WYANDOTTE, Okla. - Services for George E. Mills, 67, rural Wyandotte, who died Thursday, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eastview Church of Christ, east of Miami.
Phil Cox and Doug Williams will officiate.
Burial will be in Glen Abbey Cemetery, Miami.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Adcock Funeral Home, Fairland.
Contributions may be made to Eastview Church of Christ building fund.
Matty Richmond
GROVE, Okla. - Services for Mackie "Matty" Whitlock Richmond, 86, Grove, who died Thursday, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Church of God, Grove.
The Rev. Sidney Freeman will officiate.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. today at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, Mo.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hinderliter-Woodard Funeral Service, Grove.
Mable Skaggs
PICHER, Okla. - Mable N. Thomas Skaggs, 97, 402 N. Netta St., died at 8:10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after a long illness.
Mr. Skaggs was born May 27, 1899, at Pleasant Ridge, Mo.
She moved from Pleasant Ridge to the Picher area in 1917.
She was an interior decorator and had worked at the Bristow Hotel in Picher.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Picher.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Thomas; her second husband, Efton Skaggs, and two sons.
Survivors include three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
Mary Brock
PICHER, Okla. - Mary Elizabeth Quintlan Brock, 58, 101 E. DeVilliers Circle, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at Baptist Regional Medical Center, Miami, after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Brock was born Nov. 11, 1938, in the state of Mississippi.
She had lived 20 years in Picher, where she moved from Baxter Springs, Kan.
She was a clerk at Picher Housing Authority for 13 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ann Mitchell, Cedar Point, Kan., and Cara Louise Brock, Picher; four sons, Brian Brock, Picher, Dale Richard Brock and James Matthew Brock, both of Miami, and Roger William Brock, Joplin, Mo.; a brother, John Quinland, Stockton, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Arrangements are pending with Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
Joseph Braune
MIAMI, Okla. - Joseph G. Braune, 81, 53201 E. 110 Road, died at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after a long illness.
Mr. Braune was born Aug. 13, 1915, at El Paso, Texas.
He attended elementary school through law school in Norman.
He was graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1942.
He served in the Army in the Phillipines during World War II and later in Japan, where he worked on the war crimes commission for Gen. Douglas McArthur.
He moved to Miami in 1946 and established a law practice.
He served as a municipal judge of Miami and was a district judge of Ottawa and Delaware counties for five years.
He was an associate district judge of Ottawa County for five years.
He retired in 1991.
He was active in organizing a rural water district west of Miami.
He served on the rural water district board for 20 years.
He helped in organizing the Sheltered Workshop and Friendship House, both of Miami.
He was chairman of the Ottawa County Red Cross for five years.
He commanded the Miami National Guard Unit for 10 years.
He served as president of the Miami Noon Lions' Club in 1966.
He was a member of Moore-McCoy Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2688 and Floyd L. Perry American Legion Post No. 147.
He was past master of the Miami Masonic Lodge No. 140, AF&AM.
He was a member of the York Rite and was a Shriner.
He was chairman of the Advancement of the Boy Scouts of America, Bartlesville, Okla., from 1958 to 1968.
He taught Sunday School classes and served as an elder and a deacon at First Presbyterian Church, Miami.
He married Ruth Virginia Williams on June 23, 1939.
She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Glenda King, Derby, Kan., and Roberta Crum, Port Duncan, Okla.; a brother, Harry Brown, St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Mildred Meeks, Yuma, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
Services are pending with Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
Junior Dover
Junior Franklin Dover, 73, Camargo, Okla., died Sunday, Feb. 2, 1997, in Memorial Hospital and Medical Center at Midland, Texas, after an illness.
He was the father of Robert Dover, Joplin.
Mr. Dover was born May 27, 1923, at Minco, Okla.
He moved as a youth to Camargo, where he attended schools and was graduated in 1942 from Camargo High School.
He also attended a technology and trade school for two years to become an accomplished welder.
He was an electrician and plumber in Camargo before he moved in 1952 to Wichita, Kan., where he was a welder for Beech Aircraft.
He moved in 1961 to Jasper, where he farmed and taught in the Carl Junction (Mo.) schools.
He owned and operated the Airport Drive Auto Parts Store in 1976.
He retired in 1991 and returned to Camargo.
He was a member of Camargo Christian Church.
He was a former member and Sunday school teacher for several years at New Providence Baptist Church, Jasper.
He was an Army veteran who served in Destroyer No. 776 Tank Division from March 1946 to March 1949 and attained the rank of Private First Class.
He married Joanna Ellen Moran on Oct. 1, 1947, in Camargo.
She died in 1994.
Additional survivors include another son, Charles Dover, Camargo; a daughter, Ann Dunaway, Midland, Texas; three sisters, Leota Miller, Leedey, Okla., Leatha Andrews, Springfield, and Ruth Prior, Joplin; a brother, Jerry Dover, Joplin; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were Wednesday at First Christian Church, Camargo.
Burial was in Camargo Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home, Vici, Okla.
Robert Davis
GROVE, Okla. - Robert L. Davis, 79, Grove, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after a sudden illness.
Mr. Davis was born Feb. 17, 1917, at Caney, Kan.
He had been a drilling supervisor for Wakefield Drilling Co. at Winfield, Kan., for 21 years.
He retired in 1982.
He lived in Liberal, Kan., and Tyrone, Okla., before he moved to Grove in 1987.
He was a member of the American Legion in Liberal.
He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army Air Force.
He married Helen Purbin on April 17, 1938, at Newkirk, Okla.
She survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Beverly Hinsdale, Hutchinson, Kan., and Joanna S. Michels, Wall, S.D.; three sisters, Treva Alford, Denver, Colo., Maxine Stepson, Austin, Texas, and Helen L. Walker, McPherson, Kan.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Buzzard Cemetery, Grove.
Marvin Tunnell will officiate.
