Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident Betty Lou Casey, 66, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Doyle Long will officiate at the service. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
The casket will be opened until service time, and not afterwards.
Casey died Thursday, June 24, 1999 at Seminole Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 11, 1932 in Seminole to Lester Marion and Mable Florence (Logan) Smith.
Casey retired from Wrangler as a division Trainer in December, 1998. He has 32 years of service with Wrangler.
She was a member of Ideal Street Baptist Church.
She was married to Billie "Gene" Casey on Sept. 1, 1949 in Van Buren, Ark. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1988.
Casey was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, L. C. Smith.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Terri and Debi Casey, and Kelly and Rita Casey, all of Seminole; one brother, Glen Smith, Maud; three sisters, Wanda Joyner, Perryton, Texas, Donna Hays, Houston, Texas, and Verna Dice, Seminole; and one grandson, Trent Casey, Seminole.
Casket bearers are listed as Joe Templeton, Doug Grady, C.D. Houck, Charles Johnson, Doug Kalicki and Don Sayre.
Honorary bearers include the rest of the Wrangler family.
James Casey
Funeral services for James Delmer Casey, 65, brother of Seminole residents Wanda Adams and Imogene Austin, were held Tuesday afternoon at Parks Brother Funeral Home Chapel in Prague.
Rev. Waldo Young officiated at the service, assisted by Rev. Darrell Nease. Burial followed at Little Cemetery.
Casey died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999 in Midwest City.
He was born Nov. 24, 1933 in Subiaco, Ark., to Sol Bert Casey and Anna Jane (Quary) Casey.
A Prague resident since 1943, Casey worked for the Prague Public School System as a bus driver since 1986.
He was a member of the View of the Cross Freewill Baptist Church.
Casey married Catherine Ann Barber on Oct. 17, 1990 in Prague. She survives him of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Jimmy Casey and Charles Casey, both of Shawnee; two stepsons, David Gayler, Ada, and Donnie Gayler, Lexington; four sisters, Retta Mae Oliver, Pearce, Ark., Wanda Adams, and Imogene Austin, both of Seminole, and Arletta Hensley, Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Kermit Casteel
Graveside services for Seminole native Kermit L. "K.C." Casteel, 71, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.
Casteel died Friday, April 16, 1999 in Cushing.
He was born April 16, 1928j in Seminole to Joe and Sadie May (Michael) Casteel.
A Baptist, Casteel worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for many years before retiring in 1990.
He married Madalynne Hazel Talkington on March 2, 1973 in Ada. She preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 1994.
Casteel was also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include one brother, Ellis Casteel, Seminole, and one special friend, Goldie Gaylord, Chandler.
Blanche Chadick
Funeral services for former Wewoka resident, Blanche (Kent) Chadick, 75, were held today at Stout Funeral Home in Wewoka.
Rev. Bob Dysinger officiated at the service. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery.
Chadick died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999 at Pioneer Nursing Home in Seminole.
She was born June 21, 1924 in Abilene, Texas, to Joseph Howell and Viola (Carmen) Kent.
Chadick attended Abilene Schools before moving to Wewoka in 1945.
She retired from Big Yank after 22 years of employment, and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Wewoka.
She was married to Charles A. Chadick on June 26, 1945. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1997, after 52 years of marriage.
Chadick was also preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Cox, one brother, David Kent, and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include her children, Charles Chadick Jr., Seminole, Judy Bowling, Roland, Bill Chadick, Coppers Cove, Texas, Debbie Canary, Decatur, Ill., Alma O’Neal, Roland, Mamie Gambrell, Pocola, and Doris Khoury, Konawa; two sisters, Doris Mitchell, San Angelo, Texas and Sadie Summers, Abilene, Texas; two brothers, James Kent, Greensboro, N.C., and Herman Kent, Denver, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were members of the VFW Post #1311.
Wayne Chambers
Funeral services for former Seminole County resident Wayne Chambers, 63, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Stout Chapel.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Chambers died Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999 at Vencor Hospital, Oklahoma City.
