Sonny Shobert

Life flows swiftly by, like a river. You put your feet in the stream for a while, and the water parts around your ankles. Some people make waves, some people build islands where they erect monuments to themselves or their achievements. Some simply wade steadily along, placing one foot in front of the other. When a man leaves…the river flows onward, and usually there is little or no evidence of his coming or going. The water washes away everything…but… the footprints left on the hearts of those who loved him. Sonny was such a man…held dear in the hearts of those who loved him. E.R. ‘Sonny’ Shobert was born Sept. 12, 1924 to George William Shobert and Virginia Ann Dillard-Shobert in Keota. He passed from this life on July 12, 2003 at Seminole Medical Center. He came to the Seminole area 75 years ago and was a graduate of Carr City High School. He worked for Crystal Waters Company, Meadow Gold Dairy and retired in 1986, from OG&E.
