Funeral services for Carl B. Roblyer of Purcell formerly of El Reno will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 29, 2012 in the First Christian Church.
Rev. Ronnie Fields, Pastor will officiate.
Graveside committal services with Military Honors will be held at 3:30 P.M. Saturday in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
Rev. Bob Keck of Spring, OK. will officiate.
Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Donald “Don” Harold Loftis

Donald “Don” Harold Loftis, age 81, an Atoka, OK resident, was born on Wednesday, April 08, 1931, to Don and Erron Viola (Allen) Loftis, at Oklahoma City, OK.
Don passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Durant, OK.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19th, 2012 at Wards Chapel Baptist Church.
Rev. Daniel Henson will be officiating.
Interment will be at Wards Chapel Cemetery, Atoka, Oklahoma.
Family night will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.
Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Home in Atoka, Ok.

James Otto Potts

James Otto Potts was born on Tuesday, August 15, 1927, in Albany, Oklahoma to Theodore Roosevelt and Anna Juanita Dobson Potts and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 in Denison, Texas at the age of 85.

Tuffy, as he was known, graduated from Albany High School in 1944. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1945-1947. He married Evelyn Leona Gower on May 31, 1948 in Bennington, OK, and they were blessed with five children. Before retirement, he was a meat salesman and later worked for M.C. Easter and L.P. Frank as a propane salesman and delivery driver. Tuffy was a member of Albany Baptist Church and Albany Masonic Lodge #159. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years, fishing, deer hunting, camping, playing dominoes, vegetable gardening, mowing the yard, storytelling, and just visiting with people. He always enjoyed learning and sharing history, especially Oklahoma history.

Tuffy was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Juanita Potts; sisters Wilma “Tot” Williams, Oleta Richardson, and Ann Staton; brothers Ted Louie Potts, Mickey “Jinky” Potts, Jerry Potts, Joe Potts, and Frankie Potts; infant son Anthony Potts, and son-in-law Ronnie Lawson.

Tuffy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Evelyn, of the home; children James M. Potts and wife Marilyn of Hinton, OK, Beverly Lawson of Bokchito, OK, Brenda Neyman and husband Bill of Durant, OK, and Susie Wilson and husband Myron of Bokchito, OK; grandchildren Victoria Rose Mathews and husband Greg of Comer, GA, John Potts and wife Morgen of Moore, OK, Thad Potts of Longdale, OK, Stewart Hoffman and wife Sarah of Durant, OK, and Clint Hoffman and girlfriend Courtney Hughes of New Smyrna, FL; great grandchildren Kane and Kira Hoffman of Durant, OK; brothers Gene Potts of Albany, OK and Larry Potts and wife Linda of Durant, OK; sister Mary Hurst and husband Luther of Emory, TX; sister-in law Betty Potts of Durant, OK; brother-in-law Joe Staton of Yuba, OK, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2012, at Albany Baptist Church. Bro. Jackie Robinson will officiate. Interment will follow in Bokchito Cemetery with Masonic and Military Rites. Pallbearers will be John Potts, Thad Potts, Stewart Hoffman, Clint Hoffman, David Potts, and Danny Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Myron Wilson and Bill Neyman. The family will receive friends at Brown’s Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Albany Baptist Church Roof Fund, P.O. Box 97, Albany, OK, 74721.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service Durant, Oklahoma.

Joy Lee (Burrows) Smith

Joy Lee (Burrows) Smith, age 63, a Tushka, OK resident. She was born on Wednesday, September 14, 1949, to Ted and Lida Mae (Hamilton) Burrows, at Antlers, OK. Joy passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Tushka, OK.

She attended Tushka schools and studied computers at Kiamichi Vo Tech. Joy retired after 27 years service with the Tushka School system. She married Wendel Lee Smith on May 14, 1966 at Atoka. Joy attended Victory Life Church, and loved gardening, sewing, yard work and most of all her grandchildren and great grand children.

