Dorothy Meadows
GROVE, Okla. - Dorothy Bishop Meadows, 76, Grove, died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, after a short illness.
Mrs. Meadows was born Dec. 5, 1920, at Jay. She was a lifelong resident of Delaware County.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge, Grove Garden Club and Grove Homemakers Club, all of Grove.
She was a member of Zena Baptist Church, Zena.
She married Robert Meadows on April 24, 1938, at Jay. He died on Feb. 20, 1992.
Survivors include four daughters, Orlene Humphrey, Claremore, Wanda Creason, Zena, Carolyn Elsey, Miami, and Betty St. Clair, Broken Arrow; a brother, Chester Bishop, Zena; a sister, Maxine Willmore, Kansas City, Mo., nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Zena Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester Crittenden and the Rev. Mike Hamm officiating. Burial will be in Zena Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hinderliter-Woodard Funeral Service, Grove.
Faye Roberts
GROVE, Okla. - Faye Roberts, 88, Grove, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 1997, at a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Roberts was born Sept. 10, 1908, at Southwest City, Mo. She was a lifelong area resident. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Deborah Sunday school class at First Baptist Church, Grove, and a charter member of Star Homemakers Club.
She married John Roberts on April 15, 1926, in Delaware County. He died Dec. 26, 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Roberts and Everett Roberts, both of Grove; a daughter, Joyce Williams, Purdy, Mo.; two sisters, Jewell Serpa, Watsonville, Calif., and Thelma Sharp, Salinas, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, Grove. The Rev. Lloyd Crawford and Robin Cowin, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Cayuga Cemetery, Grove.
Pallbearers will be Jimmie Roberts, Max Wallace, Mike Teel, Casey Williams, Todd Burgess and David Mareth.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Hinderliter-Woodard Funeral Service, Grove.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Gideons Bible Fund or the First Baptist Church Choir Robe Fund, in care of the funeral home.
Roy Painter
AFTON, Okla. - Roy Fenton Painter, 95, Fort White, Fla., formerly of Afton, died at 5 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 1997, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Painter was born March 8, 1901, in Indian Territory. He moved to Florida from Fort Smith, Ark., and had lived there since 1943.
He worked 20 years as an engineer for the Civil Service and worked 12 years at Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. He was a member of the Baptist church, the Elks Lodge in Florida and the Rod & Reel Club in Bermuda.
He married Irene Boyd on Nov. 7, 1941, at Stilwell. She survives.
Additional survivors include three grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; a son; a daughter; and a stepson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
Earlene Hobson
GROVE, Okla. - Earlene Shirley Hobson, 78, Grove, died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Hobson was born Jan. 1, 1919, at Sparland, Ill. She moved to the Grove area in 1981. She was an inspector at Liberty Glass Plant, Sapulpa, until she retired in 1981.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Grove.
She married Russell Shirley in 1935. He died in March 1990. She married Millard "Ed" Hobson on Aug. 13, 1993. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Larry Ronald Shirley, Grove, and Larry Lee Shirley, Houston, Texas; two daughters, Sherry Hendrix, Tulsa, and Carol Stenecipher, Grove; a sister, Vinita Johnson, Buffalo, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, Grove, with Marvin Tunnell, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Kansas Cemetery, Kansas, Okla.
The body has been cremated.

John Martin
PEORIA, Okla. - John Martin, 46, 71 E. Main St., died at 9:57 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997, at Veterans Affairs Hospital at Kansas City, Mo., after a long illness.
Mr. Martin was born March 21, 1950, at Miami. He was a lifetime Quapaw area resident. He was an auto mechanic and he last worked at Youngblood Chrysler Co., Springfield, Mo. He was an Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon Martin; four sons, Paul Martin, Pittsburg, Kan., Roy Martin, Farmington, Mo., and Jason Martin and Travis Martin, both of the home; his parents, Roy and Mable Martin, Peoria; a brother, Bob Martin, Peoria; and a sister, Tresa Johnson, Nashville, Mo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
Zelma Plummer
MIAMI, Okla. - Zelma Plummer, 87, Miami, died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997, at a nursing home in Dewey after a long illness.
Mrs. Plummer was born Sept. 17, 1909, at St. Paul, Ark. She moved to the Miami area in 1993 from Grove. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Joseph Plummer, died Feb. 8, 1979.
There are no immediate survivors.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Woodland Cemetery, Sand Springs. Jim Pinkston, minister, will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hinderliter-Woodard Funeral Service, Grove.
Raymond Allen
GROVE, Okla. - Raymond Allen, 73, Grove, died at 5:08 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 1997, at Grove General Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Allen was born Aug. 19, 1923, at Columbus, Kan. He was a telegraph operator for the Santa Fe Railroad at Bartlesville, Okla. He retired in 1983. He moved to the Grove area in 1990 from Dewey.
He attended First Christian Church, Grove. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving from 1943 to 1946 as a second class electricians mate.
He married Dorothy Drovdahl on Sept. 7, 1947, at Spokane, Wash. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Bobby Lee Allen, Bartlesville; a daughter, Barbara Shrum, Lawton; a brother, Donald Allen, Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Marjorie Denney, Grove, and Marguerite Caudle, Redding, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Grove. Marvin Tunnell, minister, will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Hinderliter-Woodard Funeral Service, Grove.
William Links
FAIRLAND, Okla. - William Eugene "Bill" Links, 74, 7 N. Smith St., died Thursday night, Jan. 23, 1997, at his home after a sudden illness.
Mr. Links was born March 16, 1922, at East Fork Township, Ill. He was retired from the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Links and Paul Links, both of Fairland; a daughter, Lorette Gayle Pierce, Longview, Wash.; and a brother, Dude Landreth, the state of Illinois.
Arrangements are pending with Adcock Funeral Home, Fairland.
