Thersie Marie Houck

Graveside funeral services for former Seminole resident Thersie Marie Houck are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Maple Grove Cemetery. Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate. Burial will be under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Houck died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Village Health Care Center, Broken Arrow, at the age of 95. She was born May 29, 1909, in Kingston, Ark., to John David and Sarah (Bowen) Grigg. She was married to Albert L. Houck, who died May 10, 1977. She lived in Seminole for 50 years. She worked for Seminole Hospital for 20 years and then as a caregiver until her retirement. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthews Methodist Church, Tulsa. Houck had lived at Village Health Care Center for the past three years. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Shelton, Broken Arrow; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was the last survivor of 10 children and was also preceded in death by her parents and one infant son.

Kyesha Sariah Garfield

Funeral services for Kyesha Sariah Kylean Garfield are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas Town Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Famous Cochran will officiate. Burial will be under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home. The child died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at her home at the age of four months. She was born Sept. 15, 2004, in Ada to Adolph L. Garfield and Jessica Harrison. Survivors include her parents, of the home; three brothers, Kyle Severs, Wewoka, Monterio and De’Angelo Garfield, both of McAlester; four sisters, Kisha Harris, Ada, Iesha Harrison, Falicia and A’riah Garfield, all of Wewoka; grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. H.P. Bradshaw and Willie and Wanda Bruner of Wewoka, and Anold Zollicoffer, Oklahoma City.

Virginia Mae ‘Ginny’ Byers

Funeral services for former Seminole resident Virginia Mae “Ginny” Byers are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel. Services are to be directed by Bill Eisenhour. Interment is set to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Northeast Funeral Home of Oklahoma City. Byers died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at the age of 69. She was born Feb. 11, 1935, to Dutch and Anna Sparks in Seminole. A member of the Baptist church and Eastern Star, Byers was self-employed in the mobile home rental business. She also loved crafts and people. Byers was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of over 40 years, Louie Byers. She is survived by one son, Dutch Byers and his wife, Karen; one daughter, Tina Kaasc and husband, Darryl; grandchildren, Crystal, Stephanie, Heather, Derek Byers, Wesley, Whitney Fowler; great-grandchild, Ethan; two sisters, Juanita Garaman and Wilma Wainner and many special friends.

Patricia ‘Pat’ Church

A memorial service for longtime Seminole resident Patricia “Pat” Church are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole. Rev. Gary Pollard is set to officiate the service. Church died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Seminole Medical Center, at the age of 74. She was born June 6, 1930, to Fred Wensauer and Madge (McDaniel Wensauer), in Shamrock. She married Billie Eugene “Bill” Church on May 5, 1997, in Okemah. Church was a homemaker, and had worked for several years at Seminole’s public library, retiring in the 1980s. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Eddie Wensauer; and sister, Jean Keener. Church is survived by one son, Bill Northcutt, Davenport; three daughters: Sandy Schott, Wichita Falls, Texas, Cathy Robison, Omaha, Texas, and Penny Crelia, Seminole; one brother, Jack Wensauer, Rocksborrow, N.C.; one sister, Rose Marie Keener, Bowlegs; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Donations may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Heart or Lung Research, 825 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City, 73104-5097, as requested by the family.

Charley Flannery

A chapel service is scheduled for former longtime Seminole resident Charley R. Flannery at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment is to follow services at Little Cemetery with Darell Brown officiating. Flannery, 86, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 at Heritage Hills Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 29, 1918 in Savanna to Patrick and Josie May (Cross) Flannery. He married Alma Brown on July 7, 1942 in Poteau. Flannery was a self-employed boot maker and shoe –repairman for many years in Midland, Texas and Seminole. Flannery was a sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He was a wireman with the 136th Infantry, 33rd Division. During his military experience he was influential in the drive for Baguio in Northern Luzon. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two battle stars, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a battle star for the Luzon Campaign. Flannery was a member of the Trinity Baptist church. His parents and sister, Reba Black, preceded him in death. Surviving him are: his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Judy Flannery of Seminole; one daughter and son-in-law, Sernanda and David Anderson of Arpelar, Okla.; and one sister, Margie McGuire of Clarkston, Wash. In addition he has eight grandchildren, Michael Flannery, Micki Yarbrough, William Anderson, Serna Anderson, Dana Thompson, Laura Page, Leslie Prigge and Jacque Orndorf; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren surviving him.