He was born Oct. 29, 1936 in Sasakwa to Benjamin Franklin and Lerah White Chambers.
A 1954 graduate of Sasakwa High School, Chambers pursued a career as a race horse jockey.
He rode in three Kentucky Derbys, 1960, 1964 and 1974. In 1964, he won fourth place.
Chambers won the Washington D.C. International in 1963. He retired in 1975.
Upon retirement, he made his home in Thomas until the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother, of Holdenville; three brothers, Gerald Chambers, Oklahoma City, Glen Chambers, Lauafet, La., and Benny Chambers, Ruidoso, N.M.; and one sister, Velva Talley, Oklahoma City.
Vivian Chapman
Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, Vivian Chapman, 87, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearing Funeral Chapel.
Chapman died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999 at the Seminole Medical Center.
Dr. Jack Medlock will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at the Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Chapman was born Aug. 31, 1912 in Gainesville, Texas to Edgar Bruce and Allie Mae (Peavler) Bruce. She moved from Texas to Oklahoma in the 1920’s.
In 1929 she married Z. E. Edgell. She later married Dewey G. Chapman in Konawa on March 27, 1966; he preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1995.
Chapman worked man years at Wacker’s lunch counter.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one infant son.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Lee Edgell, Sparta, Wisc., Don and Gwen Edgell, Seminole and Leroy and Carol Edgell, Seminole; one brother, Edwin Bruce, Ventura, Calif., 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Betty Chase
Memorial services for former Seminole resident Betty Lou Chase, 75, of Norman, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Havenbrook Funeral Home, in Norman.
Rev. Joe Thompson will officiate at the service.
Chase died Sunday, July 25, 1999 at her home.
She was born May 21, 1924 in Norman to John Levi and Leona Elizabeth (Stogner) Bumgarner.
A 1942 graduate of Norman High School, she worked at Douglas Air Craft during World War II.
In years following the war, Chase raised a family and earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma, then a Master’s degree from East Central University.
She taught Spanish at Butner Schools, and also taught at Seminole High School and Seminole Junior College.
Her last 17 years of teaching was in California, before moving to Norman in 1984.
Chase was a member of the McFarlin Memorial Methodist Church.
She married James T. Chase on Oct. 6, 1945 in Seminole. He survives her of the home.
Chase was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Helen Lee Kammerlocher.
Other survivors include two daughters, Toni Carter, Norman, and Ricky Dell, Kokomo, Ind.; three brothers, John Bumgarner, Norman, Robert Bumgarner, Phoenix, Ariz., and Phillip Bumgarner, Braddenton, Fla.; one sister, Mary Ann Jahnke, Henderson, Nev.; and two grandchildren.
The family has suggested expressions of sympathy be made to the McFarlin Memorial Methodist Church Building Fund., 419 S. University Blvd., Norman, 73069 or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City, 73120.
James ‘Jim’ Chase
Graveside services for former longtime Seminole resident James Edward "Jim" Chase, 61, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Little Cemetery.
Rev. Cecil Spoonemore will officiate at the services. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral home.
Chase died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999 at his home in Oklahoma City.
He was born Jan. 7, 1938 in Seminole to Louis Elmer and Reetha Mae (Stephens) Chase.
A veteran, Chase was a US Army Sergeant, and retired from the military and Tinker Air Force Base.
After his retirement, he worked as an armed security man for Pinkerton Security, where he was a supervisor.
Chase was also a musician, and performed for many fundraisers.
He married Christa Friedlin Dorst on May 15, 1962 in Heilbronn, Germany. She survives him of the home.
Chase was preceded in death by his father; one son, Erich Von Chase, on Oct. 20, 1970; one brother, Charles Russell Chase, in 1983; and one sister, Barbara McGruder, in 1986.
Other survivors include his mother, of Seminole; three daughters, Manuela Chase, Christina Louise Chase and Angelique Corson, all of Oklahoma City; one brother, Louis Chase, Seminole; one sister, Pat Plumlee, Union, Mo.; one grandson and twin great-grand-children.
