John Nicholson
WYANDOTTE, Okla. - John E. Nicholson Jr., 72, Wyandotte, died at 11 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after a long illness.
Mr. Nicholson was born May 10, 1924, in the Monark community, northwest of Picher. He had lived in the Wyandotte area most of his life. He was a mechanicfor Yellow Freight at Baxter Springs, Kan. He previously worked in the lead and zinc mines at Picher.
He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Miami.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby I. Nicholson; a son, Jimmy Lee Nicholson, Miami; three daughters, Anna Back, Bernice, Edwina Robinson, Wyandotte, and Laverna Whitely, Grove; his mother, Anna Nicholson, Wyandotte; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
Gracie Roland
MIAMI, Okla. - Gracie Roland, 83, 205 B St. N.E., died at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Jan., 24, 1997, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after a long illness.
Mrs. Roland was born Dec. 12, 1913, in the state of Oklahoma. She moved to Miami in 1992 from rural Welch. She was a homemaker and a member of Mabelle Baptist Church, northeast of Welch.
Her husband, Leonard Roland, preceded her in death.
There are no immediate survivors.
Arrangements are pending with Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
Roe Biddy
GROVE, Okla. - Roe Andrew Biddy, 82, Grove, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 1997, at Grove General Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Biddy was born Dec. 18, 1914, in Warren. He received his degree in chemical engineering in 1936 from Oklahoma A&M; College at Stillwater. He had worked for DuPont Chemical Co. before he joined Phillips Petroleum Co. He retired after 32 years in 1977. He spent most of his years, while working for Phillips, in the states of Oklahoma and Texas. He had two overseas assignments with the company - three years in Italy, and a shorter time in Belgium. He was a member of Grove First Baptist Church.
He married Roe Geraldine Felts on April 11, 1937, in Muskogee. She survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Rita Richards, New Baltimore, Mich.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grove First Baptist Church. Robin Cowin, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in Olympus Cemetery in Grove.
Contributions may be made to the Grove First Baptist Church choir, or to the Hospices of Grove.
Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home,Grove.
LeElla Jarrett
MIAMI, Okla. - LeElla Grace Follis Jarrett, 82, 2525 North Elm St., Miami, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at St. John Medical Center, Tulsa, after an illness.
Mrs. Jarrett was born Nov. 5, 1914, at Fairland. She had lived in Miami for 74 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Miami, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She married Elmer Jarrett. He died.
Survivors include a son, Bob Jarrett, Broken Arrow; a daughter, Jean Richardville, St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Virginia Mae Sapp, Miami; and eight grandchildren.
Private family services were held. Arrangements were under the direction of Jim Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Nellie Augat
GROVE, Okla. - Nellie O. Augat, 82, Grove, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at a home in Kenwood after a long illness.
Mrs. Augat was born June 11, 1914, at Steamboat Springs, Colo. She was a homemaker and a member of Hickory Grove Church, Grove.
She married Gus Augat on Nov. 6, 1986, at Las Vegas, Nev. He survives.
Additional survivors include two brothers, Paul H. Edmondson, Ontario, Calif., and George Edmondson, Chino, Calif.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Belfast Cemetery, near Neosho, Mo. Mark Edmondson, pastor, will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.
Jimmie Crippen
MIAMI, Okla. - Services for Jimmie Lee Crippen, 67, 222 G St. N.W., who died Thursday, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
The Rev. Gerald Baser will officiate. Burial will be in Fields Cemetery, east of Grove.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Funeral Detail.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Lorene Ingram
COMMERCE, Okla. - Lorene B. Rader Ingram, 78, 1211 E. D St., died at 3:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after a long illness.
Mrs. Ingram was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Miami. She was a lifetime resident of the Miami and Commerce communities. She was a retired cook and a member of North Miami Baptist Church.
Her husband, Eppy Ingram, died in 1989.
Survivors include three sons, William Babbitt, Commerce, Virgil Babbitt, Liberty, Mo., and Clinton Babbitt, Wright City, Mo.; two daughters, Clara Hail and Emmalene Cindrity, both of Joplin; a brother, Raymond Rader, North Miami; a sister, Earline McGhee, North Miami; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Jim Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce. The Rev. David McCord will officiate. Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Miami.
Pallbearers will be Sean Babbitt, Michael Propst, Phillip Hail and Bryan Babbitt.
Lois Nowlin
MIAMI, Okla. - Lois W. "Sissy" Nowlin, 71, 2231 Willow Lane, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at the home of her sister in Lebanon, Mo., after a long illness.
Mrs. Nowlin was born Oct. 26, 1925, at Wyandotte. She lived in the Miami area all her life. She was a homemaker, waitress and secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Miami.
Survivors include two sisters, Nadine Captain, Miami, and Sue Lamont, Lebanon, Mo.; three half brothers, Carl Greenfeather, Wyandotte, A.J. Greenfeather, address unavailable, and Roy Greenfeather, state of Washington; and two half sisters, Emma Donaldson, state of South Dakota, and Marie Beasley, Shawnee, Okla.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher. The Rev. W.D. Hollandsworth and the Rev. Don Greenfeather will officiate. Burial will be in GAR Cemetery.
Indian graveside services will be conducted by Charles Dawes.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Hollandsworth, John Stand, Jimmie Greenfeather, Greg Rendel, Carl Greenfeather and Lonnie Greenfeather.
