Gladys Coker
GROVE, Okla. - Gladys Marie Comer Coker, 87, Grove, died at 8:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 1997, in a Grove nursing home after an illness.
Mrs. Coker was born Oct. 6, 1909, at Guymon.
She moved in 1946 from Pryor to Miami, where she worked at the B.F. Goodrich plant until she retired in 1971.
She moved to Tulsa and then to Grove in 1992.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Tulsa.
Her husband, Kern Clay Coker, died Nov. 2, 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Ben Coker, East Windsor, Conn., and Lewis Coker, Grove; a daughter, Connie Craft, Tulsa; a brother, Art Comer, Portland, Ore.; a sister, Elsie Hill, Portland; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Jim Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
The Rev. Dale Rogers will officiate.
The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
Trenton Williams
PICHER, Okla. - Graveside services for Trenton Thomas Reed Williams, five-day-old infant son of Thomas Dunbar and Cheryl Williams, both of Picher, who died Friday, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Greenlawn Cemetery, northwest of Treece, Kan.
The Rev. Steve Joiner will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
Louis Newman
MIAMI, Okla. - Graveside services for Louis L. Newman, 76, 10021 S. Sheridan, Tulsa, formerly of Miami, who died Monday, will be at noon Thursday in GAR Cemetery, Miami.
The Rev. Noel Doherty will officiate.
The family will receive friends at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
Thelma Rakes
GROVE, Okla. - Thelma "Gerri" Rakes, 78, Grove, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1997, at her home after an illness.
Mrs. Rakes was born June 8, 1918, at Cassville, Mo.
She was graduated in 1938 from Nowata High School.
She moved to Afton in 1952 and to Grove in 1970.
She was retired from the Delaware County Department of Human Services.
She was a Methodist and a Navy veteran of World War II.
She married Emmit James Driscoll on Nov. 11, 1948, at Miami.
He died in August 1969.
She married Tom Rakes in 1973 in Grove. He died in 1976.
Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Smith, Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother, Donald P. Jones, Miami; and a sister, Marilyn Jones, Tulsa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
The Rev. Charles Horton will officiate.
Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, Mo.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Dorothy Bunce
QUAPAW, Okla. - Dorothy Lee Bunce, 66, Quapaw, died at 2:29 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 1997, at her home after a long illness.
Mrs. Bunce was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Lincoln County, Okla.
She worked 25 years at Moncrief Greenhouse, Lowell, Kan.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hockerville.
She married Oscar Junior Bunce on Jan. 1, 1960, at Douthat. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Danny Bryant and Lloyd Bunce, both of Quapaw; a brother, Charles Ray Clingenpeel, Woodard; two sisters, Kathleen Byrant, Aplena, Ark., and Pauline Corcoran, Neosho, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
The Rev. Chuck Price and the Rev. Robert Taylor will officiate.
Burial will be in Baxter Springs (Kan.) Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ray Dean Shoemaker, Wyan Simms, Paul Howey, Tommy Bunce, Donald Bunce and Tim Bunce.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Red Miller
MIAMI, Okla. - Services for Garland Lee "Red" Miller, 65, 308 Fourth St. N.W., who died Sunday, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
The Rev. David McCord and the Rev. Bob Whitchurch will officiate.
Burial will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, east of Miami.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Egnor, Ronnie Watkins, Jim Watkins, Jerry Goins, Frankie Goins and C.J. Masters.
Louis Newman
MIAMI, Okla. - Louis L. Newman, 76, Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Miami, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 1997, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, after an illness.
Mr. Newman was born March 18, 1920, in Miami.
He was a design engineer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring after 25 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
His wife, Doris Newman, died Sept. 23, 1980.
Survivors include a son, Louis E. Newman, Broken Arrow; and a brother, Walter Newman, Miami.