LeRoy Lancaster

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident LeRoy Lancaster are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Forest Weist of Twin Oaks Baptist Church officiating. Colt Kreeger, nephew of the deceased will provide the eulogy and burial will follow services at Little Cemetery. Lancaster, 66, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005 at Midwest City Regional Hospital. He was born to E.L. Lancaster and Marie (Moutaw) Morton on April 24, 1938 in Duncan. He attended Twin Oak and Varnum Schools and he served in the United States Air Force for five years. Lancaster worked in the oilfield for BJ Hughes before retiring. He was a member of the Twin Oaks Baptist Church for over 22 years. His parents and one stepson, Ricky McDonald preceded him in death. Surviving him are his wife Geraldine of the home; three daughters, Debra Barnes of Carl Junction, Mo., Donna Bishop of Mulberry, Ark. and Sandy Boughton of Ft. Smith, Ark.; one stepson, Terry McDonald of Greenly, Colo.; one brother, Jerry Don Lancaster and a sister, LaVonne Ware, both of Seminole and one step brother, Bob Morton of Carl Junction, Mo. In addition, he has six grandchildren; a very dear friend, John Lovelady; and a very special little boy, Benjaman Robbins surviving him. Pallbearers for the services will be nephews, Jeff Dean, Kyle Kreeger, Scott and Brad Lancaster, and Justin and Loren Vaughan. Honorary bearers will be Sonny Bailey, Eric Vaughan, Shane Sorrells, Danny Kreeger, Steve Dean, Barry Lancaster, John Lovelady, Jim Barnes, Junior Evans and the men of Twin Oak Baptist Church.

Jimmy Harrison

Funeral services for former Wewokan James Lee “Jimmy” Harrison were held Sunday in Pendleton, Ore. A memorial service is being planned later at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka. Harrison died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, in Pendleton. He was born Dec. 19, 1947, in Holdenville to Eugene and Susie Harrison. He attended Compton Elementary School in Wewoka before moving to Oregon. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother, Susie Harrison of Wewoka; brothers Raymond Harrison, Portland, Ore., Rick Harrison, Central Point, Ore., and John Paul Harrison, Dundee, Ore.; sisters Mary Gantt, Wewoka, Carol Schaff, St. Helens, Ore., and Peggy Smith, Holdenville.

William Bradley Sr.

Memorial services for Seminole resident William Lee Bradley Sr. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Pentecostal Holiness Church in Holdenville. Interment is to follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home. Bradley, 85, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005 at his home in Holdenville. He was born Dec. 29, 1919 in Henryetta to William and Beaulah "Love" Bradley. He was raised in the Seminole County area and had attended Butner Schools. Bradley married Constance Jean Stove in March of 1987 in Marietta. Bradley worked most of his life as a self-employed mechanic. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving him is his wife of the home; children, William Bradley Jr. of Seminole, Patricia Ann McCormick of Ponca City, Tammy Justice of Wewoka, Robert Bradley of Seminole and Claude Bradley of Wewoka; sister Lennie McMichaels of Holdenville and six grandchildren.

Melva Davis

Funeral services for lifetime Konawa resident Melva Jean Davis were held today at 11 a.m. in the Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home chapel with Tom Amos officiating. Interment followed the services at Wolf Cemetery. Davis, 73, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 in a nursing home in Norman. She was born Jan. 7, 1932 in Texas to Felix Nelie and Edna A. (Wilson) Ross. She was a cook for 20 years and a LPN for 10 years. Davis was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Her parents, and one son, Edward Lee Allison preceded her in death. Three sons, James Alan Allison of Norman, Larry Ray Allison of Noble and Frank Mills Allison of Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive her. Acting as pallbearers for the service were Ray Roskoph, Gary Cloud, Mark Stoup, Brandon stoup, Robert Roulston, Mark Reeves and David Branscum.

Charles ‘Gene’ Bussey

Graveside services for longtime Maud resident Charles “Gene” Bussey are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cummings Cemetery in Maud with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. The services are under the direction of Knight- Swearingen Funeral Home Bussey, 60, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at McAlester Hospital. He was born March 23, 1944 in Maud to W. Frank and Anna Lucille (Work) Bussey He married Linda Jenelle Houck in Colorado on Oct. 10, 1969. Bussey was a retired truck driver for Miller Trucking Company of Stroud, Bussey served in the United States Army from 1963-1964 during the Berlin Airlift. He was a member of the American Legion and of the Oddfellows in Maud. His parents, wife (April 25, 2001) and one brother Jimmy Bussey (July 3, 1989) all preceded him in death. Surviving him are three sons, Terry Shawn Bussey of New Port, Ark., Zach Bussey of Chandler and Timmothy Harper of Lexington; three daughters, Tamara Harper of Shawnee, Michelle Hamilton of Nevada and Cathy Bussey of Florida; two brothers, David Bussey of Seminole and Mike Bussey of Maud; three sisters, Erma Taff and Sandie Joplin both of Maud and Nora “Sister” Brenner of Kalispell, Mont. and numerous grandchildren. Casket bearers for the services will be Mike Bussey, David Bussey, Ronnie Stackhouse, Davy Bussey, Aaron Russell and Jason Bussey.

