SHAWNEE – A memorial service for Dennis “Dino” Ainesworth, who worked in Seminole County, was scheduled for Tuesday morning at Chapel of Walker Funeral Service. Rev. Ray Belford was set to officiate. Services were under the direc tion of Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee. Ainesworth died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 at an Oklahoma City Hospital at the age of 43. He was born July 29, 1959 in Claremore to Bob and Mary Ainesworth. He attended schools at Nowata, Sequoyah, Chilloch, and Wann. Ainesworth was the plant foreman for Al-Ko Kober Industries. He was a national Gold Glove boxer. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin Ainesworth; and one sister, Aleta Katherine Ainesworth. Ainesworth is survived by his wife, Leslie Lynn Ainesworth of the home; three sons, Dion Ainesworth of Dewey, Mike Ainesworth of Shawnee, and Kane Ainesworth of the home; three daughters, Roxanne Dobbs and Melissa Smith, both of Dewey, and Lacretia Ainesworth of Holdenville; two stepchildren, Scotti Lynn and Rory, both of the home; five grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters, Bobbi Winters, Eddie Ainesworth, David Ainesworth, Richard Ainesworth, Dondi Henry, Wigi Black, Tandi Warren, Joe Ainesworth, Tony Ainesworth, Robin Ainesworth, and Mike Ainesworth.
Cecilia Elliott
Funeral services for Cromwell resident Cecilia L. Elliott were scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at Cromwell Baptist Church. Rev. Carl Whitfield was set to officiate. Interment followed at Schoolton Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home. Elliott died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003 at Unity Health Center of Shawnee at the age of 65. She was born July 12, 1937 in Talala to James B. and Elena (Kniffen) Epple. She had been a resident of Cromwell for 45 years where she managed the local Stuckey’s Pecan Shoppe for 20 years before retiring. Elliott was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Cromwell. She also served as a Butner School Board member. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kenneth Walter Elliott Jr.; one brother, James Mallay Epple; and two sisters, Deloris Lay and Bonnie Spurgeon. Elliott is survived by three daughters, Jeanny Allensworth of Cromwell, Sherta Elliott of San Diego, Texas, and Sylvia Smith of Guthrie; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Patty Epple of Dewey and Charles Epple of Nowata; and one sister, Juanita Anders of Nowata. Pallbearers were Dane Allensworth, Rusty Elliott, James Hewitt, Floyd Hewitt, David Hewitt, John Mark Spurgeon, Robert Hassell, and Jimmy Factor. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Warrington, Gene Warrington, Kenneth Edgemond, Kenneth DeShields, John L. Spurgeon, and Leon Brown.
Helen (Rodgers) Blair
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Helen Jenette (Rodgers) Blair are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Trena Smithee is set to officiate. Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Blair died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 70. She was born Dec. 2, 1932 in Seminole to Elza Byron and Dora Meala (Fisher) Rodgers. She married Eubin Blair on Dec. 16, 1957 in Seminole. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1971. Blair retired from Hayes Axle on Oct. 30, 1992 after 16 years. She was also preceded in death by her daughters, Cleta and Janet Marshall; stepchildren, Judy and David Blair; her mother, Cora Spann; her father, Byron Rodgers; four sisters, Edna Rodgers, Ruby Houck, Alice Houck, and Cathryn Rodgers; and her brother, Eldon Dean Rodgers. She is survived by one brother, Elza Rodgers of Wewoka; and one sister, Carolyn Sue Huntington of The Dalles, Ore.
Willie Lee Eubanks
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Willie Lee Eubanks are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel. Johnny Hinton is set to officiate. Interment is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home. Eubanks died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003 at Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 85. She was born April 1, 1917 in Wewoka to Thomas Jefferson “Raymond” and Jennie May Brooks Carroll. She attended schools in Adair and Seminole County. Eubanks married C.V. Eubanks on July 7, 1937 in Wewoka. He preceded her in death in June of 1990. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Wewoka. She was baptized at the age of 13. She is survived by one daughter, Diane Loughman of Norman; three sisters, Ruth Jeffery of Wewoka, and Edith Roberts and Alta Dyer, both of Edmond; two granddaughters; and one great- grandson. Eubanks was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Merel Carroll; and two sisters, Lena Taughber and Ethel Winebarger. Pallbearers are Dave Roberts, Jim Richmond, Steve Richmond, Pat Allen, Noel Curington, and George Richmond. Honorary pallbearer is her grandson, Madison Allen.
