JAY, Okla. - Services for Richard J. ``Dick'' Lindly, 85, Jay, who died Sunday, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Jay. The Rev. Mike Chase will officiate. Burial will be in Duffield Cemetery, Jay.
Survivors include a daughter, Dicki Lesikar, Gidding, Texas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay.
Billy Roberson
GROVE, Okla. - William M. ``Billy'' Roberson, 49, Grove, formerly of Joplin, Mo., died at 12:56 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at Grove General Hospital after an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Roberson was born Nov. 3, 1947, at Joplin. He was a lifetime resident of Joplin until moving to the Grove area in 1995. He worked in the parts department at Trism, Inc., Joplin. He was a member of Fellowship Lodge No. 345, AF&AM, Joplin.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Roberson, Lawrence, Kan., and Douglas Roberson, Cambridge, Mass.; a daughter, Suzie Roberson, Lawrence; three sisters, Joan Cummings and June Peters, both of Joplin, and Patsy Murray, Herrin, Ill.; and a brother, Johnny Roberson, St. Louis, Mo.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin. Services will be conducted by Fellowship Lodge No. 345, AF&AM, Joplin.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
Contributions may be made to the travel fund of the Joplin Shrine Club, in care of the mortuary.
Christopher Summers
GROVE, Okla. - Christopher Wayne Summers, infant son of Ora Lee and Juanita Faith Hulse Summers, Springfield, Mo., former Grove residents, died at birth Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Ariel Summers and Jessica Summers, both of the home; paternal grandmother, Louise Gider, Miami; and maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Alfa and Everett Barker, Zena.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Grove. Pearline Blevins will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove.
Delmar Treat
GROVE, Okla. - Delmar M. Treat, 50, Grove, died Thursday night, Dec. 19, 1996, at Grove General Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mr. Treat was born June 24, 1946, in the state of Oklahoma. He worked for the Fife Corp at Oklahoma City for 20 years. He moved to Grove in 1988. He and his wife started Carolyn's Day Care Center in Grove in July 1988.
He married Carolyn Sue Younger on Jan. 10, 1970, at Oklahoma City. She survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, John Treat and Steven Treat, both of the home; and two sisters, Carolyn Sue Dunning, Oklahoma City, and Sharon Treat, the state of Minnesota.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove. The Rev. Ray Melugin will officiate. Burial will be in Olympus Cemetery, Grove.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Frona Chastain
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Curtis F. Brock, 94, Oklahoma City, formerly of Jay, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, after a long illness.
Mr. Brock was born June 3, 1902, at Shell Knob, Mo. He and his wife owned and operated Brock's 5 and 10-cent store at Jay for 13 years. He was a schoolteacher and a superintendent of schools at Adair, Okla., before he moved to Jay, where he taught school for 46 years. He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God.
He married Vera Winter on Nov. 19, 1934. She died in July 1994.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice McCarty, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Worley-Luginbuel Chapel at Jay. Dr. John Terry will officiate. Burial will be in Spavinaw Cemetery west of Jay.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
Pauline Foster
MIAMI, Okla. - Pauline Foster, 83, died at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 1996, at Baptist Regional Medical Center, Miami, after a long illness.
Mrs. Foster was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Potters, Kan. She was a longtime resident of Seneca, Mo., and Miami. She was a homemaker and attended Commerce Community Church, Commerce.
She married George Emmett Foster on Feb 8, 1926. He died in 1983.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Foster and George Foster, both of Miami; four daughters, Venda Conduss, Dallas, Texas, Betty Friend, Seneca, Norma Prater, Wyandotte, and Donna Marlow, Owasso; 17 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca. The Rev. Robert Rabel will officiate. Burial will be in Seneca Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
Dock Bates
GROVE, Okla. - Charles A. ``Dock'' Bates, 76, Grove, died at 7:19 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, at Grove General Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mr. Bates was born May 21, 1920, at Grove. He had lived in the Grove area all his life. He worked for the Oklahoma State Highway Department maintenance crew until retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge and Disabled American Veterans, all of Grove. He was a founding member of the Jumping Jacks Mule Club, Grove.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He received six Bronze Star Medals, an American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, a Purple Heart and Phillipine Liberation Ribbon.
He married Emma Elliott in August 1946 at Oswego, Kan. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Randy ``Red'' Bates, Grove; a daughter, Irma Crank, Muskogee; two brothers, Bob Bates, Owasso, and James Bates, Grove; two sisters, Clara Goss and Cordilia Ford, both of Grove; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Olympus Cemetery, Grove, with Marvin Tunnell, minister, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hinderliter-Woodard Funeral Service, Grove.
Millie Johnson
QUAPAW, Okla. - Millie Pearl Johnson, 82, Quapaw, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, after an illness.
Mrs. Johnson was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Quapaw and was a lifetime area resident. She was a teacher for 32 years before retiring. She taught school in Picher, Cardin, Hockerville, Oak Grove and Edna, Kan.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and Order of Eastern Star No. 325, both of Quapaw, and the Retired Teachers Association of Ottawa County.
She married Herbert Joe Johnson on Aug. 22, 1950, at Bentonville, Ark. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Herbert James Johnson, Miami, and Dwight David Johnson, Commerce; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Picher. The Rev. Leslie Couch Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Newman Cemetery, east of Quapaw.
Pallbearers will be David Johnson, Jason Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Max Graham, Richard Stepp and Shawn Shoemaker.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