Survived by: Husband Wendel Smith of the home. Daughters: Deanna Smith Conn of Tushka, OK., Becky Smith Spellmann and husband Len of Durant, OK. Grandchildren: Brandon Conn and wife Julie of Caddo, OK, Codi Conn and wife Icy of Caddo, OK., Kacey Conn of Tushka, OK., Jessica McGinnis of Durant, OK., Benjamin McGinnis of Durant, OK.

Brett Spellmann of Durant, OK., Noah McGinnis of Durant, OK. Great-grandchildren: Kylie Conn and Presley Conn.
And another one due to arrive in April. Sisters: Joline Phillips and husband Sammy of Saginaw, TX., Dolly Williams and husband James of Atoka, OK., Judy Harris and husband Joe of Ft. Worth, TX. Father-in-law: Leo Smith of Tushka, OK.

Sister-in-law: Linda Kelly and husband Lynn of Tushka, OK., along with numerous nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by: Parents - Ted and Lida Mae (Hamilton) Burrows. Brothers: Teddy Vinson Burrows

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18th, 2012 at Brown’s Funeral Chapel, Atoka, Oklahoma with Doc. James Crowson officiating. Interment will be at Tushka Cemetery, Tushka, Oklahoma.

Family night was Monday Sept. 17th from 6 to 8 p.m.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Home in Atoka, Ok.

VaLondia Louise (Hines) Hawkins

VaLondia Louise (Hines) Hawkins passed from this life and went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the age of 89 years. She was born in Madill, OK August 7, 1923 to James Moses (Jim) and Chessie Bell (Bradberry) Hines. VaLondia grew up in Madill, OK and attended the Madill public schools, she was a drum majorette with the school band and a Homecoming Queen attendant. She attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK with a Bachelor of Science degree. VaLondia was named Sweetheart of Phi Sig Fraternity in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life W.O. (Dub) Hawkins on Saturday, October 28, 1944 in Madill, OK and were married for 67 wonderful years. They were both accomplished roller skaters and loved to dance. They were members of formal dance clubs in OKC and square danced with the Elks Lodge Squares and Texoma Squares in Durant, OK. VaLondia and Dub were avid OU football fans. They attended all home games and the OU/Texas games for more than 60 years enjoying tailgating with her family. She was very talented and had a flair for crafting and decorating. VaLondia worked at numerous jobs/careers throughout her life. She worked for a construction company in Madill, OK, Douglas Aircraft in Midwest City, OK and was a manager of a women’s apparel shop in Hayward, California during World War II. VaLondia also worked in Mayor, Governor, and Senate campaigns in the 1950’s and 1960’s. She was a secretary for a lumber company and census taker in the Capital Hill area in OKC, OK. VaLondia also worked in the Oklahoma State Senate, Oklahoma Teachers Retirement, Oklahoma Health Department Charities and Corrections from 1969 thru 1974, at the State Capitol in Okla. City and the Bryan County Okla. Department of Health WIC program in Durant, OK. from 1974 until she retired in 1989.

VaLondia was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, homeroom mother, assistant Brownie leader and volunteered for many school and civic organizations. She was baptized at the age of 12 at the Madill First Baptist Church and was also a member at the Rancho Village Baptist Church in Okla. City and the First Baptist Church in Durant, OK. VaLondia and Dub raised their family and lived in Oklahoma City for 25 years before moving to Durant in 1974. VaLondia is survived by her husband, W.O. “Dub” Hawkins of Durant, OK; daughters, Teresa Chill and husband Bruce, Denise Clary and husband Steve all of Okla. City, and Lisa Sherwood and husband Daniel of Durant, OK; grandchildren, Lacie Hill and husband Brian of Edmond, OK., Jeffrey Chill and wife Karlee, Brantan Chill and wife Lauren, Ryan Clary and Crystal Clary of OKC; Terran Sherwood and Chelsea Sherwood of Durant, OK; great-grandchildren, Channing, Maddox and Walker Hill of Edmond, OK, Griffin Chill and Avery Chill of OKC,.
VaLondia was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Chessie Hines; brothers, Everett, Lavin, J.D. and Kenneth Hines; sisters, Sally Hines, Lucille Leach and VanNoy Gary; niece, Sheralyn Hines; nephews, Mike and Jim Leach; great-grandson, Logan Hawkins Chill .

