Archie Turner
MIAMI, Okla. - Archie Harold Turner, 80, Miami, died at 12:40 p.m. Friday, March 7, 1997, at Baptist Regional Health Center after a short illness.
Mr. Turner was born July 12, 1916, at Boatman.
He have lived in Miami since 1957.
He was employed by Miami Waste Paper until he retired in 1979.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
He married Mary Harris on June 5, 1937, at Pryor. She survives.
Surviving are two sons, Jimmie Turner, Commerce, and John Turner, Miami; three daughters, Jean Powers, Joan Burtrum and Lana Foote, all of Miami; a brother, Howard Turner, Salina; two sisters, Roxie Charles, Vinita, and Violet Sharp, Hart, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Arrangements are pending with Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
Eleanor Darrow
GROVE, Okla. - Eleanor E. Darrow, 75, Grove, died at 10:23 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 1997, at Grove General Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Darrow was born April 24, 1921, in Barton County, Mo.
She attended schools in Barton County and was graduated from Mindenmines (Mo.) High School in 1939.
She was employed in retail sales for Golden Rule stores for many years.
She moved to Grove three years ago.
She was a member of Countryside Christian Church while she lived in Pittsburg, Kan., and was a member of First Christian Church, Grove.
She married Robert L. Darrow on June 9, 1940, at Pittsburg. He survives.
Other survivors include two brothers, Elbert Schneider, Redding, Calif., and Melvin Schneider, state of California; and three sisters, Vada Jackson, Grove, Bonnie Lou Shipman, Pittsburg, and Jean Morrison, Girard.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Countryside Christian Church.
The Rev. Marvin Tunnell will officiate.
Burial will be in Blackjack Cemetery, southeast of Pittsburg.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
Friends may call at the mortuary after 2 p.m. today.
Minnie Ellison
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Graveside services for Minnie Erma Ellison, 84, Fairland, who died Wednesday, March 5, 1997, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wyandotte Cemetery.
The Rev. Alan McIntyre will officiate.
Homer Karnes
QUAPAW, Okla. - Homer Ray "Johnny" Karnes, 76, Quapaw, died at 2:25 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a long illness.
Mr. Karnes was born Feb. 2, 1921, in the state of Oklahoma.
He had lived in the Quapaw area most of his life.
He worked as a farmer.
Survivors include two brothers, Rex Karnes, Quapaw, and Clay Paul Karnes, Picher; and two sisters, Margie Bradbury, Winfield, Kan., and Myrl Qualls, Springdale, Ark.
The body will be donated for medical research in Oklahoma City.
Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
Betty Murphy
MIAMI, Okla. - Services for Betty Nell Murphy, 70, Miami route 1, who died Friday, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
The Rev. H.R. Gabriel and the Rev. Bob Harrison will officiate.
Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Miami.
Pallbearers will be Mike Norman, Kenneth Norris, Dick Wyatt, Jimmie Wyatt Jr., Jack Wyatt Jr. and Curtis Wyatt.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Donald Wildgen
MIAMI, Okla. - Donald B. Wildgen, 83, 710 13th Ave. N.W., Miami, died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital, Blue Springs, Mo., after a long illness.
Mr. Wildgen was born Sept. 3, 1913, at Joplin.
He moved to Commerce at age 12.
He was graduated in 1931 from Commerce High School.
He moved to Miami in 1978 after he retired from Boeing Aircraft Co., Wichita, Kan.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He was a life member of the Moore-McCoy post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Miami, and the Disabled American Veterans.
He married Bonnie Mildred Wildgen in May 1966.
She died Dec. 11, 1982.
Surviving are a stepson, Earl D. Dunham Sr., Blue Springs; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The body has been cremated.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
The Rev. Dale Rogers will officiate.
Kathryn Chenoweth
MIAMI, Okla. - Kathryn Blanche Chenoweth, 85, Edmond, formerly of Miami, died Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City after an illness.
Mrs. Chenoweth was born Oct. 5, 1911, at Chelsea.
She moved from Miami to Denver, Colo.
She moved to Edmond in July 1996.
She was employed several years as a service representative for Southwestern Bell at Stillwater.
She was a charter member of Bethany Christian Church, Miami.
She was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Miami.
Her husband, William Smith Chenoweth, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Davis, Edmond; three sisters, Joe Alta Cooper, Canton, Mo., Margaret Branson, Oklahoma City, and Martha Duncan, Sun City West, Ariz.; one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Christian Church.
Dr. Daryl Bates will officiate.
Burial will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, east of Miami, under direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
Pallbearers will be Roy Sanders, Lawrence Sharp, Claude Earl Landers, Orville Woods, Bob McDowell and Jim Ginn.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
