JAY, Okla. - Rebecca M. Scroggins, 35, Jay, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at Gravette Medical Center, Gravette, Ark., after a sudden illness.
Mrs. Scroggins was born June 7, 1961, at Stella, Mo. She lived all her life in the Grove, Jay and Little, Kan., areas. She attended schools in Jay and Grove. She was a homemaker and a member of Free Holiness Church, near Twin Oaks.
Survivors include her father, Alvin Dean Richardson, Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Rusty Johnson, Southwest City, Mo.; maternal grandmother, Ruth Compton, Anderson, Mo.; and paternal grandmother, Ruby Duben, Springfield.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove. Travis Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Polson Cemetery, near Southwest City.
The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Iona Trask
MIAMI, Okla. - Iona Belle Trask, 82, 1100 Pine Place, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at a nursing home in Miami after a long illness.
Mrs. Trask was born Dec. 3, 1914, in Miami. She was a lifetime resident and a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Miami.
She married Zelmer B. Trask on Sept. 27, 1930, at Columbus, Kan. He died Feb. 1, 1966.
Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Potts, Eufaula, and Bobbi Crow, Miami; three sons, Claude Trask, Grove, Rod Trask, Arlington, Texas, and Jack Trask, Miami; a brother, Claude Hicks Jr., Miami; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church. The Rev. Clyde Stilley will officiate. Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Miami.
Grandsons serving as pallbearers will be Slugger Trask, Skipper Trask, Zach Trask, Terry Crow, Steve Crow, Don Trask, Russell Trask and Rick Potts.
The family will be at the home of a son, Jack Trask, 1128 D St. N.E., Miami.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
Contributions may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church building fund.
Opal Utsler
WELCH, Okla. - Services for Opal L. Utsler, 74, Welch route 2, who died Tuesday, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
The Rev. Harold Neal will officiate. Burial will be in Williams Timberhill Cemetery, east of Welch.
Pallbearers will be Chris Utsler, J.R. Ramsey, Cris Mitchell, Harold Hickham, Fred Payton and Dennis Goins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to St. John's Hospice at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo.
Nellie Webber
MIAMI, Okla. - Nellie Poplin Webber, 94, 416 Coyne Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at a nursing home in Quapaw after a long illness.
Mrs. Webber was born March 29, 1902, in Adair, Indian Territory. She moved to the Miami area in 1970 from Tulsa. She was a homemaker and had worked for Marylus in Tulsa for 10 years.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church and was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star at Adair and the White Shrine at Muskogee.
She married Cordell Webber on Jan. 22, 1922, at Adair. He died in January 1959.
Survivors include two daughters, Beatrice Warren, Miami, and Leatrice Slankard, Tulsa; a son, Donald Webber, Miami; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Adair (Okla.) Cemetery. Terry Warren will officiate.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Opal Wooldridge
dies at age 101
GROVE, Okla. - Opal Wooldridge, 101, Grove, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at Grove General Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Wooldridge was born Feb. 7, 1895, at Yantis, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Dallas, Texas, until she moved to Grove several months ago. She was a member of Owenwood United Methodist Church, Dallas, and a charter member of the Dallas Navy Mother's Club.
She married Geoffrey H. Wooldridge on Dec. 15, 1915. He died March 12, 1980.
Survivors include a son, Bryce Wooldridge, Grove; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Grove Hill Cemetery, Dallas. The Rev. Charles A. Neal Jr. will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.
Norma Hall
COMMERCE, Okla. - Services for Norma Sue Hall, 60, 300 N. Maple St., who died Sunday, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
The Rev. Mark Linn and The Rev. Ralph Reddout will officiate.
Burial will be in GAR Cemetery in Miami.
Pallbearers will be Tom Gilbert, James Hall, George Montgomery, Harold Allen, Shawn Allgood and Jerry Allgood.
Opal Utsler
WELCH, Okla. - Opal L. Utsler, 74, Welch route 2, died at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1997, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Utsler was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Miami, and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was an operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 30 years. She was graduated in 1940 from Miami High School. She was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers, Rebekah Lodge of Miami and Mound Valley Baptist Church. She married Charles Utsler Sr. on Jan. 28, 1940, in Miami. He survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Phillis Jane Hughes, Welch; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
Jimmie Crippen
MIAMI, Okla. - Jimmie Lee Crippen, 67, 222 G St. N.W., died at 1:22 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami.
The death is being investigated by the Tulsa Medical Examiner's Office.
Mr. Crippen was born Feb. 2, 1929. He moved to the Miami area one year ago from Grove. He was a disabled veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include a son, James Allen Crippen, Miami; a daughter, Violet Crippen, Turlock, Calif.; a brother, Jessie Crippen, Miami; three sisters, Christina Baker, Miami, Violet Brown, Wichita, Kan., and Laurie Boles, Pineville, Mo.; and a grandchild.
