Richard Gering

MIAMI, Okla. - Richard Dale Gering, 52, Miami, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1997, at his home after an illness.

Mr. Gering was born on Nov. 4, 1944, at Lyons, Kan.

He was a resident of the Miami area his entire life.

He was a brick mason.

He was a member of Southeast Baptist Church, Miami.

He married Sue Spicer on March 4, 1987.

She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Richard Dale Gering Jr., Wyandotte, and Josh Bear, Miami; two daughters, Mary Tackett and Cathy Duffell, both of Miami; three brothers, Clay Gering, Miami, Hank Gering, Commerce, and Jimmie Gering, Fairland; four sisters, Lucy Ann Riley, Coffeyville, Kan., Sue Brashar, Commerce, Hilda Barkdoll, Miami, and Hedy Womack, Medford, Ore.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Jim Thomas Funeral Home, Miami, with the Rev. Leslie Couch and Stephen Hunter officiating.

Burial will be in Butler Cemetery, south of Grove.

Pallbearers will be Leroy Jones, Richard Brittle, Jack Morris, Ralph Morris, Perry Fields and Walt Ragsdale.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Melissa Buckner Lyons

MIAMI, Okla. - Melissa Diane Buckner Lyons, 30, 315 12th Ave. N.E., Miami, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 1997, at her home after an illness.

Mrs. Lyons was born July 29, 1966, in Joplin, Mo.

She moved to Miami in 1990 from Lowell, Kan.

She had been employed at Ed's Electric, Joplin, and Lyon's Playschool and Daycare, Miami.

She was owner and operator of The Lyon's Den Daycare, Miami.

She was graduated in 1984 from Riverton (Kan.) High School, where she was active in volleyball, cheerleading, track and was crowned homecoming queen.

She was a member of The National Honor Society.

She married James Lyons on July 6, 1990, in Peoria.

He survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Trenton Smith and Blaine Lyons, both of the home; her parents, Randall and Martha Buckner, Mustang; and paternal grandparents, Wayne and Betty Buckner, Baxter Springs, Kan.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.

The Rev. Leon Weece and the Rev. John Wilkins will officiate.

Burial will be in GAR Cemetery in Miami.

Pallbearers will be J.W. Mallatt, Johnnie Mallatt, Scott Littlejohn, George Shamblin, Kevin Roberts and Gary Campbell.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the home of the family.

Donald Robertson

GROVE, Okla. - Donald Glen Robertson, 67, Grove route 4, died at 6 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after an illness.

Mr. Robertson was born April 9, 1929, in Grant County, Okla.

He had lived in the Grove area for 45 years, where he moved from Pond Creek.

He was a retired farmer and rancher.

Survivors include a son, Michael D. Robertson, North Hudson, Wis.; two daughters, Dr. Joyce Schmitz Soligo and Martha Lynn Robertson, both of Overland Park, Kan.; a brother, Billy Robertson, state of Colorado; and five grandchildren.

The body has been cremated and no services are planned.

Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.

Walter Bowers

MIAMI, Okla. - Memorial services for Walter David Bowers, 45, 715 B St. S.W., who died Saturday, were at 7 p.m. Monday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, Miami.

Jerry Swopes officiated.

The body has been cremated.

Arrangements were under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.

Jasper Millhollin

WYANDOTTE, Okla. - Jasper D. Millhollin, 15, Wyandotte, died about 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997, during an accidental shooting at an acquaintance's home.

Jasper was born Sept. 19, 1981, at Loveland, Colo.

He was a Wyandotte High School freshman and football player.

He had worked at the Oriental Express restaurant, Seneca.

Survivors include his parents, Billie and Velma Millhollin, Wyandotte route 2; a sister, Rebecca King, rural Wyandotte; and his paternal grandparents, Jasper and Maudie Millhollin, Wyandotte.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wyandotte High School gymnasium.

The Rev. Danny Burleson will officiate.

Graveside services with Indian rites will be at 2 p.m Wednesday at Wyandotte Cemetery.

The family will receive friends until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the home of Shawn and Rebecca King, 128 East Road.

Arrangements are under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca.

James Shepherd

MIAMI, Okla. - Services for James D. Shepherd, 55, Miami route 3, who died Sunday, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.

The Rev. Granville Watson will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Afton.

Pallbearers will be Scott McCool, Jay Cox, Dan Crippen, Stanley Wilcox, Don Pogue and Gordon Jones.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Northeast Oklahoma Veteran's Funeral Detail.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family will be at the home of Mrs. Nondes Byram, 1130 19th Ave. S.W., Miami.

Jack Cooper

Jack Cooper, 79, Hide-A-Way Lake, Lindale, Texas, a former Joplin, MO resident, died Monday, June 2, 1997, at his home after an illness.

Mr. Cooper was born Jan. 5, 1918, at Tar River, Okla., and spent his younger years in Joplin.

He was a member of the Hide-A-Way security force for several years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Cooper.

Survivors include his second wife, Trudie Fae Cooper; three daughters, Vicki Cooper, Powell, Ohio, Pat Whitaker, Ashville, N.C., and Jane Comstock, Naples, Fla.; two sisters, Alberta McDaniel, Joplin, and Helen Baird, Grove, Okla.; a brother, Frank Cooper, Miller; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home, Lindale, with Ray Bratcher, pastor, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of East Texas.