Family Hour will be 7-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 21, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. James Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Woodbury Forest in Madill, Okla. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Ryan Clary, Jeffrey Chill, Brantan Chill, Terran Sherwood, nephews Joe Leland Gary, John Leach and Phil Hines.

Special thank you to the Bobby Wells family and Sunshine Hospice for taking care of our beloved wife and mother.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant, Oklahoma.

Barbara Ann Smith

Barbara Ann Smith, wife of the Reverend Dave Smith and mother of David, Robert and William, went to be with her Lord on September 14, 2012 at the age of 74. She was a wonderful friend and homemaker, and all who knew her, including the cats, were thankful for the grace and tenderness she extended to them.

Serving her church as an elder, teacher, choir and bell choir member, she sewed, made prayer shawls, visited the sick and fed the hungry. Her smile and friendliness in the Lord were a blessing even to those who attended to her in her last days in the hospital and hospice, and to them she was truly grateful for their care.

Happily proud of her three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, she was enjoying the news of twin great-grandchildren soon to come.

She and her husband Dave met in New Orleans where she was born, December 3, 1937 to Duncan Hyder and Lillian McClean Selph. She received the Bachelor of Medical Technology degree from Tulane University, and was the loving companion to Dave for 53 years of marriage, including many travels and separations during Dave’s careers first in the U.S. Army and then in the ordained ministry, serving churches in Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas.

Services will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church, Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 3:00 PM with the Rev. Scott Mackey officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at Ft. Sill Cemetery in Oklahoma, September 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM.

Gladys Reyes

Gladys Reyes of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the age of 91 years and 2 days. She was born in Durant, Oklahoma on Friday, September 16, 1921 to Theo and Virdis V. (Williams) Moore. Gladys married Emilio D. Reyes in Grants, New Mexico on Thursday, June 20, 1963.

Gladys supported the war effort during WWII as a “rivet girl” working on B-52 bombers. Gladys had Baptist beliefs. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking out with family and friends. But she will be most remembered for her kindness and love that she showed family and friends.

Mrs. Reyes is survived by her daughters, Yulondia Russell and Harvey of East Lynn, West Virginia and Lisa Elaine Menchaca and William Lyday of Durant, Oklahoma; son, Jimmy Oran Emons and Barbara of Durant, Oklahoma; sister, Sue Boyd of Oak Grove, Missouri; grandchildren, Gregory Wayne Russell and Karen of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert Dwayne Russell and Angel of Miamisburg, Ohio, Harold Ray Menchaca II and Linda Cannon of Durant, Oklahoma, Butch Andrew Menchaca and Kaci of Durant, Oklahoma, Samantha Ann Menchaca and Brian Cobb of Durant, Oklahoma, Joe Emons of Houston, Texas, Shelena Thompson of Durant, Oklahoma, Melissa Carol Martin of Durant, Oklahoma, Ronnie Oran Martin and Krystal of Durant, Oklahoma, Robert Martin and Diana of Sherman, Texas; great-grandchildren, Logan Wayne Russell of Cincinnati, Ohio and Tyler James Russell of Barbourville, Kentucky; Riley Alexander Cobb and Lillian Elizabeth Menchaca, Brianna N. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Durant, Oklahoma. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Russell, Dwayne Russell, Harold Ray Menchaca II, Butch Andrew Menchaca, Andrew Andy) Ray Anderson and Josh Hall. Honorary pallbearer will be Brian Cobb and Skyler Perkins.
