Michael Hailey
MIAMI, Okla. - Michael Rex Hailey, 50, 403 Bay St., died at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after a long illness.
Mr. Hailey was born April 30, 1946, at Neosho, Mo.
He had lived in the Miami area most of his life.
He graduated from Miami High School in 1964 and from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in electronic engineering.
He worked for Texas Instruments at Richardson, Texas, for 12 years and for Eagle-Picher Industries in Miami for 16 years.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Miami.
He served in the Navy's avionics division from 1964 to 1968.
He married Linda Marie Shipman on April 8, 1966, in Miami.
She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Michael R. Hailey II, rural Miami, Jeremy Hailey, Miami, and Matthew Thomas Hailey, Fort Campbell, Ky.; a daughter, Sarah Sorrentino, Miami; three sisters, Sharon Campbell, Broken Arrow, Sandra Hunt, Austin, Texas, and Sue Sly, Miami; and three grandchildren.
The body was donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kan.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Miami.
The Rev. Charles Horton will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
Linda Miller
AFTON, Okla. - Linda Miller, 50, Afton, died at 6:59 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at Freeman Hospital East, Joplin, Mo., after three months of ill health.
Mrs. Miller was born May 13, 1946, at Higgins, Texas.
She had lived in the Afton area most of her life.
She was a homemaker.
She attended the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Miller and Terry Miller, both of Afton; two daughters, Bobbi Andrews and Debbe Maupin, both of Afton; her stepfather, David Hunter, Afton; a brother, Bobby Lee Mays, Modesto, Calif.; a stepbrother, Rick Hunter, Germany; a stepsister, Enola Hunter, Cincinnati, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God Church, Afton.
Burial will be in Fairland (Okla.) Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Adcock Funeral Home, Afton.
Joseph Thompson
MIAMI, Okla. - Joseph S. Thompson, 84, 433 Bay St., died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., after a long illness.
Mr. Thompson was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Miami.
He graduated in 1930 from Kemper Military Academy and received his juris doctorate degree in 1934 from Oklahoma University.
He practiced law in Miami for over 60 years.
He was a former Ottawa County prosecuting attorney and served with the Miami Industrial Development Authority.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Miami; Post No. 2,688, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Miami Masonic Lodge No. 140, AF&AM; and the Oklahoma Bar Association.
He was a member of the advisory board of First National Bank and Trust Co. of Miami for over 40 years.
He was a past member of the Elks Lodge and the Miami Utility Board.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a lieutenant.
He married Letha Wall on Feb. 5, 1938, in Miami. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Joe Thompson and Jim Thompson, both of Miami; a daughter, Sandy Leake, Miami; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Miami.
The Rev. Chuck Horton will officiate.
Burial will be in GAR Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John F. Robinson, Herb Sherard, Chuck Goldenberg, Joe Weatherford, John Finley III and John F. Robinson Jr.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.

Lorraine White
MIAMI, Okla. - Lorraine R. White, 76, 819 A St. N.W., Miami, died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after a long illness.
Mrs. White was born Jan. 19, 1920, in the state of Illinois.
She graduated from Miami High School and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Miami.
She also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary and the Elkettes.
She married Norman White on June 5, 1949, in the state of Arkansas.
He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Sharon Seamon, Miami, and a granddaughter.
Arrangements are pending with Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami.
Margaret Booth
PICHER, Okla. - Margaret B. Booth, 69, Picher, died at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at a Miami nursing home after a long illness.
Mrs. Booth was born March 6, 1927, in Baxter Springs, Kan.
She moved to Picher in 1939 from the state of Kansas.
She had been employed as a nurse's aide for Miami Baptist Hospital.
She was a member of the Pentecostal in Jesus' Name Church, Treece, Kan.
Her husband, Joseph Booth, preceded her in death on April 29, 1994.
Survivors include four sons, James Harvey, Leon Harvey and Johnny Harvey, all of Picher, and Ernest Harvey, Baxter Springs; two daughters, Evelyn Nichols, Miami, and Karen Krokroskia, Baxter Springs; a sister, Wanda Raney, Jay; 23 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are pending with Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher.
Hugh Harvey
GROVE, Okla. - Hugh Otis Harvey, 77, Grove, died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at Grove General Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Harvey was born Jan. 6, 1919, at Redfield, Kan.
He retired in 1981 after 35 years as a mechanic for a Chevrolet dealership in Taylor and Waco, Texas.
He had served in the Third Armored Division under Gen. George Patton during World War II.
He was wounded in France and received a Purple Heart.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, First Baptist Church and the church's Joy Sunday school class.
He married Glenda Abel on Jan. 2, 1988, at Independence, Mo.
She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Otis Harvey, San Antonio, Texas; a stepson, Wilfred Wilcox, Grove; a daughter, Noamia Benefield, Magnolia, Texas; a stepdaughter, Judy Scarborough, Lee's Summit, Mo.; two brothers, Charley Harvey, St. Paul, Kan., and Jerry Harvey, Vian; five sisters, Edna Mae March, Fort Scott, Kan., Ada Jean Chaffin, Forsyth, Mo., Katie Simon, Conway Springs, Kan.; Bonita Wrestler, Chanute, Kan., and Joan Ellis, Junction City, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday at Hinderliter-Woodard Funeral Service, Grove.
The Rev. Ollie Odle officiated.
Burial was in Olympus Cemetery, Grove.
Richard Lindly
JAY, Okla. - Richard J. ``Dick'' Lindly, 85, Jay, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at Grove General Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Lindly was born April 25, 1911, at Pryor Creek.
Before World War II, he was a construction foreman abroad and on Tennessee Valley Authority dam projects and at Grand River Dam.
He served in a Navy construction battalion and was a chief petty officer during World War II.
After the war, he was an automobile mechanic teacher and a farmer in Jay until he moved to Stringtown, where he worked for an Oklahoma Department of Corrections' vocational school.
He moved in 1962 to Jay, where he farmed and operated Lindly Liquid Propane Gas.
He was a Mason, a Shriner and was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Elks, all of Jay.
He married Rosalie Gayle Coppinger on Jan. 17, 1937. She died Nov. 4, 1990.
Surviving are two daughters, Jo Ann Pearson, Fresno, Calif., and Gladine Lindly, Houston, Texas; two sons, Jeff Lindly, Jay, and Dicki Lesikar, Gidding, Texas; a sister, Pat Weaver, Jay; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Jay.
The Rev. Mike Chase will officiate.
Burial will be in Duffield Cemetery, Jay.
Family will be at the home.
