlester) Welborn on Tuesday, December 1, 1914. Eunice Welborn married Paul Dee Polson in Durant, Oklahoma in 1935.
Eunice was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. She was the Cafeteria Manager at the Bryan Memorial Hospital for many years. Eunice enjoyed the pleasure of fishing whenever she could.
Mrs. Polson is survived by her son, Jerry Polson and wife Dana of Durant, Oklahoma; daughters, Charlene Harris and husband Eddie of Durant, Oklahoma and Darla Plafcan of Durant, Oklahoma; sister, Margaret Brimage of Durant, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Polson was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Addie Welborn; husband, Paul Dee Polson; grandson, Brian Polson; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Family Hour was held at 6-7:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Holmes - Coffey - Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Graveside Service were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Highland Cemetery in Durant with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating.

Myra Gene Ritchie
Myra Gene Ritchie, 76, of Lakeland, Florida passed away Wednesday morning June 26, 2013 at her daughters home in Lakeland. She was born April 4, 1937 in Sylvester, Georgia to George and Floreen Fortnor Strenth.
She attended Avon Park, Florida schools and married Jerry Ritchie April 13, 1954 in Avon Park. She was a Colbert resident for over 30 years and was a TMC Volunteer for over 5 years. She also was a volunteer at the Colbert Senior Citizens Center and helped at the voting polls.
She was also one of the red hat ladies and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Colbert. A longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Colbert where she was very active and a Sunday school teacher, also singing in the choir. She returned to Florida 2 years ago.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband and a Daughter Sandy Perkins.
Surviving is her Daughter Debbie Jenkins of Lakeland, Florida and Grandson David Chaffin of Denison, Texas.
A Funeral Service for Myra Gene Ritchie will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday morning July 2, 2013 at Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert with Dr. Roddy Arnold officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert. Family night will be Monday evening from 6-7 at the funeral home.
