Funeral services for Seminole County native, Henry Luther Alexander, of Oklahoma City are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, April 8 at the Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. A. Glen Woodberry, of the Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Oklahoma City officiating. Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery of Wewoka under the direction of Myers Mortuary of Wewoka. Alexander died April 2, 2004, at the age of 41 in a motorcycle/car accident in Oklahoma City. He was born Feb. 20, 1963, in Wewoka as the seventh child to L.B Sr. and Gertie B. Alexander. As a child, he attended New Hope Baptist Church in Wetumka. He received his education in the Wewoka School System and lettered in basketball, football and track, graduating in 1981. He attended El Reno Junior College where he earned an associate degree in business communications and played basketball, where he earned the nickname, “Luke.” Alexander continued to pursue his education at Concordia Lutheran College in Austin, Texas. He became a member of the Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, as well as a member of the men’s basketball league. He worked for Fred Jones as an automobile assembly lineman for five years and was employed with Dayton Tire as an automobile quality technician. He enjoyed sports and riding motorcycles as his hobbies. His grandparents and one brother, Decovan, preceded him in death. He is survived by his parents, L.B. and Gertie Alexander Sr., of Wewoka; three brothers, Saunders Alroy Alexander and L.B. Alexander Jr., both of Wewoka and Ivy Alexander of Tulsa; and three sisters, Vernonia “Pat” Kline of Washington, D.C., Rita Colbert of Edmond and Sametria Stevenson of Oklahoma City.
Naoma Alexander
Funeral services for Naoma Hampton (Jordan) Alexander are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, April 8 at the St. Louis First Baptist Church with Glen Williams and Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Collins Cemetery in St. Louis under the direction of the Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud. Alexander died Monday, April 5, 2004, at the age of 84 at Shawnee Unity North in Shawnee. She was born Oct. 4, 1919, in St. Louis to Fain Dexter Jordan and Altha (Patrick) Jordan. She married James “Speck” Hampton on Sept. 23, 1939, in Sulphur. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church in Maud. She lived most of her life in St. Louis and was a Pottawatomie resident for 84 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hampton in September 1979; two brothers, Ray Jordan and William P. “Big Bill” Jordan; and several other family members. She is survived by one brother, Raymond Eston Jordan of Hugo; two sisters, Dorothy Williams of Maud and Edith Splawn of St. Louis; and other family and friends. Casket bearers will be nephews and great nephews.
Nancy Ausher
Memorial services for Seminole County resident, Nancy Ausher - Nee Vanhenenryek are scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, June 3 at the Mission Baptist Church in Wewoka with Bro. Dwight Gonzales officiating. Ausher, formerly of Fairborn, Ohio, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at her daughters home in Canute, after a short illness. She was born in Terre Haute, Ind in 1937. and moved to Norwalk, Ohio with her parents, where she lived until she enlisted in the USAF. Asher was a civil servent for the United States Government for 35 years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, Ohio. She served four years with the United States Air Force then became a reserve with the Ohio Air National Guard. When Ausher retired, she was given the highest civilian award given by the government. She moved to Wewoka to enjoy her retirement. She was a member of the Mission Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Viva Vanhentenryck; one son, Barry Maurer and Granddaughter, Leslie Anne. Ausher is survived by three brothers, James R. Vanhentenryek, Buster Vanhentenryek, and Victor Vanhentenryek; three daughters, Brenda Gannon of Dayton, Beth Chelf of Cantue and Margaret Maurer Millard of Fairborn, Ohio; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Lillian Louise Alford
Funeral services for Lillian Louise Alford will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Hudson-Phillips Chapel in Holdenville with Rev. Don Reed officiating. Alford, 84, died Aug. 6, 2004 and she was born Sept. 9, 1919 to Henry David and Netta “Bell” Woodruff in Locust Grove. She was raised in Hannah and married John Walter Langwell, who preceded her in death, on March 27, 1979. Alford lived in the Calvin area for a while and later moved to Holdenville in 1957. Later in life she married Herbert Alford. She has worked as a welder in a Calif. shipyard during World War II. She has also worked at Boyce Manor Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide for many years, and as a private duty nurse in Oklahoma City. Alford was a member of the Living Christ Church Inc. of Greenville, Texas. Her husband Herbert Alford precedes her in death. Survivors include her three children, Sandra and husband Tommy Kirkland of Blanchard, Larry and his wife Lu Langwell of Holdenville, David and his wife Diana Langwell of Wewoka; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Pallbearers for the services will be Cecil Cox, Roger Woodruff, Ronnie Woodruff, Jake Woodruff, Gary Woodruff, and Bo Woodruff. Honorary pallbearers will be Lenval Woodruff, and William Henry Cox. Interment will follow at Hannah Cemetery in Hannah under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Butch Bur