Hazel Dilbeck
Word has been received of the death of former Seminole resident Hazel Dilbeck. Dilbeck died Dec. 6, 2002 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 88. She was born Jan. 19, 1914 in Bloomer, Ark. to Herbert and Bessie Stuckey. She graduated from Wetumka High School and attended junior college in Wetumka. Dilbeck married T.P. Dilbeck. They lived in Seminole from 1940 to 1960. She had traveled to Canada, Mexico, and all 50 states. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Fred; a sister, Irene; two brothers, Elzie and Dale; and her husband. Dilbeck is survived by two daughters, Jan Dilbeck of Houston, Texas, and Neva Dilbeck Simonton of Katy, Texas; three grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and one brother, Jim Stuckey of Odessa, Texas.
Billy Don Allen
Funeral services for Seminole resident Billy Don Allen are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Green is set to officiate. Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Allen died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 62. He was born Jan. 19, 1940 in Spaulding to George Washington and Mattie Bestine (Cain) Allen. He married Kathy M. (Dillon) on June 25, 1960 in Seminole. She survives him of the home. Allen retired from the street department of the City of Seminole. He was a member of Twin Oak Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Debbie Cox in 1982; two granddaughters, Courtney Martin and Chrystal Cox; one brother, Kenneth Allen; and one sister, Muriel Rose. Allen is also survived by one son, Ricky Allen of Wewoka; one daughter, Becky Martin of Seminole; three grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Allen of Wewoka; two sisters, Jewel Allen of Wewoka and Helen Redwine of Spaulding.
Bill Davis
Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Bill Louis Davis are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Dr. Kelvin Moseley is set to officiate. Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Davis died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2003 at his home at the age of 74. He was born Jan. 14, 1928 in Seminole to Louis E. and Wilma (Taylor) Davis. He married Donna Irene (Hause) on Sept. 11, 1952 in Seminole. Davis retired from Melco Production in 1990. He also worked 21 years for Electrolux Corporation. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he was a Seaman 2nd Class. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian K. Davis; and one sister, Odelle Works. Davis is survived by his wife, Donna Davis of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Mary H. Davis of Addison, Texas; his daughter and son-inlaw, Lisa D. and Bill C. Campbell of Seminole; his daughter-in-law, Kathy Davis of Arlington, Texas; and four grandchildren, LaDawna Campbell, Rebecca Campbell, Joshua Davis, and Jacob Davis.
Calvin Grace
Funeral services for Seminole resident Calvin Layfayette Grace are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Rev. David Karges is set to officiate. Burial is to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direc tion of Swearingen Funeral Home. Grace died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at Seminole Estates Nursing Home at the age of 98. He moved to Seminole from Ada eight years ago. He was born Oct. 6, 1904 in Logan County to William L. and Matilda (Neil) Grace. Grace married Beulah (Tigner) Grace on Nov. 19, 1930 in Guthrie. He was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of Farm Bureau and a former member of Latta Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Grace was currently a member of First Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by his wife of the home; one brother, Paul Grace of Tulsa; and one sister, Velma Dunning of Seminole.
Jennie Coon Cotanny
Funeral services for Konawa resident Jennie Coon Cotanny are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church in Sasakwa. Revs. Ed George and Franklin Harjo will officiate. Burial will follow at Coon Family Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. A wake service is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. at the family home in Konawa. Jesus called our beloved mother home on Jan. 2, 2003 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada at the age of 75 years old. She retired from Carl Albert Health Facility in Ada as a LPN. She was born to Billy and Wesley (Davis) Coon on May 31, 1927 in Sasakwa. On June 26, 1948, she married Wilford Cotanny in Yuma, Ariz. Jennie was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Walter, Bennie, and Arthur Coon; two sisters, Martha and Annie Coon; husband Wilford on Sept. 22, 1974; and oldest son, Lucian Jay Cotanny. Jennie is survived by one son, Dennis Cotanny of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bianca and Kenneth Lawrence and DiAnn and Sam Wheeler of Konawa; daughter-in-law, Catherine Cotanny of Tecumseh; two sisters-in-law, Lorene Williams of Oklahoma City and Eliza Coon of Sasakwa; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Grant Cotanny, Waylon Cotanny, Charles Lawrence, Kenny Lawrence Jr., Brian Wheeler and Lucian Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be Lucian Allen Cotanny and Donald Givens.
