Josie Fore

QUAPAW, Okla. - Josephine "Josie" Watson Fore, 60, Quapaw route 1, died at 9:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 1997, in a two-vehicle accident south of Picher.

Mrs. Fore was born March 15, 1936, at Picher. She was a lifetime area resident. She was a member of the Quapaw Indian tribe. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Jack William Fore, died March 10, 1985.

Survivors include three sisters, Georgie Ann Owens and Mary Stasell, both of Quapaw, and Martha Jane Longan, Bernice.

Arrangements are pending with Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.

Floyd Landers

MIAMI, Okla. - Graveside services for Floyd Robert "Bob" Landers, 39, 2333 C St. N.E., who died Thursday, will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Fairview Cemetery, east of Chetopa, Kan.

The Rev. Jerry Von Moss will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.

Howard Riggins

WYANDOTTE, Okla. - Memorial services for Howard Benjamin Riggins, 59, Wyandotte, who died Tuesday, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Countryside Church, west of Jasper.

The Rev. Gene Hutchcraft will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Jim Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.

He married Peggy David on June 27, 1959, at Fairberry, Neb. She survives.

Tommy Hart

GROVE, Okla. - Thomas E. "Tommy" Hart, 50, Grove, died Friday, June 27, 1997, of injuries sustained in a one-car accident shortly before 8 a.m. Friday about two miles south of Grove.

Mr. Hart was born Oct. 16, 1946, in the Butler community, near Grove. He was an Air Force veteran, having been stationed in Iceland. He worked for 15 years with his father in the area construction business. For the past 11 years, he managed Main Street Lumber at Southwest City, Mo. He was a member of Butler Baptist Church.

He married Chery Hughes on Jan. 1, 1967, in Grove. She survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Kellie Heatherly and Keri Brewer, both of Grove; his father, Jess Hart, Grove; a brother, Richard Hart, Southwest City; a half-brother, Gordon Johnston, state of Kansas; a half-sister, Norma Chick, state of Colorado; and a grandchild.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Butler Baptist Church, near Grove. The Rev. Dolphus Blevins and the Rev. John Butler will officiate. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 6:30 p.m. today at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

Clint Conner

MIAMI, Okla. - Clinton Morgan "Clint" Conner, 49, 104 G St. N.E., died at 11 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 1996, at his home after a long illness.

Mr. Conner was born June 23, 1947, at Clifton, Colo. He moved to the Miami area from Wichita, Kan., in 1956. He was a retired truck driver for Sitton Motor Lines, Joplin.

He was an Army veteran, serving from 1964 to 1970 in Germany and Vietnam. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the American Legion, both in Miami, and the Disabled American Veterans, Commerce.

Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Moe, Jefferson, Wis., Christy Conner, state of Kansas, and Phyllis Golden, state of Missouri; a son, Johnny Steverson, state of California; his parents, Carl and Marzell Conner, Miami; two sisters, Carla Brummet and Janet Glenn, both of Miami; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami, with the Rev. Carol Holden and Stephen Hunter officiating. Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Miami.

Graveside rites will be conducted by members of the Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Funeral Detail.

Pallbearers will be Everett Stanback, Jim Nowlin, Bill Rion, Glenn Beauchamp, Clyde Atterberry and Gene Shelton.

Contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America or to St. John's Hospice, Grove.

Ora Thompson

AFTON, Okla. - Ora J. Thompson, 73, 115 S. Ross St., died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after a short illness.

Mr. Thompson was born Dec. 4, 1922, at Beatrice, Neb. He had lived in Afton since 1973, moving from Greensburg, Pa. He had worked as a hard rock miner, plumber and electrician. He was a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving as a pilot.

He married Maxine Hollingsworth on March 4, 1959, at Walden, Colo. She survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Robert Thompson, Paris, Texas, and Greg Thompson, Galena, Kan.; a daughter, Debbie Schmidt, Afton; three brothers, Clois Thompson, Beaver Lake, Neb., Lee Thompson, Winfield, Kan., and Elyen Thompson, St. Joseph, Mo.; a sister, Opal Jean Mayfield, state of Missouri; and 14 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Adcock Funeral Home, Afton. Doug Hanson, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Afton.

Pallbearers will be Robert Thompson, Greg Thompson, Bob Braden, James Braden, Jay Chandler and Billy Jones.

Graveside services will be conducted by members of the Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Funeral Detail.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Grace Coble

JAY, Okla. - Grace Irene Coble, 87, Jay, died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1997, at Gravette (Ark.) Hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Coble was born Oct. 9, 1909, in Delaware County. She was a homemaker.

She married Roy Perry Coble on March 23, 1932, in Ottawa County. He died April 12, 1987.

Surviving are four sons, Roy Coble Jr., Dave Coble and Joe Coble, all of Jay, and Norman Coble, Byron, Minn.; two daughters, Irene Abercrombie, Jay, and Louise Murphy, Waggoner; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchidlren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God, Jay. The Rev. Dewane Storne and the Rev. James Bell will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Jay.

Pallbearers will be Daryl Abercrombie, Mike Abercrombie, Charlie Coble, Harland Coble, Kriby Coble and Steve Murphy.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hinderliter-Woodard Funeral Chapel, Jay.

Dora Erwin

MIAMI, Okla. - Dora Irene Erwin, 73, 223 A St. S.E., Miami, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1997, at Baptist Regional Medical Center, Miami, after an illness.

Mrs. Erwin was born Sept. 18, 1923, at Van Buren, Ark. She moved to Miami in 1953 from Fort Smith, Ark.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Miami, Miami Little Theater and Beta Sigma Phi.

She married Harold Erwin on July 1, 1939, at Fort Smith, Ark. he died July 27, 1996.

Surviving are three sons, Bill Erwin and Joe Erwin, both of Miami, and Jerry Erwin, Hattiesburg, Miss.; two daughters, Starr Franklin, Dallas, Texas, and Breeze Erwin, Huntington Beach, Calif.; three sisters, Mildred Morrison, Velma Moon and Dean Coleman, all of Van Buren, Ark.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jim Thomas Funeral Home, Miami. The Rev. Bill Richey will officiate. Burial will be in GAR Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve Becker, Ron Day, Susie Lee, Tom Robinson, Rodney Street and Crystal Williams.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Jim Thomas Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made to the Miami Schools Enrichment Foundation, Oklahoma's Lion Eye Bank, and Miami Little Theater.
