Tommie Fine Hagan, 89, was born June 4, 1915 in Booth, Ark. She died Oct. 13, 2004 in Bixby. She was a lifetime member of the Tulsa community, a member of the South Tulsa Baptist Church. She was a retired police officer and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
The funeral service was Oct. 18, 2004 at the Heath Memory Chapel with the Rev. Paul Greene officiating. Arrangements were by Alderwoods-Heath Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Gladys Fuller
Gladys Fuller was born April 19, 1908 in Rockford, Ill. She died Oct. 14, 2004 in Tulsa at the age of 96.
She was retired from American Airlines and was affiliated with the Carbondale Church of Christ and had been a member of the Tulsa community since 1977.
Graveside services were Oct. 16 at Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Buddy Bolin officiating.
Arrangements were by Alderwoods-Heath Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Dale Reed O'Connell
Dale Reed O'Connell, 81, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004. He was born Aug. 7, 1923 in Home, Kansas. He married Frances Lorraine Richards on Feb. 28, 1941 in Missouri.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in France and Germany. He worked at Swift and Armour Meat Packing. He was the supervisor of the Kelly Ranch from 1975 unti 1991. He was a member of Towne & Country Christian Church in Coweta, and a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Joseph. Dale was a founding member of the Pony Express Beagle Club in St. Joseph and a member of the Oil Capital Beagle Club in Tulsa. He had lived here since 1974.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 in the Lion's Club Hall in Altamont, Mo.
Arrangements were made by Alderwoods-Heath Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Georgie Fuqua
Services for Georgie Eva Fuqua, 87, of Skiatook, who died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, were Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Osage Gardens Cemetery.
Interment and services were under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
She was born Oct. 7, 1917, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Ora Lee and Mary Agnes Sumner Murphy. She received her education in Hutchinson, Kan., graduating in 1935. She married Roland Fuqua on Aug. 1, 1935, in Wichita. They made their home in Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska and Oklahoma. They moved to Skiatook in 1977 where they made their home.
She was a bookkeeper for several years. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and a sister.
Flora Gipson
Services for Flora Elizabeth Gipson, 98, who died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, were Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at the Avant United Methodist Church.
Private family interment at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulsa and services were under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
She was born on March 7, 1906, in Coweta Indian Territory to Weep and Minnie Simms Carter. She married Edgar Andrew Gipson on Dec. 11, 1926, in Tulsa. She was a member of the Avant United Methodist Church for 51 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include a son, Tom Gipson and wife Carol; a daughter, Pat Gentry and husband Glen; a brother, Jack Carter and wife Thelma, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a grandson and eight siblings.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Avant United Methodist Church building fund in Avant.
Victoria Marcille
Services for Victoria Marcille, 47, of Tulsa, who died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, were Monday, Dec. 6, at the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorial services and cremation were under the direction of the Osage County Cremation Service.
She was born July 3, 1957, in Tulsa to Jerry Fitzgerald and Virginia Lee Adkisson Barnett.
She received her education at Byrd Elementary and graduated in 1975 from Memorial High School. She had worked for many years at Cities Service Oil Company in Tulsa as a systems analyst.
After early retirement she spent some time as chef and cook at fishing villages in Alaska. She also worked at some well known restaurants in Las Vegas.
After leaving Las Vegas and visiting Tulsa for a summer she took a new challenge and relocated to Key West, Fla., where she worked in many famous restaurants and clubs there. She spent the last seven years there before returning to Tulsa this fall to attend to her sick brother Ralph, as well as her own ailments. Ralph preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 2004.
Survivors include a host of family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her mother and father.
Kathryn Miller
Services for Kathryn B. Miller, 87, of Turley, who died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, were Friday, Dec. 10, in the Turley United Methodist Church.
Interment at Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry and services were under the direction of the Johnson Funeral Home in Sperry.
She was born on May 22, 1917 in Freesoil, Mich., to Charlie and Effie May Avery Burden.
When she was four months old she and her family moved to Lima, Ohio.
At the age of two and half, Miller and her family traveled back to Oklahoma and moved to Barnsdall for a short time.
They then moved to Turley where her father got a job working on a lease near Bird Creek Falls for the F.A. Gillespie Company.
She went to school to Turley. During the summer of 1933, she was made a member of the Kappa Gamma Society and went with the girls on many outings. Miller also went with the Epworth League to Spavinaw and Arkansas.
On May 1, 1934, she married John Wesley Miller. In 1935 she graduated high school and was named valedictorian.
She held many offices at the Turley United Methodist Church Women’s Society. They included president, secretary, and local, district and conference treasurer.
She also taught Sunday School for 29 years.
The Millers went into the garage business in 1945. While John was busy in the garage, Kathryn was busy in the kitchen baking her famous chocolate cakes for the bond sales during World War II.
She was always busy helping her church and family.
Survivors include: a sister, Lily Jo Eslick, nieces: Ann Campbell of Langley, Phyllis Stokes and husband Paul of Owasso, Diana Lohnbakken and husband Ralph of Broken Arrow; niece-in-law, Debi Eslick of Skiatook; a nephew, Mike Rogers of Salina; great-nieces: Dawn Maloney and husband Benny of Langley, Shelly Rogers and husband Dusty of Arkansas, Mandy Blakeney and husband John of Skiatook, Tammy Payne and husband Chris of Skiatook, Lisa Whiteman and husband Jeff of Skiatook, Kim Adams and husband Darin of Broken Arrow, great nephews: Robert Campbell of Langley, Charles Stokes and wife Marilyn of Fort Worth and Grant Lohnbakken of Broken Arrow, 12 great-great nieces and nephews: Samantha and Sydney, who are twins; Asheley, Ryan, Peyton, Samantha, Carrissa, Kyndel, Jacob and Shelly Rogers’ three children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister and her husband, brother-in-law and a nephew.
WILLIAN KNOX JOHNSON, JR.
WILLIAN KNOX JOHNSON, JR., 80, was born May 13, 1924 and died Dec. 3, 2004. He was a retired salesman for Dr. Pepper Distributing Company. He was once a professional baseball player, a catcher for the New York Giants. He attended Boston Avenue United Methodist Church.
A private memorial service will be held in his memory. Arrangements are being handled by Alderwoods-Heath Funeral Home and Crremation Center.
CARMEN E. Griffith
CARMEN E. Griffith, 91, died Dec. 10, 2004 in Tulsa. She was born Feb. 22, 1913 in Reno, Okla.
She is survived by a step-daughter Clydean Griffith Burns of Gladstone, Mo.
Private family services will be under the direction of Mark Griffith Memorial Funeral Home, Westwood Chapel in Tulsa.