Walter Garner II
Funeral services for Wewoka resident Walter William Garner II are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Wewoka. Rev. Russell Ryker is set to officiate. Interment is to follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direc tion of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home. Garner died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003 at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 29. He was born in Holdenville on Dec. 5, 1973 to John Paul and Nancy Jo Cole Garner. He was reared in the Seminole County area and graduated in 1992 from Wewoka High School. Following graduation, Garner enlisted in the U.S. Marines where he served for four years prior to returning to Wewoka. He was employed by ABC Boring Corporation, a company that lays communication cable. He married Leslie Hendrix on Oct. 12, 2002, and he has a daughter, Ashlynn Brooke Garner, by a previous marriage. Garner is survived by his wife, Leslie Garner of the home; his daughter, Ashlynn Brooke Garner of McLoud; his parents, John Paul Garner and Nancy Jo Cole Garner of Wewoka; two brothers, John Garner Jr. and his wife, Sandra Lee of Holdenville, and Tommy Garner and his wife, Sandra Jo of Wewoka; and one sister, Jeanie Garner Lemons and her husband, Jerry, of Wewoka. He was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents. Pallbearers will be Rick Ogle, Justin Chambers, Brandon Smith, Matt Hale, Shane Findley, and David Conley.
Wilma Boyington
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Wilma Boyington are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. R.T. McDonald is set to officiate. Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Boyington died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002 at Southwest Medical Center at the age of 68. She was born Dec. 26, 1934 in Seminole to Elmer and Lela (Gentry) Billings. She married Buddy Boyington on June 7, 1968 in Stinnett, Texas. Boyington was a retired daycare and store manager. She attended Bowlegs Schools. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Daniel Billings in 1999; two nephews and one niece. Boyington is survived by her husband of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Connie Hinman of Lawtey, Fla., David Ross Hinman of Melbourne, Fla., and Steven Kay and Laree Hinman of Oklahoma City; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Phyllis Billings of Ponca City and Raymond and De Billings of Seminole; one sister, Geraldine Johnston of Willis, Texas; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Rebecca (Welch) Dunn
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Rebecca Ann (Welch) Dunn were held Friday in her hometown of Goodsprings, Ala. Dunn died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002 at the age of 62. She was born Aug. 27, 1941 in Yukon to Rev. Hubert and Fern Welch. She grew up on a farm north of Seminole and attended Strother High School. She graduated as the valedictorian of the Class of 1959. Dunn attended Seminole Junior College in the fall of 1959. She moved to Miracle Valley, Ariz. in January of 1960. She had retired as a high school teacher several years ago. Dunn was preceded in death by her father, Hubert Welch. She is survived by her husband, Bud Dunn; two children, Deborah Shelton of Fairbanks, Ala., and Timothy Dunn of Tyler, Texas; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Melodie Fulmer and Carol Christensen; and six brothers, Butch, Buddy, Dick, Don, Mick, and Dean Welch.
Eunice Holt
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Eunice (Love) George Holt are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Rev. Allen Wood is set to officiate. Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Holt died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at her home in Texas at the age of 83. She was born Jan. 10, 1919 in Baldknob, Ark. to Merle and Nancy (Collier) Love. She married Allan J. Holt on July 14, 1972 in Wolf. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1993. Holt was a retired psychiatric tech. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Allan J. Holt. She is survived by her sons, Les George, Allen George, Charles George, and Larry George; two daughters, Opal Hilton and Colleen Hobbs; one sister, Birdie Starr; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Karan Ann Douthit
Funeral services for Karan Ann (Higdon) Douthit are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Chapel. Rev. David Karges of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Wolf Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Douthit died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 50. She was born Feb. 1, 1952, in Pauls Valley to George Kenneth and Jennie Lee (Rounseville) Higdon. She moved to Seminole from Mayesville at the age of five. She graduated from Seminole High School in 1970 and later from Seminole State College. She worked at Bowlegs Public Schools for several years and was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She married Robert L. Douthit Sr. on June 7, 1974, at First United Methodist Church; he survives her, of the home. Other survivors include her parents, George and Jennie Higdon of Seminole; two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Misty Douthit and Robert L. and Kara Douthit, all of Seminole; and one daughter, Deana Douthit, of the home; two brothers, Kenneth Higdon, Yukon, and Keith Higdon, Dallas; and two grandchildren, Tyler and Jaxon Douthit, both of Seminole. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Luther and Kate Higdon and Wayne and Elizabeth Powell, and her mother- and father-in-law, Truman and Leta Douthit. Pallbearers will include Wayne Madron, George David Higdon, Bobby Armstrong, Barry Armstrong, Keith Douthit and Gary Douthit. Honorary casketbearers include Matt Anson and David Moore.
