Funeral services for Konawa resident Frankie Earl "Buck" Burgess, 47, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at High Springs Indian Church.
Rev. Dorsey Nero and Rev. Bill Hobla will conduct the services.
Night services are set for 6-8 p.m. tonight at Pickard Funeral Chapel, and 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Burial will follow the Thursday service at Vamoosa Cemetery.
Burgess died on Sunday Nov. 14, 1999 in Oklahoma City.
He was born on June 26, 1952 in Konawa to Juanita and Anderson Burgess.
Burgess was a Konawa resident for most of his life and he worked in carpentry and maintenance.
He served in the Army during Desert Storm and was a member of VFW Post 11194.
Burgess was a member of High Spring Church.
He was married to Mary Ann Burgess in Wewoka on March 11, 1988; she survives him of the home.
He was preceded in death by his father and one infant sister.
Burgess is also survived by his mother; three brothers, Sonny Burgess, Leo Burgess and Amon Burgess of Konawa; two stepsons; one stepdaughter; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are listed as Alan Foster, Herman Foster, Adam Foster, Bill Foster and Edward Factor.
Honorary pallbearers and flag folders will be from VFW Post 11194.
Hiram ‘Sarg’ L. Burgess
MAUD - Graveside funeral services for Hiram "Sarg" L. Burgess, 80, a Maud area resident, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Tecumseh Mission Cemetery.
Rev. Jim Kirkendall will officiate, with burial under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.
Burgess died Thursday at his home at Harjo.
He was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Roanoke, Ala. He served in the US Air Force during World War II and the Korean War.
Burgess was retired from the military and air craft maintenance at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City.
He was a member of the Earlsboro First Baptist Church and Tecumseh American Legion.
He married Mamie Gertrude "Gertie" Swarb on March 25, 1974, in Hazel Green, Ala. She died Aug. 24, 1997.
Survivors include his son, Dennis Burgess, Atlanta; two daughters, Frances Morman, LaGrange, Ga., and Sandra Umberandt, Toccoa, Ga.; three stepsons, Eston Swarb, McLoud, Harold Swarb, Maud, and Ken Swarb, Monahans, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Perry Burleson
Graveside services for former Seminole County resident, Perry Burleson, 82, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Little Cemetery.
Rev. Carl B. Whitfield will officiate at the services. Interment is under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
A resident of Senath, Mo., Burleson died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999 at Paragould Hospital in Paragould, Ark.
He was born March 7, 1917 in Depew to James Victory Burleson and Sarah Jane (Wilson) Burleson.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired Civil Service employee.
Survivors include two sister, Margaret Hon, Truman, Ark. and Pearl Irene Hopkin, LeMassa, N.Mex.
Walter Burleson Sr.
Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident Walter Preston Burleson Sr., 95, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Carl Whitfield will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.
Burleson died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999 at Holdenville Hospital.
He was born June 30, 1904 in Hamilton, Ala., to Bark and Cora (Braswell) Burleson.
Burleson had lived in Seminole County for more than 80 years, moving here from Alabama.
A pumper for Midcontinent and Sun Oil companies for 38 years, he retired in 1969.
Burleson belonged to the Church of Christ in Wewoka.
He married Gladys (Beaver) Burleson in 1972 in Seminole County. She survives him of the home.
Burleson was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruby Ora (Boatman) Burleson on Jan. 27, 1972; and two daughters, Euala May Sawyer in June, 1999 and Earnestine Gentry on July 4, 1996.
Other survivors include two sons, Walter J. Burleson, Drumright and J.W. "Dub" Burleson, Sherman, Texas; three daughters, Reba Harris, San Angelo, Texas, Imogene Nelson, Ada and Nona Sue Venegas, Bryan, Texas; three stepchildren, Wilma Smart, Wewoka, Vernon Beaver, Oklahoma City, and Albert Beaver, Wewoka; one brother, Virgil Burleson, Wewoka; one sister, Euala Hester, Louisville, Ken.; 21 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren.
Fern Burns
Funeral services for Bowlegs resident Fern (Walker) Burns, 78, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stout Funeral Home Chapel.
Bro. Art Coffee will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Ong Cemetery.
Burns died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999.
She was born Oct. 25, 1921 in Maud to Body and Gussie Jones Walker.
Raised in Bowlegs, Burns was a graduate of Bowlegs High School before moving to Borger, Texas, where she was employed as a store clerk.
After retiring in 1982, Burns returned to Bowlegs, where she lived at the time of her death.
She married W.K. Burns on July 26, 1938 in Seminole. He preceded her in death.
Burns was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Don Henry Burns; one daughter, Gloria Fern Murry, two brothers, Don Walker and James Walker; four sisters, Pauline Arthur, Joann Smith and two infant sisters; and one grandson.
Survivors include two sons, William L. Burns, Konawa and Jerry L. Burns, Seminole; one daughter, Joyce Ann Brooks, Bowlegs; one sister, Virginia Waug, Ft. Collins, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are listed as grandsons.
Ruby Burton
Funeral services for long-time Seminole County resident Ruby Lee Hale Burton, 85, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Stout Chapel in Wewoka.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.
Burton died Thursday, July 8, 1999 at Holdenville General Hospital.
She was born Oct. 16, 1914 in Hazel to Luther Hale and Janie Lee (Hayes) Hale.
She was raised in Hazel and attended Butner Schools.
In 1932, she married B. Martin in Hughes County; he preceded her in death.
In 1964, she married George Burton at Shawnee; he survives her of the home.
Burton worked for 15 years as a cook for many cafes in the Seminole County area.
She retired in 1968 and moved to Wynnewood, but returned to Seminole County in 1972.
Burton was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, one daughter, Faye Jewell Martin, one grandson, Jimmy Murray, two brothers, Marvin Hale and Lonnie Hale, and one sister, Idella Gains.
Other survivors include two sons, Leonard "JD" Martin and Alvie Martin, both of Wewoka, three daughters, Ella Mae Murray and Juanita Mathews, both of Wewoka and Vera McDonald, Shawnee.
Other survivors include four brothers, Eugene Hale, Elmore City, Willie Hale, Sallisaw, J.R. Hale, Seminole and Bobby Hale, Wewoka; two sisters Thelma Cox, Pixley and Mary McMullins, Wewoka; 20 grand children, 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Burton’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers and her great grandsons will serve as honorary bearers.
Rex McDonald Bush
Funeral services are set for Seminole resident Rex McDonald Bush, 80, at 2 p.m. Monday at the Seminole Elk’s Lodge.
The services will be conducted by Rev. Carl Whitfield under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Trace died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999.
He was born May 15, 1919 in Stafford, Kan., to James Henry Bush and Eliza (Elder) Bush.
Bush married Stella L. Dougless on Feb. 6, 1946.
He moved to California and worked as a transportation superintendent for an oil comp-any until retirement in 1968.
Bush owned a business in Springdale, Ark., for 16 years before returning to Seminole.
He served as a Sergeant in World War II as a member of the Army Air Corp.
Bush was a member of the Baptist Church, the Seminole Elks Lodge and the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Bush is survived by his wife, two sisters, Amy Reilly of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mildred Houston, N.C.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
