Curtis Lindsey

KONAWA - Funeral services for Curtis Wayne Lindsey, 42, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Spring Church.

Rev. George Jesse will officiate the service, assisted by Noah Burgess. Burial will be at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Wake services are scheduled for today from 4-7 p.m.

Lindsey died Wednesday.

He was born March 27, 1955 in Oklahoma City to Evelyne Burgess and Phillip Lindsey.

Lindsey worked as a maintenance man.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Shae Deere.

Survivors include one daughter, Reanna Lindsey; his mother; one brother, Josh Puntka; and six sisters, Phyllis Puntka, Nancy Warden, Janice Norcott, Carmelita Puntka, Samantha Elliott, and Josette Stowe.

Pallbearers will include Bobby Wayne Robinson, Frank Burgess, Richie Harjo, James Fixico, Darby Harjo, and Thomas Coon.

Honorary pallbearers include Gerald Harjo, Claude Burgess, Ronnie Burgess, Charles Burgess, and Jack Dean Tiger.

Alma Logan

Funeral services for Alma Logan, 90, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Willie D. Shannon, Sr. will officiate, and burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole.

Logan died Saturday at Pioneer Nursing Home.

She was born December 16, 1907 in Oktaha to Curl Wright and Lillie Walker.

She came from Oktaha to Seminole in 1935, and she lived here as a homemaker since that time.

She was married to Leslie Logan, and he preceded her in death in 1976.

Logan was a longtime member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Seminole.

Survivors include one daughter, Leslie M. Battle of Seminole; one stepdaughter, Christine Logan of Kansas City; one brother, Leo Wright of Seminole, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be Jimmie Stillwell, Robert Foxx, Waldo Payne, Reginald Wright, and Earnest Stillwell.

Harold ‘Buster’ Long

Funeral services for Harold Dean Long are scheduled for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Stout Chapel in Wewoka with Rev. John Hutchison and Tom Azlin officiating.

Burial is planned at Greenleaf Indian Church Cemetery in Castle.

Long died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 62.

He was born in Medora, Kan. on Oct. 21, 1936 to Charles B. and Zuma Catherine (Weatherly) Long.

Long was married to Kiddie Ruth Robison who preceded him in death on April 10, 1984.

He was employed as a truck driver and oil field worker until his retirement in 1992.

Long spent most of his life in the Wewoka and Paden areas.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, four brothers and a grandson.

Long is survived by eight children, Janice Palermo of Kansas City, Kan., Harold Dean Long Jr. of La Cygne, Kan., Deana Azlin and Laurie Wright both of Wewoka, Kennith Long of Channel View, Texas, Gary Long and Chuck Long of Wichita, Kan. and Lilly Montague of Parker, Colo.; three brothers Lloyd Long of Salt and Sea Beach, Calif., David Long of Purdy, Mo. and Errol Long or Aurora, Mo.

Other survivors include special friend Anna Hayes of Wewoka, 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Pall bearers named are Tom Azlin, Shane Azlin, Cecil Degge, Chris Heinzig, Kent Roulston, and Rusty Smith. Honorary Pall Bearer is Jim Azlin.

Thurman ‘Joe’ Lucas

Funeral services for Thurman Eugene "Joe" Lucas, 67, brother of Seminole resident Archie Lucas, are set for Sunday at 2 p.m.

Services for the Oklahoma City resident will be at the Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Holdenville.

Burial will be in the Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Funeral Home.

Lucas died Thursday at his home in Oklahoma City.

He was born in Holdenville on Nov. 27, 1930 to Bernice (Baxley) Lucas and Thurman Lucas.

Lucas was reared in the Spaulding community and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1948.

He lived in the Oklahoma City area most of his life and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include Joyce, his wife of 13, one brother, Archie Lucas, Seminole, eight daughters, Jeannie Oliver, Ray Lynn Lucas and Shantel Rowell, all of Oklahoma City, Reta McCarty, El Reno, Connie Scarbrough, Sherman, Texas, Terri Workman, Arpelar, Rhonda Sipes, Crowder, Kelly Walker, Crescent; two sons, Bret Towne, Chickasha and Bart Towne, Stillwater, 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Hoyle Lyon

SASAKWA - Funeral services for Hoyle Ray Lyon, 60, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Sasakwa.

Rev. B.W. Goodson, Rev. George Jesse and Rev. Wesley Martin will officiate the service.

Lyon died Monday at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada.

He was born March 10, 1937 to Noal and Estelle Lyon, and raised in Sasakwa.

Lyon was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a City Councilman for many years. He was also a member of the Sasakwa Saddle Club, Boy Scouts and was an officer for the Sasakwa Alumni for 13 years.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Duane and Jimmie.

Survivors include his mother; his wife, Anita Harjo Lyon, of the home; one daughter, Connie LaNell, Pittsburg, Texas; one son, Bryan Ray Lyon, Ada; and four grandchildren.

Pall bearers include Tony Womack, Tommy Dale Harris, Calvin Neely, Billy Leftwich, Sammy Harjo, and James Norman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Chambers, Sid Walton, Buddy Ray Womack, Dempsey Roulston, Billy Wyatt, and Frank Carpenter.

James McClain

KONAWA - Funeral services for lifelong Konawa resident James Monroe McClain, 100, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Assembly of God.

Rev. Arvil Wayne Knight will officiate the ceremony, assisted by Rev. Mitchell Williams. Burial will be at Konawa Cemetery.

McClain died Friday at Oklahoma City.

He was born Sept. 2, 1897, in Arkansas to Lou Phelps and James Henry McClain.

McClain was a farmer and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

He married Mary Earsie Fink Dec. 21, 1918 in Konawa. She preceded him in death July 11, 1987.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Junior McClain, in 1930; four sisters, and four brothers.

Survivors include four daughters, Estelle Stephenson, Bakersfield, Calif., Reva Taylor, Konawa, Jean Norman, Bakersfield, Calif., and Virginia Welcher, Ada; two sons, Leon McClain, Konawa, and Hershel McClain, Ada; one half-brother, Austin Kellet, Bakersfield, Calif.,; one sister, 19 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

WEWOKA - Funeral services for Lucille Meigs, 87, are pending with Myers Mortuary.

She died Monday.

Lillie Miller

Funeral services for Lillie Eulene (Hok’te) Miller, 51, are scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bird Creek Baptist Church, Sasakwa.

Rev. Bryant Jesse and Rev. George Jesse will officiate the service. Burial will be at Factor Cemetery in Sasakwa.

Miller died Friday in her Sasakwa home.

She was born July 29, 1946 in Konawa to Isam Bowlegs and ?Eula Mae Harjo. She graduated from Capital Hill Senior High in 1963.

Miller was preceded in death by her father in 1995, and one daughter, Diedre Lene Postoak, in 1968.

Survivors include her mother, two sons, Dexter Postoak, Weleetka, and Pare L. Dolph, Shawnee; one brother, Johnny Bowlegs, Seminole; three sisters, Bessie Mae Bowlegs, Sasakwa, Laura Lee Osborne, Elmore City, and Cheri Deason, Broken Arrow; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Lee Cloud, Mike Morris, Leo Cloud, Bobby Osborne, Cleo Cloud, and George Postoak.

Honorary pallbearers include Fred McGirt, James Fish, Robert Foster, Dennis Factor and Robert Anderson.
