Lucy Studie

JAY, Okla. - Lucy Studie, 74, Jay, died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, at her daughter's home in Jay after a long illness.

Mrs. Studie was born April 15, 1922, in Delaware County.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Cherokee Nation and Pine Ridge Baptist Church.

She married Bill Studie in October 1984 in Jay. He died Sept. 11, 1984.

Survivors include three sons, Joseph King Fisher, Salina, and Rider Studie and Robert Studie, both of Jay; two daughters, Wilma Dry and Marilyn Payton, both of Jay; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Jay.

The Rev. Clifford Loftis and the Rev. Chuck Glass will officiate.

Burial will be in Jumper Cemetery, Jay.

The body will be taken to the home of Wilma Dry, Jay, after 5 p.m. today.

Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

Goldie Cook

GROVE, Okla. - Goldie E. Cook, 82, Grove, died Sunday, June 1, 1997, at Grove General Hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Cook was born Feb. 10, 1915, in the Turkey Ford community, near Grove.

She was a member of Turkey Ford Assembly of God Church and had lived all her life in the Turkey Ford community.

She married Elzie E. Cook in 1937 at Columbus, Kan. He survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Elmer Cook, Grove, and Charles A. Cook, Turkey Ford; a daughter, Kay Fields, Grove; two brothers, Reuben Rhodes, Wyandotte, and Gaylord Rhodes, Fairland; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Worley-Lugenbuel Funeral Home, with the Rev. Anna Mae Griffin and the Rev. Fred Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Howard Cemetery, near Turkey Ford.

Visitation will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Carl Angel

MIAMI, Okla. - Carl R. Angel, 78, 825 E. N.W. St., died at 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, 1997, at a local nursing home after a short illness.

Mr. Angel was born Feb. 1, 1919, at Fairland, Okla.

He was a lifetime area resident.

He attended Fairland High School.

He worked at the B.F. Goodrich plant in Miami from 1945 to 1975.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Floyd L. Perry American Legion Post #147, Miami.

He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He attended the Restoration Branch Church of Jesus Christ, Miami.

He married Anna Dean on July 7, 1942, at Columbus, Kan.

She survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Randy Angel, Fairfield, Texas; two daughters, Nancy Pritchard, Missouri City, Texas, and Becky Allen, Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister, Mamie Carr, Miami; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The body was donated to the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Tulsa.

Memorial services will be announced by Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.

Wilma Asbery

GROVE, Okla. - Wilma Asbery, 73, Grove, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at her home after a long illness.

Mrs. Asbery was born Aug. 12, 1923.

Survivors include her husband, G. A. Asbery; six children; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grove Christian Center, with the Rev. Leon Vernon officiating.

Burial will be in Olympus Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. today at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

Sandra Ellison

Sandra Lea "Sandy" Ellison, 57, Cookson, Okla., died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at Tulsa Regional Medical Center, after an illness. Her daughter, Tris Chew, lives in Joplin.

Mrs. Ellison was born June 28, 1940, at Sulphur Springs, Ark.

She owned Sam's Restaurant in Cookson.

She was a pioneer of the Tenkiller Area Community Organization (TACO), serving as a past president.

She also was involved with the Cookson Jubilee and was a member of the Cookson Fire Department for 19 years.

She was a member of Cookson First United Methodist Church.

Additional survivors include her husband, Eldon; two sons, Johnny Ellison, Leavenworth, Kan., and Billy Ellison, Cookson; her parents, John and Gwen Howerton, Cookson; two sisters, Donna Short, Tulsa, and Steva Guthrie, Van Buren, Ark.; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Cookson First United Methodist Church.

The Rev. David Lowry will officiate.

Burial will be in Cookson Cemetery, under the direction of Hart Funeral Home, Tahlequah.

Pallbearers will be Dick Ledgerwood, Norman Niederbrach, Judd Knowles, Darcy Hicks, Ed Bray and Jerry Nickels.

William Helton

GROVE, Okla. - William Harris Helton, 78, Grove, died Friday, Oct. 10, 1997, at a Grove nursing home after a long illness.

Mr. Helton was born May 17, 1919, at Shurbert, Neb.

He served 22½ years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1959.

He later spent 12½ years with the Bureau of Prisons in Missouri as food administrator, retiring in 1974.

He was a member of Pearl Harbor Survivors and the Veterans of ForeignWars, Springfield.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Adams, Grove; two daughters, Joan Masterson, Tulsa, and Michele Davidson, Grove; a stepdaughter, Sandi Orf, St. Charles, Mo.; four sons, David Helton, Tom Helton and James Helton, all of Tulsa, and William R. Helton, Central America; three brothers, Elmer Helton, Reno, Nev., Dick Helton, Columbus, Ohio, and Mike Helton, Gilberttown, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Jefferson Barricks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. Veterans' rites will be conducted by Survivors of Pearl Harbor.

Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.

Mary Summerfield

EUCHA, Okla. - Mary Louise Summerfield, 65, Eucha, died at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, at St. John's Hospital, Tulsa, after a long illness.

Mrs. Summerfield was born July 6, 1932, in Delaware County.

She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church, north of Jay.

She served as a granny at Jay Public Schools in Mrs. Cunningham's kindergarten class.

She was a member of the board for Elder Care/Meals on Wheels, Jay.

She married John Wayne Summerfield on Dec. 9, 1960, at Miami.

He survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Marvin James Summerfield, Jay; four daughters, Wanda Faye Littlebear, Tulsa, Katherine Ann Newcomb, Tahlequah, and Janice L. Weaver and Lisa L. Bennett, both of Claremore; four brothers, John Lee Tanner and Jack Tanner, both of Jay, Danny Tanner, state of Minnesota, and Michael Tanner, Tahlequah; five sisters, Minnie Kaye and Regina Fouse, both of Tulsa, and Bertha Teague, Mary Rogers and Martha Tanner, all of Jay; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Delaware Baptist Church, Jay, with the Rev. Larry Kingfisher officiating.

Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, north of Jay.

Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay.
