George Morrow

Funeral services for former Seminole County resident George Washington Morrow, 87, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Okemah with Carl Clay officiating. Burial will take place in Vamoosa Cemetery.

Morrow died Wednesday in an Okemah hospital.

He was born July 16, 1910 in Seminole County to Plaskey Bell Morrow and Dovie (Matlock) Morrow.

Morrow was an oilfield pumper for 68 years and had worked for Portable Drilling Corporation of Tulsa and Waddell Lease Service of Seminole. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Konawa.

He married Lois Baker on June 18, 1932 in Seminole County. She preceded him in death in 1987.

Morrow was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include three daughters, Lillie Williams, Velma, Lois Ann Gormly, Okemah, and Judi Kenneda, Okemah; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

Hershel Mulkey

Funeral services for Hershel Lee Mulkey, 75 were held today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Jimmy Joslin officiating.

Burial was held at Little Cemetery.

Mulkey died Sunday at his home in Shawnee.

He was born Jan. 18, 1922 in Wewoka to Homer Stark and Katie Delilah (Ong) Mulkey. He lived 74 years in Seminole County.

Mulkey retired from the oilfields in 1987.

He married Opal Faye Hollaway April 9, 1956 in Seminole. She preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Arthur, Carl, and Marvin.

Survivors include one son, Randy Mulkey, Shawnee; one daughter, Hershellia Hillier, Wills Point, Texas; one brother, Melvin "Gene" Mulkey, Seminole; one sister, Gladys Owens, Wills Point, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Carl Myatt

Funeral services for lifelong Konawa resident Carl "Chic" Myatt, 81, were held at 2 p.m. today at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Wesley Martin officiated the service.

Burial was at Konawa Cemetery.

Myatt died Sunday at Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City.

He was born March 3, 1916 in Konawa to William T. and Jennie (Akin) Myatt.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the American Legion, and worked as a painter and cook.

He married Betty Jo Irby Sept. 14, 1957 in Oklahoma City. She survives him of the home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Benny Lee, and one sister, Mildred Myatt.

Other survivors include five sons, Edward Myatt, Konawa, James Tillman, Atlanta, Ga., Danny Tillman, Wash., Donald Tillman, Konawa, and Eddie Tillman, Konawa; four daughters, Mildred Poston, Konawa, Shirley Akins, Chickasha, Mary Waldron, Konawa, and Margaret Wise, Norman; two brothers, Cecil Myatt, Canadian, Texas, and Fred Myatt, Huntsville, Ala.; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons, with honorary pallbearers Milton Courtney, Jack Streetman and Danny Khoury.

Lela Myers

AMARILLO, TEXAS - Funeral services for Cromwell resident Lela Cardeen Bryant Myers, 51, were held recently. Burial was held in Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home in Wellington, Texas.

Myers died Sept. 24 in a Tulsa Hospital.

She was born in Groom, Texas, and attended school in Wellington schools. She received her nursing degree in 1978 from Northwest Texas R.N. School and worked in hospitals in Okemah and Wewoka as well as other Texas hospitals.

She married Gene Myers in 1964 at Clarendon.

Survivors include her husband of Cromwell; five sons, Carl Myers, Holdenville, Clifford Myers and Clifton Myers, both of Cromwell, Craig Myers, Seminole and Henry Wilson, Wewoka; two daughters, Kathy Wilson, Wewoka and Kim Wilson, Oklahoma City; one brother, Johnny Bryant, Tampa Fla.; three sisters, Decie May Pool, McLean, Texas, and Annie Nation and Edna Benton, both of Wellington; and several grandchildren.

William Narcomey III

Graveside services for William Emerson Narcomey III, 16, were held Monday at Hyachea Family Cemetery near Bowlegs under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Narcomey died Sept. 2 in Farmington, Utah as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born Aug. 7, 1981 in St. Paul, Minn. to William Narcomey Jr. and Bridgette Bailey.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Audrey Narcomey, of the home; one sister, Valencia Hanna Narcomey; one stepbrother, John Prentice; one grandfather, William Narcomey Sr., Utah; one grandmother, Corinee Bailey, Menominee Reservation, Wis.; and Seminole County relatives.

