Robert Forquer
GROVE, Okla. - Robert V. Forquer, 78, Grove, died at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Fayetteville, Ark., after a long illness.
Mr. Forquer was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Yates Center, Kan.
He worked for the Missouri-Pacific Railroad for more than 30 years before retiring in 1978.
In 1984, he moved to Grove.
He was a member of Sunflower Union.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He married Mardell Vermillion on June 14, 1960, in Yates Center. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Anthony Forquer, Grove, Robert Vermillion, Kincaid, Kan., and Billie Lynn Morrison, Sparks, Nev.; two daughters, Marbie Forquer, Grove, and Edna Silvey, Oak Harbor, Wash.; a sister, Katherine Dixon, Yates Center; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
The Rev. Bob Barker will officiate.
Private burial will be held later.
Alva Petty
AFTON, Okla. - Alva Claude Petty, 89, New Iberia, La., a native of Afton, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997, at Harrison Hospital, Bremerton, Wash., after a long illness.
Mr. Petty was born Feb. 23, 1907, at Zena.
He worked for a bridge building crew around Oklahoma after graduating from high school.
Beginning in the early 1930s, he worked in oil fields around the world while employed by Loffland Brothers Drilling Contractor, Tulsa.
His positions included motor man, driller and maintenance supervisor.
He retired in 1972, after 38 years.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, New Iberia. He was a member of the Wistarly Chapter No. 61, Order of the Eastern Star A.F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite No. 32.
He married Elizabeth Marie Rundle on July 8, 1932.
She died in 1988.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Evelyn Biesemeyer, Palmer, Alaska; a son, Willis L. Petty, Bremerton, Wash.; a brother, Arley F. Petty, Miami; and a sister, Ruby Grunden, Afton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Jim Thomas Funeral Home, Afton, with the Rev. Janelle Brammer officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Afton.
The family will receive friends from noon Monday until the hour of the service.
Bill Baldridge
MIAMI, Okla. - Bill J. Baldridge, 70, 1821 D St. N.W., died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mr. Baldridge was born April 26, 1926, at Miami, where he was a lifetime resident.
He worked 40 years for B.F. Goodrich, Miami, and retired in 1985.
He was a member of Miami Church of Christ.
He married Faye Billner on Dec. 22, 1946, at Columbus, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include a brother, Bob Baldridge, Claremore; and three sisters, Fredia Shipman, Tulsa, Lenora Roberts, Edmonds, Wash., and Gloria Higgins, state of Florida.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
John Ballard and Bobby Key, ministers, will officiate.
Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Miami.
Hubert East
MIAMI, Okla. - Hubert Clifford East, 73, 1027 B St. N.W., died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at his home after an illness.
Mr. East was born March 7, 1923, in Ottawa County, near Seneca, Mo.
He lived in the Ottawa County area most of his life.
He owned and operated Merchant Music Co. in Miami for 37 years.
He also worked for the Oklahoma Highway Department and retired after 37 years.
He was a member of Northwest Baptist Church and the Elks Lodge, both of Miami, the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Welch, and the American Legion at Afton. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He married Elizabeth Louise Chester on Feb. 14, 1948, at Seneca.
She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Steven East, Wyandotte; three daughters, Carol Browning and Pam East, both of Wyandotte, and Ann Strickland, Anderson, Ind.; two sisters, Nedra Crowder, Wyandotte, and Moeth Benson, Dallas, Texas; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
The Rev. Loren Messenger, the Rev. Dale Rogers and Lee Matthews will officiate.
Burial will be in Seneca (Mo.) Cemetery.
Military graveside services will be conducted.
Pallbearers will be Charles Overton, William Rogers, Robert Slaton, Kenneth Chester, Vernon Rinehart and Jerry Chester.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Oeta Evilsizer
MIAMI, Okla. - Oeta Marie Evilsizer, 89, Grove, formerly of Miami, died at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at a Grove nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Evilsizer was born May 21, 1907, near Atlas, Mo.
She was a longtime Miami resident who was graduated in 1928 from Miami High School.
She was a former owner of Nu-Way Laundry, Joplin, Mo.
She retired and moved in 1975 to Miami.
She had lived about a year at Grove.
She married Wesley Evilsizer in 1933.
He died in 1982.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Anderson, Miami, and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at GAR Cemetery, Miami.
Leon Weece, minister, will officiate.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
Richard Bell
COMMERCE, Okla. - Richard L. Bell, 70, 217 N. Cherry St., died at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 1997, at Freeman Hospital East, Joplin, Mo., after a sudden illness.
Mr. Bell was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Commerce and was a lifetime area resident.
He was a retired furniture craftsman.
He was a Methodist and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
There are no immediate survivors.
Arrangements are pending with Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
Donald Linn
AFTON, Okla. - Donald Eugene Linn, 64, Afton, died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Muskogee, after a short illness.
Mr. Linn was born Feb. 15, 1933, at Chelsea. He was a truck driver.
There are no immediate survivors.
Services will be at 7 p.m. today at the First Assembly of God Church, Commerce.
The Rev. Kenneth Linn will officiate.
Burial will be in Fort Gibson (Okla.) National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today.
