Michael Dale Brown, 29, of Poteau, Okla., died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997 in McAlester, Okla. Michael Dale Brown was born on Sept. 26, 1968 in Ft. Smith, Ark. He was the owner and operator of Brown's Warehouse and Farm Supply.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 1997 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Poteau with the Rev. Dell Glen. Interment at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of the home; one daughter, Tiffany Brown of the home; parents, Dale and Wanda Brown of Poteau; one sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Clint Beeson of Heavener; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Geary and Linda Brown of Vian, Okla., Randy and Tracy Brown of Ft. Smith, Robin Brown of Stilwell, Okla.; four nieces; one nephew; other relatives and many loved ones.
Michael was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Poteau.
Services under direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home, Poteau.
Mack W. Medley
Mack W. Medley, 76, of Heavener, Okla., Friday, Dec. 5, 1997 in a Poteau hospital. He was a former resident of Mountain Home, Ark., veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He attended the Independence Baptist Church in Heavener.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 1997 at the Dowden Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Memorial Park in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita; three daughters, Marsha Seaton of Van Buren, Ark., Jane Matthies of North Platte, Neb., Jill Helbling of Baldwinsville, NY; one son, Michael Allen Medley of Gassville, Ark.; two sisters, Dixie Whitaker of Gassville and Drucilla Brewer of North Little Rock, Ark.; two brothers, Neil Medley of Grand Forks, ND and Rex Medley of Springfield, Ill.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Gaylord Lester Winton
Gaylord Lester Winton, 88, resident of Muse, Okla., died Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau, Okla.
He was born Oct. 14, 1909 in Muse, to the late George Sumpter Winton, and the late Nolie Grace Rind Winton. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Winton was in business until his retirement in 1985.
He is survived by his niece, Helen Davis of Poteau; nephew and niece-in-law, Wayne and Sammye Winton of Dierks, Ark.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Nola Hanson Winton in 1983, and a brother, Elbert Winton in 1995.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997 at 11 a.m. at the Rocky Cemetery, with Rev. Denzil Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow. Arrangements under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena, Ark.
Myrtle F. Gilbreath
Myrtle F. Gilbreath, 91, of Poteau, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau. Myrtle F. Gilbreath was born March 5, 1906 in Mansfield, Okla. She was a Homemaker.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997 at the Oakland Pavilion with the Rev. Jim Cook officiating following internment at Oakland Cemetery.
She is survived by her extended family, Jimmy and Carolyn Matlock of Poteau; Donna and Rick Nelson of Heavener; Allen, Ricky Jr., and Cara Nelson of Heavener; Lisa Robles of Van Buren, Ark.; Jeffrey and Stephen Robles of Van Buren; cousins, other friends, and family.
Myrtle Gilbreath was a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Poteau. She lived in and around this area most of her life.

Mary Catherine Hall
Mary Catherine Hall, 62, of Oklahoma City, Okla., died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997 in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Dell City, Okla.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997 at Howe Cemetery under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
She is survived by her companion, Bill Hall of Oklahoma City; son Lewis Wayne Hall of Edmond, Okla.; brother, John Hunt of Moore, Okla.; three grandchildren.
Mary Catherine Hall is preceded in death by a son, Dennis Hall.
George Howze
George Howze, 56, of Broken Bow, Okla., died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997 in his residence. He was a resident of Broken Bow since 1983, veteran of the Korean Conflict, retired Senior Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, and was a Mason.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997 at the Dowden Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Zoe Cemetery in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener.
He is survived by his companion, Lorrane George of Broken Bow; five daughters, Lynn Diane Howze of Durant, Melissa Coleen Hughes of San Francisco, Calif., Cheryl Ann Senn of Fremont, Calif., Dixie Leigh Nunez of Houston, Tex., Sandra Jo Segrest of Dallas, Tex., step-daughter, Barbara Hicks of Broken Bow; one step-son, Jim George of Broken Bow; two sisters, Oletto Vinson of Heavener, Okla. Roghnee Akin of Hodgen, Okla.; three brothers, Earl of Oklahoma City, Leonard of Carson City, Nev., and Curtis of Heavener; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Howard L. McCollom
Howard L. McCollom, 66, of Bokoshe, Okla., died Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997 in a Poteau hospital. He was retired from Bokoshe Public Schools where he was a bus driver and mechanic. member of VFW Post 75 of Bokoshe. He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997 at the Nubbin Ridge Cemetery in Bokoshe under the direction of the Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home; one daughter Lawanna "Judy" McKinney and husband, Stanley of Bokoshe; one son, Howard Lynn McCollom, and wife, Barbara of Wister; one sister, Betty Shockley of Spiro; one brother, Juel McCollom Jr. of Bokoshe; four grandchildren, Stacy Sutherland of Bokoshe, Amanda and Sammie Jo McCollom of Wister, and Stanley McKinney Jr. of Bokoshe; and two great-grandchildren, Cory and Keifer Sutherland of Bokoshe.
Minnie Mae Ray
Minnie Mae Ray, 71 of Texarkana, Tex., died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, at her residence.
Mrs. Ray was born May 2, 1926 in Sulphur, Okla. She was a Homemaker and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Leon Ray of Texarkana; one brother, Wilburn Stone of Ada, Okla.; one sister, Ruth Hoover of El Dorado, Calif.; two grandchildren, Debbie Jordan of Texarkana, and Tony Ray of Fallon, Nev.; three great grandchildren, Lisa and Lance Jordan, and Courtney Ray; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997 in the Texarkana Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harlie Patterson officiating.
Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. at the Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, Okla.
Hazel Dill Lampkin
Hazel Dill Lampkin, 83, of Niland, Calif., died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997 in El Centro Regional Hospital, El Centro, Calif. Hazel Dill Lampkin was born March 14, 1914 in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was a Homemaker.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 1997 at the Maxcey Cemetery in Wister, Okla. with the Rev. Don Taylor officiating.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred and Marcia Lampkin of Wister, Hubert and Leora Lampkin of Ardmore, Okla., daughter-in-law, Leona Lampkin of Ardmore; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Hazel Dill was a California resident for 38 years. She was preceded in death by a son, James Lampkin, her parents, three brothers, Sam Casey, Woodrow Casey, and Elwood Casey, a sister, Edna Smithers, and two grandchildren.

Frances E. Babb
Frances E. Babb, 82, of Poteau, Okla., died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.
Frances E. Babb was born Nov. 10, 1915 in Asbury, Mo. she was a Homemaker.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997 at the Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau following interment at Heavener Memorial Park with the Rev. Phil McGehee officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Noel D. Babb of the home; daughters, Laneal Crawford, Elith Jane Smith, Robbie Paquette, all of Tulsa, and Yvonne Miller of Sapulpa; son, Ian Douglas Babb of Poteau; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Frances E. Babb, 82, passed away Dec. 15, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa after complications from surgery. She was a long time resident of Poteau and a member of the First Baptist Church.