Amos Chupco

Funeral services for lifetime Seminole County resident Amos Thomas Chupco are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hilltop Presbyterian Church in Wewoka with Elder Kelly Tiger and Jerry Baker officiating. Wake services will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the church and interment will follow services at Achena Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Chupco, 80, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 at Integris Baptist Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1924 in Wewoka to James and Bettie (Thomas) Chupco. He married Lucille Tiger on Oct. 10, 1950 in Ft. Brag, N.C. and he has lived his whole life in Seminole County except for the time he served in the military. Chupco served in the United States Army and retired Sept. 1, 1965. He served for 20 years with the Airborne Division, including the 82nd Airborne, 101st Airborne, 187 Regimental Combat and 12 air assaults. He was also a master parachutist, during which time he has two children that were army brats. Following his retirement from the army he retired from General Motors as an inspector in 1991, then he worked at the Seminole Wrangler plant in the maintenance department for four years. His parents; one son, James Chupco Sr. (Jan. 31, 2003); one brother, James Chupco Jr.; two sisters, Nancy Franks and Rachel Walker, all preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife of the home; one daughter, Phyllis Platta of Mescalero, N.M.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pall bearers for the service will be Roger Franks, Ronnie Franks, Sandy Walker, Albert Platta Sr., Joel Luna Jr. and Michael Fish. Acting as honorary bearers will be Kenneth Taroyle, Charles Chupco, Kenna Harjo and Steve Ruedy.

Irma Cook

A memorial service for former Seminole resident, Irma "Granny" Cook was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Cook, age 70 of Washington, Okla., died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005 at the Purcell Municipal Hospital. She was born Nov. 14, 1934 in Snomac, Okla., near Wolf, as the fifth of six children born to Louis Roscoe Barton and Laura Sampson Barton. Cook was raised in the country and attended school in Wolf. She started her family at a young age and spent her younger years as a housewife and mother. After her children were older, she worked 10 years for Seminole Jr. College in the snack bar before retiring in 1996. She enjoyed working in the snack bar and getting to know the students and listening to their stories. Her parents; husband, Chris Paul Cook; sister, Donna Rose and brother, Glenn Barton preceded her in death. Surviving is one son, Jack Schornick of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; three daughters, Jeannie McCaskill of Washington, Toni Rawls and Brandy Gregg, both of St. Louis, Okla.; three sisters, Phyllis Anderson of Delaware, Barbara MacMahon and Loneva Stach, both of Seminole; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Sereda 'Ruth' Richardson

Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident, Sereda "Ruth" Richardson, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Rick Maldron, Ruth's brother, and Randy Ethridge, Ruth's brother-in-law are to officiate. Interment is to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Richardson, 54, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born Jan. 30, 1951 in Casa Grande, Ariz. to George Lee Madron and Della Catherine (Cross) Madron. Ruth married Jim Richardson on Nov. 9, 1982 in Wewoka and worked at the Seminole Wrangler Plant until her retirement in 1993. She has been a Seminole County resident for the past 26 years. Her father and one brother, Thurman Lewayne Madron, preceded her in death. Surviving is her mother, Della Catherine Sossman of Wewoka; husband Jim of the home; one son, Robert Anthony Richardson of Seminole; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dana Dalynn and Mark Turner of Fayetteville, Ark., Sereda Dawn Smart and Kimberly Renee' and Thomas Yerby, all of Seminole. In addition, two brothers, George Ancel Madron of Savannah, Ga. and Ricky Glenn Madron of Wewoka; three sisters, Estel Rosette Callum of McAlester, Frances Kay Ethridge of Stroud and Vicky Lynn Heffley of McAlester; seven grandchildren, Miranda Gates, Kimberly Gates, Joshua Smart, Daryck Smart, Tye Varner, Alyssa Yerby and Carlie Richardson survive her. Casket bearers are to be Bob Northcott, Frank Cullum, Ben Cullum, Randy Madron, David Lozer and Don Madron. Honorary bearers will be Edsil Cross and Mike Madron. The family wishes to give special thanks to all of the nurses and doctors on 7 West and 901 C.C.U. at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City for their special care.

Kevin Grant II

Graveside services for former Seminole County resident Kevin Leotis Grant II are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at Machpelah Cemetery in Wewoka. Bishop Charlie Gilbert Jr. will be officiating. Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home. Grant, 23, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005 in Oklahoma City. He was born Dec. 17, 1981 in Oklahoma City to Kevin L. Grant and Sherry Stephens Grant. He graduated Butner High School and attended OSU and Oklahoma City Community College. Grant was working for APAC in the Customer Service Department. He was an avid basketball and football player and a member of Ethopian Reforemed Copticf Church of Christ. His paternal grandfather, Richard Carolina Jr. and grandmother Faylese Nelson preceded him in death. Surviving is his fiancée, Dawn Dean of Moore; father, Kevin L. Grant of Atoka; mother, Sherry Grant of Edmond; daughter, Kiara Grant of Moore; brothers, Kaldwell Grant of Moore, Shamir Grant of Oklahoma City and Stephon Grant of Edmond and grandmother, Verdelma Carolina of Edmond.
