Edith Jackson

MAUD - Funeral services for Maud resident Edith Evelyn Jackson, 81, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church.

Rev. John Watts and Rev. Jim Kirkendall will officiate the service. Burial will take place at Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.

Jackson died Friday at Mission Hill Hospital, Shawnee.

She was born July 15, 1916 in Maud to Richard B. and Mae (Stacy) Raper.

Jackson was a member of First Baptist Church in Maud.

She married John Clifford Jackson on Dec. 26, 1941 in Maud. He preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1991.

Jackson was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Andy and Orvil Raper; one sister, Pauline McKown; one grandson, Tyge Jackson, and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Garrett.

Survivors include four sons, Keith Jackson, Elmore City, Dickie J. Jackson, Little Axe, Tony Jackson, Depew, and Tom Jackson, Maud; one daughter, Sharron K. Birks, Shawnee; two sisters, Veral Acree, Maud, and Dixie White, Summerfield, Texas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Casketbearers will be Bart Jackson, Brian Jackson, Scott Jackson, Todd Jackson, Brian Garrett, Lance Bloomer and Dean Harper.

Marion Jones

Funeral services for Marion Monroe Jones are scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Sasakwa with Rev. B.W. Goodson officiating.

Burial is planned at the Vamoosa Cemetery.

Jones died Saturday at his home in Sasakwa at the age of 55.

He was born in Holdenville on April 7, 1942 to C.M. and Adeline Walls (Abraham) Jones.

Jones was married to Elizabeth Ann Cleveland on Nov. 1, 1963.

He was employed as a production superintendent for the Hunt Oil Company.

Jones was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1957 until 1961.

He lived in Sasakwa most of his life and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sasakwa and the Konawa Masonic Lodge.

Jones is survived by his wife of the home; a son Mike Jones of Sasakwa; four brothers, Earl Jones of Holdenville, Jack Jones of Okmulgee, Paul Jones of Sasakwa, and Johnny Abraham of Corsican, Texas; five sisters, Joyce Harris and Donna Morrell both of Holdenville, Angela Moya of Coriscana, Texas, Glenda Emerson of Blackwell and Linda Davis of Irving, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Pall bearers named are Shane Batey, Tony Keefer, Scott Johnson, Roger Streetman and Mike A. Jones.

Thyra Mae "Tommie" Jones

Funeral services for Seminole resident Thyra Mae "Tommie" Jones, 75, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Craig Fairall will officiate. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Jones died Wednesday at Seminole Municipal Hospital.

She was born in Sallisaw on Feb. 7, 1922 to Joe Allison Knowles and Mamie (Adair) Knowles. She moved to Seminole in 1927.

On Aug, 28, 1946 she married Leslie Raymond Jones in Seminole; he survives her of the home.

For 47 years, Jones was co-owner of Jones Jewelry. She previously worked for Sinclair & Humble Oil.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a tribal member of the Cherokee Nation.

Jones was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Earl L. Knowles and Joe A. Knowles Jr.

Other survivors include niece and nephews, Mike and Diana Knowles, and Jim and Sharon Knowles, all of Seminole, and Joe and Bonnie Knowles, Aurora, Colo., and Bill and Lyn Knowles, Irving, Tex.

Great nieces and nephews, Heather, Jeff, Bill, Greg & Reagan Knowles, Scott and Karen Knowles, Leanne and Zaz Helmerich and grand niece Stephanie Knowles.

Casket bearers will be Jeff Knowles, Bill Knowles, Greg Knowles, Cliff Pearson, Larry Kennedy, Regan Knowles and Scott Knowles.

Vickie Ann Keck

Funeral services for Vickie Ann Keck, 64, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Quail Springs Church of Christ in Oklahoma City.

Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.

Keck was born January 4, 1933 to Tom and Delphia Green in Dierks, Ark.

She was married to Darvin Keck on June 9, 1951.

She was a member of the Quail Springs Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School, and she was involved in the Oklahoma Christian Women’s Association.

Survivors include her husband Darvin, of the home; two daughters, Vickie Gillman of Weatherford, Tex. and Sherry Carlson of Manhattan, Kan.; one son, David Keck of Seminole, and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 711 Stanton L. Young Blvd., Oklahoma City, Okla., 73104.

Guy Kinslow

Funeral services for Seminole County resident, Guy Monroe Kinslow, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.

Rev. James Wigington will officiate. Burial will be in the Little Cemetery.

He died Wednesday at the Seminole Municipal Hospital.

Kinslow was born March 31, 1916 in Castle, Okla. to Thomas Calvin Kinslow and Florence Myrtle (McGee) Kinslow.

He married Donnie Leon Lamm on July 8, 1936; she survives him of the home.

Kinslow retired from Pure Oil after 27 years service in 1969. He served in the US Army during World War II.

Other survivors include two sons, Kenneth Kinslow and Klaus Kinslow both of Cromwell; three daughters, Barbara Yeubanks, Cromwell, Ardith Dillard, Wichita, Kan., Hughlene Gillespie, Chase, Kan.; three brothers, Dale Kinslow, Shawnee, Marvin Kinslow, Terrell, Tex., Matt Kinslow, Seminole; two sisters, Audry Madole and Juanita Collier both of Okemah; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Knight

Funeral services for Bonnie Knight, 100, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Allen Wood will officiate the services. Burial will take place at Little Cemetery.

Knight died Wednesday at Seminole Estates Nursing Home.

She was born July 11, 1897, near Ardmore, I.T., to M.F. and Emily (Wheelock) Oswalt.

Knight had been a resident of Seminole since 1926. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

She married S. K. Knight on March 3, 1912, in Grapevine, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1971.

Also preceding her death was her daughter, Leone Kimbel.

Survivors include one granddaughter, Vickie Harjo, Seminole; four great-grandchildren, Krista Jones, Seminole, Mark Jones, Tulsa, and Candi and Tammy Jones, both of Seminole; and one great-great-grandson, Patrick Allen Jones, Seminole

Casket bearers are Beau Lindsey, Kenon Jones, Culv Jones, Bill West, Richard Jones, and Mark Jones.

Betty Lale

Betty June Lale (Mrs. Newton Lale Jr.) passed away Nov. 29, 1997 in Austin Texas. Betty was born in Webb City (Osage County) Oklahoma on June 23, 1926, as the third child to Mora and Murray Neilson.

The family moved several times during her youth when her father’s work in the oilfield required it.

In 1937, the family moved to a Cities Service Oil Camp south of Wewoka. From there Betty completed her education, graduating in the class of 1944 from Wewoka High School.

Shortly after high school, she married and moved to California. This marriage produced two children, Kenny Lee and Judy.

Returning to Seminole with two children to support, Lale spent a number of years working for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, rising to the evening chief operators position.

During 1958, she left the workforce to marry Newton, and became a homemaker, wife and mother to their three children, while in south Texas.

Having found her life’s calling, her greatest joys became her family and friends, of which she had many, never seeing a stranger.

Lale saw much of south Texas as the wife of a petroleum engineer working for Halliburton Services.

She enjoyed each location for its variety of people, experiences and opportunity to be of service.

She is survived by her husband, Newton, one brother, F. H. Neilson, Midwest City; three children, Kenny Lee Lale, San Marcos, Texas, Judy N. Pahany, Austin, Texas, and Newton Lale III, Osage, Ark.

Her family also includes three granddaughters, Gretchen Hansen, Heather Pahany and Jessa Lee Lale; three nieces and one nephew.

Lale will be laid to rest at a private family memorial service in Oklahoma.

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.
