Bud Dunning
PICHER, Okla. - Floyd H. "Bud" Dunning Jr., 51, Hicksville, Ohio, formerly of Picher, died Monday, Jan. 6, 1997, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at Hicksville.
Mr. Dunning was born May 12, 1945, at Hemet, Calif.
He was graduated from Picher High School in 1964.
He began working for B.F. Goodrich, Miami, in 1963 before transferring to Uniroyal-Goodrich Tire Manufacturing Plant, Woodburn, Ind., where he worked for eight years.
He was a member of Hicksville Masonic Lodge and Hicksville Eagle Lodge.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
He married Lilly Houser. She survives.
Additional survivors include four sons, Floyd H. "Buddy" Dunning III and Jason Paul Dunning, both of Picher, Rusty Williams and Chris Dunning, both of the home; a daughter, Donna Spencer, Baxter Springs, Kan.; his mother, Maxine Young, Seneca, Mo.; two sisters, Alice Turner, Fairland, and Beverly Lemmon, Vancouver, Wash.; a half-brother, Harold Young, Seneca; two half-sisters, Elizabeth Carol Bearrick, Chanute, Kan., and Betty Wachter, Hemet, Calif; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
The Rev. Kenneth Thulin will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, northwest of Treece, Kan.
Military rites will be conducted by Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Funeral Detail.
Pallbearers will be Dan Douse, Gary Hasseberg, Larry Linthicum, Doug Smith, Dan Sharp and Ed Yankowski.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ella Leake
BERNICE, Okla. - Services for Ella Rosalie Leake, 74, 405 Cherokee Drive, who died Friday, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bernice Baptist Church.
The Rev. Chester Crittenden will officiate.
Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami.
Pallbearers will be Chad Masterson, Jack Leake, Michael Leake, Chris Brown, Sonny Bowden and Ed Miller.
The family will be at the home of James Leak, 62600 E. Highway 137, Miami.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
Contributions may be made to Bernice Baptist Church.
Charles Surridge
MIAMI, Okla. - Charles Owen Surridge, 80, 11410 S. 587 Road, Miami, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after an illness.
Mr. Surridge was born July 31, 1916, at Alba, Mo.
He moved to Miami from McCune, Kan, in 1971.
He had been an electrician for 46 years, spending several of those years as an electrician at Eagle-Picher Mining Co., Miami.
He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, Miami, and Masonic Lodge, McCune.
He married Betty Pyle on Dec. 1, 1989, at Miami.
She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Charles Surridge Jr., the state of Hawaii; four brothers, George Surridge, Miami, Bob Surridge, Oolagah, Jerry Surridge, Springfield, Mo., and Roy Surridge, Pittsburg, Kan.; a sister, Margie Lanford, Seneca, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
Services are pending with Paul-Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
Charles Weaver
FAIRLAND, Okla. - Services for Charles C. Weaver, 81, 22400 S. 560 Road, Fairland, who died Thursday, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Fairland.
The Rev. Ron Mimms will officiate.
Burial will be in Welch (Okla.) Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sherman Sly, Leon Burris, Ron Vincent, Roger Meister, Jackie Crafton and Lelen Overacre.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. today at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Fairland.
Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church.
The family will be at 335 W. Ritter St., Fairland.
Trenton Williams
PICHER, Okla. - Trenton Thomas Reed Williams, the 5-day old infant son of Thomas Dunbar and Cheryl Williams, both of Picher, died at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, Mo.
The infant was born Jan. 6, 1997, at Miami.
Additional survivors include maternal grandfather, Kenneth Williams Jr., Miami and maternal grandmother, Dara Williams, Picher; paternal grandfather, Tommy Dunbar, Baxter Springs, Kan. and paternal grandmother, Delores Dunbar, Baxter Springs; maternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Williams Sr., Miami and maternal great-grandmother, Judy Hames, Picher.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Cemetery, northwest of Treece, Kan.
The Rev. Steve Joiner will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Paul-Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
Lois Alen
GROVE, Okla. - Lois L. Alen, 85, Grove, died at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 1997, at a local nursing home.
Mrs. Alen was born April 30, 1911, in Naylor, Mo.
She had lived in Grove for 16 years.
Her husband, William W. Alen, and a daughter preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Lena Mae Beason, Claremore, Okla.; a brother, George Johnston, the state of Indiana; a sister, Ruth Hicks, the state of Illinois; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.
Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
Charley King
GROVE, Okla. - Charley C. King, 85, Grove, died at 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at Grove General Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mr. King was born Oct. 16, 1911, in Chicago, Ill.
He lived in Nebraska until 1970 when he moved to California.
He did janitorial work until retiring in 1980, when he moved to Neosho, Mo.
He moved to Grove in 1987.
He married Lydia Schuldies on Dec. 5, 1937.
She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Harvey King, Grove, and Alden King, Mitchell, Neb.; two daughters, Barbara McGlassion, Pine Ridge, Mo., and Kathy Mazier, Grove; a brother, Freddie King, the state of California; a sister, Katherine Reitz, the state of California; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
The Rev. Bob Barker will officiate.
Burial will be in Olympus Cemetery, Grove.