George Irvin “Butch” Burk, 64, Wewoka resident, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, in Shawnee after a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10 at the Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel with Bill Chisum, officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka. Butch was born on Sept. 6, 1940, in Wewoka, to George “Shorty” and Faye Burk. He graduated from Wewoka High School and attended Milwaukee Technical College. He was a self-employed floor covering and carpet salesman and contractor. He is preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Glen Hulsey. He is survived by his first wife, Barbara Burk Schuster, Racine, Wis.; son Randy Burk and wife Tammy, daughter, Beth (Burk) Maxwell and husband Tim, of Cudahy, Wis.; and grandchildren Jason, Keeghan, and Joshua Burk, Lake Geneva, Wis., and James and Dylan Maxwell of Cudahy, Wisc.; his second wife, Donna Burk, Shawnee; daughters, Sgt. Jeanette Conrad and husband Brian, of Wewoka, and Dawn Burk of Shawnee; and grandchildren Deonna and Dorothy Conrad of Wewoka; two sisters Gayle Hulsey and husband Larry, Graham, Texas, and Jennifer (Ginny) Johnston of Wewoka. Pallbearers will be Brian Conrad, Mike Hulsey, Larry Hulsey, George Johnston, Bud Rowland, and Terry Mosley. Honorary bearers will be Jason Burk, Keeghan Burk, Joshua Burk, James Maxwell, and Dylan Maxwell.
Dorothy Compto
Memorial services for former Seminole resident Dorothy Compton, 75, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in McAlester. The services will be under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service and officiated by Wendell Marley. Compton died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at a McAlester nursing home. She was born May 6, 1929, in Seminole to Homer and Margaret (Cooper) Compton. She was a Seminole High School graduated and attended East Central State College in Ada. She received a bachelor’s degree in arts and education. Her education was completed at the University of Oklahoma, where she obtained a master’s degree in education, the first person in both the Cooper and Compton families to graduate from college. She was a teacher and obtained many certificates and awards in her career, including “Teacher of the Year” for the state of Oklahoma. She enjoyed playing golf, fishing, playing tennis and bowling. Compton was an accomplished college debater, who had won many awards and trophies. She was also a beauty pageant winner. She moved to McAlester in the later ‘70s and was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Betty Pippin; and one brother, Jack Compton. Survivors include her brother, Joe Compton, Semi- nole.
Gynith Mildred Cathey
Graveside funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Gynith Mildred Cathey are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Little Cemetery. Burial will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Cathey died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Unity Health Center North in Shawnee at the age of 88. She was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Crane, Mo., to William Brantley and Lulu (Upshaw) Rogers. She moved to Seminole 62 years ago from Yellville, Mo. She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. She married Loyd N. Cathey on March 6, 1937, in Oklahoma City; he preceded her in death on April 2, 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild. Survivors include her son, Troy D. Cathey, Seminole; two daughters, Sue Marshall, Sand Springs, and Patsy Gower, Seminole; one brother, Leo Rogers, Harrison, Ark.; one sister, Virginia Clarkson, Bentonville, Ark.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Johnny Lee Brown
Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Johnny Lee Brown, 22, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Emmons will officiate. Burial will follow in Little Cemetery. Brown died Sept. 7, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa. He was born Jan. 25, 1982, in Shawnee to Phillip Brown and Modean Campbell. He attended Strother Public Schools until eighth grade, moving at age 12 to Shawnee, where he graduated from Bethel High School in 2001. While in school, he was active in the FFA. Brown was home on leave from the U.S. Army’s First Armored, 137th Alpha Company, stationed in Freebird, Germany. He was a specialist E-4. Survivors include his mother, Modean Campbell of Shawnee; his father and stepmother, Phillip and Linda Brown of Prague; one sister, Wanda Comstock, Shawnee; and his grandmother, Joyce Brown of Seminole. Pallbearers will include T.J. Roberson, Matthew Causey, Bo Cannon, David Guderian, David Casto, Greg Smith, Sam Myclintoc and Chris Campbell. Honorary casketbearers are Zaniel Doyle, Chris Giels and Aaron Dickson.
Warnie Brady
Funeral services for Sasakwa resident Warnie Brady are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jerry George will officiate, with Rev. Ray Bevelhymer assisting. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home. Brady died Monday in Holdenville at the age of 88. He was born Aug. 19, 1916, at Bald Hill to Warren Walter and Dora May (Rutherford) Brady. He attended Bald Hill School. He retired from the oilfield. Brady married Lillie Maye Roger on July 21, 1939, in Shawnee; she survives him of the home. Other survivors include three sons, Edward of Tulsa, Bill and Tim, both of Sasakwa; one daughter, Claudia Barnhart, Sasakwa; one sister, Helen Hoppes, Depew; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Brady was preceded in death by one son, Carl Melvin Brady; five brothers, Everette, Vernon, Ovet, Austin and Joe; and one sister, Viola Hughes. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Brady, Jeff Brady, Roger Brady, Mathew Brady, Kivin Pensoneau and Scott Johnson. Honorary casketbearers are Steven Brady, Mark Porter and Roman Rosalez.