Ralph Nichols

BROKEN ARROW - Funeral services for Ralph W. Nichols, father of Wewoka resident Dale Nichols, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Nick Garland officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.

Nichols, 77, died Monday at Broken Arrow Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 7, 1919 at Coweta to Ira O. and Maude A. (Sewell) Nichols. He was a 1937 graduate of Coweta High School and a graduate of Tulsa Business College.

He was a veteran, having obtained to rank of sergeant in the United States Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Nichols married Mary Louise Roberts on Feb. 6, 1943 in Tulsa. They moved to Broken Arrow in 1946 from Coweta.

He was the owner and operator of Broken Arrow Tractor and Implement from 1955 to 1978.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Jack and one sister, Irma Shaw.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Dale Nichols, Wewoka and Mark Nichols, Tulsa; two sisters, Grace Southern and Alma Lee Phillips, both of Coweta; one brother, Gene Nichols, Downey, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

At the family’s request, memorials can be made to Parkinson Association, 3220 S. Peoria, Tulsa, Okla., 74105.

Clara R. Nicholson

WEWOKA ¾ Funeral services for long time resident Clara R. Nicholson, 95, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Wewoka Church of Christ.

She died Monday in the Holdenville General Hospital. Burial will be in the Oak Wood Cemetery under the direction of the Stout Funeral Home.

Nicholson was born in Avoca, Indian Territory on Feb. 10, 1902 to James T. and Lelia M. (Mauldin) Ramage. She was the seventh of eight children.

She had been a riveter with Douglas Aircraft during World War II and later worked for Lillian Russell.

She was very active in the Church of Christ.

Nicholson married William Nicholson Sr. in 1922. He preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Bill Nicholson, Jr., five brothers, two sisters and two grandsons.

Survivors include daughters, Eileen Pilz, Tulsa, and Mary Thomas, Wewoka.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

The family has requested that any memorials be made to The Search Program, P.O. Box 371, Edmond, OK 73083-0371.

Tressie Nix

Graveside services for Tressie Virginia Nix, 81, are scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Dr. Kelvin Mosely will officiate the services.

Nix died Thursday at Seminole Municipal Hospital.

She was born Aug. 30, 1916 in Wheeling, West Virginia, to Roy and Florence (Carpenter) Starcher.

A homemaker, Nix was a member of First Baptist Church.

She married Grady Nix, who preceded her in death in 1981.

Nix is also preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Stewart, Seminole; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Robbie Jean Oliver

Funeral services for Robbie Jean Oliver, 65 are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday and Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee.

Oliver died Monday in Dallas, Texas.

She was born April 8, 1932 in Sallisaw to Robert and Myrtle Estep. She was reared in Sallisaw and Cherokee County, and lived in Pauls Valley and Muskogee before moving to Earlsboro in 1975.

Oliver worked as a bookkeeper at the Ramada Inn in Seminole for several years. She worked as the manager at Pizza Hut in Tecumseh for 11 years before transferring to Pizza Hut in Seminole three years ago.

She was an active member of the Business and Professional Women Chapters in Tecumseh and Seminole, and also the Chamber of Commerce in both towns. Other memberships include Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the Rotary Club, both of Seminole, and The American Legion Auxiliary in Tecumseh.

She married Denton Oliver on Oct. 16, 1970 in Fort Gibson. He survives her of the home.

Oliver is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Pauline Drake and Lucille Kirk; and two brothers, Jack Estep and Clifton Estep.

Other survivors include one daughter, Joy Alsip, Dallas, Texas; two sisters, JoAnn Beaver, Hulbert and Wanda Rinehart, Fort Gibson; three brothers, Don Estep, Anchorage, Alaska, Pete Estep, Eagle River, Alaska and Elmer Estep, Porter; and one grandson.