Robert Charles Landrum
Services for Robert Charles Landrum, of Asher, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Graveside Moral Cemetery with burial to follow in Moral Cemetery, Tribbey. Rev. Jerry Plumley will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Landrum died in an Ada nursing home Sept. 4, 2004. He was 81. Landrum was born to William Adam and Rosetta (Peyton) Landrum in Hulbert on Dec. 22, 1922. Landrum married Martha (Jacobs) Landrum on Nov. 15, 1943 in Shawnee. He was a farm worker and an Army veteran. He was also a member of the Hazeldell Baptist Church. Landrum was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, of the home; five sons, Bobby, Lonnie, Ronnie, Bruce and Dicky; six daughters, Rose Selzer, Sue Capps, Mae Norris, Kay Jenkins, Brenda Shircliff and Linda Willcox. His brother Richard and sister Julie Goodson also survive Landrum.
Raymond Hoskison
Graveside funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Raymond Earl Hoskison are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Little Cemetery. Brent Hoskison will officiate. Burial will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Hoskison died early today at Seminole Estates Nursing Center. He was born March 18, 1911, in Ringland, to Samuel and Nancy (Rose) Hoskison. He worked in construction and drove a school bus for Strother School. He retired from the City of Seminole street department. He married Vera Lillian Parr on July 17, 1933, in Duncan; she died Aug. 15, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Jean Orrell, Seminole; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Pauline M. Love
TYRONE – Funeral services for former Seminole resident Pauline M. Love will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Tyrone Baptist Church with Jesse Murphy presiding. Interment will be in the Tyrone Cemetery. Love died Sept. 2, 2004 at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kan. She was born to Alva C. and Clara W. (White) Broughton on June 8, 1929 in Saddle Mountain. She graduated from Seminole High School before moving with her family to Tyrone in 1961. Love was a bookkeeper for Love Pumping for many years and did volunteer work for the Salvation Army Store in Liberal, Kan. Love was a longtime Avon representative and enjoyed auctions, sewing, needlepoint, and spending time with her family. She was of the Christian faith. On Nov. 27, 1929 she married Robert T. Love in Pawhuska. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1999. She is survived by four sons, Charles Love of Kansas City, Kan., Philip Love of Tyrone, Kan., John Love of Liberal, Kan., Robert Love Jr. of Guymon; four daughters, Carolyn Gonzales of Derby, Kan., Kaye Christensen of Hattiesburg, Miss., Roberta Bridenstine of Turpin, Virginia Hinton of Liberal, Kan.; sister, Elva Ruth Fitz of Shattuck; 28 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. Miller Mortuary located at 908 N. Lincoln, Liberal, and Kan is handling arrangements.
Dylan Isaiah Harjo

Dylan Isaiah Harjo was born and died Sept. 1, 2004 at Carl Albert Indian Health Facility in Ada. Rev. Billy Coon will officiate and pallbearers are Mark Little and Glen Harjo. Honorary bearers are Dave Little, Thomas Little, Edward Little, Edward Harjo, and Tommy Frank. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Cindy Harjo; great-grandparents, Cora Lowe; and Buster and Millie Little. His survivors include his parents; sisters, Felicia and Alicia Harjo; brothers, Zachary and John Harjo, all of the home; grandparents, Newman Harjo of Holdenville, and Harvey and Wanda Little of Cromwell.

Graveside services for longtime Seminole resident LaJuana J. Cross will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sat. at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Cross, 71, died on Sept. 2, 2004 at Norman Regional Hospital. She was born to Newt and Odessa (Watson) Meeks on April 14, 1933 in Seminole. She married R.L. Cross on June 30, 1951. She was a homemaker and member of Seminole First Baptist church. Her husband and one sister, Betty Hays, preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Mona and husband Floyd Griffin of Seminole, and Debbie and husband Mike McCoy of Tulsa; two brothers, Bill and wife Marge Meeks of Shawnee, and Jack and wife Margie Meeks of Seminole; sister Juanita Cornelison of Seminole; four grandchildren, Amy Langham, Chris McCoy, Steve Griffin, Brian Griffin; and three great grandchildren, Preston McCoy, Gavin Lang- ham, Grayson Langham.
